• K lite codec pack does not install. Installing, uninstalling or updating codecs is easy! Audio Configuration sectionAfter installation

K-Lite Codec Pack is a set of tools that allows you to play videos in the best quality. The official website presents several assemblies that differ in composition.

After downloading the K-Lite Codec Pack, many users do not know how to properly work with these tools. The interface is quite complex, and the Russian language is completely absent. Therefore, in this article we will look at setting up this software. For example, I previously downloaded the assembly from the manufacturer’s website "Mega".

All codec settings are done when installing this software. The selected parameters can be changed later using special tools from this package. So let's get started.

Run the installation file. If the program finds already installed K-Lite Codec Pack configuration components, it will offer to remove them and continue installation. In case of failure, the process will be interrupted.

In the first window that appears, you must select an operating mode. In order to configure all components, select "Advanced". Then "Next".

    Profile selection

The next window will be one of the most important in setting up this package. The default value is "Profile 1". In principle, you can leave it this way; these settings are perfectly optimized. If you want to carry out full customization, select "Profile 7".

Some profiles may not have a player installed. In this case, in brackets you will see the inscription "Without player".

    Setting up filters

In the same window we will select a filter for decoding "DirectShow video decoding filters". You can choose either ffdshow or LAV. There is no fundamental difference between them. I'll choose the first option.

    Selecting a splitter

In the same window, go down below and find the section "DirectShow source filters". This is a pretty important point. A splitter is needed to select the audio track and subtitles. However, not all of them work correctly. The best option would be to choose LAV Splitter or Haali Splitter.

In this window we have marked the most significant points, leaving the rest as default. Click "Next".

    Additional tasks

If you want to install additional program shortcuts, then check the boxes in the section "Additional shortcuts", opposite the required options.

To play videos only from the white list, check "Restrict usage to whitelisted applications".

To display video in RGB32 color mode, check "Force RGB32 output". The color will be more saturated, but the load on the processor will increase.

You can switch between audio streams without the player menu by highlighting the option "Hide system icon". In this case, the transition can be done from the tray.

In the field "Tweaks" You can customize subtitles.

The number of settings in this window may vary significantly. I show how I have it, but it may be more or less.

Leave the rest unchanged and click "Next".

    Setting up Hardware Acceleration

In this window you can leave everything unchanged. These settings work fine in most cases.

    Renderer selection

Here we will set the renderer parameters. Let me remind you that this is a special program that allows you to receive an image.

If the decoder Mpeg-2, the built-in player suits you, then mark "Enable internal MPEG-2 decoder". If you have such a field.

In order to optimize the sound, select the option "Volume normalization".

    Language selection

To install language files and the ability to switch between them, select "Install language files". Click "Next".

We get to the language settings window. We choose the main and secondary language that meets your requirements. If necessary, you can select another one. Click "Next".

Now let's select the default player for playback. I will choose "Media Player Classic"

In the next window, mark the files that the selected player will play. I usually select all video and all audio. You can select everything using special buttons, as in the screenshot. Let's continue.

The audio configuration can be left unchanged.

This completes the K-Lite Codec Pack setup. All you have to do is click "Install" and test the product.

K-Lite Codec Pack is a set of codecs that are necessary to play media files on a computer. If on your computer, when you launch some video or audio files, your media player refuses to play such files, then this happens most often because the appropriate codecs are not installed on your computer.

This problem can be easily solved by installing a codec pack so that your media player can play different types of files.

There are many different specialized codec sets. One of the best such codec packs is the K-Lite Codec Pack.

K-Lite Mega Codec - Pack a set of multimedia codecs for computers

K-Lite Codec Pack is a universal set of codecs, filters and various utilities for viewing and processing various audio and video files. With the K-Lite Codec Pack, you can run not only all popular audio and video file formats, but also many other less common file formats.

Over time, installation options and the composition of this set of codecs change. Now the procedure for installing the K-Lite Codec Pack has changed a little, and therefore I have written a new article on how to install the K-Lite Codec Pack.

Some time ago I already, I already considered installing this codec pack. Along with the K-Lite Codec Pack, the Media Player Classic Home Cinema multimedia player is installed on your computer.

Previously, when installing a set of codecs, if you did not check the appropriate box when installing a set of codecs, this player was installed without a language pack. When installed by default, Media Player Classic Home Cinema was only in English. In that article, I talked about how this problem could be solved when installing the K-Lite Codec Mega Pack codec set.

Now the installation procedure has changed a little, and therefore I will describe in detail below the installation of this set of codecs.

The K-Lite Codec Pack consists of several codec options: “Basic”, “Standard”, “Full”, “Mega”.

It makes no sense to install the “Basic” and “Standard” options on your computer, since these sets contain an incomplete set of codecs.

It would be better to install the “Full” or “Mega” packages on your computer. The best choice would be to choose the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. This is the most complete version of a set of codecs; later in the article, the installation of this particular codec package will be discussed.

You can download the K-Lite Codec Pack from the manufacturer’s official website.

K lite Mega Codec Pack download

The official website is in English, but this problem can be easily solved by using any online translator to translate the site, or using a translator in the Google Chrome browser. On this page you will need to select the required option to install a set of codecs on your computer.

    Installing K-Lite Mega Codec Pack

After clicking on the application installation file, the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack installation wizard window will open. In this window, click on the “Next” button.

In the next window, you select the option to install codecs. You will need to select the "Advanced payback and encoding" option as the most complete installation option. After that, you click on the “Next” button.

In the next window, you are asked to select components to install the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, as well as the configuration of some applications. Here you can select the necessary settings, or leave everything as default. Next, click on the “Next” button.

In this window, you can leave the default settings, or select the appropriate items for hardware acceleration when using video compression standards.

In this window you will see that the language pack for Media Player Classic Home Cinema is already activated by default. To continue installing the codec package, click on the “Next” button.

In the next window, a choice is made to automatically select the language. Russian will be selected first, followed by English if Russian is not available. Click on the “Next” button in this window.

In the next window you are asked to select a player (or players) to associate certain types of files with. Even if you haven’t selected anything in this window, you can then easily associate video and audio files with any desired player on your computer.

My player selection is shown in the image, after that click on the “Next” button.

In the video and audio file association window for Media Player Classic Home Cinema, I select the option all video files: “Select all video”. You can choose your settings. After selecting the file association, click on the “Next” button.

In the window for associating files with Windows Media Player, I select all audio files: “Select all audio”. After selecting the settings, click on the “Next” button.

In the configuration window for audio devices, I leave the default settings.

To start the installation process of the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack on your computer, click on the “Install” button.

The K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is installed on your computer. Now you can play the vast majority of different audio and video file formats using your multimedia player.

When installing a set of codecs, I chose the Media Player Classic Home Cinema multimedia player to play video files. Therefore, the video on my computer will open in this player by default. Audio files will be opened using Windows Media Player. In the future, if necessary, you can change the associations of various video and audio files to open them using other programs.

    Conclusions of the article

Installing the K-lite Mega Codec Pack will allow you to open almost any video and audio files on your computer using a multimedia player.

    Installing K-lite Codec Pack (video)

Codec is a program for co diating and Dec oding (packing and unpacking) video and audio streams. The average user needs codecs to play compressed video or audio formats on a computer. The fact is that most modern formats, such as mp3, mp4, use compression. And when installing a clean operating system, most compressed formats are not supported. Therefore, in order for playback to be possible, you need to install the codec. Most codecs slightly reduce quality to significantly reduce file size. But there are also lossless codecs - those that compress the file without loss of quality.
