• Instructions for refilling hp 178 refillable cartridges. Printing consumables at wholesale prices. Refilling an inkjet printer for high-quality printing

The financial costs do not end with the purchase of a printer. As sad as it may be, the truth of this statement cannot be disputed. After a certain time, the ink in the cartridge runs out. The commonplace statement that nothing lasts forever under the sun becomes an obvious fact in the form of the technical imperfection of a particular device. At such moments, a practical user thinks about how to refill an HP cartridge. Because I am convinced that this is the most effective way to protect yourself from unjustified expenses on expensive consumables. As you understand, the article is dedicated specifically to printing devices of the American brand Hewlett-Packard, whose logo is often associated with the term “usability,” which you can see for yourself by putting into practice the tips and recommendations from the material presented.

How to refill an HP cartridge correctly: step-by-step instructions

It's no secret that users often approach the troubleshooting process unprepared. That is, having only superficial information about what needs to be done, and having no idea at all what wrong actions can lead to. At the same time, a trip to a specialized store for a new cartridge could easily be avoided.

    Step No. 1. Wise diagnosis

Before you worry about running out of ink or start experimenting with how to refill an HP cartridge, there are a few things you can do using your printer software.

    • Make sure that the printing device (PU) “sees” the cartridges as a correctly installed component.
    • What ink level is detected by the printer?

If the cartridge has sufficient ink volume, but the diagnostic page prints blank, proceed to the next step.

    Step #2: Clean the nozzles

    • Using the printer software, access Device Services.
    • Activate the “Clean Cartridges” process.

As a rule, the last point has a three-step execution script. Therefore, carry out a full cleaning cycle. If the described actions do not have a beneficial effect or the detected ink level is critical, the HP cartridge must be refilled.

Step No. 3. Preparing the tool

In order to properly fill the containers of a refillable cartridge (REC), you will need:

    • Four syringes with needles.
    • Napkins.
    • Scotch.
    • Gloves.
    • Dye.

This is a standard refill kit for a block-type slam-shut valve with an integrated print head. If your modification of the PU is serviced by a different type of cartridge, be aware: there is a separate syringe for each color.

Step No. 4. Color filling of tanks

Typically, the outside of the cartridge has a special sticker that displays information identifying the printing component. Peel it off carefully. Each hole (sometimes there are two for each paint compartment) is a filling channel for a specific color.

Important! The practical steps that will lead you to understand how to refill an HP cartridge should be done slowly. Utmost attention is your best friend in such a situation as the location of the colored tanks is often confused by the user. For example, red ink flows into the yellow compartment of the cartridge, etc. Usually the color of the ink is visible when examining the refill hole in detail. Otherwise, use a match, the wood of which will stain when it comes into contact with the absorbent material of the chamber.

    • First fill the syringes with ink.
    • Slowly inject paint into the corresponding color compartment.
    • Cover the filling holes with tape (cut to the size of the stickers).
    • Use a tissue to remove any traces of ink from the surface of the print head.

Attention! Movements should be predominantly tangential rather than rubbing. Do not turn the PZK container upside down, as ink may flow out of the print head, which, in turn, will negatively affect the overall process, and you will never know how to refill an HP cartridge.

Step #5: Clean and Print a Test Page

If you did everything correctly, then a “colorful” result is guaranteed. When the printed page “sins” with the displacement of some parts of the design, it is necessary to carry out another type of adjustment - aligning the cartridges, which can be done by launching the process of the same name in the printer control panel.

    Summing up

So, you have received the necessary knowledge on how to refill an HP cartridge yourself. Now, in a situation where you run out of paint, you will feel like a confident user. However, this is only a small part of what full operational maintenance of printing devices includes. Do not forget that, in addition to electronics, the printer has quite a lot of different mechanics, which will work for a long time and properly only if you know and follow the simple rules. All the best to you!

Refillable cartridges are an excellent alternative to original ones, which can only be used once. Instead of spending a lot of money on purchasing another cartridge, you should try installing refillable cartridges for HP on your printer or multifunction printer.

Externally, refillable cartridges do not differ from the original ones; they have identical dimensions and a similar design. The main difference is the ability to use the cartridge body to refill ink an endless number of times. Non-original HP cartridges are equipped with special chips that can be reset before each refill. This zeroing helps the HP printer or multifunction printer perceive the cartridges as original and work with them without problems. The presence of refill holes in the cartridge body and the transparent body allows you to see how much ink of which color needs to be added to the container.

Complete kit for comfortable installation of HP shut-off valves

Lucky Print not only cares about helping you save on original supplies. Our specialists compile a complete set of everything necessary for installation and operation of the shut-off switch.

Included with the cartridge itself you will receive detailed instructions that will help both in installing and operating the cartridge, as well as a refilling kit for HP cartridges. The installation of cartridges for hp inkjet printers is carried out directly inside the device, in place of the original cartridge. The parameters are identical to the original ones and do not require changing the internal structure of the printer or MFP to install the shut-off switch. The lightweight body of such a cartridge helps maintain the functionality of the carriage in which it is located and the print head for a long time. HP (Hewlett Packard) color cartridges have a shorter ink life than CISS, but are more convenient to use. Since they are placed inside the device, they do not take up additional space on the desktop.

The quality of prints obtained using PZK remains at a consistently high level, and when using pigment ink it becomes indistinguishable from the original. At the same time, the cost of a refillable cartridge is significantly lower than the original one, and the subsequent purchase of ink for refilling will not entail serious printing costs. When a cartridge's lifespan comes to an end, thanks to a simple scheme, everyone can handle refilling on their own: reset the chip and add ink into special holes on the cartridge.

For different printer models there may be differences in the appearance of the cartridges, but the refilling and installation technology is identical!

    1. Preparing for refueling
For refilling you need to prepare syringes with a volume of 10 ml. and napkins (you may need them during the refueling process)
    2. Replacement of the chip (for PCB models without chips)
If your slam-shut valves are equipped with chips, skip this step.
To work, you will need to swap the chips from original cartridges to refillable ones. Rearrange the chips one by one, ensure that the colors of the cartridge chips match, each chip is responsible for its own cartridge, for its own color. At first carefully remove the chip from the original cartridge; this can be done using a utility knife or a screwdriver with a flat sharp tip. Then install the chip into the slot of the refillable cartridge. To fix the chip, you will need to solder the plastic holders on which the chip is attached; this can be done with the same screwdriver, having previously heated it with a lighter or soldering iron.
    3. Fill the syringe with ink
    4. Refilling the cartridge
Take a cartridge with a sticker of the corresponding color. Each cartridge has two holes on top: an ink hole and an air hole. Insert the nozzle of the syringe (without a needle) tightly into the filling hole: as shown in the figure.
Smoothly fill the ink to about 90%. If ink suddenly spills out through the air hole, use a syringe to pump the ink back out and blot it with a napkin. After refilling, the syringes can be rinsed with plain water and dried to be used the next time you refill.
After filling with ink, firmly insert the rubber plug (included in the kit) into the filling hole.
    5. Installation in the printer
    ATTENTION:
The air hole must remain open during printing. During long periods of inactivity without printing or transporting the printer with cartridges, it is necessary to tightly close the air hole with a plug (i.e., both holes must be closed).

After refilling all the cartridges, carefully remove the orange stands and insert the cartridges one by one into the printer. Do not touch the bottom flap as Ink may bleed.

Actions to take if printing deteriorates.

    Do a nozzle test.
If 1-2 nozzles are missing, then do not take any action. Let the system sit for 1-2 hours. Then do the nozzle test again. All nozzles must be restored.
If more nozzles are missing, then run the cleaning using the utility on your computer, once. Then let the system sit for 30-40 minutes. In 90% of cases, the nozzles will be restored. If you have not recovered, run the cleaning again and wait again for 30-40 minutes.

Prevents clogging and drying of nozzles.
Keep the mouthguard (head parking space) clean. Wipe it regularly. Ink that leaks while the head is parked can get back inside the cartridge. If this does happen, then when printing you will find a color mismatch; on the nozzle test you will immediately see this (for example, instead of blue there will be raspberry). Pull out the cartridge and carefully use a syringe to pump out some ink through the bottom rubber valve and insert the cartridge back.

    Application of ink.

For reliable CISS operation, use only high-quality ink. Don't try to save money on them. This saving can result not only in printing problems, but also in failure of the printer’s print head.

    CISS refueling technology.

When the ink level in the containers reaches about 2cm, refilling is necessary. To do this, remove the filters from the air compartment and tightly close the holes with a rubber plug. Open the ink compartment plug, install the funnel, carefully fill in the ink (they should be the same as they were filled in earlier and do not forget to shake them first), do this operation for each color in turn. Remove the ink funnel, close the ink compartment with a plug, and only then open the air compartments and insert the air filters. The air compartment must be empty.

Although in appearance HP cartridges are very similar to Canon cartridges, the method of operation and, accordingly, refills for these cartridges are different. This manual explains the correct way to fill the Pacxodka HP178 and Pacxodka HP655 slam-shut valves. Correct refueling and compliance with some of the rules that will be discussed are the key to the correct operation of the slam-shut valve and the printer as a whole.

    1. Preparing to refill the cartridge.

Filling the Pacxodka HP178 and Pacxodka HP655 PZK is done with ordinary medical syringes; no special tools or devices are required.

New cartridge HP178, HP655 with protective tape still installed, in a refill clip.

Before refilling, you need to remove the yellow tape that seals the air hole of the cartridge; the tape is glued to the cartridge body and can be easily removed.

In rare cases, the air hole of the cartridge, after removing the tape, remains closed by glue residues, or by a part of the tape that has not come off; it is very important for the normal functioning of the cartridge that the hole allows air to enter the cartridge. Please make sure this is true:

The easiest way to make sure that the hole is not blocked by residual glue and protective tape is to pierce it with the needle of the syringe that you will use to refill the cartridge:

The cartridge is ready for refilling, all you have to do is remove the plug from the filling hole and you can start refilling:

The cartridge is refilled through a hole initially closed with a stopper, a mandatory rule that must be followed; the stopper limits the free access of air into the cartridge chamber, which creates a slight vacuum in it, which in turn prevents the free flow of ink from the cartridge.

Important: The cartridge plug should not open if the cartridge is not installed in the refill clip (orange in the photo), and must be closed before removing the cartridge from the refill clip.

Through the filling hole you can start refilling the "Pacxodka HP178" and "Pacxodka HP655" cartridges with ink:

The Pacxodka PZK uses a high-quality filler that instantly absorbs ink; the photo shows the process of ink absorption by the cartridge filler

The cartridge is refilled when the foam is saturated with ink and no longer absorbs ink:

Important: The filling (compensation) compartment of the cartridge must be empty. Otherwise, the pressure in the cartridge will not be stabilized, and you will get blots on the paper and poor print quality. The cartridge is refilled until the filler absorbs ink; after the filler is completely saturated with ink (it stops absorbing ink from the filling chamber), ink filling must be stopped. If more ink was added, some ink remains in the chamber; it must be pumped out with a syringe.

The cartridge is refilled and ready for use, the ink in the compartments is filled correctly, the filling hole is closed:

Important: Do not rush to install it into the printer immediately after refilling the cartridge. Let the cartridge sit for half an hour to equalize the pressure and distribute the ink evenly across the filler fibers. This note is important only when refilling the cartridge for the first time. Repeated and subsequent refills do not require settling of the cartridge.

A correctly refilled cartridge will not leak ink after refilling, the cartridge is guaranteed not to flood the printer mechanisms with excess ink, and will print perfectly:

The cartridge is ready to be installed in the printer. All cartridges are refilled in the same way.

Repeated and further refills are carried out in the same way as the initial refill, with the exception that the cartridge can be installed in the printer immediately after refilling.

Tip: Prepare the ink before removing the ink cartridge from the printer. Then, over time, you will spend no more than 15 seconds refilling the cartridge. The syringe can be reused after filling, sterility is not required when filling, the main thing is after filling with ink, rinse the syringe and dry it.

    3. Working with cartridges

If your kit does not have an “autochip” installed, the printer will print the cartridge as a standard one and then indicate that the cartridge is out of ink and needs to be replaced.

When, according to the printer, the cartridge is empty, you must disable the ink control in the printer, otherwise the printer will block operation on “empty” cartridges. This is done in the printer menu or settings on the computer if the printer does not have a display.

Disable ink control in HP printers. Allows you to print on an “expired” cartridge.

After disabling the cartridge chip control, your printer will not show the approximate ink level, but it will not block the printer from asking you to install a new cartridge.

The user's task is to monitor the ink in the cartridge; Pacxodka PLCs are made of transparent plastic, which allows you to visually monitor the ink level and not miss the moment when the cartridge runs out.
