    The HP 178 cartridge is used in inkjet MFPs: HP Photosmart D5463, DeskJet 3070A, Photosmart B109 Wireless, Photosmart Premium C309, HP Photosmart C5383, C6383, Plus B209b, B109c, Plus e-All-in-One B210b, Wireless e-All-in -One B110b, B010b, Premium Fax e-All-in-One, C310b.

The main thing to remember is that you need to refill the cartridge as soon as it runs out of ink. The best option is to refill the cartridge before the ink runs out. Printing without ink can damage the print head. You need to try to find out how many pages the ink lasts for. And in this case, simply refill the cartridge after this amount. The cartridges are opaque, so it is very difficult to visually track the presence of ink in the cartridge.

If the cartridge is left empty for some time, the absorbent sponge in it will dry out. And then it will simply be useless to refuel it. You will waste your time and money. Also, do not leave the printer without a cartridge for a long time. The ink in the print head may dry out.

The cartridge of this model is the container where the ink is stored. There are two compartments in the case, which are separated by a partition.

The first compartment contains spongy material. It is connected to the nozzle. Above the compartment there is a ventilation hole and a labyrinth, that is, an air channel. There is a hole on the cover of the second compartment. It is closed with a polymer ball. It was through this that the cartridge was refilled.

When the cartridge is in a vertical position, ink does not flow from one compartment to another because there is no communicating channel between the compartments at the bottom. There is no need to refill ink into the compartment without sponge filler.

There are two options for refilling the cartridge. You can refill it through the vent or through the nozzle. Do not attempt to drill an additional hole.

Option one. The cartridge is installed vertically. To avoid getting everything dirty, place napkins under the nozzle.

Do not remove the sticker. Find the vent hole on the lid and poke it with a sharp needle.

Use a syringe and fill it with 4.5 ml of ink. Insert a needle into this hole and lower it half a centimeter deep. Now slowly press the plunger of the syringe. As soon as a drop of ink appears on the surface, stop refilling.

Blot the excess ink with a napkin and install the cartridge into the printer. This way you can fill all the colors into the cartridge. After refilling the HP 178 cartridge and installing it in the printer, clean the head and do a test print to make sure the cartridge is working properly.

HP 178 refill at home. Option two.

We lay several napkins on the work surface and place the cartridge with the nozzle facing up. The syringe also holds 4.5 ml of ink.

Do not touch the filler. The ink should be squeezed drop by drop into the nozzles. At first, the ink will be absorbed quickly into the sponge filler. Then absorption will be slower.

As soon as ink droplets appear from the hole, refilling should be stopped. Wipe the hole with tissues, turn the cartridge over and install it in the printer.

/ / . You can extend the life of the cartridges: black hp 122 can withstand up to eight refills, and color – about five.

Don't miss the moment. The nozzle plate of the print head heats up during operation, and the ink cools it. When the refill runs out, there is not enough coolant and the nozzles quickly become clogged with overheated ink. Sometimes such a cartridge cannot be restored in any way and can only be thrown away. If white stripes appear or the printing is simply fuzzy - stop working and don’t put off refilling.

The situation is quite likely: the ink has run out, and you urgently need to print more than one page. And the workshop where they can help is located on the other side of the city. You can deal with this problem yourself if you know exactly how to refill an hp 122 cartridge.

Take care in advance of purchasing suitable ink (the label must have hp 122); it is better not to buy universal ones. If the paint is packaged in bottles, you will have to run to the pharmacy for regular medical syringes.

Important: Even a full cartridge can dry out if it has not been used for a long time. To prevent this from happening, print one or two pages every week.

It is necessary to prepare the workplace: remove all important papers and cover the table with newspaper. To refill, take ink, four syringes, toilet or other soft paper, and put on rubber gloves. A black cartridge can hold up to 10 ml of ink, a color cartridge can hold a maximum of 3 ml. You need to fill the syringes very carefully so that there is no air or foam. It’s more convenient to prepare all four at once. You can use one, but rinse it with distilled water and be sure to dry it before using it again.

To clear the refill holes, peel off the labels. The pictures below indicate where to add ink.

note that There are two types of color cartridge. This means that before refueling you need to determine which option is in your hands. There are several ways to find out. Press the print head against the toilet paper: the middle print is from the ink poured into the top chamber. You can just look into the filling hole. Or dip the tip of a needle there and see what color it turns.

Now you need to wipe the nozzles with flushing liquid or distilled water and you can start refueling.

    Refueling

For a color cartridge, the order is strict:

    1. yellow;
    2. red;
    3. blue.

Lower the needle into the desired hole 2–3 cm and inject ink. You need to act slowly, ideally 15 seconds per 1 ml. And watch carefully when ink begins to appear in the filling hole. After all, ink in a color cartridge is not consumed equally and it is impossible to know how much will be needed for a full refill. If you accidentally overfilled it, you can pull the syringe plunger back and take some of the paint back. We do the same with red and blue.

Refilling the black HP 122 cartridge has some features. The picture in red shows the place where the additional chamber is located, which also needs to be filled with ink. To do this, you will need to pierce the cleaning filter with a needle. This doesn’t sound very good, but it’s the lesser of two evils; otherwise, when refilling, the filter does not allow ink to pass through and air accumulates in the additional chamber. Which, in turn, leads to printing problems.

If you press too hard while piercing the filter and allow the needle to go deeper than shown, you may damage the print head. This will not happen if you point the syringe at a 45 degree angle.

    Returning cartridges to the printer

Refilling is complete, all that remains is to wipe the cartridge with soft paper and return the stickers to their place. Some experts recommend not removing the stickers when refueling, but simply piercing them and not sealing them. This is motivated by the fact that a vacuum is created inside, which reduces the service life.

Before installing cartridges into the printer, wipe the contacts with alcohol or a regular eraser. Even if the paint didn’t get there, it won’t hurt.

The video below will show how you can make a reinforced one from a standard black HP 122 cartridge and refill it. The video is in Portuguese, but I hope everything will be clear.

    Have fun typing.

At the market. The reason is simple - price. They are cheaper both in terms of the cost of the models themselves and in maintenance, because they do not have such expensive consumables as photoconductors and photodrums. It is also worth mentioning that almost all images are printed on inkjet printers, since the resolution of conventional lasers leaves much to be desired.

However, one should not forget about the main disadvantage of inkjet printers - the low print cartridge resource. A standard black ink cartridge from the HP deskjet LaserJet 2130 will give you a maximum of 120 full pages of text. In this regard, printing large volumes of information becomes financially expensive due to their frequent replacement. There is only one way out - self-refueling. Let's take a closer look at this process.

    Preparation

Consider a situation where we need to refill two cartridges:

    1. HP 123 (F6V17AE) - black ink, volume 2 ml
    2. HP 123 (F6V16AE) - three-color ink, volume 2 ml

Note You may have XL versions of cartridges with increased ink capacity: HP 123XL (F6V19AE) and HP 123XL (F6V18AE). They differ from the usual ones only in volume, 8.5 ml for (F6V19AE) and 8 ml for (F6V18AE). The refueling process is completely similar.

    For refueling we will need:

Note Black ink is pigment type, color ink is water-soluble.

    Conclusion

Congratulations if you got it right the first time. Now you know how to refill a cartridge in an HP deskjet LaserJet 2130 printer like a professional.

This cartridge is widely used because it fits the popular HP DeskJet 1000, 1050, 2050, 3050 device models, and is also quite durable - the black cartridge can be refilled up to eight times, and the color cartridge about five times. The process itself is not complicated and does not cause any particular difficulties - you can refill an HP cartridge at home yourself.

First of all, you need to purchase the appropriate ink, It is mandatory that the label contains the inscription “HP 122”, as well as four medical syringes with needles. The volume of the black cartridge is 10 ml, the color cartridge is 3 ml, so we fill each syringe with the appropriate amount of paint. You can also use one syringe, refilling the ink one at a time, but in this case, after each use it must be thoroughly rinsed with distilled water and certainly dried.

Then we proceed to the refueling itself. You must remove the protective film on the top of the cartridge to gain access to the refill holes. Here it should be clarified that there is an old and a new model of a color cartridge, and in them the chamber with yellow and red ink is swapped. To quickly determine which paint is which, you can use a needle by lowering it a couple of millimeters into the filling hole. Then we rinse the cartridge head with distilled water and you can start pouring paint.

The HP 122 color and black cartridges have their own refilling features that you need to remember.

When refilling color, it is important to follow the exact sequence: first yellow, then red, and lastly blue. We lower the needle into the hole by 3-5 mm and slowly begin to introduce paint, focusing on 15-20 seconds for each milliliter. As soon as drops of ink begin to appear from the filling hole, the chamber is full, move on to the next one. After refilling, wipe the holes with a napkin and put the protective film back on. You can also use duct tape.

The black cartridge, in addition to the main chamber, has an additional chamber in the lower part, which must be filled with paint, otherwise air will accumulate there and problems with printing will arise. To fill it, you will have to apply a little force and pierce the cleaning filter with a needle. The easiest way to do this is to insert the needle into the hole at a slight angle. After these manipulations, we repeat the procedure with slowly introducing ink, followed by sealing the protective film.

That's it, the cartridges are refilled and ready for use.
