    Telex is a type of telegram, distinguished in connection with a special method of transmission - via subscriber telex communication. In other words, a telex is a telegram sent via teletype (teleprint) - a telegraph communication device subscribed to by an organization. Telex communication is subscriber-based, so it does not have categories and types, as in telegrams.

    Telex communication is widely used in business communication, especially in the field of foreign economic relations at all stages of concluding and executing a transaction. Telex communication differs from the transmission of a message over the public telegraph network in the speed of transmission of the message: the addressee receives the message at his telex installation almost at the same moment when it is sent from the other end of the connection (it takes at least 3 hours to send and receive a telegram). In addition, a telex, like a telegram, is a document, unlike a fax, which also ensures speedy transmission, but is just a copy of the document.

    The cost of a telex message is determined by the time spent on its transmission. The unit of payment is a connection fee of 1 minute, and the amount of payment depends on the destination country.

    Telexes differ from telegrams by the use of punctuation marks - periods (.) and commas (,), as well as different fonts.

    The required telex details are: addressee, signature, number, name and address of the sender. The requirements for the design of a telex are generally similar to the requirements for the design and writing of telegrams. A telex differs from a telegram in the content of the service header, which indicates information about the addressee and sender, as well as the time of transmission of the message.

    In the upper left part of the telex there is a so-called operational information block (OS block), which contains information about the addressee and sender, and the time of message transmission.

To properly use telex communications, the subscriber must know the International code for official conversations over the Telex network, the numbers of subscribers in other countries and their automatic responses.

    Thus, the OS block usually includes auto-responses from subscribers A and B and the date. Dates are written in numbers. In the above telex, this part of the OS block is deciphered as follows:

    Some lexical features of the telex indicate the economical use of linguistic means:

    instead of a multi-word expression, one word with the same meaning is used, for example, with best regards - regards;

    complex multi-word sentences typical for business letters are not used, for example: We confirm receipt instead of We acknowledge with thanks the receipt of;

    the choice is made in favor of shorter words, for example, instead of approximately - about;

    The punctuation rules used in telexes are generally closer to the norms of a business letter than telegrams. In telexes, in this case, periods and commas are used, as in letters.

    In international telex correspondence, special rules for writing numbers have been adopted:

    fractions are written separated by a slash: 2/3, 1/6; if necessary, designation of a whole number and a fraction, the fraction is separated from the whole number by a dash sign: 2 - 5/6;

    • b) numbers are designated in telexes by numbers, however, in accordance with accepted standards of international practice, the digital designation of multi-digit numbers is usually followed by their letter designation, for example: 1000 - one thousand;
    • c) when denoting percentages, instead of the percent sign (%) the number 0 and a slash are used, i.e. 0/0 instead of %.

    When composing a telex, sometimes it becomes necessary to correct a detected error. In this case, the following may be recommended. Immediately after an error is detected, the letter “X” is printed 5 times in a row (without intervals), after which, after several intervals, the correct word is placed, for example,

    PLEASE CONFIRM DSELIVERY OF FIRST LEXXXXX LOT.

    After the main text comes the final form of politeness, which in telexes comes down to various abbreviations of the expression With best regards (Best rgds; regards; rgds).

    The last telex message ends with a “++” sign. The "+?" sign at the end of a telex - waiting for a response or a new message - eliminates the need to dial the number again.

    At the end of the telex there may be numbers and words that are not related to the content of the telex. These are comparison marks related to the technical control of telex transmission and they do not carry any semantic load.

    Messages are exchanged between SWIFT system participants using messages of a certain format. The entire set of messages (request, demand, response to a request, notification of a check, etc.) within the SWIFT system is divided into Categories.     Along with the SWIFT system, the TELEX system has become quite widely used as an interbank transfer system.

    The factors that contributed to the spread of the TELEX system can be listed as follows:

    Providing a range of services largely similar to those of the SWIFT system;

    The absence of a number of restrictions inherent in the SWIFT system (for example, imposing restrictions on the length of a number of fields (tags);

    The bank's counterparty has only the TELEX system as an external system (i.e., for a number of reasons, the counterparty connected to the SWIFT system).

    One of the features of the TELEX system is the possibility of more flexible configuration of the TELEX message format. Thus, in the practice of A-bank, it was decided to focus on a SWIFT-like format. Thus, the format of TELEX messages used by A-bank largely replicates the format of SWIFT messages.

    3.6. Minimum balances on LORO accounts as a tool for

    attracting bank resources

    As one of the aspects of using correspondent accounts in a bank, within the framework of this work, raising funds for minimum or fixed balances (hereinafter referred to as FI) will be considered.

    The essence of attracting funds from respondent banks is to increase the bank's resources in exchange for the accrual of a certain percentage on LORO accounts.

    In other words, as a result of concluding an additional agreement on the financial account (additional to the correspondent account agreement), the respondent bank undertakes, during the term of the agreement, not to violate the amount of the balance on its LORO account specified in the agreement.     In modern conditions, it is of great importance, on the one hand, to increase the efficiency of using its own branch network of branches, representative offices, agencies and subsidiaries (for example, the English Midland Bank has a network of more than 200 such institutions) and, on the other hand, to optimize the correspondent network .     The punctuation rules used in telexes are generally closer to the norms of a business letter than telegrams. In telexes, in this case, periods and commas are used, as in letters.

    In international telex correspondence, special rules for writing numbers have been adopted:

    • a) fractions are written separated by a slash: 2/3, 1/2; if it is necessary to designate a whole number and a fraction, the fraction is separated from the whole number by a dash sign: 2 - 5/6;
    • b) numbers are designated in telexes by numbers, however, in accordance with accepted norms of international practice, the digital designation of multi-digit numbers is usually followed by their letter designation, for example: “1000 - one thousand”;

    When composing a telex, sometimes it becomes necessary to correct a detected error. In this case, the following may be recommended.
