When the main connection is restored, the router will automatically switch back.

Setting up a wireless connection, the basic parameters contain: enabling the WLAN module, the function of not detecting an access point, the Mac address of the wireless connection, network authentication and selecting the channel through which the router communicates with clients.

In the “Management” tab, you can back up setup data, update or restore the system. After updating the device software, the previously used settings are retained. The update takes place in a couple of minutes.

    Let's summarize the above

The fast 2804 universal router is quite large, but working with it is very simple. The functionality of the device is high, it is possible to implement all the necessary resources, including backup switching from the main connection to an additional one. Everything described gives reason to believe that a universal router from Sagemcom will be one of the most convenient options for implementing office or home communications.

Today, wireless Internet can be found everywhere, and home users are not left out. This article will look at how to configure a Rostelecom router. If you follow this process step by step, you will not need to order router setup from specialists. This is both a bit expensive and unnecessary when you can do everything yourself.

    Connecting a router

How to configure a Rostelecom router? You need to start with the same steps that apply to a router configured for any other provider. First we connect the cables. We connect the cable that provides the Internet connection to the “Internet” or WAN connector. Connect the cable included with the router to the LAN connector. We connect the second end of this cable to a computer or laptop - to the device from which we will configure the router.

It can be carried out automatically without user intervention. But in some cases, intervention must be done through manual configuration. If the router was used before you set it up, you need to reboot it, for which we find a small hole in the back, which is usually labeled Reset, insert a needle there and press.

    We perform manual configuration

How to configure a Rostelecom router manually? To do this, you need to take a short period of time to enter parameters from the keyboard. The router is configured in the browser by entering the address of this router in the address bar. It is usually indicated on the back panel of the equipment in question. Typically, it has an IP address of 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. Confirm your entry by pressing the Enter key and enter your username and password in the window that appears.

This information for the first login is indicated next to the router’s IP address. Next, many settings may appear. At this stage, we are only interested in the question of how to set up a Rostelecom Wi-Fi router.

To do this, go to the wireless Internet settings and enter the following data in the fields: SSID - name of the wireless network, hide SSID - no, Wi-Fi mode - auto, extended channel - auto, channel - 7, channel width - 20/40 MHz, WPA key - password to access this network, encryption - WPA - AES, authentication - WPA-Personal. Save and close the browser. If it is necessary to reconfigure these values, enter the router’s IP again in your favorite browser and change the required parameter.

    Setting up an ADSL modem

A small part of Rostelecom subscribers still do not have fiber optic lines. They connect to the Global Network via an ADSL modem. This is done using a telephone line. To ensure that the Internet connection does not break during a conversation or that the phone is not busy while accessing the World Wide Web, splitters are used, which are splitters to which both the Internet cable and telephone cable, as well as a router, are connected.

Next, we’ll look at how to set up a Rostelecom Wi-Fi router. We type the IP address of the equipment in question in the address bar of your favorite browser. In the settings, we set the following parameters: we confirm the activation of WAN, NAT, WAN connection - PPPoE, we do not confirm the activation of UPnP - we receive the IP address in Rostelecom automatically. We also connect to DNS automatically, enter the login and key that were given by the provider. We save the settings, and eventually an Internet connection should appear.

    Sagemcom router

The Sagemcom F@st 2804 v7 router recommends using Rostelecom itself. It can be used to configure both Ethernet and ADSL connections. In addition, this router helps to create a home network, which can be wired or wireless, and also allows you to connect an IPTV set-top box. How to configure the Rostelecom Sagemcom router will be shown below.

Connection and automatic configuration of Sagemcom

The connection is carried out in the same way as described for all routers. If an ADSL connection is used, the Internet cable is connected to the socket labeled ADSL. When connecting, insert the cable into the LAN1 port. The following LAN jacks can be used to connect a cable used to connect to a computer. When you purchase this router from Rostelecom, it comes with a DVD. If the firmware on the router is old (up to v7), then you need to update it using this disk to the latest version, which was developed by Rostelecom. It provides the most stable connection with its servers.

How to set up a Rostelecom - Sagemcom WiFi router? We insert the disk that came with the router into the drive, the setup wizard starts, with which you can set all the necessary parameters when you select “Full setup”, after which you need to follow the instructions given during the installation process.

    Manual setup Sagemcom

To properly configure the Rostelecom F ST 2804 v7 router, write the IP address in the browser, identifying it by the sticker on the bottom cover. Sometimes it may be missing. In this case, go into the properties of the local connection and copy this address from the “Default gateway” line. After this, in the dialog box that appears, enter data identifying the user. The data is given on the sticker. If it is not there, you need to try the most common combination of login and password admin.

Next, the configuration interface for this router will appear. On the left side is a list of menu items. Go to “Advanced settings”. Open the “WAN service”. If there are any connections there, delete them using the checkboxes and the “Delete” button. Go to the “Second Level Interface” and also clear it. Click “Add”.

We enter the values of VPI and VCI, which have their own values in each subject of our country. You can find out by calling technical support. Click on the “Apply/Save” button. We return to the “WAN service” and click on “Add”. In the list that appears, select the connection that was created, and then in the next window select the connection type. Rostelecom mainly uses a PPPoE connection. We indicate the login and password for this connection (it will be marked as PPP, which is a general case, which also applies to PPPoE). Service name - any. Check the box next to “Retry PPP on error”. Click on “Apply/Save”.

Everything described above will help answer the question of how to configure the Rostelecom F ST 1744 router.

Setting up a router to work with an IPTV set-top box

How to set up a Rostelecom router so that you can watch television using the Global Network? To do this, in the previously discussed router in the “Second Level Interface” we create a new connection with different VCI and VPI values. In the “WAN service” we create a new object, select the created connection, in the configuration window select Bridging (bridge), click “Next”. Open the LAN tab. Check the “Disable DHCP server” checkbox. Make IGMP Snooping and “IGMP Proxy on the Bridge” active. Go to the WLAN category, subcategory “Main”.

Make active “Enable multicast transmission” and “Enable wireless network”. Enter the SSID name. Go to “Security”. Authentication - WPA-PSK, WPA encryption - TKIP + AES. Specify the WPA/WAPI password (8 characters or more) and click on “Apply/Save”, after which you need to reboot the router.

    Setting up a D-Link router

We examined the previous router in detail, since this is what Rostelecom recommends using. In other routers, we will consider only the basic settings without going into detail. So, to set up a D-link router for Rostelecom, you need to: for Dir 615 enter the name of the Internet service, LCP interval - 15, dips - 2; for Dir 300 the service name is Ports with values 2 and 3, although there may be others depending on the ports used; for DSL 2500u and click on Click’n’Connect. Authentication for wireless networks - WPA2-PSK. IPTV in Dir 300 is configured through “Quick Setup”, “IPTV Setup Wizard”, where we specify the port to which the set-top box is connected. Other similar models are configured in the same way.

    Setting up a TP-Link router

You can configure a TP-Link router for Rostelecom as follows: in the connection type, select PPPoE or “PPPoE Russia”, enter the data provided by the provider, click on “Connect”. Disable the secondary connection and add an automatic WAN connection. When protecting your wireless network, select WPA-Personal/WPA2-Personal.

IPTV is configured in the “Network” - IPTV menu, select the “Bridge” mode, in the “Port for IPTV” indicate the port number with the attached set-top box (by selecting the port signature on the back of the router). All modem models are configured in the same way. If you need to install new firmware, you need to download it from the manufacturer’s website. When setting up these routers, you can specify not the IP address, but tplinklogin.net. The default login options are shown on the sticker located at the bottom.

The router can be configured in two ways: using the auto-configuration disk (included with the router) or through the Web interface. For users using equipment in the Rostov region, configuration using the disk is not recommended, especially when using an ADSL connection. Setting up the modem via the web interface is simple and does not require special knowledge.

Setting up a router to work using ADSL technology

To configure, you need to connect the modem and PC using a LAN cable. The cable from the PC must be connected to port 3 (ETH3).
Open your browser (Opera, Mozilla, Chrome, Yandex) and type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar

The default settings use username admin, password: admin)

If the equipment has not been used or configured before, then resetting the settings to factory settings is not necessary.

A factory reset is available through the MANAGEMENT > Settings > Reset menu. After clicking the "Restore Default Settings" button, after 30 seconds the settings will be reset to factory defaults.

We delete the factory-created interfaces in the “Advanced settings” > “WAN service” menu, then in the “Advanced settings” menu > “2-level interface” > “ATM PVC interface”.

Removal must be done in exactly this sequence, since the Virtual Interface will not be deleted if the WAN service is configured.

The setup is carried out in the reverse order: create a new interface in the menu “Additional settings” “Second level interface” “ATM PVC interface”.

VPI, VCI is filled in based on the settings issued by the provider
    Connection type (DSL Link):
    — specify EoA when using PPPoE connection
    — specify PPPoA when using PPPoA connection

The encapsulation mode will be selected automatically and depends on the connection type selected above.
To save the settings, click the “Apply/Save” button.

Add a WAN connection to the “Advanced settings” > “WAN service” menu. We set up the connection by going through the pages:
    — select the interface according to the created PVC with the required VPI/VCI, for example (ATM1_0_35).
    — the description of the service is optional.

The fields “PPP Username” and “PPP Password” are filled in with the data located on the card issued by the provider.

On the “Routing - default gateway” and “DNS server configuration” settings pages, select active interfaces. The created WAN interface should be set as the selected default gateway interface.
If all settings have been entered correctly, then after clicking the “Apply/Save” button the indicator @ will flash green.

    Virtual Channels (PVC):
    For Rostelecom subscribers Rostov/Rostov region - VPI=0, VCI=35
    For DTS/Comstar/MTS subscribers - VPI=0, VCI=33
    Connection type and encapsulation:
For Rostelecom subscribers Rostov/Rostov region - PPPoA VC-Mux, PPPoE LLC
For DTS/Comstar/MTS subscribers - PPPoE LLC

Setting up a router to work using FTTB technology

Before setting up the router, you must connect the network cables correctly. The equipment manufacturer recommends connecting according to the following diagram:
    LAN1 (eth0) - connection to 1 TV set-top box;
    LAN2 (eth1) - connection to 2TV set-top boxes;
    LAN3 (eth2) - PC connection;
    LAN4 (eth3) - connection of the provider’s Ethernet cable.

A peculiarity of the firmware is that the LAN ports are numbered from 1 to 4, but programmatically these ports are numbered from 0 to 3.

We remove all previously installed logical interfaces installed by default in the factory configuration.

and create a new layer 2 interface (ETH WAN) to connect to the Internet.

As the WAN port for connecting to the Internet, select eth3/eth3 (physical port on the LAN4 router).
In the menu “Advanced settings” > “WAN service” we create a logical interface:
    — The WAN interface should be automatically configured based on the ETH WAN settings,
    — select the WAN service type PPPoE,
    — in the fields “PPP Username” and “PPP Password” you must enter the data received from the provider.
    — In the “Routing - Default Gateway” and “DNS Server Configuration” windows, the created WAN interface, for example ppp1.1, should be selected as the selected default gateway interface.
If all settings have been entered correctly, after pressing the “Apply/Save” button, the @ indicator will flash green.

Setting up IP-TV when using ADSL

For the IP-TV service to work, you need to add a new virtual channel (PVC). To do this, open the menu “Advanced settings” > “Layer 2 interface” > “ATM PVC interface” and click the “Add” button

We correct VPI, VCI to the IP-TV services required for operation (for example, VPI=0, VCI=38), set the remaining settings as in the picture below:

After clicking the “Apply/Save” button, a new interface will appear in the virtual channel table. In the “Advanced settings” > “WAN service” menu, add a service for IPTV.
Select the parameter atm1(0_0_38), after clicking the “Next” button, select the type of WAN service – bridging and save the settings.

Setting up IP-TV when using FTTB

We connect the LAN cable from the TV set-top box to the LAN1 port of the router. In the “Advanced settings” > “WAN service” menu, click the “Add” button

We select the WAN port (in our example it is the eth3/eth3 interface), set the WAN service type to Bridging and save the settings.

    Interface grouping

Grouping of interfaces is necessary to separate video traffic on the client’s local network and allocate the IP address of the set-top box from the provider’s network, and not from the router’s DHCP server.
To configure grouping, open “Advanced settings” > “Interface grouping” and click the “Add” button:
In the group name field, specify the name of the group, for example iptv.
Move the WAN interface br_eth to the left field “Grouped WAN”,
We transfer the interfaces to which our TV set-top box will connect from available to grouped, as shown below.

In this example, the LAN cable from the set-top box must be connected to the LAN1 port of the router. If you have 2 set-top boxes, then you need to combine two ports eth0 and eth1 into an IPTV group, respectively, connect the set-top boxes to the LAN1 and LAN2 ports of the router.

In some cases, setting up a grouping on the Sagemcom Fast 2804 router may lead to the inoperability of interactive television from Rostelecom. As a rule, this is accompanied by an error on the TV screen “No IP address”. In this situation, you need to delete the created grouping and after rebooting the router, check the operation of the TV service.

    Wi-Fi settings overview

By default, Wi-Fi is enabled and active. Information for connecting to a Wi-Fi network is indicated on a sticker on the bottom of the router. The network name and password can be replaced with your own in the “WLAN Settings” menu section

To increase the security of your Wi-Fi connection, it is recommended to use WPA2-PSK encryption.

The maximum number of connected devices via a wireless network for the Sagemcom Fast 2804 router is 16.

The speed when using a wi-fi connection in practice will not exceed 20 Mbit/s.
