• Superposition of two photos in Photoshop. Free photomontage. How to overlay a suit in Photoshop

Do you want to create a beautiful photo collage by combining two pictures into one image? Use the program "Home Photo Studio". In it, you can easily cope with this task. In the article, we will tell you how to overlay an image on an image in this editor.

Step 1. Install "Home Photo Studio"

First you need to download a simple photo editor on PC. The download will not take much time, since the distribution package of the application weighs only 80 megabytes. Double click on the created file. A special wizard will instantly appear on the screen in front of you. Follow its instructions, then you will quickly install the program on your computer. Select the folder where the software files will be unpacked, start the installation process and wait for it to finish, and then get to work.

    Step 2: Combine Photos

So, you have installed and launched the program. What's next? Everything is simple! In the start menu, click on the "Open photo" button and specify the path to the picture you want to edit. The selected photo card will appear in the work area in a moment. Now open the Appearance menu and select Photo Montage. A new window will appear on the screen. Here you can figure out how to overlay an image on an image.

Add a base photo for the montage

Click the button Add Layer > Photo and select the photo you want to add over the original. Adjust the location of the second photo: grab it with the mouse and drag it to the desired location. Adjust the image size if necessary. To do this, drag the cursor over one of the corners. Optionally, set the rotation for the photo. Move the slider on the scale located on the settings panel on the right.

Overlay the second photo and rotate to the desired angle

Step 3. Adjust the borders of the photo

Naturally, simply adding one photo on top of another for high-quality editing will not be enough. Most likely, you will need to adjust the size of the new image. Luckily, this can also be done within the app. In the menu on the right, click "Crop Photo". Choose a cropping shape: magic wand, rectangle, oval, or freeform, then use the frame to select the part of the picture you want to keep. Don't forget to adjust the border blur, and then save all your edits.

Cut out a shape from a photo

In the "Home Photo Studio" there is another way to harmoniously fit one image into another. It's about masks. To apply one of them to a photo, click the Set Mask button. Select the appropriate design in the catalog and click "Apply". The tool is especially suitable if you have to edit photos in the style of vintage, retro, etc.

    Apply a beautiful mask

Step 4: Set Your Blending Mode

You have learned how to overlay one image over another. Then you can continue working in the editor and improve the resulting composition using other tools built into the program. For example, in the same photomontage window, you can set the blending mode of pictures. Click on the drop-down list in the menu on the right and select one of the nine available options. If everything suits you, click "Apply".

    Adjust the Blending Mode

If you wish, you can increase or decrease the brightness, contrast and saturation of the photo in advance, perform lighting correction, add a stylish frame to the photo ... You can learn more about all the possibilities if you go. Save the photo to your computer by clicking the floppy disk icon in the control panel.

Fabulous! You have learned how to overlay one image over another. The program "Home Photo Studio" will become your reliable assistant in the field of photo processing, will help to improve any image in a short time and make high-quality photo editing. Just install it on your computer and transform your pictures!

Hi all! Today I will talk about how to overlay one image on top of another with transparency in Photoshop. Of course, most people who at least somehow work in Photoshop know how to do it, since it's really the basics. But I have already received messages several times by mail and in a personal message on VK with a request to explain how to superimpose fragments on a separate photo. Someone wants to put on a beard and a suit, and someone just wants to transfer himself to Paris. You can download all the materials used in this lesson.

    Overlay with transparency

If you need to move an object to a different background, then this function will certainly help you. To do this, you will need a background image and an object on a transparent background in PNG format. If your subject is on a normal background, then you will have to, and after that you can merge the two photos.

I decided to transfer the duck to the pond image.

How to cut a face in Photoshop and paste it into another photo

Naturally, you can not just superimpose one picture on another, but do it with faces. At the very least, you can transfer the face of a friend and girlfriend to a completely alien body, or see how you will look in a skirt. In fact, face swapping is also used in more professional areas.

For this we need photos of two different people. I decided to take a photo of two Hollywood actors Nicolas Cage and John Travolta. Together they starred in the movie Face Off. But there it looked very improbable, since not only the faces differ, but also the physique, the shape of the skull, and much more.

    1. Let's open two photos in different tabs. I most of all prefer the Drag and Drop method, that is, select the desired images and transfer them to Photoshop with the left mouse button pressed. After that, they will open in turn in different tabs.
    2. Now we take any selection tool, for example "", and begin to select the face of John Travolta, capturing the forehead and chin. But we don't need hair.
    3. Now take the Move tool, then hold down the left mouse button inside the selection, and then move it to the tab with Nicolas Cage until it opens. After that, we point our selected part somewhere on the picture and release the mouse button.
    4. When the photo of Travolta is on a new layer, reduce its opacity by at least 25-30 percent. to make it easier for us to work.
    5. Now let's start fitting. As you can see, the picture with John was bigger, and his head was slightly tilted. Therefore, we all need to adjust. To get started, call Free Transform by pressing the keyboard shortcut CTRL+T, and then drag the corners, remembering to press the key SHIFT to approximate the size.
    6. Now move the cursor just above the corner so that it changes to rotate mode. After that, hold down the left mouse button, and start rotating the transferred object in that direction so that the face is as straight as Cage.
    7. Now transfer Travolta's translucent face onto Cage to see if the nose, mouth and eyes match the correct size. Great, we did everything on the same level. after that you can press Enter to apply the transformation.
    8. Now we need to remove or cut off the rest of the skin that is protruding beyond the cranium. To do this, you can use the eraser tool and simply erase the unwanted area. It is only desirable to press the right mouse button and set the hardness to 0 percent so that the borders are as soft as possible.
    9. We managed to superimpose one photo on another and the face seems to be ready, but the shade of them does not match a little, so you have to change the tone a little. You can use the same method that we removed the redness from the face in Photoshop, or use the patch tool. To do this, select "Patch" and circle the frontal part, which belongs to Nicolas Cage. After that, hold down the right mouse button and drag it over a piece of travolta leather to replace that part.
    10. Basically everything. You can only run the healing brush over the forehead crease so that it does not duplicate the existing one.

Now we have a real John Cage or Nicholas Travolta. Yeah. Of course, they have a completely different type of faces, but I think you get the idea.

Cutting a face in Photoshop and pasting it into another photo is not at all difficult. It remains only to correctly adjust the size, match the nose, eyes, mouth, skin color and other factors. Unfortunately, we ended up with a very large forehead, but this is not surprising, looking at their head shapes.

How to overlay a suit in Photoshop

You can overlay one picture on another with transparency in Photoshop not only for fun. Today, this method is used in various photo salons and not only. This is especially true when you need to take a photo for documents. Yes, now you do not need to specially wear a suit or police uniform in order to be photographed for a passport or identity card. You can even come in a torn T-shirt, and you can easily impose a suit in Photoshop.

Now Justin Timberlake can be pasted into documents. We do the same with other costumes, with hairstyles, mustaches, beards or even scars. It is enough to find on the Internet in any search engine to ask something like "Cop Costume png" or "Men's hairstyles with a transparent background". The principle of operation is the same: open, transfer, adjust the size and deform.

For example, I'll take the same photo we just worked on, and then I'll add a new hairstyle, beard and scar to Timberlake.

Now, I hope that you understand how to overlay one image on top of another with transparency in Photoshop to add the necessary elements, and radically change the photo. With overlay, you can make collages, overlay suits for documents, change hairstyles, add fragments that were not there before, and much more. As you can see, there are many applications.

By the way, I remember one funny incident. A friend of mine 10 years ago had to load a truck with cargo by a certain time (some bags with no idea what). But by the appointed time, he did not manage to do anything. Then he photographed separately the empty body of the van and pallets with bags, after which he asked a friend to put them there using Photoshop. He did everything without any problems, after which the photo was sent to the authorities. The photo rolled and no one knew that they were late with the loading.

That's all for me. But if you do not know Photoshop well or do not know it at all, then I recommend that you look at these wonderful video tutorials. This is the best beginner course I have ever seen. All lessons are structured and go from simple to complex. The material is simply bombastic and is absorbed literally on the fly. And most importantly, everything is told in an accessible language for any category of users. Highly recommend.

Well, this is where I end. I hope my article was helpful to you. Therefore, be sure to subscribe to my blog updates, as well as to my social networks, the icons of which are located in the sidebar. I look forward to welcoming you again. Bye bye!

    Sincerely, Dmitry Kostin.

Photoshop: how to overlay one image on top of another? Photoshop is a program with a large set of tools for working with graphics. Today we will look at how to cut out an image and overlay it on another.

One of the advantages of Photoshop (photoshop) is that each new element with which we work is reflected in a separate layer and working on it does not affect the previous layers (images).

In order to cut out a picture in Photoshop, you need to do the following, select the layer we need and use one of the selection tools.
Having marked the area we need, we select the “Editing” item from the “Menu” in which we select the “Copy” operation (for copying) and the “Cut” operation (to cut out the part of the image that is marked from the picture).

Due to the fact that these images are presented as separate layers, we can overlay them on top of each other, make them transparent, make gradients and perform many other operations, apply filters.

    Opening the file

We launch our favorite program, and then through the File-Open commands (File-Open, if you are using the English version), we create a clean file. Pay attention to the extensions that you will work with: it is better to leave in the types only the one that belongs to the file you are looking for. So, the desired image has opened.

    Tasks:
There are two images available. The background in the picture with the running horse does not suit us, so it will be done so that it is against the background of the seascape. For this:
    1. Create a new file for the future image;
    2. Separately place the horse and sea views on different layers;
    3. Cut out after selecting the animal from the original photo;
    4. We give the new photo as natural as possible.
And now let's go through the points in detail.

    New file
The dimensions of the new file will be set to 500 X 375, the same as the photo with the sea. Then it is required to create two layers in it: “horse” and “sea”, and the “sea” layer should be located under the “horse layer”. Names are assigned by right-clicking. In the drop-down context menu in the Layer Properties (Layer Properties) we give the layers understandable names.

The program now has three windows with files: the original ones with a horse and the sea, as well as a new one. The last window will be the active window.

We place the sea on the layer of the same name by moving this window to the active state - click on it, it becomes the last one. Next: select the entire image (after all, we need the entire landscape) through Selection -> All (Select -> All) or Ctrl + A. The signal that the window is selected will be the appearance of a frame of "running ants".

Then we copy (Ctrl + C) and transfer it by clicking to the workspace, where the horse will already be against the background of the sea. Now on the layer of the same name we can observe the landscape.
We perform the same operations with the Horse layer, and after that the two initial pictures can be closed: this way they will not interfere with further actions.

    Selecting a horse

Since the horse is a figure with complex lines, you can use these methods to select. You can use quick selection, which is called by clicking the left mouse button. After opening the toolbox selection window, you should select the magic wand: it will select all adjacent areas of the zone that you click on. The reason is that the wand recognizes the colors of the pixel and its neighbors, which become active. We will need the following values for the magic wand parameter.

Tolerance can be set to a value from 0 to 255. At 0, the wand recognizes only one shade, at 32 - in the range of 32 shades, etc. We need to set the value to 100.

Then you should check the Anti-aliased box so that the fragment borders are smooth. Be sure to select Adjacent pixels (Contigous) so that the magic wand captures pixels in the neighboring areas of the selected area. We need to deselect Sample All Layers, otherwise the effect will spread to everything, and we need to work only with the horse layer.

After selecting the horse itself, you will see that the selection is not quite perfect, but for now it is important for us to get the contours of the animal's figure. Click Ctrl+Z or the tool until the selection suits you.

To remove the extra environment, select Selection – Inversion (Select- Inverse). Then we press Del, and we have only the carved horse for work, but already against the background of sea waves. We remove the selection (Selection - Remove selection), and then we try to remove the grass that was captured along with the horse.

Let's use the Loupe tool (it is shown with a plus) by clicking on the panel. Having zoomed in on the part where the grass remained, left-click on the Lasso. In the panel of this tool selects the magnetic lasso: it will select areas along with dragging the cursor. The border of the area will be tied to the closest shade of color corresponding to the borders of our horse.

By clicking, it will be possible to create an intermediate point, and then move the mouse along the borders of the horse's limbs. Intermediate points will disappear with the closure of the contours - only the selected area will remain. Press Del, click on the magnifying glass with a minus, reduce the image to working size.

To create a natural environment for the limbs, create a new layer where we will place the sand image. We take the Pipette and select the color of sand we need with it. Next, in the Brush options, select the one that will resemble sand in texture.
The toolkit in Adobe Photoshop is quite wide, so you have several ways to select an object in a picture at once, each of which is suitable for its own case. We will not consider them all, but only the main ones.

    1. Selection with the Magic Wand Tool

The Magic Wand is one of the easiest selection tools to use. Perfect if you have a simple object to highlight or, conversely, a simple background, as in our case.

To select an object using the magic wand, right-click on the Quick Selection tool and select the magic wand from the additional menu that appears.

The essence of the magic wand is that it allows you to select objects in the image that are as close as possible in color. For example, in our picture there is a white background, respectively, it will be convenient for us to select it with the help of a magic wand, and then invert the image so that the flower is selected.

To do this, simply click on the white background, after which the magic wand carefully selects it. We just have to invert the selection, so we press the key combination Ctrl + Shift + I, after which the selection is transferred to the flower.

For more complex objects, you can adjust the tolerance level - an indicator that allows you to include colors that are close in hue. The higher this indicator, the more shades of the selected color will be included in the selection, respectively.

In order to make a few clicks of the magic stick on the image and not lose the selection, do not forget to set the "Add to selection" mode, which is located in the upper left corner of the window, or simply hold down the Ctrl key.

    2. Selection with the Magnetic Lasso Tool

Another useful smart selection tool that is a favorite of many Photoshop users. Its action is really magical: you select this tool, start trying to carefully trace along the contour, but even if you have misses, the selection on the object's contour will lie perfectly evenly, as if being magnetized.

To select the magnetic lasso, right-click on the Lasso tool and select the tool we need from the menu that appears.

The settings for the selected tool will be displayed in the upper area of the window. In the "Width" field, the number of pixels is set, i.e. the gap through which the lasso will draw a point. The smaller the number of pixels, the more accurate the result, respectively, but the more effort will have to be applied.

To start making selections with the magnetic lasso, simply hold down the left mouse button and start carefully tracing around the image. As soon as you release the mouse button, the selection will be applied.

If the magnetic lasso makes a mistake during the stroke, just press the Del key, which will delete the last added point. Press this key as many times as necessary until the desired number of points has been deleted.

    3. Using the "Color Range" function

A method that is already applicable to complex objects, but located in approximately the same color range. For example, using this function, you can ideally highlight water splashes.

To use this feature, click on the "Highlight" tab and open the "Color Range" section.

A window will appear on the screen, and the cursor will turn into the Eyedropper tool. Move the box to the side so that the image is visible, and then click on the object you want to select.

For example, in our example, the flower has purple petals. If you click on the lightest area with an eyedropper, then most likely the color range will also capture the white background, so in our case we need to click on the most saturated area.

Using the Scatter slider, move it to such a position that the selected area is as light as possible, and what should not be included in the selection remains black.

Apply your changes and your image will show a selection.

    4. Using the Quick Selection Tool and the Refine Edge Function

As the name “Quick Selection” implies, this tool is aimed at selecting simple objects. But due to the fact that we will slightly correct the edges of the selected object using the “Thin Edge” function, this method can be used to select quite complex objects.

Apply the "Quick Selection" tool, which is located in the same place as the magic wand.

To select with this tool, simply start clicking on the areas that need to be captured. In order for the tool to capture an additional area, hold down the Shift key or set the "Add to selection" option. To remove the extra selection that the tool has captured, hold down the Alt key and click on the extra selection.

Having finished with the selection of the object, we move on to thinning the edge. To do this, click on the "Select" tab and go to the "Thinn Edge" section.

A window will be displayed on the screen, and only the selected object will remain on your image in order to make it easier for you to evaluate the result. Using the sliders, achieve the most natural selection result, you can focus on the settings, as in the screenshot below.

To apply the settings, click the "OK" button, after which the window will be closed.

How to transfer the selected object to another image?

    1. Add a second image in Photoshop to which the selected object will be pasted.

    2. Go back to the first image and press Ctrl+C to copy the object.

    3. Go to the second image and paste the object into it with the Ctrl + V combination.

    4. Apply the Move tool and position the object in the desired area of the image.

    5. Press the key combination Ctrl+T to resize the object on the image, if necessary. To maintain the proportions of the object, do not forget to hold down the Ctrl key when resizing.
