    Sincerely, Congratulations!

Movement in an image gives it its own special charm, and some types of animation may be appropriate, such as the running hand of a clock. Performing such an animation is quite simple.

Create an image of a clock like this or take a ready-made one. On top of the layers with the clock, in the example they are combined into a group, create two layers: “large arrow” and “small arrow”. Take the Free Shape tool.

Select an arrow from the list of shapes.

In one of the layers we make a large arrow.

Rasterize the layer with the shape.

In the “Layers” - “Layer Style” tab, select “Blending Options” and in the dialog box we will set the color fill and embossing, which will allow us to simulate volume. In order to reproduce the same settings for the second arrow, click “Use as default” for each parameter.

Rasterize the layer with the style applied to it.

Apply the same steps to the second arrow.

We will not animate the layer with the small arrow and so that it does not interfere, we will remove its visibility.

Copy the layer with the big arrow 11 times so that there are 12 big arrows.

We direct each of the layers with a large arrow for time.

It should be noted that the arrows pointing to 1 and 7, 2 and 8, 3 and 9, 4 and 10, 5 and 11, 6 and 12 are practically a continuation of one line.

Let's move on to creating animation. In the “Window” tab, click “Timeline” (“Animation”).

An animation field will appear under the work field, where you should click on the icon that looks like a film and below on the storyboard icon.

In the first frame, we set the frame display time to 0.3 seconds, and set the cycle to “Constant”. For the first frame, make visible a small arrow, which will be reflected on all frames, and a layer with a large arrow pointing to 12.

Create a second frame and make visible the layer with the large arrow pointing to 1, etc.

    Frame 3 corresponds to layer 2, frame 4 – layer 3, frame 5 – layer 4, frame 6 – layer 5, frame 7 – layer 6, frame 8 – layer 7, frame 9 – layer 8, frame 10 – layer 9, frame 11 – layer 10, frame 12 – layer 11.

If the original image of the clock consisted of layers, then the glass imitation should be moved to the very top, as this layer looks like shown in the figure, and the middle of the clock should be moved on top of all the arrows.

All changes to the time scale must be made on the first frame so that they are automatically reflected in subsequent frames. But changes in the “Blending Options” have to be made for each frame separately.

    Animation of a wall clock

A fairly easy lesson on creating animation. Designed for experienced gimpers.
    author Maskyna

Let me make a reservation right away that the goal of this lesson is not to create a photorealistic clock, but to actually animate the movement of the hands.

    1. Create new image , background color as desired. Let's take itNew Layer, on it, I use the toolelliptical selection draw a circle (hold shift).

    2. Fill the selection with any color you like, reduce the selection by 15-25 pixels, and press Delete.

    3. Create new layer, place it between the cha layer myself and and background. Takegradientfrom white to gray, and draw a dial, having first selected the inside of the clock on the top layer.

    4. If you want to add volume to the cha yourself, useFilters - Cast shadow, Filters - Map - Relief, etc. When you are satisfied with the result, stop.

    5. Let's start drawing the dial. For this we need guides(Image - Guides - New Guide). Add both horizontal and vertical. Find the center of the watch face and drag the guides there(tool moving).

    6. Now we write in any font and color myself and numbers, each easier on a new layer. From my watches, 12, 3, 6 and 9 are probably enough.

    7. At the intersection of the guides you can put a bold dot, from here the hands of our clock will come out.

    8. You can merge all layers, with or without the background layer. Let's draw the hands, I'll draw the hour and minute hands. Each on a new layer. I will call the minute layer “m1” and the hour layer “h1”, for convenience.

8.1 Now my watch shows 12:00. I will make only 4 positions: 12: 15, 12: 30, 12: 45 and 12 again. With the minute hand, I think everything is clear, every 15 minutes - a turn of 90 degrees. The hour passes in 15 minutes - 7.5, it’s not difficult to calculate :).

    9. Duplicate the background layer ch1 and m1, original ch1 and m1merge with a copy of the background , rename the new ones to h2 and m2. We rotate M2 by 90 degrees with the tool, and 7.5 by the same tool.

Duplicate the background layer again, Ch2 and M2, combine the original Ch2 and M2 with a copy of the background.

    10. Repeat step 9 twice more. The screenshot shows what you will get as a result.

    11. Save in format gif. For this we chooseFile - Save As , file_name.gif, nextsave as animation delay between frames about 250. Done!
