Moreover, a phone with two active SIM-cards, which does not need to be recharged often, is a real boon for those who make a lot of calls, but do not like (or cannot) often charge their communication device.

This is exactly what Philips Xenium X513 is: it is a two-card monoblock that can work up to 2 months (!) in standby mode. Phenomenal performance backed up indeed capacious battery at 2000 mAh. No one has such a battery (we do not take into account incomprehensible Chinese manufacturers). The model turned out to be relatively advanced in technical terms: the phone has a 2-megapixel camera, QVGA-screen, 3.5 connector, radio, support for microSD-format memory cards.

Thus, a solution that is unique in its essence is obtained: the phone works longer than any other model, while it also has a number of options that allow it to be used not only as a means of communication.

Appearance

The monoblock is offered in the only color option - this is the classic black color, which will be appreciated by the male audience. The chopped form of the device clearly hints that, according to the designers, the strict and precise forms of the Philips X513 will appeal to adherents of the classical style.

The body dimensions are 112x47.6x15.6 mm, the phone weighs 131 grams. The phone is somewhat elongated, but at the same time narrow enough to be comfortable to hold in your hand. Philips X513 is heavy, but this is a price for a high-capacity battery. I think that this cannot be attributed to the shortcomings of the model, the dimensions of the phone exceeding classmates do not exceed reasonable limits - for example, the Samsung Xcover, protected from adversity, is even larger (but lighter).

Carrying the phone in jeans pockets is convenient, it does not create discomfort. It is also comfortable to hold in the hand: the edges of the Philips X513 are slightly beveled both on the front side of the device and on the back, fingers rest on them, when the phone is in the palm of your hand, it does not slip. Separately, I would like to mention the coverage back cover, which is made of metal, but thin vertical grooves make it non-slip.

The novelty is assembled with high quality: the design is monolithic, nothing creaks, does not play and does not hang out - an excellent level of workmanship. The front panel and sides of the Philips X513 are made of plastic. Following the spirit of recent trends, glossy plastic is used, which is expressed in a fairly soiled panel covering the phone's screen. The already mentioned back panel, as well as the edging of the phone on the front side.

At the top is a small T-shaped notch, which houses the earpiece. Under the screen is the company logo.

Below is the block of keys. It consists of a pair of soft keys and buttons for accepting and ending a call. The latter turns the phone on and off. In the middle is a round large four-way button made of matte plastic. Pressing the center of the button confirms the action. The joystick is very comfortable, it has a small and clear stroke.

The keyboard is wide enough for comfortable typing. The phone has 4 rows of buttons, 3 keys on each. The combined buttons are located on several plates, it is convenient to press them: the move is moderate, the actions are accompanied by soft mechanical clicks. The characters are spaced far enough from each other, so you can type blindly without fear of making a mistake. Letters and numbers are printed in gray font, which is clearly distinguishable. But the icons themselves are small - people with visual impairments may not see them very well, they could be made larger, free space enough here. The backlighting of the keys is uneven and not very bright, but at the same time, all characters remain readable.

On the left side is a standard 3.5 mm jack, which connects a wired headset or any headphones with a mini-jack.

On the opposite side is a paired volume rocker. The buttons are pressed with little effort, it is convenient to use them. The keys protrude relative to the plane of the case for a considerable distance, they are easy to press blindly.

At the bottom there is a microphone hole and a miniUSB-connector, which is closed with a plastic plug that sits tightly in its place.

At the top end there is a fastening for a strap.

The back side of the phone is distinguished by an angled case, on this part made of matte plastic there is a round cutout for a 2-megapixel camera, a flash (which can work as a flashlight) and a small longitudinal slot for a bell speaker. On a slightly rough back panel, the name of the company is applied.

The panel is pulled together with little effort, under it is a large battery, which is equipped with a pair of protrusions - they help to remove it from the device. Under the battery, there are 2 slots for SIM cards in parallel, and next to them is a slot for a microSD card.

In general, I really liked the workmanship of the phone, the phone turned out to be comfortable.

Screen

The X513 has a 2.2-inch TFT display with a resolution of 240x320 pixels and 262,000 colors.

The colors are not very bright, rather dull. Viewing angles are average, the image fades outdoors in the sun, the data is not very readable even on maximum level brightness, the phone lacks a mirror backing.

Five levels of display brightness are available. The screen cover is made of plastic, there may be minor scratches or abrasions from carrying the phone and small things in one pocket.

Menu

In idle mode, the desktop displays a variety of useful service information. On the top line there is a reception indicator, an icon of a memory card inserted into the phone, a working Bluetooth, an enabled profile. Symbols of unread messages and missed calls also get there, time and battery level are shown. The names of SIM cards and operators, the date and day of the week, as well as a large clock are displayed. You can select a background picture from the phone's presets or from those that have been saved to the phone's memory by the user. Larger icons are additionally displayed on the desktop than in the upper status line, indicating unread messages or missed calls.

Menu icons have a simple and neat look, the selected item stands out from the rest in a brighter color. The phone has two themes: black and white.

Keyboard navigation works. The menu is presented in the form of 3x4 icons, the layout of the buttons is the same. And it turns out that the button in the upper left corner (this is “1”) calls up the menu with games, which is located in the same place on the screen. "2" is a browser, etc. You can also navigate using the volume keys.

The right soft key is assigned to launch a menu with shortcuts, which helps to get fast access to some functions of the phone. You can add links to the necessary functions in this menu, removing unnecessary ones or changing the order in which they appear. Actions are set for joystick deflections in all four directions, you can choose from 18 tasks.

Phone book

X513 can store up to 1000 phone numbers. In addition, the memory of the SIM card is also available. You can display in a general list both numbers in the phone and SIM-card memory, and them separately for each type of data, respectively, there are 4 tabs with numbers in the phone.

Each subscriber is assigned a first name (first and last names are combined in one field, you can enter up to 40 characters in it), a mobile phone number, home and work, and you can also place it in one of the 5 user groups existing on the phone (you cannot create your own groups ). Additionally, the fax number, company name, birthday, residential address are set, a call is set, an image is assigned (there is a limit of 25 Kb per image). You can choose to display only the fields you need, hiding the ones you don't.

The search is carried out by the initial letters of the contact (first or last name). The letter is displayed on the screen while scrolling the list, which allows you to orient yourself in the general list. Works speed dial numbers (up to 8 contacts are assigned).

Call log

The call history is displayed on several tabs, there are several of them: missed, received, dialed, and common list, which displays all types of calls. Each of them contains more than 30 numbers. In addition, the name is shown (if not recorded in the phone book, then the number), date and time of the call, the number of calls to the subscriber. To the left of the phone number, a digit indicates the number of the SIM card that received the call.

When making a call, actions are performed by default from the first SIM card. If you need to call from the second, then you need to go to the options menu when dialing the number and select another card there. There are a number of useful additional features. The phone can beep during a conversation, notifying about the duration of the conversation (either one-time (the reminder time is set in the range from 1 to 3000 seconds), or regularly (the interval from 30 to 60 seconds). Incoming call can be rejected, after which a message will be sent with the text entered in advance by the user (up to 60 characters). The phone can record a conversation using a built-in voice recorder, and also has a black list function that allows you to block incoming calls from certain numbers.

Working with SIM-cards is implemented as follows. The display shows information about both cards: the level of reception, the name of the operator, the own name of the SIM card, which the user can give it. And also the numbers "1" and "2" indicate the priority of the cards. In the settings menu, not only the name of the SIM card is set, but also their priority is manually selected (this is important, because by default all calls come from the 1st card). You can also disable one of the SIM cards if you wish, without removing it from the slot. If you talk on the phone, and at the same time someone calls the second SIM card, then the phone will not react to this in any way.

Messages

The phone can work with both SMS and MMS messages. Up to 1000 SMS can be stored in the phone's memory. Incoming SMS and MMS go to the shared folder. Additionally, there are folders sent, outgoing and drafts. Messages stored in the SIM card memory are also shown. It may also turn out useful feature automatic lock messages from unwanted persons - messages from blocked users will be stored in the spam folder. There is a set of templates for different cases life. When creating a new message, you can choose between two types: SMS or MMS. The phone supports sending combined messages. MMS are sent up to 200 Kb in size.

You can enter multiple accounts and use them. There is no mailbox setup wizard, you need to enter most of the parameters yourself. I have tried downloading mail from Gmail servers and Mail. You can set automatic synchronization in your phone by setting the desired fixed time interval (5, 30 minutes, 1 and 2 hours), set maximum size downloaded email, and the number of email messages downloaded to the phone memory.

Camera

The phone has a 2-megapixel CMOS camera without autofocus, but equipped with a flash. The lens does not have a protective shutter.

The quality of the resulting images can hardly be called outstanding: unnatural colors, excessive contrast and an abundance of noise.

Player The phone supports the following audio formats: AMR, MP3, AAC, WAV, Midi. You can select the music source, which will be either the phone's memory or, more likely, the flash media installed in the phone. The display shows the track name, playing time, track number, total number of songs. The player can be minimized, it will play in the background, the screen will display the name of the song being played. The covers registered in the tags of the files were not displayed on the screen. The player has the ability to play music in the following categories: all songs, playlists, artists, last played. Playlists can be created both using a computer, and you can add existing songs to them in the device’s memory yourself. There is a repeat mode for one track, and for all, you can listen to all the music mixed up, or mixed up plus the repeat mode is activated. There is an equalizer with several settings: bass, dance music, classical music, pop, rock. Moreover, leaving the player on the desktop, you can see the control menu. It is simple, but it supports the function of quickly jumping to lists of songs, which is convenient: you do not need to take extra steps when moving through the menu. Pressing the end call key allows you to stop working music player. You can move between tracks by pushing the joystick left or right. From the point of view of the audio part, the player produces a rather pleasant sound, it seems that progress has been made - the model copes with music playback better than its predecessors. True, if you want to listen to songs, it is better to replace the bundled headphones with something better. The built-in radio receiver has RDS support and memory for two dozen stations. It is also convenient that you can record the broadcast you are listening to at the time of the broadcast and save it in the memory of your phone or card. You can enter the station address manually, or resort to automatic search waves. The radio can also be minimized and run in the background. Supports radio recording functions in various formats(AMR, AWB, WAV). File Manager There is no gallery to view images. There is only an album of pictures from the camera, which allows you to view the received images, send them via Bluetooth, e-mail or MMS, as well as assign a picture to a contact or set as desktop wallpaper. Photos are displayed as a vertical list with file names or are represented by a matrix of preview images. Here you can also watch video files in 3GP format. The memory card slot is located under the battery, so you won't be able to quickly change the card. The manufacturer claims support for memory cards up to 16 GB, a card of this size was used in the test, it worked well. The built-in file browser can transfer files from folders to the phone memory and memory cards, copy, rename and delete them. Through it, you can view and listen to a variety of content. Images are shown as 3x3 icons or as a vertical list. To work with data, files must be copied to special sections, otherwise the phone simply will not see them. Organizer The calendar can be displayed as either a week or a month. You can display in a single list all the events entered in it, of which there can be several types in the phone's memory: reminder, meeting, lectures, date, call, birthday. Sets the start and end time of the memo. Additionally, a warning signal is set. It can be distributed at the moment the event starts or ahead of time (5, 15 or 30 minutes). The event is assigned a repetition: every day, weekly, monthly, one-time. You can also select several days of the week for which the repeat will be assigned. There are several generic notes in the phone memory that can be applied to the events you set. The phone has 5 alarms. The days on which it will work are set, and you can also choose its signal either from among the melodies preinstalled in the phone, or set your favorite melody. The wake-up mode can be set to intervals of 5, 10 and 20 minutes. Alert mode changes (only sound, only vibration, sound and vibration, first vibration, then signal). The voice recorder records sounds or phone conversation without time limit, it is limited only by the amount of free space in the phone memory or the card installed in it. You can choose from several audio recording formats (WAV, AMR, AWB), as well as set high or low quality records. The built-in text file reader allows you to view the contents of .txt files, which can be in ASCII (Western Windows), UCS2 (Unicode) and UTF8 encodings. For additional convenience, the font style, its size (small, medium, large), scrolling (page or line) and its speed, displaying text on the whole screen are configured. You can also set the text to scroll automatically. Reading text is carried out only in the vertical orientation of the screen. The data can be located both in the phone and on the memory card. There is a calculator, a function for creating text notes, a stopwatch, a unit converter, a flashlight, time is shown in different time zones. You can make a backup phone book and messages or restore previously saved data. The black list allows you to block calls and messages from different people. Rehabilitation is also carried out in the same menu - you can remove the number from the list, the subscriber will again be able to dial and send SMS. Profiles are 7 different preset and custom phone settings. They change the volume of the call, the melody of the call and messages, the type of signal (ring, vibration, vibration and call, vibration, then the call), turn on the sound of the keyboard, adjust the brightness of the screen. The phone can use 5 different native tones that can be set as ring tones. The settings are highlighted in a separate menu item. Phone language, time and date are set. Here you can also see how many messages and contacts are stored in memory. Network, browser, calls, SMS parameters are set. Select the font size: large, medium or small. Other settings are also changing.
