• Pela Maria Hotel – Reviews. Pela Maria Hotel – Reviews Water Sports Center

    The first hotel that I would not recommend.
    The first time I vacationed in a hotel that I would not recommend to my friends. I haven't written reviews for a long time. I vacationed in three-star hotels in Spain, the Czech Republic, and the Emirates. If we compare: heaven and earth. I hoped that in Europe there were three stars, but still not like in Turkey. And according to reviews, everything was good. I think that the hotel is not worth the money that I paid for it. We were put in room 112. This is the room that goes directly to the pool. I immediately asked for a replacement, but since we arrived at one in the morning, they asked me to wait until the morning and said that they would leave a request. The next day I made this request to the guide, but they told me that there were no rooms available for the next three days. I am attaching photos of the room. The balcony door is wooden, with a lock that turns a quarter turn, the simplest mechanism. I have no confidence in such a lock, considering that this door opens to the pool. For the same reason, it is impossible to open the curtains, because right outside the balcony door and, as it were, a balcony, people sit and sunbathe on sunbeds almost around the clock. And at night they manage to swim in the pool. After twelve at night, hotel staff, of course, ask everyone to leave the pool. There is nowhere to dry things; nothing is provided for this. On your type of balcony, people put empty glasses and leave trash. The furniture is not very new. There was nowhere to put our suitcases; we had them on the floor in our room. There are also no shelves in the closet, the drawers are very small, it is inconvenient to fold clothes like that. By the way, someone wrote that the safe is for a deposit. Nothing of the kind. The safe costs 2 euros per day. Many people have already written about bathrooms; the floor is constantly wet. We had two towels for our feet, they were not just damp, they could be wrung out. And they didn't dry out. The girl who cleaned the room, instead of replacing them, hung them out on the balcony to dry. As I understand, the hotel changes towels and bed linen every three (maybe not three) days. And if on this very day you say that there is no need to clean, then wait for the next three days for a replacement; the next day no one will change anything for you.
    I decided to calmly wait for another room to become available. But on the third night I woke up to someone crawling on my arm. In the dark it seemed to me that it was a cockroach. Of course, it was impossible for me to fall asleep afterwards. In the morning I found a corpse (pictured). At the reception I was told that it was a bug. Although it’s not very pleasant in any case. The following nights I woke up and looked to see if anyone was crawling on the bed. So, after that night I already began to demand another number. To which I was told that for a good room and a view of mine I had to pay an extra 10 euros per day. Then they agreed to show us a room on the ground floor, but which faces the main street. Horseradish is no sweeter than radish. But at least in this room the furniture was newer and the balcony was not made of wood. I asked to look for a room on a higher floor. They said that not yet, but tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, maybe. These days we went on an excursion, and after that half of the vacation had already passed. We did not move, we decided not to spoil the mood with scandals. Before leaving, I talked with vacationers from Belarus, and they said that they, too, were initially placed in such a room and were moved only after paying 50 euros. The impression was that everyone was first accommodated in such a room, and then relocated with an additional payment. If they offered me to pay 50 euros extra, I would pay extra. But we stayed 11 nights and 10 euros for each night, that’s already 110 euros.
    The food is pretty mediocre. Breakfast is so good. Someone wrote that the omelette is plastic and impossible to eat. Confirming. The porridge is sweet, if anyone doesn’t like sweets, then without the porridge. Yogurt was sour, as were canned peaches. You can’t dream about any pancakes or scrambled eggs, they don’t exist. Fruits for breakfast: sliced apples, grapefruits, lemons in one tray. For lunch and dinner most often there were watermelons and melons. Melons are not particularly sweet. And when for lunch and dinner there is also only sliced fruit. Lunch and dinner: the choice of dishes is not large, you get tired of the same thing, sometimes a delicious dish is prepared, but not every day. We didn’t feel any pleasure from eating. Drinks: orange juice powder, grapefruit, water, coffee, tea, hot chocolate. The water is salty. They pour it into the machine. And when you pour hot water for tea, well, it tastes disgusting. This tea, like water, is impossible to drink. The tables are placed in such a way that you can’t get to the farthest ones without disturbing other people and asking them to let you through. The dishes are often not clean, the knives and forks are rusty.
    The bar is quite good, they serve wine, beer, raki, and cocktails.
    Pros: there is a lot of action on the street in the evening, who needs it. They party all night. The sea in Greece is warm and clear. This is the best thing ever. The beach is not far, we went right next to the hotel to the beach, the sea is beautiful. Two sun loungers and an umbrella 8 euros.
    On the advice of other tourists, almost everyone took excursions in Susanen. We met other tourists who had walked a little further than Susanin and there was another bureau with even cheaper prices. So you can continue walking. I would recommend taking excursions in mini-groups from Susanin. This is really great. There were only a few people, everyone got to know each other, communicated, were on the beach and in the tavern as much as they wanted, no one was in a hurry. The wonderful Larisa accompanied us and drove us around. We went this way to the Imbros gorge. I recommend it, very positive emotions and a lot of photos. The rest of the excursions were group tours and on one bus there were two, four, and even five languages. And while they will tell you everything in five languages, the information, of course, is crazy. But it's half the price. Therefore, decide for yourself what is more priority for you. In Santorini, if you decide, it’s much cheaper with Susanin, there are no problems there in terms of having multiple languages, after disembarking from the ship you will board only a Russian-speaking bus. I included the price tag of Pegasus for the excursion.
    I decided for myself that if I go to Greece, then at least to 4*, or even better, rent an apartment.
    You can go to this hotel only if they offer it to you for really little money. For a trip entirely for two adults for 11 days with departure from Kazan and with visas, we paid 116,500 rubles. For about the same money, we used to get a vacation of much better quality. CharacteristicScore (out of 5 possible)Comment
    Infrastructure4 Guests are satisfied with the work of catering establishments, as well as the security service. As for the territory itself, it is practically not landscaped. It is also worth noting that the lack of parking causes some inconvenience.
    Service4 The reception staff and service staff work harmoniously and are quite friendly towards the guests. The main complaint is the lack of animation.
    Numbers3,7 The rooms are well cleaned. The air conditioner does a good job of cooling the air temperature. As for the furniture and plumbing, everything is quite old and not of the best quality. Also, criticism is caused by strong audibility between rooms.
    Holidays with children2,3 This hotel is not suitable for families with small children. For them, only meals are provided here (the choice of dishes is quite modest). As for entertainment and animation, they are absent.
    Location4,7 The convenient location of Pela Maria 3* (Greece) provides walking distance to retail outlets and catering establishments. There are also many entertainment clubs nearby. It is worth noting the proximity to the beach and tourist attractions.

    • the hotel is located close to the international airport, so you won’t have to spend a lot of time on the road after a tiring flight;
    • bed linen and towels are changed regularly without any additional requests or reminders;
    • daily high-quality cleaning, regardless of the presence or absence of tips;
    • The restaurant menu always has a selection of meat and fish dishes;

    • The buffet offers a large selection of chopped ingredients and dressings from which you can form your own salad.

    Negative reviews

    Do not neglect information about the negative aspects that can await you at Pela Maria 3*. Reviews say the following:

    • the doors in different rooms are very different (some have new ones, while others have very old ones, with a large gap at the bottom);
    • despite the fact that the door can be locked with a regular key, in order to turn on the light, a card is required (this is very inconvenient);
    • if you want to go on an excursion or have an early flight, they will not provide you with a lunch box, and therefore the paid lunch will simply disappear;
    • Only Greeks work in the bar and restaurant, and therefore it can be difficult to communicate with them due to the language barrier;
    • strong audibility between rooms, as well as noise from the corridor interferes with rest;
    • the hotel does not have its own beach (but it is located quite close to the sea);
    • a cramped shower, bathing in which you will constantly touch the walls, which is quite unpleasant;
    • the beach closest to the hotel is strewn with large pebbles, and it’s a long walk to get to the sandy one;
    • constant interruptions in the operation of the elevator;
    • a cramped balcony, almost entirely occupied by plastic furniture;
    • instead of a double bed, the rooms have one-and-a-half beds, which constantly move apart due to the wheels on the legs;
    • after 22:00 and before 10:00 drinks are available only for an additional fee;
    • Renting vehicles and organizing excursions at the hotel is quite expensive (it is better to use the services of third-party services).

    General impression

    A good option for a summer seaside holiday is Pela Maria Hotel 3* (Crete). The convenient location relative to the resort infrastructure and tourist attractions makes this establishment ideal for active travelers. In addition, there are several comfortable beaches nearby. It is especially worth noting the quality of food and friendly service at the hotel. As for the room stock, it is not in the best condition. Outdated renovations, shabby furniture and not the latest technical equipment can somewhat spoil the impression. However, if you are not used to spending a lot of time on the hotel grounds, these shortcomings will not be too noticeable.
