If the tablet has not undergone major changes in appearance and resembles the iPad 2, then the technical characteristics have changed quite seriously.     Despite the already mentioned accessibility and intuitiveness, Apple has managed to maintain a special approach that distinguishes its products from a number of analogues.

    This, of course, is a definite plus, however, at the same time, a user who has dealt only with personal computers controlled by the Windows operating system (and, you see, there are many of them) may at first experience certain difficulties when communicating with new technology.

    To avoid such difficulties, when you turn on the device for the first time, it is better to use useful tips from experienced users. We've collected tips for you on how to set up your iPad and we sincerely hope you find this information useful.

    First acquaintance

    So, you have a box with a brand new iPad in your hands, and in order for a piece of plastic to turn into a completely ready-to-use device, you will need:

    • a computer connected to the Internet;
    • wireless Wi-Fi network;
    • and... that's basically it.

    After turning on the device, you will be asked to select the interface language. The iPad interface supports more than a dozen different languages, but there is no need to fear confusion: the main languages ​​used - English, French, German and, of course, Russian - are displayed separately in the start menu. The full list of available languages ​​can be viewed by calling the corresponding menu.

    Having selected the language (the choice can later be changed in the device settings), press the “next” button (arrow in the upper right corner of the screen) and wait a few seconds. After this, you will be asked to select a region. This choice will have implications for some of the services Apple provides.

    To start using the tablet, you will need to activate it in the iTunes service, for which you will need to install on your computer the appropriate application that comes with the iPad. Using iTunes, you can subsequently synchronize email accounts, buy applications, download and synchronize audio and video files, and store a backup copy (more on this below).

    After selecting your region, your iPad will prompt you to connect to a Wi-Fi network to activate iTunes. In the list of found networks, select your home network and enter its password.


    Once activated, the device will ask if you want to use location services. Geolocation determines the user's spatial location and allows the use of maps, and is also used by some applications.

    The user's location is confidential information protected by the user agreement, so if you are not James Bond or Edward Snowden, you can safely turn on geolocation services.

    Backup

    The next step is to choose how to configure the device. You are offered three points:

    • Set up like a new iPad;
    • Recover from iCloud copy;
    • Restore from a copy.

    Let's dwell on this point in a little more detail. Apple devices give the user the ability to make a backup copy (the so-called Back-Up), which allows you to save all information about the device settings, installed applications, contacts, etc. This allows you, when purchasing a new Apple device, not to configure it “from scratch”, but simply transfer a backup copy.

    But this function is especially necessary if a smartphone or tablet is lost (stolen, broken). It's no secret that in our time, information stored on storage media can be many times more expensive than the storage media itself, so in no case neglect to save a backup copy.

    In this case, no matter what happens, you will only lose the device itself, albeit an expensive one, but you will fully preserve the data stored on it, contacts, messages, correspondence, photos, videos, etc.

    The standard backup storage location is a remote disk or “cloud”. Storing data “in the cloud” allows you not to save device memory, and most importantly, to access your information from any gadget from anywhere in the world, as long as there is access to the Internet at that point in the world. Apple's cloud technologies are represented by the iCloud service.

    If for some reason (for example, lack of stable access to the Internet) you do not want to store information on a remote disk, you can save a backup copy on your computer using the iTunes application.

    But, since you are interested in setting up the iPad, it is logical to assume that this is your first point of introduction to Apple gadgets, so feel free to choose the first point.

    Account Setup

    The next step is personification. For personalization in the Apple environment, an Apple ID account is used. An account is your “passport” in Apple services. you are asked to sign in with an existing AppleID or create a new one.

    You can also skip this step, but this is not recommended, since only by identifying yourself (that is, proving that you are you and not a random person or, even worse, an attacker) using your account, you can use all the services offered fully.

    By selecting “Create AppleID”, you will be taken to a page where you will be asked to enter an email address, which will also be your login, create a password and a security question to recover your password. You are completely free to choose a security question, the main thing is that this question is known only to you, and you are sure that you will certainly not forget the answer to this question.

    Important! Be sure to use a real-life and used (not “disposable”) email address as your login. Subsequently, this address can be very useful to you, for example, to recover your password.

    In addition, you will be asked to enter your bank card details, with which you can make purchases in the AppleStore online application store.

    If for some reason you don't want to enter your card details, you'll have to use a little trick: create an account using iTunes. To do this, through iTunes on your computer, go to the AppleStore and select any free application, for example, the iBooks book reader.

    When you try to download the program, you will be asked to log in with an existing account or create a new one. We need the second option. In the menu that appears, enter the same data - address, login, password and security question with answer. But in the bank card data entry field, select none. Then log in to the newly created account on your iPad.

    Next, we agree to connect to the already described “cloud” service iCloud and activate the “find iPad” service. With this service, after logging in with your account, you can track the position of the device (this is where geolocation comes in handy) and send a sound signal to it, which will greatly help in the search.


    Or if the iPad is stolen. you can block it and remotely give a command to destroy all information stored on the iPad. We can then restore all the information from the iCloud backup - a very useful service!

    If you've just bought your new iPad, and you're about to set it up and make it work as quickly and efficiently as possible. With iCloud, you can do this right on your iPad, without a computer or cable connection. If you prefer the old approach, you can also set up your new iPad using iTunes on your Mac or Windows PC.

    For most people, in most cases, I recommend iCloud, but I'll walk you through both methods, and below is one of them.

    How to Set Up Your New iPad

    If you turn on your new iPad, you'll be greeted with a lock screen that simply says “iPad.” Well, let's get started.

    Note: Both options are checked by default. Take your time, you should look at the selection and click one to test it before the Next button appears, which will activate your iPad. will force you to pay more attention than is often required on the Internet or in applications.

    Keep your battery always charged, I always recommend setting up your new iPad with the battery charged as new (see above). If you have an old iPad or other iOS devices and need access to your old data quickly, or if you have the idea of ​​starting from scratch again, you have the option of simply restoring your new iPad from a backup of your old device.

    1.Select recovery frombackup copy from iCloud.

    Modern iPads have some very useful features that are worth getting to know as quickly as possible.

    The first one is Control room. To open it, place your finger on the bottom edge of the screen (where the white, black, or gold colored plastic ends and the screen begins) and slide it up across the screen. You will see toggle icons for valuable settings - Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane mode and Do Not Disturb.


    Here you can also adjust the screen brightness and volume, control the music playing and quickly access the tablet's camera. It's important to remember that the brighter the screen, the faster your iPad's battery will drain. The charge will run out much faster when using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and geolocation services. If you don’t need them here and now, you should turn them off.

    Another important thing - Notification Center. To get to it, swipe from the top edge of the screen towards the center. Here you will see notifications (messages about something important) from games and programs installed on the iPad Air / iPad Air 2 - messages from social networks, calendar entries and reminders.     Basic Settings for iPad Air/iPad Air 2
