On versions of Android 5.0 and 6.0 from some manufacturers, the contact menu appears, but there is no “Block incoming calls” function. Instead, you need to click “Voicemail Only.”

What is the “Black List” and what is it used for?

How to add a contact/phone number to the Black List on Android

In different versions of mobile devices based on the Android operating system, the method of adding a contact to the blacklist is slightly different. The main differences in settings exist between versions of Android below 4.0 and, accordingly, new versions above 4.0.

Adding to the “Black List” on Android below 4.0

On Android versions below 4.0, the number of the subscriber you want to block must be in the contacts list on the phone. In older versions of the operating system, you will first have to activate the “Black List” function and only then add a contact:

1. Go to the “Settings” menu.
2. Open the “Calls” option and find the “Call Rejection” item.
3. Click on “Black List” and turn it on using the button of the same name.

Open the contact list. Hold your finger until the context menu appears on the screen. In the list there will be an option “Add to blacklist”, which is what we need. We indicate the subscriber whom we no longer want to hear.

In order to return everything to its place, again go to the “Black List” menu through “Settings” and uncheck the box that was checked earlier.

Adding to the “Black List” on Android above 4.0

Adding a number to the blacklist on smartphones with Android above 4.0 will be slightly different:

1. Open the list of contacts and calls.
2. Select the number you want to block. In the upper right corner of the contact there is a settings menu, depicted as three bold dots located horizontally. After clicking, a list will be displayed.
3. There may be two variants of the same option: “Block incoming call” or “Voicemail only” (varies depending on the OS version). In both cases, we need to check the box next to the inscription, after which the contact will be automatically blocked.

To return everything back, just uncheck the “Blocking incoming call” (“Voice mail only”) option.

Please note that in all cases, after blocking a subscriber, you will no longer receive calls from him. However, every time after a call from a blocked subscriber, you will receive an SMS notification about the time and date of the call, and the subscriber will also be able to independently send messages to your smartphone. If you are regularly bothered by an unknown number, for example, an advertising agency, then add it to your contacts and blacklist, then he will not be able to get through.

Setting up the "Black List"

There are different ways to return a contact to the white list. Most often, it is enough to follow the same procedure as when adding, only you need to uncheck the box next to the “Enable black list” item (the wording will differ on different phone models). Unfortunately, standard smartphone tools do not allow you to change other parameters, for example, specify a specific date when you cannot be reached, but this can be done using additional programs.

Additional blocking programs

With the software, everything is a little simpler, and all owners of Android smartphones can use it, and it doesn’t matter what version of the phone you have. In the Play Market, find an application called Blacklist. The key feature of the application is that it allows you to block not only calls from subscribers, but also SMS messages.

You can always view the history of blocked calls and messages in the “History” tab and even read the contents of SMS. The main thing is that when you download and install the program, do it only with the help of official or trusted sources (Play Market or AppStore). Otherwise, you risk getting malicious software on your phone. How to block with an operator

Let's look at blocking subscribers using the example of the main popular operators in Russia: MTS, Beeline, Tele2 and Megafon. The easiest way to block incoming calls is via a USSD command or SMS message to a short number.

Let's start with the MTS operator.

Cellular operators have special commands that must be entered directly into the calling application. Each of them performs a specific action related to services or assistance to the subscriber. Often the same combination is used when sending an SMS message to an operator:

1. Enter the combination into the call menu *111*442# . Press the call key.

1. Wait for a response message notifying you of your connection.

Remember that this service is paid - the operator charges 1.5 rubles every day. Another connection option is through the portal and personal account.

You can also activate the service using an SMS message with the text 442*1 to a short number 111 .

A subscriber is included in an emergency situation using SMS with the text 22*7ХХХХХХХХХХ# to the number 4424 .

You can block a number in one of two ways:

• "Busy" status. Anyone calling from a specific number will hear short beeps on the receiver. To do this, use the command *442*21*number# ;

• Status “Subscriber’s device is turned off.” The caller will receive a voice notification that your mobile phone is turned off or out of range. To connect, send a USSD request *442*22*number# and press the call key.

Attention: all numbers must be entered in the format 7ХХХХХХХХХХ.

We figured out how to block a number. Now we will remove the subscriber from the emergency using the following methods:

• USSD request *442*24*7ХХХХХХХХХХ# and call button;

• Message 22*7ХХХХХХХХХ# on 4424 .

Blocking contacts on Android with a Beeline SIM card is carried out using the same methods - SMS and USSD. First of all, we connect the service using the command *110*771# . Activation will occur within 24 hours from the moment the application is submitted.

The cost of connecting to Beeline's service is zero. However, adding contacts is paid individually - 3 rubles per subscriber. The option can be disabled using the command *110*770# .

To make yourself unavailable for a specific number, use the request *110*771*blocking_number#.

To remove subscribers from the emergency situation, dial *110*772# .

How to find a blacklist for a Beeline subscriber? To do this, enter the combination *110*773# . Viewing the entire list is free. The maximum simultaneous number of contacts in an emergency is 40.

Owners of Tele2 SIM cards can activate the service through a request *220*1# .

Disabling the service is carried out through a request *220*0# and call buttons.

To check the current status of the option (connected or disabled), just type *220# .

Connecting to the service on Tele2 is free, but the subscription fee is 1 ruble per day. When adding a subscriber to an emergency situation, you will be charged a fee of 1.5 rubles per position (maximum quantity - 30). To blacklist a number, dial the USSD command *220*1*8ХХХХХХХХХХ# and press the call key.

To remove a contact from the emergency list on a Tele2 SIM card, you must use the command *220*0*8ХХХХХХХХХХ#.

Megafon subscribers can enable the emergency service in the following ways:

1. Sending SMS to 5130 without text.

1. Request for *130 # + call.

To put someone else's number in an emergency, you need to send:

• SMS to 5130 with a contact in international format 7ХХХХХХХХХ;

• Request *130*7ХХХХХХХХХ# .

You can view already added subscribers via USSD command *130*3# . Also, using this service, SMS is blocked on Android devices with Megafon SIM cards. Payment for the service is made in the amount of 1 ruble per day, regardless of the number of subscribers in the list. Connection is free.

If the above combinations and queries do not work for you, then check the relevance of the information on the company’s official website. Operators often change combinations of USSD commands, short numbers for SMS depending on tariff plans, etc.

Lock with app

The following methods are suitable for all owners of devices running the Android operating system, regardless of shell, version and mobile operator. We will talk about special call blockers that can be installed through the Play Market application store.

Using this software, you can configure calls and SMS messages from unwanted people. The program is an analogue of the foreign Mr.Number-Block calls & Spam, which cannot be downloaded in the Russian Play Market.
