We have described the best phones of this company, according to buyers, but according to all the characteristics, the top and best Meizu smartphone is the Pro 5. Many people think that this is generally the chosen Android device, which is why we want to take a closer look and talk about it.
    Design

We will not hide that from the very beginning the company tried to approach Apple with its design. Pro 5 is no exception, which is very reminiscent of its outlines iPhone 6 Plus. Size, rounded glass and even an oval button on the front. And who is not trying to lick off the iPhone design now? But they have recently moved away from this trend and began to acquire their own individuality.

    Display
In no way inferior to the top phone manufacturers. The picture quality is at a high level: brightness, clarity, viewing angle.

    Performance

Perhaps this is the strongest side of this instance. A powerful processor, which is also used by other top companies. The performance of this device is enough for the phone to be up-to-date in terms of power for 2-4 years. It will pull any game and any application.
    Camera
Buying this device, you can not worry about the quality of the photo. Maximum number of pixels, six optical elements, fast and accurate auto focus. With regards to the front camera, selfies will also be wonderful and beautiful.

    Working hours

As we all know, a powerful display is responsible for the fast discharge of the device. The Pro 5 has a very good display, but it is FullHD, which allows the battery to drain much more slowly. According to the tests, he “lived” for two days, despite the fact that he was at work almost all the time.
    Soft
Echoes of the iPhone are here too: similar icons, menus and even gestures. If you climb everywhere, then the similarity with IOS will be obvious.
    Audio
Mobile device companies have been neglecting their audio systems lately. We believe that this is not right, because music and sound are an integral part of our lives. But the company we are talking about today focused on sound and made the right decision. You can see for yourself, compare it with even the most expensive models and you will be surprised how much better it is.
    Safety
Being easy to use helps the fingerprint scanner, which responds very quickly to touch. And of course, it will protect your personal information and files from infringement.

What is better Meizu or Xiaomi in 2017? This kind of question haunts a huge number of users who decide to order a smartphone from China. Today we will try to answer it. Why these particular brands? Statistics from various resources show that Meizu and Xiaomi products are in great demand among users in the post-Soviet space. Well, let's start!

A little history of Meizu and Xiaomi

Both companies, as you probably know, are from China, very young compared to many other brands. Meizu was founded in 2003, Xiaomi in 2010. Meizu initially (2003-2007) was engaged in the production of MP3 players, which were then in excellent demand. After the success of the first, the Chinese company realized that the displacement of portable players was beginning. Since 2008, she began to actively develop smartphones, noticeably copying the design of American brand devices. The similarity is visible even today.

Xiaomi began its journey with the development of the MIUI shell, which today is an integral part of any company's smartphone. The first version of the shell was released in 2010, and users really liked it. Already in 2011, Xiaomi releases the first smartphone, and after some 6 years it becomes one of the largest global companies.

Xiaomi vs Meizu: whose smartphones are better in 2017?

To answer the question, you will have to compare the products of companies according to a number of criteria.

Meizu or Xiaomi: who has a wider range

Both companies with enviable regularity present new smartphones to the public, but, whatever one may say, they manage to do this more often than Meizu. Xiaomi boasts not only a bunch of new products in recent months, but also a variety of lines, among which there are ultra-budget devices and flagships. Meizu has not been able to present something completely new lately, slightly updating its old models and releasing them under new names.

For diversity, the first point goes to Xiaomi.

    Whose smartphones are prettier

Design is subjective. However, we think many will agree that Meizu is still developing more stylish smartphones. Perhaps the point is inheriting the appearance features of an American company. Due to the use of high-quality materials and good assembly, Meizu smartphones are not only elegant, but also practical. True, Xiaomi also increasingly has beautiful solutions made from premium parts.

Well, for now, let's give the score to Meizu.

    Who has better quality

A very controversial criterion, using which we risk receiving a flurry of criticism from readers. However, if we again turn to the statistics and user reviews, we will find out that Xiaomi has a slightly larger number of marriages than Meizu. This is partly due to the large number of company sales. Also, the percentage of Xiaomi marriage can be attributed to the company's pursuit of quantity, not quality.

Be that as it may, we give the score to Meizu.

Meizu or Xiaomi: Who has better smartphones

    - a sore point of Meizu smartphones. All the company's smartphones released recently are equipped with MediaTek processors, which are not known as the most powerful market representatives. Xiaomi, even in budget solutions, installs Snapdragon processors, which are much better in performance than their competitors. It is precisely because of low-power chips that many users refuse the rest of Meizu's advantages, preferring Xiaomi.

Unconditionally the score goes to Xiaomi.

    Whose smartphones take better pictures

If we consider the budget niche, then the products of both companies have approximately the same cameras that take mediocre photos. In the flagship segment today, everything is a little different. Xiaomi recently appeared in the Mi6 line - a newcomer with a top-end Snapdragon 835 processor and an excellent camera. Meizu's flagship remains the Pro 6S, shown last year. It shoots well, but is clearly inferior to the more technologically advanced Mi6 modules. Perhaps the situation will change with the release of Pro 7, which should be shown very soon.

In the meantime, a little ahead of Xiaomi, so the score goes to her.

One of the biggest stumbling blocks is the branded shell - each company has its own. Xiaomi installs MIUI on its smartphones based on the Android operating system, while Meizu has Flyme. MIUI is distinguished by wide customization options and an abundance of various settings, but not all smartphones at the start of sales are presented with Russian localization. Flyme is known to users for its pleasant interface and excellent translation of the interface into Russian, but it receives updates less often.

    Whose smartphones are more autonomous

Here, the Xiaomi device is definitely ahead. The vast majority of the company's smartphones, released in 2016-2017, are equipped with a capacity of 4000 mAh or more, which ensures excellent autonomy. At the same time, Meizu smartphones have an average capacity of 3000-3500 mAh.

    Point goes Xiaomi.

And a few more points: additional "chips" and the ecosystem

Each company is trying to bring some kind of feature to their devices in order to attract a new user. And devices from Meizu and Xiaomi have their own characteristics. The first "trick" can be called the mTouch button. It is a touch and mechanical button combined with a fingerprint scanner - quite versatile and convenient. Xiaomi has an infrared port in many smartphones. It allows you to control appliances in the house using your phone. Useful stuff, right?

Meizu and Xiaomi also produce other devices for users that, together with a smartphone, can form an entire ecosystem. Xiaomi is especially successful in this direction, releasing smart bracelets, headphones, TVs, smart set-top boxes, even umbrellas (and all with the “smart” prefix).

We will not add points for additional features, but if you are one of the users who have already surrounded themselves with a bunch of smart technology today, then in your mind you can add Xiaomi plus with their ecosystem.

    And who is better?

As you noticed, we did not consider memory sizes, interfaces and other insignificant features - there is not much difference here. As a result, we have: 4 points for Xiaomi (model range, performance, cameras and autonomy) and 2 points for Meizu (design and quality). Following the numbers, in 2017 it is better to buy a Xiaomi smartphone.

Comparison of the best Meizu and Xiaomi smartphones

Of course, the numbers are a serious argument in the Meizu vs Xiaomi dispute, but they only reflect the situation in the market as a whole. But what if the best smartphones from these companies in 2016-2017 are pushed head-on? We took a couple of models from each price segment to compare them according to the main criteria.

Budget class: Xiaomi Redmi 4X vs Meizu M5

Two affordable smartphones that have recently appeared on the virtual shelves of online stores. - a practical metal apparatus with a productive filling. - an elegant option with an abundance of colors. Both are good in their own way and deserve attention.

    Price6000 rubles6000 rubles

In terms of key parameters, Redmi 4X looks more interesting: it is more practical, productive and autonomous. M5 attracts only with a good appearance and "chips" in the face of Flyme.

Mid-range: Meizu MX6 vs. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

In the middle class, Meizu manages to catch up with the competitor in terms of performance. MX6, in addition to a more stylish design, surpasses Redmi Note 4 in photo capabilities, and is not much inferior in performance. But in terms of autonomy, the solution from Xiaomi is still a cut above, and the infrared port, which the MX6 did not acquire, will not be superfluous.

You have to choose from these smartphones, starting from your requests. You need a beautiful thin device with good performance and a good camera, then you should look towards Meizu MX6. If you are one of those who like to play and want to stay in touch for a long time, then your choice is Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

Since Meizu has not yet introduced a Mi6 competitor, we will compare the previous models: Pro 6 and Mi5. Two great smartphones with still up-to-date specs that could compete with more expensive A-brands. Xiaomi Mi5 received a powerful Snapdragon 820 processor, Meizu has a powerful chip from MTK. The devices are full of various "chips" and are able to take great photos.

The choice depends on the tastes of the user - both smartphones are really good. However, Xiaomi Mi5 can be put one step higher due to the processor and lower cost.

    Conclusion

Well, it's time to sum up. We examined each manufacturer according to different criteria and came to the conclusion that it is more practical to buy Xiaomi smartphones in 2017. This brand is represented by a much larger assortment, which does not constrain the choice, offers powerful and autonomous solutions for little money. Meizu slightly slowed down, releasing the main competitor forward. However, the company should not be discounted - a rather unusual Pro 7 will be presented soon, and maybe a couple of budget models that will win back several points. The battle of “Meizu or Xiaomi” has not yet been finalized. What brand do you prefer?

Chinese smartphone manufacturers xiaomi and meizu are confidently moving towards the position of world leaders. The growth of such popularity is due to affordability, attractive design of gadgets, as well as high-quality hardware, which today is not inferior even to the shell of famous brands. To understand what is better xiaomi or meizu and what parameters you should pay attention to when buying a new phone, you need to sort out the strengths and weaknesses of Chinese products competitors and weigh the balance of power between them.

Which Chinese is better and why - a bit of brand history

Meizu vs xiaomi are manufacturers of a large number of smartphones, each of the companies offers budget-class phones and flagships at affordable prices. The meizu brand previously positioned itself as a manufacturer of mp3 players, but soon began to produce smartphones similar to Apple, meizu is still called the Chinese apple. Xiaomi products differ from the competitor, capturing the love of customers with the miui shell, on the shell of which they began to produce phones.

Xiaomi vs meizu: whose shell and hardware is better

A comparison of xiaomi and meizu phones shows that Xiaomi uses Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets for almost all of their phones, even for budget versions. But about 90% of Meizu gadgets are manufactured by MediaTek, this applies to both budget and fashion smartphones. Xiaomi products are also smartphones with capacious batteries, for example, some redmi models have 4100 mAh batteries, but meizu blue charm has a capacity of only 3000 mAh.

    Strengths of Meizu smartphones

Even models with prices, budget class characteristics have a stylish design. Compared to the competitor, meizu use glass on almost all of their models. The plastic dividers on the rear panels are not striking, which is a big plus for the brand. Meizu smartphones are equipped with an excellent quality audio processor, with a high sampling rate and a wide frequency potential, which increases the signal to noise ratio. Budget meizu pleases with the quality of their cameras, due to the fact that developers use the same matrices for both flagships and mid-range phones, while optimizing their functionality.

    Benefits of Xiaomi phones

Xiaomi smartphone manufacturers provide their gadgets almost at cost, explaining that the main income of the company is the sale of electronics and services. Therefore, it is rather problematic to find an analogue that will have a high-quality filling, but cost like a budget Sony. The big advantage of xiaomi is the use of powerful chipsets even for budget versions. These are Qualcomm Snapdragon chips or Taiwanese MediaTek, the latest meizu uses only for flagships.

    Additional gadget features

To attract customers, each of the companies has brought its chip. Such a feature of the meizu can be called a touch and mechanical mTouch button, which is combined with a fingerprint scanner. Due to the fact that Xiaomi is engaged in the production of household appliances, almost all smartphones are equipped with an infrared diode, thanks to the built-in Mi Remote program, you can control household appliances using your phone. In the formation of an entire ecosystem, xiaomi is leading the way, releasing various products with the prefix “smart”.

    Disadvantages of meizu smartphones

The cons of meizu smartphones have increased due to litigation between the meizu brand and qualcomm. Therefore, the brand often uses MediaTek chipsets, which are not going smoothly with flagships. The company provides top-end hardware that is on par with qualcomm's budget-class chipsets. Another disadvantage of meizu smartphones is that the use of hardware from different manufacturers creates minor bugs, updates do not come out on time, and some programs are completely unfinished. MediaTek sometimes lacks customer support when it comes to transferring new Android OS kernels and drivers to legacy chips. As for the pricing policy, flagships similar in parameters to meizu will cost about 400 dollars, from xiaomi - 300.

    Xiaomi disadvantages

The smartphone is characterized by frequent problems with updating Android, this applies to hardware on MediaTek chips. There are minor bugs in the operation of the operating system. The miui firmware is tested by volunteers, whose bugs do not always float away, because of this, even at the beta testing stage, the flaws fly into the public domain. Localization is another software problem. Due to the fact that their brand firmware does not have the Russian version of Google services. But even with the presence of firmware, you should not be sure that it was made without side bugs. Good quality xiaomi phones are in limited circulation, due to the presence of only a few stores outside of China. The main sales are carried out through the official website. There is a trend of reselling gadgets with a solid markup.

Xiaoim uses the services of various assemblers and suppliers to effectively release new phones. This affects the quality of the produced models. The same models in different batches may have parts from different assemblers. In this connection, the development of software and its optimization become more complicated. Also, situations are inevitable when one device works smoothly with an identical firmware version, while the other constantly pops up bugs.

These three Chinese brands are always on the radar of buyers who decide to choose a smartphone. They offer inexpensive solutions with large displays and good hardware, which is what distinguishes them from other manufacturers. If a budget employee from Xiaomi for $ 200 (conditionally) gets a 5-inch HD display, then a phone from Samsung, for example, with the same characteristics will cost $ 250-300. Let's figure out what exactly is hidden behind these names and which brand is better.

    Xiaomi phones

    New Flagship Xiaomi Mi Mix2s

In Russia, they have become popular. The reason is high quality, good service, affordable price with good components. The manufacturer does not have its own hardware production base, so it orders components from third-party manufacturers. For example, processors are mainly purchased from Qualcomm (rarely from Mediatek), a leading developer of mobile processors. Qualcomm, in turn, uses solutions from another brand - ARM.

Note that the decision to use Qualcomm products is a plus, since the manufacturer's chipsets are powerful with low power consumption (especially the flagship ones - Snapdragon 821, 835, 845). The new flagships of Xiaomi Mi6, Mi Mix 2S are equipped with the latest TOP Qualcomm developments and boast high performance.

The second feature of Xiaomi is the MIUI shell, which is placed on top of pure Android. Many users highlight it as a drawback due to the unusual arrangement of settings and elements. Some smartphones under this shell do not have the Russian language (you have to use third-party firmware), and the bootloader may be blocked. To unlock it, you have to apply through a Chinese site.

There are user complaints about poor system optimization under the MIUI shell, which is why platforms even with capacious batteries (mostly 3000 mAh) are discharged during the day. For example, one of the most popular Xiaomi Redmi 4 models received a 4100 mAh battery, although its autonomy is not impressive - a day of operation with the screen glowing for 5 hours.

Some users (units) complain about ads embedded in the firmware. From time to time, when using the phone, an advertising message pops up about some kind of investment there. To be honest, I personally could not see ads in the firmware, although I have experience using Xiaomi. Perhaps this applies only to some models.

    Smartphones

In the Russian market (and in China) Meizu smartphones are less popular. The Chinese brand also produces low-cost smartphones and mainly offers budget models (although there are also flagships like Meizu Pro 7) with large screens and high prices. This encourages many buyers to choose Meizu.

Unlike Xiaomi, Meizu works very closely with Mediatek, a manufacturer of chipsets (processors) for smartphones. Most Meizu smartphones of the top or budget class are supplied to the market with MediaTek chips, which is a plus on the one hand, and a minus on the other. The plus is the cheapness of the processors of this manufacturer, the minus is their speed. One of the best Mediatek Helio X30 solutions with 10 cores is inferior in performance to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip of the same category. Most often, Mediatek installs weak video processors with a small number of cores, which causes poor graphics performance.

The second drawback of Meizu smartphones is the proprietary Flyme shell. She got the same problems as Miui in Xiaomi, but it remains more difficult to understand. It's hard to say which shell is dumber - Flyme or Miui, but the latter is more common and studied.

When choosing between Meizu and Xiaomi (any price category), it is better to give preference to the latter brand. Its gadgets based on Qualcomm Snapdragon processors are more productive and energy efficient. It is Qualcomm that is the leader in the development of mobile processors, not Mediatek.

    Huawei

    Flagship Huawei Mate 10 Pro

This mobile technology giant is head and shoulders above any other Chinese company that makes mobile phones. If Xiaomi and Meizu simply assemble gadgets based on third-party hardware, then Huawei has its own production base of processors.

Under the HiSilicon brand (owned by Huawei), mobile chipsets are produced that compete even with the legendary processors from Qualcomm and Exynos (Samsung). One of the latest 10nm HiSilicon Kirin 970 chips has received improved Mali-G72 graphics with 12 video processors, and now its capabilities and performance are comparable to the power of the top Snapdragon 835 CPU. Huawei with its Kirin processors have long moved into the big leagues, where Mediatek only aspires to.

Further, the cameras in Huawei smartphones are among the best in the world. If we take the Dxomark rating (the studio analyzes mobile cameras), then Huawei's flagship Mate 10 Pro is in 4th place. Only Samsung S9 Plus, Google Pixel 2 and Apple with their iPhone X are located above. Not a single Xiaomi or Meizu gadget was included in the first 10 models of the rating, and only the new Xiaomi Mi Note 3 smartphone is in the 11th position, and Meizu phones generally absent.

As you can see, Huawei holds the lead, Xiaomi is far behind, and Meizu's flagships didn't even make it into the TOP20 smartphones with good cameras.

Note that Huawei pays a lot of attention to the development of cameras and works closely with specialists from the legendary Leica brand. In addition, Huawei uses 2 rear modules of its cameras in a very unusual way: one shoots a picture in monochrome mode and “catches” the light, the other module takes a color picture and receives color information. Then 2 frames are combined using special software, and at the output the user sees a high-quality image with accurate colors and a wide dynamic range. Most other smartphone manufacturers use a second camera to determine depth of field, which allows you to blur the background, but the quality of the photo is only indirectly affected. This is a big plus for Huawei flagships with two cameras.

    Verdict: who is better?

We can definitely say that Meizu is the weakest brand of the three - its phones are cheaper than the rest, equipped with weak hardware from MediaTek. Xiaomi is a more solid company, riveting mostly inexpensive smartphones with good displays and processors from Qualcomm. Most users are satisfied with the quality of products, but there are complaints about the manufacturer's software. Huawei is a cool brand that inspires more trust than other Chinese companies. It competes with Apple and Samsung, and in some respects even surpasses them. In simple terms, Huawei belongs to the big leagues, Xiaomi and Meizu to the middle.
