2. In the “Select a key container” window, select the “Unique names” radio button and repeat the container selection.

3. If the key media is a floppy disk or flash card, you need to view its contents. At the root of the media there should be a folder with six files with the extension .key.

4. If the key carrier is ruToken or ruToken Lite, then you should reinstall the drivers and support module. To do this you need:

• Disconnect the token from the computer (at the moment of disconnection, the LED on the token should not blink).
• Open the Start menu > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (for Windows Vista and Windows Seven operating systems, Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features).
• In the list, find the element “Rutoken Support Modules”, “Rutoken Drivers” (or “Rutoken Drivers”) and select “Delete”.
• Restart your computer.
• Install new drivers and support module, as well as perform all other recommended actions using the diagnostic service.

5. Make a copy of the key container and install the certificate from the duplicate (see How to copy a container with a certificate to another medium?).

Since 2019, we are moving to the new GOST for electronic signature. It is called GOST 2012. Until 2019, we used certificates issued under GOST 2001. It turns out that 2019 is a transitional year between the two GOSTs. Now it is allowed to use a certificate of both GOST 2001 and 2012. If you reissued or issued a new certificate in 2019, then with a 99% probability you already have a new GOST 2012. If you issued a certificate in 2018, then most likely another 2001. This is the whole problem . Now let's find our certificates!

Please note that in new versions there is a switch for different GOSTs.

By switching this mode, you will see your certificates. Try installing GOST 2001 first; if the certificates are not displayed, install GOST 2012. I am sure you will find your certificate.

Right-click on it and select All tasks -> Manage private keys(see Figure 3).

Last week one of our visitors contacted us with a strange problem. A user says: when trying to install any application in Windows 8.1preinstalled on the laptop, it has an error occurred - n incorrect registered key set. Moreover, he tried to install the most common programs, for example iTunes, various games, such as Sims, Need For Speed, and so on. In most cases, an error occurred during installation incorrect registered key set and distribution, (installer) was finishing his work. Sometimes there was an error0x80070643, instead of that, for example, when installing the Microsoft Visual C++ component.

When I tried to google information on the Internet, I could not solve the problem. Most links lead to forums where problems related to crypto applications, such as crypto-pro, are discussed. But that’s not the point here, no programs were used.

Invalid registered key set, error code 0x80070643. What did you find?

• Some forums refer to a problem with Windows Defender - they tried disabling it, but it didn’t help.
• The possible cause of the error is Avast antivirus. The user had the antivirus installed, completely uninstalled it, just in case, ran the utility to completely remove the antivirus (avastclear.exe)
• The Microsoft .NET Framework was completely reinstalled by disabling it as a Windows component.
• We tried to clean out the remains from the utilities:

.Net framework cleanup tool
.Net framework repair tool

But unfortunately the effect did not happen either.

• Naturally, we tried installing all the latest updates on Windows 8.1.
• Fully scanned with antivirus.

Solution:

1. You need to delete the directory (folder) located at the following path C:\Users\YOUR USER\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA (meaning the RSA folder itself). After deletion, restart the computer; after reboot, Windows should recreate this folder again. (the appdata folder may be hidden and you need to go to it by copying the entire path, or by checking the box to show hidden files in the Explorer settings).
2. You can try creating a new Windows 8 user and check if the installation works under the new user (the user must be in the Administrators group).
