• How to automatically record all telephone conversations. Record phone conversations on Android

On this page we will show and tell How can I record a telephone conversation on Android?, where the recording is saved and how to listen to it.

At the moment, there are many different Android applications that you can install on your phone and use them to record a telephone conversation. In this article we will show and write how to record a telephone conversation on Android without third-party applications; for recording we use the phone’s built-in voice recorder. And so, to record a conversation during a call on Android phones, follow these steps. Dial the number as usual and during the conversation click “More” as shown below in the screenshot.

After you click "More", an additional menu will open where you need to select "Dict." or a more complete name or something similar. Look at the attached picture below.

That's it now built-in voice recorder for Android will record the conversation during the call. You can stop recording and start a new recording at any time. The call recording time is shown on the phone screen.

This method of recording a telephone conversation may not be available on all Android phones. For example on Samsung Galaxy record conversation you can do this: During a conversation, you need to press and hold the “Menu” button, which is located at the bottom of the screen in the center, and in the menu that appears, select “Dict.” and the process of recording the conversation begins.

Also on some Android phones the location of the menu button may not be the same as on the Samsung Galaxy; perhaps the menu button may be located either on the right side or on the left side. I think you will find the menu button on your Android, and the way to record a telephone conversation on different Android phones may be slightly different. We kindly ask you to write below in the reviews whether this method of recording a conversation is suitable for your phone or on your Android it needs to be done differently, it is advisable to indicate the phone model. Perhaps your advice will help other users find the information they were looking for.

After we have recorded the conversation, we can immediately listen to it, and you can also find where in what folder it was saved on Android. And so, in order to listen to what we recorded, you need to look at the list of recent calls and select the desired call from the list. In our example, I recorded a conversation with the answering machine “MTS Help”, you choose which one you recorded. Look at the screenshot below.

After you open the call, you will see items with information in it; on the right side there is also an icon indicating that a recording of the conversation was made. By clicking on the icon, you can listen to the recorded conversation. You will understand everything by looking at the attached picture below.

We can also look where are the recordings of telephone conversations saved on Android?. On my Android, the folder with recordings is located on the memory card called “Call Recording”; on some phones, the folder with recordings may also be located in the phone’s memory.

Lenovo S 660. I couldn’t record a phone conversation, if possible, tell me how to do this?

Modern phones have extremely wide functionality, and there are often situations when users have difficulties while using them. Typically, these difficulties are related to the use of a specific program or option. For example, how to record a call.

If you encounter any difficulties in operating your Samsung gadgets, you can contact the Samsung service center in Moscow and other cities listed on the website by clicking on the link and leaving a request.

How to record audio on a Samsung phone

Today, there are several methods that can be used to record telephone conversations.

    Built-in call recording function

Android phones have a built-in call recording feature that uses a voice recorder. On earlier models, you need to select the icon with the image of a cassette in talk mode. It may be located in the "More" tab.

Newer models have made this task easier. Now you just need to enable conversation recording at the bottom of your smartphone screen in conversation mode.

But in ultra-modern Samsung models, for example, such as the Galaxy S5, S6, S7, this function is present in the phone, but is disabled by default, since recording a conversation is prohibited by law in the manufacturer’s country.

    Installing special programs

To enable the built-in call recording option, you can install a special patch - a modification with which you can make changes to the phone’s firmware. But to do this, you need to get root rights, which will allow you to make these same changes. A huge disadvantage is that, having received these rights, your product automatically loses any warranty from the manufacturer. Therefore, we recommend using the much simpler and safer method indicated below. If you nevertheless decide to carry out such manipulations and have problems, then contact a Samsung smartphone repair service center.

Using an application to record a conversation

PlayMarket offers a wide selection of different applications, free and paid versions. One of the most popular is Call Recorder.

By downloading and installing this application, you will be able to record your telephone conversations automatically. This will be indicated by a red recording indicator at the top of the screen.

Be careful because the free version only stores 100 entries and you will need to periodically make room for new ones. The paid version expands this functionality and allows you to record conversations, for example, with a specific subscriber.

Thus, if your phone does not have a built-in option for recording telephone conversations, by installing any application, you can easily solve this problem for yourself.

Some users need to record telephone conversations from time to time. Samsung smartphones, like devices from other manufacturers running Android, can also record calls. Today we will tell you by what methods this can be done.

There are two ways to record a call on a Samsung device: using third-party applications or built-in tools. By the way, the availability of the latter depends on the model and firmware version.

    Method 1: Third Party Application

Recorder applications have a number of advantages over system tools, and the most important thing is versatility. So, they work on most devices that support call recording. One of the most convenient programs of this kind is Call Recorder from Appliqato. Using her example, we will show you how to record conversations using third-party applications.

    1. After downloading and installing Call Recorder, the first step is to configure the application. To do this, launch it from the menu or desktop.
    2. Be sure to read the terms of license use of the program!
    3. Once in the main Call Recorder window, tap the button with three lines to go to the main menu.

      There select the item "Settings".
    4. Be sure to activate the switch "Enable automatic recording mode": it is necessary for the program to work correctly on the latest Samsung smartphones!

You can leave the rest of the settings as they are or change them to suit your needs.
    5. After the initial setup, leave the application as is - it will automatically record conversations in accordance with the specified parameters.
    6. After the call ends, you can tap the Call Recorder notification to view details, make a note, or delete the received file.

The program works excellently and does not require root access, but in the free version it can only store 100 records. The disadvantages include recording from a microphone - even the Pro version of the program cannot record calls directly from the line. There are some - some of them are richer in capabilities than Call Recorder from Appliqato.

    Method 2: Built-in tools

The call recording feature is present in Android out of the box. In Samsung smartphones sold in the CIS countries, this feature is blocked by software. However, there is a way to unlock this function, but it requires root and at least minimal skills in handling system files. Therefore, if you are unsure of your abilities, do not take risks.

    Getting Root
The method depends specifically on the device and firmware, but the main ones are described in the article below.

We also note that on Samsung devices the easiest way to obtain Root privileges is by using a modified recovery, in particular. In addition, using the latest versions of the program, you can install CF-Auto-Root, which is the best option for the average user.

    Enable built-in call recording
Since this option is disabled by software, to activate it you will need to edit one of the system files. It's done like this.

    1. Download and install on a phone with root access - for example, Root Explorer. Open it and go to:

The program will ask for permission to use root, so provide it.

    2. In a folder csc find the file named others.xml. Select the document with a long tap, then click on the 3 dots at the top right.

From the drop down menu select "Open in a text editor".

Confirm the request to remount the file system.
    3. Scroll through the file. At the very bottom there should be the following text:

Above these lines, insert this parameter:

      RecordingAllowed

Pay attention! By setting this option, you will no longer be able to create conference calls!

    4. Save the changes and restart your smartphone.

Recording a conversation using system tools
Open the built-in Samsung dialer application and make a call. You will notice that there is a new button with a picture of a cassette tape.

Clicking this button will start recording the conversation. It happens automatically. The received recordings are stored in internal memory, in directories "Call" or "Voices".

This method is quite complicated for the average user, so we recommend using it only as a last resort.

To summarize, we note that in general, recording conversations on Samsung devices is no fundamentally different from a similar procedure on other Android smartphones.

Surely every owner of a smartphone on the Android platform has at least once thought about how to record a conversation with the interlocutor on the other end of the line. Some people are simply interested in the very fact of such an enterprise for entertainment purposes, while others need it for work. The latter may be journalists who need such records for reliable reporting of articles, or private detectives whose duties include knowing everything and everyone. As such, there are a lot of scenarios for using this functionality and there is no point in describing them all, because we are interested in the very possibility of recording telephone conversations on Android.

In principle, many modern gadgets, even budget ones, can easily solve this problem using built-in software. In theory, all smartphones have this functionality, that is, you can record a conversation on Android using standard tools, but not every manufacturer activates this feature in the stock firmware.

    Smartphone Manufacturers' Policy

Some gadgets on this platform have access to the API (internal device code) for standard and third-party applications. That is, in our case, this option will be the best for recording conversations on Android: you don’t need to install anything, but just use the built-in software, in a couple of clicks and without any adjustments.

However, a good half of the devices do not use this functionality or are completely blocked. The fact is that most countries where smartphones are imported have very strict policies regarding confidentiality and privacy in general. Sometimes the presence of programs built into the firmware for recording telephone conversations on Android can lead to criminal prosecution, so it is easier for manufacturers to initially abandon such functionality than to deal with constant lawsuits from consumers and distributors.

    Firmware features

Moreover, smartphone developers act in various ways to hide this functionality: they either remove the driver responsible for this, or hide entries in system libraries. Such prohibitions, of course, can be circumvented by installing administrator rights (root rights), but flipping through voluminous code in search of the required line is not the most noble thing. Here it is easier to purchase a smartphone from a more “accommodating” brand in advance.

As for specific manufacturers, judging by user reviews and information from official company forums, phones from ZTE, Meizu, Lenovo and Xiaomi have built-in applications for recording telephone conversations on Android. Samsung and Huawei devices did not have such programs, but the stock firmware did not in any way prevent the installation of third-party software for such purposes. Sony, LG, Vivo and some Asus models have flatly refused to install call recording applications for Android. The latter become more accommodating when receiving root rights, but not every user wants to deal with this. Here we are already talking about violation of warranty obligations and stability of the gadget. Therefore, the risk, especially for new phones, is quite high.

Programs for recording conversations on Android

Standard tools, if any are provided in the device, and the manufacturer has opened access to them, are not distinguished by the abundance of functionality, as well as convenience, at least most of them. There is no sorting, marking, converting to the required format, etc.

Third-party software for recording conversations on Android, as a rule, has more extensive capabilities, full functionality and an ergonomic interface. Therefore, for those who are interested in this area, it is better to pay attention to third-party utilities, which will be discussed below. The evaluation took into account user reviews and product popularity. It is also worth noting that programs of this type cannot guarantee their stable operation on your devices for the reasons stated above.

    Automatic Call Recorder

There are a lot of similar applications for recording conversations on Android in Google Play, and with exactly this name. Therefore, before downloading the software, be sure to pay attention to the program developer; it should be the Appliqato company.

Judging by the reviews and the number of downloads, the application is enviably popular among users. As for field tests, the utility coped with them perfectly. The only fly in the ointment that most users complain about is advertising. The problem can be solved by purchasing a paid license or, for fans of piracy, a hacked version.

    Distinctive features of the software

In general, the functionality of the shareware copy cannot be called truncated or inferior. Everything works well and quite seriously: automatic conversation recording on Android, data storage in the DropBox and Google Drive clouds, competent sorting of files in real time, as well as a wide range of customizable settings.

The paid version slightly expands the functionality, but only slightly. It becomes possible to use the voice recorder and a menu branch opens where you can configure saving conversations with your favorite contacts.

    CallU

This utility is in no way inferior in quality to the previous respondent. The application can also record conversations automatically and save them in the DropBox or Google Drive clouds. In addition, the program provides protection for user data, including similar call records using a PIN code.

Separately, it is worth noting the well-designed interface of the utility, where each item is clearly labeled and has a help icon, upon clicking on which an auxiliary window pops up with a detailed explanation of the selected functionality. This is a particularly useful thing for beginners, and experienced users often resort to the wizard-assistant for finer settings “for themselves.”

The fly in the ointment here is the not entirely convenient processing of files after recording conversations. In order to see some details, you need to tap three times, and only then the full information about the file will be displayed on the screen.

    ACR

A rather finicky application for the “right” smartphones, where in some cases you have to resort to installing root rights. But, judging by the numerous and flattering reviews of the product, it is worth it.

The program has a simple and at the same time attractive interface, where everything is in its place. There's no need to wander here. The developer followed the analogy with the standard phone book for Android, so all the functionality is recognizable and easy to learn. It is also worth noting the competent sorting of files upon completion of recording: everything is arranged in selected folders, with corresponding notes and is available in two clicks.

As for storing data in cloud services, the free version is not capable of this; you will have to buy a paid license. The latter, by the way, adds the ability to record calls from the middle of a conversation and automatically clear the memory.

    "Zvondik"

"Zvondik" is a fairly popular application from domestic developers. Reviews for the utility are mostly flattering and users did not find any critical flaws in it. The only thing worth clarifying is that the program, just as in the case of ACR, is extremely picky about smartphone manufacturers, as well as about firmware. Therefore, a good half of the gadgets may need root rights.

The free version of the product has all the necessary functionality, including storing data in the DropBox cloud. It is also possible to select the file format that will be output after recording, and convert one type to another directly in the application. In addition, users have repeatedly sung praises to the developer for a lot of albeit small, but extremely useful “tricks”, such as vibration when starting a recording, different interface themes, and most importantly, the ability to fine-tune the functionality specifically to suit your needs. In general, after using this application, you feel that the owner of the software approached his brainchild with all his heart. Therefore, it is really pleasant and easy to work with him.

Do you make important calls for work or personal projects? Do you just like long conversations and don’t always remember what you agreed on in the end? For such cases, Android smartphones provide functionality for recording conversations using built-in methods or using third-party applications.

Smartphones with the Android operating system have a standard call recording function by default, but recording the speech of the interlocutor without his warning is illegal in many countries. Before the conversation, you must notify the person on the other end of the line about the recording, so that he has the opportunity to refuse to continue the conversation.

Phone manufacturers often block the call recording option at the kernel level, meaning that even if this option is available, you will encounter technical limitations in the process of connecting it. Therefore, before calling the person with whom you intend to record the conversation, you need to install the recording application in advance and try to use it. If the recording is successful, then there are no restrictions on the phone, but this does not mean that in this way you will not violate the laws of the country in which you are located.

Sometimes the recording application opens and even records sound, but then it turns out that only your voice is saved, and the voice of the interlocutor is missing from the recording. Therefore, you need to check in advance how a particular application works.

How to record a telephone conversation on Android

Many applications have been developed for speech recording, similar in functionality, but different in interface and ease of use.

    Recording via voice recorder

The first thing that is easiest to turn to in such cases is the built-in set of applications. Among them you can find “Dictaphone”. However, speech recording is done in a slightly different way from simply running the program. This function must be activated directly during a call from the additional options menu.

Here's how to record a conversation with the built-in application:

Video: how to record a conversation using the built-in application

    Recording with third-party applications

The Play Market app store offers dozens of programs for recording conversations. They all differ in functionality and, of course, ease of use.

    Application "Call/conversation recording" (CallU)

The application has a number of advantages:

    • the ability to save sound recordings to cloud storage Dropbox or Google Drive, protection of recordings with a PIN code from eavesdropping by others, the ability to select contacts whose conversation to record;
    • you can choose the file format (two to choose from - wav and mp3) and sound quality (this will affect the size of the saved file);
    • text hint-instructions that accompanies each settings page;
    • You can add a text note to each entry by selecting the entry and then clicking the note icon;
    • The appearance of the application can be changed with a set of built-in themes.

The application does its job well.

    Call Recorder (Clever Mobile)

The Call Recorder application from the developer Clever Mobile is one of the simplest and most convenient in its category. The application interface is very easy to master. Here is a list of options that are available in the application and can be set in the settings:

The application starts automatically and records all conversations without the need for the user to confirm the start of recording. Before a particularly important conversation, you should definitely test the program’s operation, because each phone model may have its own nuances.

If the recording does not turn out as required, it is worth checking in the settings whether the entire line is being recorded or only the voice of one of the participants in the conversation. The second important option to pay attention to is the file format. If your recording is choppy or full of strange sounds, try changing the file format.

    Automatic Call Recorder (Appliqato)

The catalog of applications for recording conversations can be expanded with the Automatic Call Recorder (Appliqato) program. The particular convenience of this application is that recordings can be saved not only to local storage (on a smartphone), but also directly to the Cloud through your Google Drive or Dropbox account. You won't have to worry about your recordings getting lost. And you can immediately access them from other devices - from a computer or tablet. The program writes in three formats: wav, amr and 3gp.

The application is free and has two versions - basic and Pro, equipped with additional functionality.

    Smart Auto Call Recorder

Another program can add to the list of audio recording applications - Smart Auto Call Recorder. The application is not the worst, although its appearance is not very modern. Nevertheless, the application's rating is high enough to try it on your smartphone. The main page of the application contains a list of incoming calls, where you can sort calls by date or number. This will help you navigate calls more easily. Similar to other applications, after receiving a recording, you can leave a note about it.

Cloud saving is only available in the paid version. There is password protection for recordings. One of the unusual features is the ability to delay recording so that beeps do not end up in a file and take up space in memory. For long conversations, the long recording mode is activated.
