China is no longer a sign of poor quality; they have built factories and produce all popular brands of cars, air conditioners, monitors and many other equipment... Including phones!

The Chinese can produce such copies, which have flooded the markets of many countries, due to the fact that all phone manufacturers have long since built their factories in the Middle Kingdom, and, which is typical, if you are now holding a phone in your hands, where the inscription on the back says: He " made in Finland", then you shouldn’t count on the Finns making this phone inside and out... In reality, 70-80% of phones in Finland are assembled from parts that were made in China, and no one bothers with batteries and other accessories for a long time. As a result, Chinese technology has long been in our hands and we are satisfied with the quality of workmanship!

Actually, such a product, like many others, is equipment that the Chinese do not send anywhere, but steal the basic technology, and they are often produced in the same factories where the original phones are made; are being finalized and put on the domestic market, these phones are coming to us in Russia unofficially, i.e. without going through our huge bureaucratic apparatus, and thus do not increase in price to the same heights as the original ones...

In this review I would like to present a handset that has been in production for almost 3 years, and despite such a long period of time, its popularity has not fallen, and its functional equipment is several times superior to many phones in the same price range...

Design, dimensions, control elements

The designers did their best and tried to give this model the look and feel of a well-made metal tube from the famous Nokia brand. When you take the device in your hands, you feel that it is, if not completely, then partially made of metal. Weight – 131 grams. It fits perfectly in your hands, pulling your hand with its weight. We must remember that people often associate weight with reliability, here this feeling is in abundance. And partly this is true; a drop test drive showed that the phone does not break into components even when dropped from a height of 1.5 - 2 meters...

There are two color options available – white and dark silver (white/Silver Grey). In my opinion, both will find their fans. The model does not have a clearly defined gender characteristic and is suitable for both men and women.

On the front panel there is a front camera for video calls, as well as a light indicator (to the left of the speaker, as well as a proximity indicator - proximity sensor ). In addition to the touch screen, a large mechanical keyboard with standard buttons was made, plus many of the most necessary functional buttons were added, such as: calling a TV player, dialing for SIM 1 and SIM 2, receive, hang up, and 2 functional ones, and there are also 5 touch keys right under the screen , to call the player, phone book, SMS, Internet... On the right side there is a camera button and volume keys.

The speakerphone and call signal speakers are located on the back of the device, it is worth noting the very high-quality 3D sound, the sound is clear and very loud, on a busy street it will shout above the outside noise and it will be difficult not to hear it. There is also a two-section LED flash and a 2-megapixel camera without autofocus.

There are no complaints about the build quality, the device is assembled quite tightly, it is good in this regard.

Display

The screen has a resolution of 240x320 pixels and displays up to 260 thousand colors. The screen type is AMOLED, in direct sunlight the image eventually fades, but the picture remains quite readable.

Indoors, it is impossible to notice any difference between the copy and the original in terms of the quality of the picture on the screen; the devices are the same. In the sun they are also not very different, at least in the dim autumn sun.

Up to 16 lines of text can fit on the screen (not in all modes)

The built-in light sensor automatically adjusts the screen backlight depending on external conditions. As a rule, the level is underestimated, so it is better to set in the menu the value that is comfortable for you (for me it is 65-70 percent of the maximum). You cannot manually adjust the backlight level.

The bottom line is that we can say the following about the screen: no worse and no better than on the original Nokia in terms of picture quality, perhaps it will be a little better in bright sun. The smaller diagonal makes it less convenient (the on-screen keyboard is smaller), but the difference is not fundamental. A good, modern screen, there are not enough stars in the sky, but it also has no obvious disadvantages.

Memory, memory cards

Memory in this Chinese phone only 2 MB, it is allocated for regular applications or your data. There is no built-in additional memory, but there are microSD memory cards up to 16 GB. The memory card slot is located under the back cover.

The amount of RAM in the phone is 64 MB, which is of course less than on the original, but quite enough for work.

Battery

Camera

Regular 2 megapixel camera without autofocus, just like the original. The image quality is acceptable on a clear day at long distances. The camera simply can’t take pictures up close, photographs of text are something else, and with a flash the camera also produces mediocre results. In my opinion, this is a very big drawback, since the camera does not stand up to any criticism, its quality is below average, if not worse. However, for this price segment, such a camera is par for the course, and many people hardly use a phone camera at all, this is a personal matter for everyone...

Video. The camera records video in 720p resolution (25 frames per second, H.264 codec). The video quality is normal.

Software

TV player, FM radio

Called by a separate key, the signal quality is quite good... I tested it around the city and in nature it picks up almost all channels, the quality drops only in an apartment with thick ceilings, but as soon as you go to the window and the signal level again approaches the maximum, however, a case is described on the Internet: One owner of this device attached wires from a regular indoor antenna (which is on the roof) to the antenna; with this upgrade, the phone even picked up satellite channels.

Picture quality is good, the built-in accelerometer will automatically flip the picture depending on the position Chinese phone.

It is possible to record your favorite programs from both radio and TV.

In describing the radio receiver, I think we should limit ourselves to the fact that either an external antenna or a wired headset can be used as an antenna, as in all devices, but in general the radio receiver is standard.

Impressions

Almost all phones have 2 active SIM cards and an analogue TV receiver. Some people don’t even know that they have a fake in their pocket, and sincerely believe that it is a new model with a TV. Sometimes there are good devices, but the flashy design and terrible translation repel potential buyers. But everything is not so bad: time passes, manufacturers are improving, and quite high-quality phones are coming on sale that deserve attention.

When selling a phone to any country, you need to work directly with buyers, and if any problems arise, you should solve them immediately. Although in our country people are not embarrassed if the menu says “Log Call”, and they still buy such phones. Some enterprising Chinese phone sellers work according to an interesting scheme: they choose a large country, for example, Russia, and start selling customized phones. The seller goes to the factory, orders a batch of phones with Russian on the keys, and there they correct the ridiculous translation in the menu. Then a Russian-language online store is created. Typically, purchases are paid via PayPal or Western Union. Often the seller gives priority to Western Union, since the strict Chinese government verifies PayPal payments, and therefore the payment takes a long time to go through. Appearance

The device almost completely copies the design of the Nokia E71, and there are no inscriptions on it a la Nokla and the like. There are slight discrepancies in length, but the difference is only noticeable when the two phones are next to each other. Thanks to its slim design, the phone fits comfortably into your jeans or shirt pocket. The details fit well. The phone does not creak in your hands: you can feel the strength of the structure.

The chrome edging around the case and the insert under the keyboard are completely metal. The back cover is also completely made of metal. The cover texture is the same as in the first batches of Nokia E71. Thanks to a well-thought-out fastening, the lid holds very well. Even after falling, the phone will not break into pieces.

The screen is covered with mirrored plastic, above which there is a camera for video calls. It’s not clear why it was made, because the device does not support 3G.

At the top end there is a telescopic antenna for an analog TV receiver and a phone power button, at the bottom there is a standard 2 mm compatible Nokia connector for connecting a charger. On the right side there is a 2.5 mm headset jack, volume buttons, a camera or flashlight button, and a standard microUSB.

On the back side there is a 1.3 MP camera (don't believe the 8.0 MP label), LED flash, self-portrait mirror and speaker. The speaker location is poorly chosen. When the phone is on the table, the ringing volume becomes very weak and distortion can be heard.

The screen leaves an ambiguous impression: good viewing angles, a bright picture, 2.4-inch diagonal, 320x240 resolution, physical size 44 mm by 33 mm, but in the sun the screen fades, and seeing anything becomes a difficult task.

Externally, the keyboard is exactly the same as on the Nokia E71, but there are differences in the arrangement of symbols and some keys.

In standby mode, using the keys you can quickly open SMS, calendar, contacts, games, video player, music player, voice recorder. To the right of the joystick there are separate keys for launching television and the built-in web browser. Pressing the spacebar opens a panel with quick launch of multimedia applications. On the original Nokia E71, the keys are pressed softer. With the Chinese device, the pressure is clearly felt, but there is not much difference, getting used to it is quite quick. All symbols are printed in white. For beginners, this is a big drawback, because... Latin and Russian letters will merge. You can also notice the typical handwriting of Chinese devices: the characters are not printed as smoothly as on the original. I asked a person who constantly uses Nokia E71 to type text on the Chinese equivalent. He didn't notice any significant difference. Therefore, you can get used to it quite quickly. The only drawback for those using T9 is that it is missing here. So sometimes you have to press the keys several times to select the corresponding symbols, such as e-e, z-e, b-b. If you press the volume keys while entering text, the input method will switch to ABC, abc, 123 and back to the Russian layout. Text after a period, question and exclamation mark begins with a capital letter. There is no Shift key here as such. To enter text in capital letters, you need to press the bottommost key and select Multitap RU from the proposed layouts. To enter a comma and a period, you need to press x and g, respectively. There is also a separate key that will display all available characters for input. It is clear that the developers have worked on the convenience of text entry: knowing the Chinese devices, I expected the worst. The keys are backlit in white; in the dark, all the inscriptions on the keys are clearly visible.

Battery

As you have already noticed, the phone uses a similar battery from Nokia. Model BL-5F with a capacity of 1200 mAh. When using 2 SIM cards, 20 minutes of TV watching, 30 minutes of talking, about an hour of browsing the Internet, the charge lasted until the middle of the next day. There is USB charging and a compatible Nokia AC adapter, so you won't have any problems charging your phone.

Memory

The phone has 87.7 MB of internal memory, 82 MB free. MicroSD memory cards are supported. A 2 GB memory card is included. You can remove the memory card only after removing the battery.

USB, Bluetooth

It was nice to know that the phone can be charged via USB. When you connect your phone to your computer, a selection of operating modes appears:

Interface

The phone is built on a popular platform for this segment of devices – MTK. The desktop in standby mode and the menu are vaguely reminiscent of the S60, but it has nothing in common with it. The operating speed is quite fast, the animation in the menu is displayed smoothly. The various menu items are laid out logically, but sometimes you have to strain to find the right icon. After some time, you will already be confident in navigating the menu.

In standby mode, 6 customizable application icons, information about SIM cards, a calendar, and status icons and a clock are available on the phone screen.

Phone book

Contacts in the phone book are not arranged in alphabetical order, but using the QWERTY keyboard you can easily find the contact you need. As it turned out later, all contacts are arranged depending on the number of characters in the contact name, but it was not possible to find alphabetical sorting. It is possible to show contacts on the selected SIM card, from the phone memory, or completely all contacts. The phone successfully received a contact via Bluetooth from Nokia, but transferring a large number of contacts causes errors. Using special software, you can synchronize contacts from Outlook or edit them manually directly on your PC. You can set the selected ringtone and photo to any user. The phone memory holds 1000 contacts. There is support for groups.

Applications

The phone comes pre-installed with various social applications such as AOL, eBuddy, Facebook, MSN, Opera Mini 4, Skype, Yahoo. Installing Java applications is quite simple and does not cause any problems. The phone's hardware is rather weak, and modern resource-intensive applications slow down. For example, Opera Mini 4 works quite quickly, but the fifth version is already significantly slower. You can only run one application. You can collapse it, but you won’t be able to launch the second one. Even in order to open the camera, you need to close Java applications. ICQ clients can hang in the background and receive messages, however, we had to find a suitable client, because... notification didn't work. But after a short search, we managed to find a version that, when minimized, can signal a new message with a sound signal.

Accelerometer

It’s unusual to see an accelerometer here, or, as the Chinese like to write, G-sensor. The sensitivity of the accelerometer is poorly calibrated, and therefore false positives often occur. If you play around with the settings, I think you can achieve normal operation. When you shake the device, you can change the wallpaper, turn off the melody when there is a call, switch songs, adjust the volume and switch channels.

TV receiver

It is for the ability to watch television that many unpretentious users of Chinese phones love such devices. Indeed, what else should a security guard on night duty or a taxi driver do while waiting for the next client? For example, when there was a Victory Parade, and crowds of people surrounded Tverskaya Street, wanting to see military equipment, there was no warning on the street about what was currently happening at the parade. But, remembering that I had a “pocket TV,” I quickly tuned in to one of the central channels and started watching. Bored people immediately turned their heads in my direction and also began to watch.

There is only one model with an analog TV receiver sold on our market - Samsung Star TV (S5233TV). In fact, having a TV receiver in your pocket is very convenient: you can always find out the latest news, watch football, and you don’t have to pay any subscription fee. Viewing starts automatically when you pull out the 24cm long telescopic antenna or after pressing a key on the keyboard. The setup is quite simple: select the country, scan begins, and in a minute you can watch the found channels. While viewing, you can record a video or take a screenshot. The sound from the speaker is quite loud and of good quality. If you don’t want to disturb anyone, you can connect a headset. In an area with good reception there is no need for an antenna.

Audio and Video

The music player is made quite simply and is pleasant to look at. The player has 3 covers. You can change the equalizer style. The sound settings have preset equalizer modes. You can also turn on bass boost or “pseudo 3D”. Podcast listeners will note the ability to change playback speed. Songs are taken from a specific folder, and there is no sorting by tags. Music can be listened to in the background. When you launch the application, the song is paused, and when you exit the application, playback begins. The kit includes an adapter for a 3.5mm headphone output. The sound quality is quite good.

The video player is quite simple and has no settings. The functions are minimal: you can rewind the video and adjust the sound volume; pressing the space bar takes a screenshot. Movie lovers will have to convert the video to the screen resolution - 320x240. AVI and 3GP formats are supported, but do not spoil your eyesight.

Camera

It looks like the phone was equipped with the cheapest camera module - most likely 1.3 MP, and the photo quality is not even up to 1.3 MP. Next to the camera it says 8.0 MP. Friends who pick up the device feel the metal, good assembly, chrome inserts, see this inscription and sincerely believe it! The camera is launched by pressing the button located between the volume buttons, and pressing it for a long time turns on the flash diode, which can be used as a flashlight. The camera has quite a lot of settings. Sometimes it is not clear what all this is for. It looks like they just want to create the appearance that this is something special. But the variety of settings does not save the situation. No matter how I try to change them, the quality of the photos is still poor. The presence of a second camera above the screen is also unclear: it can only be used as a mirror or for self-portraits. Video recording is quite weak, the resolution is 176x144 pixels at 8 frames per second.

I can immediately say that the Nokia E71 TV phone is really well made and factory assembled. And if there is no manufacturing defect in it initially, and you can find out this during the warranty period, in our case 2 weeks, then this phone will work perfectly for a long time, of course, if it is treated accordingly.
