• A clone of the Velocity RDA, as well as impressions of the Chinese Clapton. Velocity-like racks, Velocity RDA review Installing coils on a velocity rack

Reading time: 2 minutes. Published 04/13/2018

Velocity 22 mm drip tip (simply too big) is an excellent option for beginners, easy to use. It is easy to install windings, change cotton wool, and refill with liquid. You can insert very large spirals and achieve flavor and bulk. Subsequently, many manufacturers copied the rack layout from this RDA.

    Equipment:

The device is located in a small black cardboard box. It includes:

    1. Dripka
    2. Adapter 510
    3. Spare screws, key, orings

To the minimum and nothing superfluous.

The side holes can be rotated to close and open additional top airflow.

    Advantages:

    • thanks to the connectors, it is difficult to bite the spiral with screws when tightening
    • The racks are positioned perfectly for easy installation of coils
    • deep bath in the base, enough for 5-6 puffs
    • good price when buying a clone

    Flaws:

    • no single-helix mode
    • poor quality thread on the drytop

What kind of windings can be made and what should they be placed on?

In order to maximize the taste of Velocity V2, you need to install it on a mod that produces at least 100 watts. If you plan to put it on, then you can do this, but there will be no bright flavor, only smokiness and a slight taste.

    About spirals:

The holes in the racks of the Velocity drip allow you to install from two to four coils. It is not recommended to wind kleptons and fuses here, as they do not reveal all the capabilities of this model.

As an option, wind four spirals (kanthal) with a diameter of 2.5 mm, 10 turns each. The output resistance is 0.27 Ohm. When using top and bottom airflow, you can set 100 watts.

I think there are no people left who would not know this RDA like from the company Avid Vaper. Moreover, it seems to me that most of us not only know it, but also have at least one copy in our collection, at least a clone. And some are even original (although, to be honest, clones are now almost no worse, and the cost of the original always seemed to me to be too much).

The reason for such popularity, in my opinion, lies in the extremely successful design of the base. It is very convenient to wind, and any beginner can handle it. The Velocity style base is generally a trend for 2016, we can see it absolutely everywhere, from tanks to RDAs from various manufacturers.

It was all the more interesting for me to discover that Avid Vaper decided to release a second, updated version of their most popular dripper. The update practically did not affect the appearance at all, but the technical part has undergone changes that will affect both convenience and taste.

    Appearance:

Externally Velocity V2 practically no different from the first version. Well, perhaps the very attentive will notice that the drip tip has become a little shorter. Exactly 3mm, judging by the manufacturer’s statement. This was done to improve the taste.

The drip tip is still available in two colors - black and steel.

Do you see a couple of dots? These points mark the position of the topcap in relation to the base. This way, you won’t have to spend a long time looking for the location of the airflow holes and wondering if you hit the spiral; you can always find your way around them. It's a small thing, but it's an incredibly convenient little thing.

    View in analysis:

You can see a complete set of spare parts in the photo above. Herself Velocity V2 disassembles into 3 parts: base, body and drip tip. Also included is an adapter for a 510 threaded drip tip. All this has been familiar to us since the first version.

    Base, racks:

But the base is one of the main “goodies” that await us with Velocity V2 RDA. Firstly, the holes of the racks have increased, and secondly, the racks themselves have become thicker and stronger.

    Now windings like this:

    Or this one:

Not a problem at all for Velocity V2.

The depth of the liquid well is 5.5mm.

But that's not all. Now Velocity has a central contact, which can be either regular or for vaping on squonk mods/bottom feeders (that is, mods that have a reservoir of liquid that is supplied to the RDA through a hole in the central contact of the connector).

    This design looks like this:

That is, the central part of the central pin unscrews and opens the feed hole. I think it's a cool solution.

    Airflow:
The airflow has also been changed. The manufacturer claims that the indirect air holes (round) are now positioned more correctly and will work better than before.

The horizontal holes are also here to stay. Their sizes are 2x8mm. Diameter of indirect airflow holes - 2mm. This is a damn cloud of air that will cool the steam from the most evil "boilers" you might think of installing here.

    Specifications:
    • Material: 304 stainless steel
    • Diameter: 22mm
    • Height (without drip tip): 25mm
    • Number of racks: 2
    • Rack holes: 4

    Conclusions:
Quite a worthy update, in my opinion. The manufacturer definitely spent a lot of time thinking about what exactly needs to be changed. Here you have more durable stands with larger holes and a connector with a hole for use with squonk mods and redesigned airflow, and even such a simple, but no less pleasant little detail, like dots engraved on the body, allowing you to quickly understand how the body is positioned relative to the base , well, a reduced evaporation chamber is actually just what the doctor ordered, given that the taste characteristics of the first version did not satisfy everyone.
    Price:
At the time of publication the price Velocity V2 RDA amounts to $125.00 . You can buy it at

Velocity literally translates as speed, but in vaper circles the drip is more often called simply “great.” Velocity rda at one time made a lot of noise in the world of vaping, and many manufacturers adopted convenient velocity racks. Velik promised to be easy to maintain and produce huge clouds of steam. In general, after reading this kind of information, I started thinking about purchasing my first drip device and the choice fell on it.

    Prehistory

The original drip costs more than $100, so, like most vapers, we opted for a high-quality clone. My choice was between the steel and black versions, but I still chose the steel Velocity. Although you can order either a green or a pink version from our Asian friends – it’s a matter of taste. I placed an order in the Chinese online store “FastTech” and all I could do was wait. About three weeks passed and I received the long-awaited package. I grabbed the Velocity RDA and hurried home to start unpacking.

    Equipment

Velocity comes in a small black box, nothing fancy. Although the package is quite good and includes everything you need: a drip tip, an adapter for 510 drip type, a hex key, spare screws, orings and a pin. As well as ready-made spirals that are no good, you can immediately put them aside.

    Drip top

I really liked the wide drip top, which fits perfectly into this 22 mm drip tip. During all this time I had no desire to screw in an adapter to a standard 510 drip type, and besides, it spoils the aesthetic appearance of the drip tip. The disadvantages include the fact that the drip top and 510 adapter are held on Delrin threads. Only the Chinese God knows how long this thread will last, so I recommend not to tug or twist it again.

    Airflow and design

By turning the top cap you can unwind it. Here we see the thread and O-ring. We have side airflow. There are also six small holes, opening which we will get additional, top airflow. They wanted a large amount of steam - they opened all the holes, wanted to emphasize the taste, blocked the top one and reduced the side one. There will be no difficulties with the adjustment and everyone can adjust it to suit themselves, in general the airflow is good. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. When putting on a top cap, we do not necessarily need to ensure that the side airflow holes are opposite the spiral. For this purpose, there is a protrusion on the base, and a recess inside the top cap. We put on the top cap and turn until it clicks, this means the top cap is seated correctly and the airflow holes are exactly opposite the spirals.

    Convenient racks

As for the racks. If you are an experienced vaper, you have probably heard about “Velocity racks” more than once. So these are these legendary stands, which many manufacturers began to install on their atomizers. Their advantage is simplicity and convenience; even a beginner can handle them. In each rack we see two fairly large holes, and the distance between the racks is sufficient. In total, this gives us the opportunity to install fatty spirals in quantities from 2 to 4 pieces. The positive stand is removable and is clamped with a pin, the negative one is part of the base. You can find fault with the racks that are slightly inclined towards the center. That is, perfectionists can get bombed. This doesn’t bother me much, but I think it’s necessary to mention it. There is also no possibility to use the drip device in single-coil mode. This fact may upset some people. Personally, I always use drips with two coils, even if it is possible to install one.

    Liquid tray

The bath is deep enough, and this is very important for drip. A deep bath will allow you to hold more liquid and require less refilling. As for refueling. Due to the generally successful design, it is not necessary to remove the top cap every time in order to wet the cotton wool. I just dig in from above through the drip top, trying to get it in the center. Velocity will forgive you this laziness. The same cannot be said about drips with bottom airflow. With them you need to pay more attention to wetting the cotton, because otherwise you will simply fill the airflow holes. Also, if you haven’t evaporated the liquid in the Velocity drip, you can completely turn on the airflow and put the device in your pocket without worrying about the liquid leaking out. The most important thing is not to turn it upside down.

    Design

The design of the Velika is controversial, but I liked it. If you look at the dripper from the side, you can see pareidolia in the form of a positive face, this often cheers me up. I find the design and construction very simple and reliable. Drippa has not lost its relevance over the years and a large number of vapers use it to this day.

    Pros and cons

So, let's weigh all the advantages and disadvantages.

    The disadvantages include:

    1. Lack of single-spiral mode;
    2. Slightly inclined racks towards the center;
    3. And Delrin thread on the drip top.

    Pros of Velocity RDA:

    1. Wide drip top;
    2. Rich equipment;
    3. Good airflow;
    4. Convenient racks;
    5. Deep bath;
    6. Reliability and simplicity;
    7. Design and build quality;
    8. Low price, I want to remind you that this is a clone!

    Results

Overall, I am completely satisfied with my purchase. For a small amount of money I received a high-quality clone of the legendary dripper, which gave me a lot of positive emotions. “Velik” allows you to exhale huge clouds of steam, and the airflow copes with oily windings and can be customized to suit you. This drip tip is perfect for both beginners and advanced users. Thanks to the ease of maintenance, beginners will not have any difficulties. And if you are an advanced user and you get bored, you can experiment and, for example, install 4 spirals.

    Taste

Some might say that there are tastier drips. Don't get me wrong, the taste is actually good, but Velocity is inferior in this regard to drips with bottom airflow and this is the norm.

    Is Velocity worth buying now?

The choice, as always, is yours. But personally, I think that Velik is still relevant and has identified several main groups of people who will be interested in this drip. These are beginners, steam maniacs, fans of Velicity stands and collectors. But if you are chasing new products on the market or prefer drips with bottom airflow, then there are plenty of other offers for you.

And also don’t forget that when buying a clone, you always run the risk of getting a low-quality drip device. For example, they will encounter low-quality screws or poor processing. Buy clones from trusted places.

This information will be useful exclusively to users of electronic cigarettes.
I present a brief overview of the clone of the famous Velocity dripper and my impressions of using the Chinese clapton wire. In short - very pleased! The rest is under the cut...

I decided to try out the capabilities of a clone of the well-known Velocity dripper, I ordered it from the seller, it was sent on October 14th, the parcel was received in Yekaterinburg on October 28th! Pretty fast. It went through Finland.

The workmanship is VERY good (see photos) I could not find any differences from the original (from the photos). The o-rings are of high quality (not like, for example, the absolutely lousy o-rings WOTOFO Troll RDA).
In stock there are 4 screws, spare o-rings, 2 spirals that look like they are made of 0.5 kanthal and an hex key.

    drip Velocity

The base has 2 contacts, nothing dangles, the depth for juice is significant - a decent amount of liquid comes in, enough for about 10, maybe even 15 puffs!
The dripka is designed for installing 2 coils, the installation is very convenient, fastening the ends of the coil one above the other, or diagonally. For fastening, hex head screws are used - in my opinion, they are more successful because they are flat, better secure the legs of the spiral and are more compact compared to ordinary screws for a Phillips screwdriver!

The kit also includes a wide bore tip and an adapter for a 510 drip tip (one of the available ones is installed in the photo). The drip tip has a double air supply, a horizontal adjustable hole directly at the level of the spirals and holes above the spirals around the perimeter the housings are also separately adjustable!

The steam generation is excellent - it seemed to me that it was more than Troll’s, the taste transfer is superb, both with a wide drytop and with a regular 510m...

In general, I highly recommend purchasing, especially because the price tag is 2-3 times lower than those existing offline and even some Moscow online stores!

Clapton wire was also sampled there.

The price tag is not cheap, for 5 m they ask for almost 600 rubles, but it is still much cheaper than in most online stores. Came in an excellent plastic box on a reel. The quality of the winding is excellent! Very well done. I took a winding of 0.2mm kanthal onto 0.4mm kanthal! 5 turns per 3 mm base gives about 0.85 Ohm.

I've read on forums that they say Chinese canthal smells like Chinese hands and socks, and is also of low quality - I can't say for that, there was no smell, no metallic taste, it soars just fine! heats up evenly.
The photo shows photos of the packaging, as well as the actual appearance on the Velocity drip.
In general, I also highly recommend it!

    Chinese Clapton

I tried to wind the canthal myself, it didn’t work on the Troll - I threw it away, when installed in double helix mode, the resistance is about 0.5 Ohm, but the heat generation is wild and I can’t vape normally - the body of the drip tip and the drip tip get very hot, there is no difference in taste from my favorite type of winding noticed (more about him below)

    homemade clapton

Now I really like the triple twisted coil - a triple braid made of kanthal - it is done quickly, works extremely efficiently, does not overheat the drip, whether when using one coil or when installing two coils. Resistance is about 0.9 Ohm when installing two coils (winding 3x0.2mm Kanthal braid, on a 3mm base, 11 turns). The only negative is that the resulting product is quite springy - you need to wind the coil and install it slowly!

    triple braid

    Thanks everyone and good luck!

I'm planning to buy +8 Add to favorites I liked the review +10 +25

Good day everyone, dear readers of the varivolt website!
Now I would like to discuss with you one interesting topic that concerns the sensational velocity racks. The article will most likely be aimed at beginners who are just getting acquainted with the world of vaping.
Before we get to the main topic, let's Let's look at the bases that are now common in tanks and drips.

Three-post base– Probably the most common type of serviced base. Initially, many double-spiral drippers used only 3 racks, namely 2 negative drains and 1 positive one. For example, tugboat rda, kennedy rda, atty rda and others.

Later, for more convenient installation and centering of the spiral, the central the positive rack was made double and there are now 2 holes in the positive strut. This type of base is now used in many double-coil tanks and drips, for example zephyrus v2, twisted messes, mutation v4, etc.

Towards the end of 2015, it became trendy two-post base.
Everything is simple here: 2 racks and 2 large holes. One stand is positive, the other is negative. In principle, such racks are quite convenient. But when installing two spirals in such racks, I usually experience inconvenience. Prominent representatives of such a database are Phenotype-L RDA, double vision rda, bellus rta and others.

At the moment, these are one of the most common types of serviced bases (drip tanks and double-spiral tanks)

And of course Velocity-like base (velocity style deck)
At the moment this is probably the most convenient type of base. These are 2 racks in each of which there are 2 large holes, and the clamping screws are on the side. Thanks to this, it is very easy to install spirals here, and besides, such racks allow you to install a variety of spirals. Both vertical and horizontal spirals can be installed with ease.

The first device in which such a base was implemented Velocity RDA by AdivVaper and Dino Ferrari. The original of this device costs a little bit and as much as $125, you’ll agree that it’s quite a lot even for an original drip =) But on the Internet there are a lot of clones of this drip, one of which we will consider in detail but a little later.

Everyone responded very well to Velocity and it became very popular. Convenient stands were the most important feature of this drip device, and many manufacturers quickly jumped in and began creating their own devices with the same stands.
In my opinion, the company that does this best is Geekvape, which released the Griffin tank. It has gained a lot of popularity at the moment.

They also recently released the Tsunami drip device, in which these same stands have been slightly modified.
Now there are a lot of devices with a velocite-like base: Cthulhu v2, Crius RTA, Griffin RTA, of course Velocity RDA, Mad Hatter v2, Fishbone plus, tsunami can be listed for a very, very long time, because More and more devices are appearing with such a base.

Well, now let’s look at the founder of this innovation.
We will consider a clone from a very popular site called fasttech.
The Velocity RDA arrives in a regular, nondescript box. There is no point in looking at it, let's look inside.

Inside are a couple of packets of supplements and the drip itself. The kit can be called quite good: four spare hex screws, a hex wrench, three spare orings, an adapter for a 510 drip tip and a nice addition - a special pin (Bottom feeder) with a hole for liquid supply.

However, to use this pin you need a special box mod. But for fans of squonk mods this is a very nice addition.

Also included are “excellent” pre-wound silica coils. Why they are included with this drip device remains a question for me. The Chinese apparently still have not gotten rid of their silica reserves. =)
    Total included:

    • Spare orings
    • Four spare screws
    • Hex key
    • Adapter for 510 drip tip
    • Bottom feeder pin
    • And funny pre-wound spirals
    Dimensions.
    • Diameter: 22mm
    • Height with included drip tip: 41 mm
    • Height with adapter for 510 drip tip: 33 mm
    • Weight: 41 grams
Well, let's finally take a closer look at Velocity rda.

The drip tip itself consists of 4 parts: drip tip, airflow adjustment section, skirt (drip body) and base.

Let's start with the drip tip.
Wide bore drip tip is wide and is held in place by a threaded connection. There is nothing unusual about it.

The adapter for 510 drip tip is, I would say, not made in the best way. It is also screwed onto the thread and forms a podium. Doesn't look great to me =)

    Airflow and airflow adjustment.
I really like the way the adjustment is done. It can be adjusted very precisely to your tightening. There are 2 types of airflow in the drip. Directed in spirals and non-directional which blows completely through the evaporation chamber. Directional airflow is made in the form of a large longitudinal hole, and non-directional airflow is made in the form of small round holes, which are located along the entire diameter of the drip tip.

Because of this combination, you can achieve a huge amount of steam due to the large amount of air, but the taste will be lost. The adjustment works here very simply and competently. The section that regulates the airflow moves up and down along the thread. Thus, the longitudinal hole for directional airflow of the spirals becomes wider or narrower. The non-directional airflow holes on the skirt are made of longitudinal vertical holes, so we can always open or close them.
I think we figured out the airflow and adjustment, I tried to explain it practically on my fingers) I hope I succeeded
Let's move on to the skirt.
It clearly shows the thread along which the adjustment moves, and there is also an oring installed, thanks to which the adjustment section moves quite tightly and will not just get lost.
Airflow holes are visible on the skirt, which we have already discussed in detail.
In the upper part of the skirt there is a thread (the complete drip tip and spacer are screwed onto it) which takes up sufficient space and reduces the evaporation chamber.

Let's take a look inside. A small hemispherical treatment is immediately visible, and the drip tip and spacer are screwed in flush.

There are also 2 steps and a pair of recesses. The bottom step, which is located at the base of the skirt, is designed to prevent the base from falling deep into the skirt. Next there are 2 recesses for the orings, which are located on the base.

The next stage also rests on the base, or rather on the sides of the liquid bath, but it also reduces the size of the evaporation chamber.
All these reductions in the evaporation chamber have a positive effect on the taste.
There is also a very small recess, but it carries a large semantic load. We will focus on this a little later.

    Base.
And here is the main guest of the program. Those same racks, named after the drip device in which they first appeared.
The drains are quite thick, and the holes in them are about 2.5 mm. I deliberately did not remove the spirals so that you could see how they are installed. Because the legs of the spiral are in different planes (one at the top, the other at the bottom - roughly speaking) we insert one leg into the lower hole and the other into the upper one. There are no problems with the centering of the spiral, as there are on three-post bases. After all, after installation, the spiral is already in the center.)))
It is very difficult to bite the legs in such racks. Because the leg in the hole is between the screw and the flat part. But there are also variations of these stands with through holes for screws, in such cases it will not be difficult to bite the leg.
In the clone, the racks are not made of very high quality, or rather the plus rack. It is tilted towards the center because The screw that is screwed into this stand is very tight and the insulator under the stand sags a little, which is why it tilts. You can also see the gap between the insulator and the wall of the base; this is also the consequence of a not very strong insulator.
Otherwise the base is pretty good.

The depth of the liquid bath is about 6mm, the liquid fits here decently, which is good news.
You can also clearly see 2 black orings that hold the skirt well. Just in the skirt there are holes for these orings.
But you can see a small protrusion near the negative pillar, it’s there for a reason.

Remember the recess in the skirt? So this protrusion is combined with a recess in the skirt, a kind of lock. It is needed so that when putting on a skirt, the airflow is directed correctly, straight onto the spiral. It also prevents the skirt from spinning around the base, which allows you to easily twist or twist the drip cap from the mod. It seems like a small thing, but very useful.

A deeply engraved serial number is visible on the bottom of the base. And also a customizable copper positive pin for a slotted screwdriver. Even when fully screwed, it sticks out very well, which gives us the green light to use mech mods with a hybrid connector.
Having unscrewed the pin, we will see another screw, which just holds the positive stand. It also fits a slotted screwdriver and it won’t be difficult to unscrew it.

About laying cotton wool I won't say much. There is basically nothing to tell here. We place the ends of the cotton wool in the bath, but the cotton wool itself should not be under the spiral. That's it.

    Total:
Velocity RDA brought such innovation as convenient stands. Now they are very popular and many manufacturers sell them in their devices, both in tanks and in drips.
Even though Velocity RDA came out a long time ago, it still remains relevant. It has an original design, I would say excellent, everything here is done according to the theme. And I don’t even know what I can find fault with here, if only the “stubborn” appearance. After all, many remember it precisely as a “stubborn drip.”
But I’ll also say a little about the clone that we looked at. It costs only 8 dollars. Is it high quality? At many points I will say yes. For $8, this is just a great drip. I simply cannot find fault with the quality of such a cheap clone. There is only a moment with the stand, which is slightly inclined towards the center. That's it.
    Cons

    • The stand is tilted towards the center (minus the clone).
    • Unaesthetic appearance when using a spacer for a 510 drip tip.
    • For some, the lack of airflow on only one spiral will be a minus.
    Pros
    • Convenient racks with large holes.
    • Good taste and a lot of steam.
    • Excellent airflow adjustment (everyone can customize it for themselves).
    • Deep bath for liquid.
    • “Key” that allows you to correctly align the skirt and base (and makes the skirt immovable)
    • Not a bad package (for a clone, because I don’t know what equipment the original has)
