• How to upgrade to Windows 7 without a disk. A quick way to install Windows without a disk or flash drive. Hard drive setup

    This article describes how to install or reinstall Windows 7.

    Before installation begins, you need to complete several preparatory steps. At the beginning of the article we have placed detailed content so that you can quickly view the entire sequence of actions and move on to the necessary part of the instructions.

    If you are interested in a specific question (such as installation errors, how to enter and configure the BIOS, etc.), the links in the content will take you directly to it.

    If you are a beginner, then simply follow the guide from start to finish: each point is described in as much detail as possible and includes links to supporting instructions.

    What should be ready before installation

    Review the list below to ensure your computer and system are ready to install or reinstall Windows 7 and follow the steps required to complete the preparations.

    What types of installation are there, how to save personal files and programs

    There are two types of installation:
    • A complete reinstallation of the operating system (OS), which completely erases a hard drive partition (or the entire drive), including all your programs, documents and files.
    • An OS update that only updates system files.
    Updating the OS has a number of disadvantages. Therefore, it is recommended to perform a complete reinstallation of the system, and for this you will need to save all personal files and program settings.

    If you haven't done this yet, read the article on preparing for installation, from it you will learn:

    • how to save all important personal data;
    • what programs will be needed immediately after installation and where to download them;
    • Is it possible to copy installed drivers, where can I find the drivers after installation;
    • analysis of some special cases;
    Save all data and proceed to the next step.

    How to legally download the original image of Windows 7 x64 or x32 for free.

    Download original image can be done legally using the program "Windows ISO Downloader": the file with the Windows image will be downloaded with Microsoft official website.

    Program file "Windows ISO Downloader" with version 5.21 (dated September 20, 2017) is attached to the article (to the right of this text).
    How to download the image correctly is shown in the figure below:

    Select the Windows 7 partition, then the desired edition of the Windows 7 image and the “Confirm” button.

    Attention!
    We strongly we do not recommend use Windows 7 builds - use only original system images.

    Microsoft has several aircraft hangars with a variety of equipment designed to test the operation of the operating system on various combinations of devices. Therefore, the official OS image works correctly for the vast majority of users.

    The authors of assemblies do not have such testing capabilities, so a certain percentage of users will experience problems during the operation of the assembly, which can only be resolved by completely reinstalling Windows.

    Which image version to choose: 32 bit or 64 bit

    Everything is very simple: a 64-bit OS is needed in two cases: so that the computer can “see” 4GB or more of RAM and so that you can work with “heavy” programs or games. Attention!
    Some new programs and games may not run on 32-bit Windows.
    Conclusions:

    • If the amount of RAM is 4GB or more, feel free to choose x64 (64 bits).
    • If the computer is old and complex programs (for example, audio and video editors, design systems, multimedia packages) are not used, choose x32 (32 bits).
    More information about the difference between a 32-bit and a 64-bit operating system is provided in this article.

    The easiest way to see how much RAM you have is to right-click on the icon "My computer" → select item "Properties" in the context menu.

    The window that opens will indicate the amount of RAM, as well as the bit capacity of the system currently installed.

    Which version of Windows 7 should I choose: Home, Professional or Ultimate?

    There are different versions (editions) of Windows 7, some of which differ greatly in functionality. You can read more about Windows versions.

    Most often, when installing, they choose between versions of “ Professional " And " Ultimate ».
    The best choice in terms of image version would be « Windows 7 Professional » .
    But don’t worry if you have a different edition of Windows - the installation process will be similar.
    In the edition " Professional » unlike "Ultimate" there are a number of services that most users will never use.
    You probably haven't even heard their names: DirectAccess, Unix Application Launch Subsystem, BranchCache, BitLocker, etc. Accordingly, hard disk space version « Professional » will take less.

    How to properly burn an image to a DVD or USB flash drive?

    If you have already recorded the image and the installation from it went smoothly, then you can immediately move on to the next chapter. If you do not know which programs can be used to burn an image to a disk or flash drive, then the following auxiliary articles will help you: Please note that installation from a flash drive is more reliable and is also faster. If you have a flash drive with a capacity of 4GB or more, then it is better to install from it.

    Windows reinstallation process.

    So, preparation for installation is complete: all personal data has been saved, the media with the operating system distribution has been created, and the partition on which the image will be installed has been prepared.

    Setting boot device priority in BIOS

    1. Restart your computer and enter the BIOS.
      • on personal computers, buttons are most often used to enter the BIOS « DELETE» (« Del»), « F2", "F1", "Esc»
      • on laptops - keys « F8", "F9", "F12", "Esc»
    2. After going to the BIOS, you need to find the menu section responsible for installing devices to boot the OS.
      The partition may be located in different places (depending on the type of motherboard and BIOS version), so you need to find the menu « FIRST BOOT DEVICE », « BOOT » or « BOOT DEVICE ».
    1. You need to go to this section of the menu and set the drive to the first place DVD or HDD(your Flash drive) depending on what media the image was recorded on.
    2. After this, you need to exit the BIOS and save the changes.
      Most often, to save changes, you need to press the key before exiting. « F 10" , and then confirm saving by pressing « Y » or by selecting « Yes » in the dialog box.
    If you have difficulty entering the BIOS, saving changes, or finding boot device priority settings, then read the article about setting parameters in the BIOS.

    In the article you will find instructions with examples:

    • how to enter BIOS or UEFI with examples of different BIOS screens.
    • how to find the option "BOOT DEVICA PRIORITY".
    • table with a list of keys for entering the BIOS on laptops from different manufacturers.

    Autorun Windows installation from a DVD or flash drive

    If you did everything correctly, then after restarting your computer you will see the following:

    • if you are using DVD media, you will see the message “Press any key to load from CD...” (press any key to boot from CD). You must immediately press any key, because after a short amount of time (about 10 seconds) the boot will begin from the next boot device installed in the BIOS.
    • if you used a flash drive, the installation will begin immediately
    Remember!
    When installing an operating system, you should be careful and careful with functions that you do not fully understand.
    The site administration is not responsible for the results of your actions.

    Start installation

    Attention!
    Your computer may have gray and blue USB connectors. If you are installing the OS from a flash drive, be sure to plug the flash drive into the connector USB2.0 (gray), otherwise the installer may not see it.
    You can judge that the operating system installer has started working by the line that appears at the bottom of the screen.

    Figure 1. Installer Windows 7 copies files from the media for further installation of the OS.
    When preparation for installation is complete, you will see the message "Starting Windows" .
    After this, the Windows 7 installation window will appear.

    We will leave the time format, installed language and keyboard layout unchanged (as shown in Figure 2). Click on the button "Next" , after which you can start the process by clicking on the button "Install" .

    You should now read and agree to the Microsoft License Agreement and click the button again "Next" .

    Selecting the installation type

    • A system update will allow you to reinstall Windows on top of your existing operating system.
    • A full installation will allow you to select an existing partition for installation or re-partition the hard drive. The system will be installed completely, so this option is more acceptable (we wrote more about installation types at the beginning of the article).

    Figure 5. Selecting the operating system installation type.
    Choose "Full installation (advanced options)", as shown in Figure 5.

    Figure 6. Selecting a hard drive for further installation Windows 7.

    Hard disk partitions for system installation

    After proceeding to the full installation, we will be presented with a list of hard drives on which we can create or select partitions for installation. At this step there may be several options for the development of events.

    • You only have one hard drive in your system.
    • You have a separate hard drive (possibly an SSD) where the operating system will be installed, and separate drives for storing data.
    • The installer does not see the hard drive or other errors occur (below are links to articles that discuss these problems step by step)
    Attention!
    If you have several hard drives, then transfer all important data to the drive where you will store personal files and disconnect it so as not to accidentally mix up the drives when creating partitions or formatting.
    If you only have one hard drive (or SSD), then it is advisable to split it into parts (if the disk space allows it).

    The disk must be divided into parts so that at least 50GB is allocated for the system, possibly even more, because For normal operation of Windows 7, it is desirable that there be at least 15-20% free space on the system partition.
    The disk is divided into partitions to make it easier to reinstall the operating system in the future.

    For example, you have only 1 hard drive in your computer with a capacity of 500GB.

    You split it into 2 parts: 120GB (disk " C:") and 380GB (Disk " D)

    Now on disk « D you store music, movies, photos, program installers, folders with drivers, games, etc., and on the disk « C you install programs to work.

    Files from the “Desktop” and “My Documents” folders are also stored on the disk « C:». When in the future you want to reinstall Windows, you just need to transfer (copy) all important files from the desktop and other disk folders « C to disk « D, then do a complete reinstallation with disk formatting « C.
    If the disk is not partitioned, then you will have nowhere to transfer data from the disk « C:», and you won't be able to format it.

    Creating disk partitions

    At this step, you can create partitions on your hard drive if:

    • the hard drive is not partitioned (new or all partitions were previously deleted);
    • There are no important files on the hard drive, and all information can be deleted.
    The new hard drive is immediately displayed as a single partition and labeled as “unpartitioned” (see Figure 6).
    If you are going to repartition the disk (and all important files have already been transferred from it), then you need to:
    1. Sequentially delete all partitions of your disk using the button "delete" . Attention! All files on these partitions will be deleted!
    2. Select the unallocated partition that appears with the mouse, click the button "Create" (See Figure 6).
    3. Specify the size first for the system partition (which will be the disk « C ), then create a partition for the disk « D (and other disks if necessary).
    If the disk was not allocated, the OS installer will additionally create a 100MB partition to store special system files.

    Selecting a partition for installation

    If disk partitions were previously created:

    1. Select the system partition (on which the OS was previously installed).
    2. Click on the button "Format".
    3. After formatting, select the erased partition and click on the button "Next."
    If the installer does not see the hard drive, requires a device driver, or other problems arise, then search for and resolve your error using these two articles:
    • Analysis of various types of errors when installing Windows 7 (including by code).
    • What to do if the installer does not see the device (drive, hard drive, keyboard or mouse, etc.).
    In Figure 6 you can see an unallocated 35 GB disk.

    Figure 7. Creating a partition on the hard drive
    In our case, no partition has been created yet, so we need to click on the button "Create" (Figure 7), then indicate the volume of the partition to be created (Figure 8) and click on the button "Apply" .

    Figure 8. Selecting the volume for a partition on the hard drive

    Figure 9. Partition creation confirmation window
    After this, the operating system installer will inform you that an additional partition will be created to store system files:

    Figure 10. Installing Windows 7.
    Click on the button "Next" after which the installation will begin (copying all system files and the process of setting up the OS).

    The process of copying files will take 15-30 minutes and will not require any action from you.

    Figure 11. Installation completion window
    Once the files are copied and unpacked, the computer will restart.

    At this point, you must remove the DVD or Flash drive from the computer, as the installation will continue from the hard drive to which the necessary files were copied.

    After the reboot, you will see a window indicating that the installation is complete.

    Figure 12. Entering the username and network name of the computer for the installed system.
    The completion process will take a few minutes, after which the initial setup of the operating system will begin.

    Completing Windows installation and initial setup

    When the setup process comes to an end, you will be prompted to enter a user name to create your account, as well as a computer name for subsequent network identification (under this name your computer will be visible on Windows local networks).

    Figure 13. Setting a password for the account (optional).
    Next, you will be prompted to enter a password and a password hint. If you want to protect access to your account with a password, enter it. Or you can skip this step by clicking "Next" .

    When buying a brand new laptop, few people pay attention to the fact that modern models often do without a drive. It would seem, what's wrong with that? True, as soon as it comes to installing/reinstalling Windows, the question begins to sound different. Why don’t you run out in the middle of the night for a new drive just to use a pre-purchased licensed disc with Windows 7?! But it would also be stupid to refuse to buy a powerful laptop because of this trifle! Really! In this case, it’s easier to figure out how to install/reinstall Windows 7 on a PC without an installation disk.

    Let’s say right away that you can cope with this task in different ways. In particular, it is possible to reinstall Windows on a computer:

    Through the System Restore utility; using the Recovery utility built into the laptop (if Windows 7 was originally installed on the computer); by installing Windows from a bootable USB flash drive.

    Moreover, for each method of reinstalling Windows 7 on a computer...

    One general instruction on how to reinstall licensed Windows 7 on a laptop or computer without an installation disk and flash drive is indispensable.

    There are several points here that need to be considered separately. The first is a laptop or computer. Secondly, the installed Windows 7 is still in working order or has already “flyed”.

    Third, it will be a clean installation or without data loss. Fourth - if you have keys or a special partition with a recovery disk.

    If a laptop was purchased with Windows 7 pre-installed, then there should be a special sticker with a key on the bottom.

    This means, then (if you have one) you can install any Windows (the main thing is that it has exactly the same characteristics as the one that was on the purchased one - usually it’s “home”) and activate it (make it licensed) using this key

    Many laptops, unlike computers, are sold with pre-installed Windows 7 (now Windows 8) and manufacturers on disk...

    Good day everyone!
    I encountered the following problem: I bought an ACER E728 laptop, after changing the login password again, it doesn’t work when I turn it on, because... The password is full of Latin characters, but does not switch from Cyrillic, by the way, the RU/ENG icon has disappeared somewhere. What to do, tell me? Is it possible to somehow reinstall Windows (there is no disk), it was installed. I have XP, but it won't install. I have already changed the boot priority from CD_ROM in the BIOS, but to no avail. By the way, Windows 7 Starter is installed. Is it possible to reinstall it on the seven or better on the Home Basic (which I don’t have in stock yet). In general, help me choose and guide me along the right path to solving the problem. I'll be glad for any advice....

    A situation often arises when the issue of reinstalling the operating system becomes urgent. Let's take a specific case. There is a laptop purchased with Windows 7 already pre-installed. The system itself is still, one might say, in working condition, but the user is quite worried about some circumstances. What exactly? Due to external virus attacks, as well as during operation, errors accumulate over and over again, which leads the computer to a rather slow boot process, and other software tools are not pleasing with their previous performance. At the same time, cleaning the registry, anti-virus measures and returning the system to a previously recorded recovery point do not give the expected results. There is only one way out - reinstalling the system. How does this process happen?

    It is worth noting that a laptop with a pre-installed system is good because its manufacturer took care of the operating system distribution, which is stored in a hidden section of the device’s hard drive. Right there...

    How to reinstall Windows without a disk or flash drive? If you don’t have a disc, DVD drive, or flash drive. Or if the computer’s BIOS has partial support for UEFI, which does not include booting from UEFI flash drives, but Windows must be installed on a GPT disk without the option of deleting the disk partition or converting it to MBR. This can be done without bootable media, from the current Windows environment. But, of course, it is possible provided that the current operating system boots and somehow works. Let's look at 5 ways to do this below.

    1. Return Windows 8.1 and 10 to its original state

    Win8.1 and Win10 standardly provide the possibility of their own - in the state at the time of their installation, in a set of components from the distribution from which they were installed. This option is called returning the computer to its original state. It allows you to reinstall Windows both with saving the computer name, user profile, files contained in it, system activation, and without all this, i.e. with complete deletion of information and formatting of drive C. In both Win10 and Win8.1, access to this function is provided in the update and security section of system settings, in the “Recovery” subsection. But the implementation of the function varies. In Win10, you need to click the "Start" button.

    Next, select the type of reinstallation - saving the profile and files in its folders or deleting these files. If with deletion, then you need to choose either only deleting files, while the computer name, Windows activation and profile are saved, or deleting all this with formatting drive C.

    After a short preparation, you can start rolling back the “Tens” to its original state.

    This process will take place partly in the current system, partly in preboot mode. As a result of this rollback, our old profile will be loaded. And if you choose to format drive C, the system will go to the welcome screen to set regional parameters and create a profile.

    In Win8.1, the process of rolling back to the original state is simpler: it is initially divided into two types of reinstallation - with saving the computer name, profile, its files and without saving any data with formatting the C drive.

    2. New Start feature in Windows 10

    "Ten" has an alternative way to reinstall itself - the "New Start" function. How does it differ from the previous method? The state of the distribution. Whereas in the case of returning to its original state, to reinstall the system, a distribution kit is taken from its recovery environment, and this, accordingly, is a distribution kit with updates that were current at the time of its acquisition and customized in cases with OEM devices, as part of the “New Start” function from servers Microsoft downloads the latest distribution - clean, without fraudulent software, with the latest updates. The “New Start” function does not have a choice of reinstallation types; it is always a process with saving the computer name, activation, profile, files in its folders. How to use this feature?

    Launch the “Windows Security” application, go to the penultimate section “Performance and Performance”. In the “New Start” column, click “Additional Information”.

    Click “Get Started”.

    We follow the accompanying instructions.

    Click “Start”.

    As in the previous case, the reinstallation will take place partially in the current Windows 10 environment, and partially in preboot mode.

    What is the disadvantage of these two methods? Firstly, they do not allow you to change the version of Windows. Secondly, they are unstable. If the current system has experienced a failure, the processes of resetting it and starting it again may fail. Nothing bad usually happens: if Windows cannot reinstall, the changes are rolled back and we return to the environment of the current system from which we launched these processes.

    However, time will be lost. If you don’t want to bear such risks, it’s better to immediately start using the methods suggested below.

    3. Running the distribution installer in the current Windows

    No installation media is needed when it comes to reinstalling a different version of Windows. The system distribution contains the setup.exe utility, we can launch it by connecting the installation ISO image in the current Windows environment. In Win8.1 and Win10, this is done using the “Connect” item in the context menu of the system explorer. And in Win7, ISO mounting is implemented using programs like Daemon Tools. If we run setup.exe as part of the distribution of the same version of Windows as the current one, the system will simply receive updates. But if we mount an ISO with a distribution kit of a different version of Windows, we get almost a full-fledged reinstallation process.

    Run setup.exe and click “Install” in the installation window.

    We are waiting for the completion of copying temporary files. We are solving the issue with updates.

    We accept the license terms and select the full installation type.

    In the disk partition table, click on partition C. Click “Next”, then “Ok” in the information window notifying us about the creation of the “Windows.old” folder.

    The process of copying the files of the new Windows will begin. At some point, this process will be interrupted, the computer will reboot, and file copying will continue in the preboot environment, as with a normal Windows installation from bootable media.

    The installation process will then move to the stage of configuring regional settings and creating a profile.

    4. WinToHDD program

    https://www.easyuefi.com/wintohdd/index.html

    The WinToHDD program, among its capabilities, provides for reinstalling Windows with formatting system partitions from the current system environment. We can install any version of Windows, regardless of what version we have now. The program supports desktop distributions of Windows Vista-10 and its server editions Server 2008-2016. WinToHDD is offered free of charge for home use. But to install Windows in the Enterprise and server editions, you need a paid version of WinToHDD Pro. How to reinstall Windows using this program?

    Launch the program, click “Reinstall”.

    We specify the path to the installation ISO image or to the separately contained files install.wim or install.esd. Select the system edition.

    In the next step, you don’t need to change anything for a normal reinstallation. Just click “Next”.

    We confirm the start of the process.

    The computer will restart and the reinstallation will continue in the preboot environment. Afterwards, the new system will enter the stage of setting regional settings and creating a profile.

    5. WinNTSetup program

    http://wntsetup.ru/

    Reinstallation using Windows XP-10 supporting distributions is a method for experienced users, for those who are comfortable with hard drive repartition operations. WinNTSetup does not know how to reinstall Windows, it only knows how to install it to a VHD file or to another disk partition. The proposed reinstallation method is based on the latter possibility. What does it look like?

    Space is plucked from the current partition C and a new partition is formed on it. This can be done even in standard disk management. You can pinch off a little, around 30 GB.

    A second Windows is installed on this new partition using WinNTSetup. Let's launch the utility. We connect the installation ISO, in the program window we indicate the path to install.wim or install.esd. We first specify the bootloader partition of the current system. Then below we indicate the system partition - the same new partition pinched off from drive C of the current system. Select the Windows edition and click “Install”.

    File copying will begin. You can minimize the utility window and go about your business on your computer. After copying is complete, we reboot, select new Windows in the boot menu, wait for the drivers to be installed, set regional settings, and create a profile.

    This method is good because it allows you to have a new system with full access to the old one. And this is an ideal solution if reinstallation is needed to investigate another version, edition, build, or simply to test various problems to determine whether their causes lie in the old Windows. Based on the results of impressions or tests, one of the systems is retained and the other is removed. If you keep the old system, just go to disk management, delete the plucked partition and attach the space to the C drive. return everything the way it was. But what if you need to keep a new Windows? Disk Management will not allow you to attach space to the system partition if it is in front of it.

    Let's consider the situation: Our laptop with a pre-installed licensed OS stopped booting Windows 7. All attempts to boot the system fail. What can we do with this, provided that we do not have a disk with Windows and we want to restore the licensing system.

    There are two options.

    1) Restore the Windows system from the bootable backup area of the laptop. (if you have a personal PC, then go straight to option No. 2

    Almost every modern laptop manufacturer creates a special partition on the hard drive that allows you to restore Windows. Each manufacturer has different software and is called up with different keys.

    To restore the system, we need to restart the laptop and press a special key before loading Windows.

    After pressing this key, the system recovery program window should open (picture using an ACER laptop as an example).

    Next we follow the instructions of the master. Just keep in mind that this wizard resets the settings to factory defaults and reinstalls the system to the “from the factory” state. And in some laptops there is no way to save data on a “broken” system! Data may be lost! If you don’t have such important data on your laptop, you can safely start reinstalling.

    You need to download a disk image from the Internet Windows 7. First, you need to see what edition of Windows 7 is installed on your laptop (in case you want to keep the license). You can look at the sticker on the laptop, it shows the edition of Windows 7, as well as the license key.

    For example, if the sticker is windows pro, then you need to download the windows 7 professional disk image. If you don't care which edition, you can download any one. Typically the disk image has the following name: ru_ windows _7 _professional _with_sp1_x86_dvd_u_677084. iso.

    After we have downloaded the image, we need to write it to a flash drive. We will need a flash drive size of at least 4GB.

    • Insert the flash drive into the PC.
    • We launch the program to write images to a flash drive; in our case, we will use the UltraISO program. You can also download it on the Internet.

    Launch UltraiSO. We choose to open, then our Windows 7 image.

    After we have selected the image, go to the bootstrap menu and select to burn a hard disk image

    Click on the button - record and wait for the recording to finish.

    After getting the USB flash drive with Windows 7, insert it into the PC you want to restore. Now we need to enable booting from a flash drive in your computer's BIOS.

    Del- Usually the Del key is the default key to enter the BIOS.
    Esc— On a Toshiba laptop, after pressing it, you are usually prompted to press F1 to enter the BIOS
    F1- mainly on laptops LENOVO, IBM, HP, Dell, PB.
    F2— Acer, Asus, Samsung, RB;
    F3— rarely happens at Dell, Sony;
    F8- iRu,
    F10- Toshiba, Compaq
    F12— Lenovo;
    Ctrl+F2- Asus;
    Ctrl+Alt+Esc- some Acer and others.

    When entering the BIOS, set the settings according to the screenshots below

    There are different BIOS versions and the interface may differ, but you can figure it out by analogy.

    If you have any questions, please write in the comments, I will be glad to answer.

    Problems with Windows occur most often due to the user's fault.

    This could be due to:

    1. viruses that corrupt system files;
    2. software glitches;
    3. banal cluttering of the system disk, causing the computer to work slower and often crash.

    Completely reinstall Windows 7 will not be difficult, because The installation program is intuitive. In the process of preparing and, in fact, reinstalling the system, it is important not to lose files and at the same time improve the performance of the computer. And how to do this as correctly as possible will be discussed below.

    What to do before removing the system

    Of course, the very first step in the reinstallation process will be downloading the new distribution. This can be done on any torrent tracker or file hosting service.

    The following is the process of writing the installation program onto a bootable USB flash drive or disk. To write the installation program to a flash card, you will need a working version of Windows 7 and the Win2Flash program. It is very easy to learn and does everything automatically. We just need to select the distribution in the Explorer menu and the flash drive, which will become bootable. If you already have a distribution package recorded on disk, skip this point.

    Photo: Window for selecting the path to Windows and the required flash card

    After automatically recording the operating system to the media, it’s time to move on to the next point - saving all important files.

    This procedure is best carried out if you have capacious storage: an external hard drive, a large flash drive, or several large-capacity disks. On them we copy all the files we need (photos, videos, text documents, files with passwords, etc.). You can also save all the files in cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive, Yandex.Disk, etc.), and after the reinstallation is complete, you can download all the necessary files back, thus avoiding data loss.

    Do not forget to download the necessary drivers (for the network card/wi-fi module, video card, etc.), because it is possible that without them the computer will not allow you to access the Network and work fully.

    Preparing for reinstallation

    Before reinstalling the system yourself, it would be a good idea to create a backup copy of Windows in case something goes wrong. This can be done using Acronis True Image.

    Download the program and write it to a disc, after setting up the BIOS (see the next point), reboot the computer with the disk in the drive. When loading, the True Image window will launch, in which you need to select “backup”, mark the drive that we will transfer (the one on which the system folders are stored, usually drive C). Next, select the destination - another logical partition, or an external hard drive or flash drive, and complete the process.

    BIOS setup

    Now you need to make sure that the PC takes files to turn on from the drive on which the system is recorded; this can be done through the BIOS.

    Do not forget to return all BIOS settings after reinstalling Windows; if you forget to do this, when you turn on the PC with a disk or flash drive inserted, an error about boot files not found will be displayed. But you don't always need to change BIOS settings.

    You can also select the location for priority loading of files manually; to do this, when you turn on the computer (approximately between the 1st and 2nd screensavers), press a special key (usually the F8, F10, F11, F12 or Escape buttons), and select CD/DVD, or Flash drive.

    Step-by-step reinstallation of Windows 7

    All preparatory procedures are completed, and we will learn how to reinstall Windows 7 on Windows 7 step by step, without formatting the system drives.

    Instructions:

    • Next, select the logical partition that is considered the system partition and continue the installation. It is important to remember that the PC may reboot during installation, and because... If we boot from media, then when you turn it on again, the installation program will start again.

    To avoid this, you need to enter the BIOS settings during the first reboot and return the boot device back to the “HDD” column. Or simply remove the flash drive or disc during the reboot, not forgetting to insert it back, because the installation is not yet completed;

    Important! For successful installation and to protect your PC from threats, obtain the latest version of the update. This is easy to do by connecting to the Internet and going to the official website of the company. Next, go to the “Obtain important updates for installation” page.

    • further Select installation type paragraph Update. A compatibility report appears;
    • the last step will be to set up the time zone in which we select the desired one, and now - the main part of the work of reinstalling the Windows operating system is completed.

    Completing and installing drivers

    It is unlikely that after reinstalling Windows, your PC will immediately be fully functional; to do this, you need to update the drivers for your hardware.

    If you listened to the recommendations, then you probably downloaded all the necessary drivers onto a flash drive or blank. It is better to download drivers for a specific brand and model of equipment, preferably the latest version (almost certainly can be found on the manufacturer’s official website).

    It is also recommended to download and install components for comfortable browsing on the Internet (Flash Player, browser, etc.). Sets of codecs for adequate operation of system and third-party applications (NET Framework, DirectX, C++ libraries) will also not hurt.

    Reinstalling Windows is not a difficult task, but if you miss the smallest detail, you can render your PC unusable.

    It is important to properly prepare for the system change process by copying the necessary files so that their loss does not come as a surprise to you.

    The setup procedure after installation is also important; it is very important to install the latest versions of drivers so that all computer components work smoothly and without failures.

    To prevent virus programs from destroying your system, install an antivirus and turn on a firewall - it helps block malicious content on sites.
