The camera - the stated 8 megapixels is about the same as 4 megapixels in a point-and-shoot camera - is affected by the lack of normal optics (the phone is the same). There is no autofocus - VERY unpleasant, to take photos of documents you need to zoom in and move the phone further - then the quality is more or less. The Up-code program does not work if the picture is small - this is about 50% of cases. My own MAP navigation helped out outside the Moscow region, but in Moscow I stopped trusting it when it took me to Tverskaya-Yamskaya instead of Tverskaya 2. I use Yandex, turn on rotation there, the connection to the Internet is almost always OK, if I close all windows, forcibly disconnect from the Internet, then start everything again and everything is fine - excellent for a car navigator. I registered for OVI - now my contacts are there, it synchronizes itself once a week. I downloaded Simbian Anna - everything was OK and it remains the same, a little prettier, of course. The side lock button was infuriating - I installed some special program with OVI, now I can block it by swiping my finger along the bottom of the screen, beauty. Unlock as usual - with the central button and pressing the screen, also without using the side switch. The stump is clear, the iPhone is better. In many ways. And the price is higher. Mine cost 13,000 rubles, and that one - 35,000. But how I use my phones - I talk a lot, they often fall on me, sometimes I lose them, they can fall into a puddle a little - it’s a pity to lose 35,000 rubles at once. And when I was looking for a laptop, I fell for the Mac book pro - I wanted to try the American legend - I’m sitting here now, typing on it. There are also plenty of problems with it, because there are no ideal devices. The C7 performs its task 100% - what more do you need? The screen is good, bright, the phone does not break, there are no critical glitches yet - I recommend it.

Advantages: 1.Design. 2.Screen. 3.Reliability. 4.The flashlight is a thermonuclear one, it helped me out many times. 5.Strong. It always falls by accident, but constantly and not always on the carpet. The CP-507 still works in its original leather case. 3. Screen glass. At first, like everything I bought, I glued it on, but, as it turned out, the screen is glass and does not scratch (unless you use a serious metal object in the form of keys and irrepressible physical strength). I’ve been using it for six months without film and everything is OK.

Disadvantages: 1. Buggy. It freezes periodically, once every 2 weeks. An unpleasant glitch was the absence of any reaction to incoming calls: i.e. they call you, they hear beeps, but you don’t hear the call signal and this call is not reflected in any way. At all. Then I call people, and they are offended that, they say, you don’t pick up the phone and don’t call back. 2. Idiot system for transferring a contact: either use a business card, which not all recipients can open properly, or copy the number of the desired subscriber, paste it, then copy the name, etc. 3.Battery. I talk a lot, I charge once a day. If you use navigation, the Internet is enough for half a day. I use all the standard ways to save battery, with the exception of Economy mode, because it turns off the vibration alert and you can miss a call. Bought a second one

The device was purchased in December 2011 and is alive and well to this day; It is now used as a backup dialer. During the period of operation, I fell on the asphalt a couple of times, swam in a puddle, which is why I became slightly hoarse when hearing the speakers. It takes a lot of effort to break such a tube, even though it is a touch-sensitive one - the proprietary Nokia hardware indestructibility feature also extended to many touch-sensitive models. And it is deliberately not a fact that it will work out - even moving by car does not ensure the result. The device itself is stylish and solid - both in terms of the materials used and in terms of assembly. Pleasant to hold and easy to operate with one hand. At one time (almost 8 years ago) it was positioned as a junior to the flagship N8, which in fact turned out to be generally much less successful and user-friendly. The filling was almost flagship, which you can read about in more detail on any of the available sites. The Achilles heel of the smartphone was the OS, which has been dead for several years now and is not supported by anyone, so it will not be possible to post photos on Instagram from the cameras on board (8MP main and 5MP on the front). Despite the excellent energy efficiency and a number of unorthodox features that users who find Symbian will miss, we still admit the obvious - this OS is completely inferior to the same Android in terms of convenience and capabilities. Actually, Nokia paid with ruin for strategic miscalculations in the software segment. After almost 7 years of operation, the original battery still holds a charge for 5 days in standby mode and a day in active use mode. Now I can still log into VK through Opera Mini or make a couple of calls to friends from this phone; play the canonical version of Angry Birds. This post is a tribute to a quality brand that we have come to know and love. The current Nokia website seems to specifically not have any information about the company's old products, which symbolizes and hints... Well, my C7 still connects me with people.

During use, a piece of the adapter from the nano SIM card got stuck - using the video, I was able to disassemble and replace the SIM card module. I dealt with the fact that I couldn’t connect to Wi-Fi on the Moscow metro (I set Opera mobile as the default browser and logged in through it). Friends of acquaintances have already changed several devices during this time - my old man does not let me down. Now I’m wondering with fear what I can take after it... It’s a pity that the same Nokia that connects people no longer exists.

Advantages: I bought Nokia C7 in 2010, now it’s the end of 2016. The armored case, flashlight, photos can be taken with very high quality. Video 720r. Catch the net confidently. There is wi-fi.

Disadvantages: The standard browser is not always applicable (the sites are overloaded).

The phone fell on the asphalt, floated in the water, and a car accidentally drove over it on the asphalt - it didn’t matter to him. It's a pity that such high-quality phones, like Nokia itself, are now history

Pros: I bought the phone in September 2011. I have been using it continuously for almost 5 years. My friends and acquaintances have already lost several phones during this time. S 7 is a super phone!!! Shockproof, great camera, great sound in headphones. In standby mode, the record time was 4 days without recharging. The battery and everything else in the phone is original. I don’t think about changing it to a newer, modern one.

Disadvantages: Only weight. The phone has a steel body. When I first bought it, it was a little unusual that the phone was so heavy. But such a body is one of the main advantages. He is not afraid of any mechanical damage.

I’ve had this phone - you probably won’t believe it when you read it - for 7 years now, and everything that happened to it during these 7 years (blows, falls, scratching on keys, falling into a lake, being poured with tea), this phone survived incredible durability. At the moment, there are only two problems associated with a long and hard life - the back cover has become a little loose, and now the battery tends to fall out if you accidentally press the cover, and also, after falling into water, the front camera turned off and no longer turns on. Read more: An absolutely indestructible battery that can last for several days without recharging (turning on the power saving mode turns the phone into a portable power generator, and it takes charge absolutely out of thin air), however, the battery indicator can quite abruptly switch from “full battery” to “recharging required” . Also, you cannot see the charge as a percentage. Video consumes the most energy, the Internet consumes less, and everything else consumes very little. The camera has excellent quality for its time, but don’t even try to photograph any small details or, for example, text, since the camera does not have focusing. Works great with most headphones. The OS is an old Symbian, which was updated about 3 years ago and everyone happily forgot about it. Stable, reliable, practically does not freeze (unless you give the phone absolutely titanic tasks of simultaneously running sixteen applications). There is everything you need for comfortable work. There are few applications, but everything you need is there. Radio, Reader for PDF and Word, notebook, built-in GPS maps, dictionary, file manager, all sorts of calculators, calendars, clocks and so on. There is no voice recorder. Built-in garbage applications from Nokia such as their social network, CNN, Nati GEO and so on. The most necessary things are a normal music player (the built-in one is also ok, but not with all extensions), a widget for VKontakte, Twitter - everything is free and can be downloaded from the Nokia store. Overall, 10 out of 10.

Pros: Durability, vitality, stability, indestructible battery, bright flashlight, friendly OS

Disadvantages: Lack of focus on both cameras, sometimes loses connection, screen does not respond to cold or wet fingers

Symbian Belle Refresh I couldn’t even log into Skype on it. On YouTube online the video quality is low, you can watch it, BUT! The sound is ahead of the video from the very beginning of the video, so YouTube is not for it, although I don’t know, maybe this problem can be solved somehow by some codecs. I can’t hack it, I hacked 5530 in 5 minutes, but I can’t hack this one, I can’t transfer one important file with the .exe extension through X-Plore. I can’t understand why, but from ANY Wi-Fi access point the connection speed shows no more than 1.8 Mbit/s, although ideally this phone can reach 600 Mbit/s (IEEE 802.11n), and it supports this standard. All Wi-Fi devices in our house operate at the speed for which we pay according to the tariff - about 50 Mbit/s. And a tablet, and 3 computers, and my dad’s phone, but my phone doesn’t even provide 2 Mbit/s. And so from all access points: in cafes, in shopping centers, well, everywhere in general. Okay, check the messages on VK and OK, you should be able to find the information you need, it’s just a very unclear problem. There is no autofocus, but there is Full-Focus. Objects located at a distance of more than 50 cm turn out very well in good lighting! And the most important thing in the end: I bought it for 800 (!!!) rubles secondhand. Yes, I made a mistake. This phone cost me 800 rubles, and everything on it works (except for the incomprehensibility with the speed of the Wi-Fi connection. So for this price I have nothing to complain about at all, I just want to solve the problem with the Internet speed, I hope, at least reflashing can help, or is there some kind of software setting. This is the review about this wonderful phone. It definitely works out its price 200%!!! But once it cost 18, as soon as it came out!

Pros: Camera. Screen (albeit not the best on the market). Speed of work. The device itself is heavy, you feel like you are holding a thing, and not some kind of Chinese thing. Sound in headphones. The video quality deserves special praise! Plug for micro-USB port. Well, the capacitive touch screen is very sensitive to the slightest touch (I really like it!) Before this I had the C6-01, so this one, I think, is better. And it’s CLEARLY better than the 5530 XM, which I also had.

Disadvantages: The main drawback is the Symbian operating system, albeit the latest Belle Refresh (see comment!) Well, maybe there is no autofocus, but (read the comment!). Not a very strong battery. Once in the cold the camera malfunctioned, froze, and that’s it. Apparently, we got the tropical version (just kidding!). Stainless glossy screen (sometimes annoying).

The case is quite strong, although after a year and a half a small crack appeared, but this was solely my fault, when my friend and I decided to test 2 of these phones for “shock resistance”))) A month ago the phone floated for about 5 hours in a large puddle in a tent, 3 days without turned on when it was completely dry, to my great surprise, it started working. It looks like the contacts in the headphone input have closed, so now you can’t listen to the radio and music and have stopped receiving Wi-Fi (I looked through many models, but decided to look again for the same one, Hungarian assembly) And I’ll leave this one for the second SIM card)

Advantages: Over the course of 2 years of use, the phone flew and fell a huge number of times, once even with glass on paving stones - there was not a scratch on the glass, even without a protective film. Quite fast, the camera is excellent, compared to phones of the same price category, convenient settings, a very bright flashlight, Wi-Fi reception is quite good, 3G even at the dacha, I have never changed the headset in 2 years. I didn’t need a memory card, 8 GB of memory was enough

Disadvantages: Personally, I am absolutely satisfied with everything about it, but for fans of Instagram it is of course a problem; unfortunately, you cannot install the program on it. The only negative for me is the very flimsy fastening of the lid, after about a year it began to constantly fall off(

Nokia C7 is a thin and beautiful smartphone that belongs to the Cseries. This line includes devices that are used specifically for calls and voice communication, and other functions are less important. Nokia C7-00 heads this group of phones, I have a clear idea that the smartphone is subtly reminiscent of something (perhaps the association is associated with the shiny metal screen bezel, which is used in both devices). The C7-00 impresses with its compactness and appearance; the smartphone could easily fit into the E-series line; it is beautiful and original.

On the one hand, the C-series devices are quite simple, but the C7-00 is by no means a smartphone in which you can experience a lack of functions. The solid, neat and at the same time stylish appearance is captivating - we can safely say that the device will become very popular. It will replace some of the E-series devices, which were often purchased based on their shape and ease of use.

    Appearance

The smartphone has a thin body, the dimensions are 117.3 x 56.8 x 10.5 mm, which is almost (114 x 57 x 10 mm), the dimensions are very close. Apparently, the solution that is optimally convenient for everyone has been found, when the phone is large enough to be convenient to use, but at the same time it is quite compact. Nokia C7-00 weighs about 130 grams. (E71, for comparison, is 127 g), again the numbers are almost the same.

The smartphone has a high-quality build and excellent materials. I looked at the phone in dark gray color, in addition to this option, two others will be available: one painted in metallic silver, and the other in red-brown color.

The front panel is distinguished by a metal edging that runs along its entire perimeter.

At the top there is a protrusion that hides the speaker, next to it there is a camera for video calls, light and detection sensors.

At the top end there is a 3.5 mm hole for connecting headphones or a headset; here we also see a microUSB port covered with a plug and a button to turn off the smartphone.

Under the large 3.5-inch screen there is a large “menu” key, and on either side of it there are buttons for accepting and ending calls. Just below is the microphone hole.

The presence of such buttons is worth noting separately, since doubts periodically arise: is it convenient to use a touchscreen phone without this pair of buttons. It is difficult to give a definite answer, since everyone uses the device in different conditions. But from a personal example, having encountered the fact that in the recent summer heat, touchscreen phones begin to “dull” due to the fact that during a conversation the device is pressed to the cheek, sweat remains on the screen, it dries quickly, as a result of which the device may respond inadequately on pressing. Even the oleophobic coating doesn't help. That's why I'm all for mechanical keys, they're useful.

There is a strap holder at the bottom end.

On the right side there are volume buttons, a screen lock lever and a camera launch button.

The back cover is made of metal and fits tightly to the body.

    Display

An AMOLED screen with a diagonal of 3.5 inches is used. The display is capacitive, has a resolution of 360x640 pixels, displays 16 million colors. The picture is bright, juicy and vibrant, excellent screen. There is multi-touch support.

    Camera

The smartphone has an 8-megapixel CMOS camera with dual LED flash and 2x digital zoom. It records high-definition HD video with a resolution of 1280x720, 25 frames per second.

A new module is used, the peculiarity of which is that the quality of images taken at a distance of 50 cm has improved. The main disadvantage of this solution is the lack of autofocus. The company's position is that most users like a camera with a fixed focus better; it is easier to learn: just press a button and the photo is ready, while with working autofocus the procedure is somewhat more complicated.

It's no secret that in many mobile devices this problem is solved simply: autofocus can be disabled in the camera settings. And the user has a choice of how to shoot: in a simplified mode or a more complex one.

There are no examples of photos and videos due to the fact that the final firmware is not ready yet, so we will wait for production samples to appear.

    Audio

Nokia C7-00 supports MP3, WMA, AAC, eAAC, eAAC+, AMR-NB, AMR-WB codecs; it is possible that the device will receive an unlimited subscription to the Ovi music file library, while this issue is being discussed.

There is a stereo FM radio and an FM transmitter.

    Platform

C7-00 is based on Symbian^3, has an ARM11 processor and a frequency of 680 MHz. The smartphone has 256 MB of RAM and 1 GB for the internal needs of the device, of which 350 MB is available to the user. Additionally, there is 8 GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot allows you to use flash media up to 32 GB.

    Connections

Nokia C7-00 operates in the GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100 bands. There is GPRS/EDGE class B, multi-channel class 33, support for HSDPA cat. 9, maximum speed up to 10.2 Mbit/s, HSUPA cat. 5 2.0 Mbit/s.

There is Bluetooth 3.0, which provides very fast data transfer to devices with Bluetooth of the same version. Users will also appreciate WLAN IEEE802.11 b/g/n.

For data transfer, High-Speed USB 2.0 is used via the microUSB USB connector. In addition, the phone can be charged both through a standard 2 mm connector and through a microUSB port.

The C7-00 has GPS and A-GPS receivers, the phone is equipped with Ovi maps with free car and pedestrian navigation.

    Battery

The smartphone has a BL-5K lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 1200 mAh. Up to 10 hours of talk time, up to 23 days in standby mode, up to 6.4 hours of video playback, up to 54 hours of music playback, up to 3.8 hours of video recording, up to 6 hours of operation as a navigator.

The indicators are very impressive; when the device is received for full testing, it will be very interesting to evaluate such capabilities in practice.

    Standard equipment:

    • Smartphone Nokia C7-00

    • Cable for connecting to a Nokia CA-101D computer

    • Stereo headset Nokia WH-102

    • Nokia AC-15 High Efficiency Charger

    • Quick Guide

    Conclusion

Nokia C7-00 is the top of the segment of “simple” Nokia phones. Moreover, it would be hard to call the device an ordinary “dialer”; it is a well-equipped and functional model, and at the same time thin and beautiful, perfectly assembled from high-quality materials. The device is expected to go on sale in the 1st quarter of 2011; it is still difficult to give more precise dates. It seems that there is reason to believe that it will be possible to buy the device at the end of January - beginning of February, but for now this is of a very vague nature.

Who will like the Nokia C7-00? Everyone. The device is so versatile and attractive that it will appeal to both sexes, regardless of age and social status. The only limitation is the price tag, which will most likely be 18,000 rubles.

Here another question arises: shouldn’t we buy a model that will sell for only a couple of thousand more? Moreover, the N8 has a 12-megapixel camera with autofocus and an HDMI output. But in this case, the decision must be made based on your own needs and preferences. We liked the Nokia C7-00.

    Positioning

In the line of smartphones from Nokia, the Nokia C7-00 (hereinafter referred to as simply C7 for simplicity) has been given a special place; this is the second Symbian^3 smartphone that will appear on the market. Let me remind you that there will be many such models in 2010-2011, but they will be present and sold with rather old devices running Symbian^1 (S60 fifth edition). Nokia considers the Nokia N8 to be the flagship; the main emphasis will be on sales of this device. However, it is the Nokia C7 that will be sold due to its lower price in large volumes, and will also prove a simple thing: the camera is not a big advantage for the mass market (with an eye to the fact that buyers will not know about the “quality” of the camera in the C7 and will purchase megapixels ). Why will Nokia C7 be attractive in the eyes of consumers? The answer is simple - it's the same Nokia N8, packaged in a different case, at a lower cost.

Considering that the company tried to lower the cost of the Nokia N8, it could not make the C7 model attractive in price. The reason is that it would destroy sales of the N8. As a result, the generally balanced solution was made hostage to Nokia's pricing strategy. The difference in price between the Nokia C6-01 (completely identical, except for the screen) and the C7 is 75 euros, while the difference in price between the C7 and N8 is only 40 euros. At the same time, the Nokia C7 was conceived as an optimal device in terms of price/quality ratio, a solution that should act as a kind of ideological continuation of the E-series models. It is clear that there is a Nokia E7-00, but this model rather belongs to the class of QWERTY devices, while the C7 directly inherits the E52/E72, it has a similar body design and the feel of the device. But this is a completely sensory solution. During development, this model was planned as one of the first with a touch screen in the E-series. But later they decided that it should be a flagship in the C index, simple, everyday models.

All this throwing played a cruel joke. On the one hand, consumers will not be entirely clear why the Nokia C7 is so much more expensive than the C6-01; on the other hand, the Nokia N8 is more attractive, and the price difference is not too critical. Unfortunately, the lack of balance in the product line has a negative impact on sales of the Nokia C7; they cannot be as high as this device deserves.

Positioning for the buyer of this model is very simple. Nokia's touch solution for everyday use. As a rule, buyers of this phone are either not familiar with Nokia touch products (moving from feature phones) or are replacing existing touch solutions with the S60. In the first case, there is usually no experience of communicating with touch devices, so the difference in user experience will not be too noticeable. In the second case, this phone also offers better functionality, which can be considered as a positive trend. People who have used other touch solutions of the same level (in terms of price and positioning) are unlikely to find improvements in the Nokia product, and their experience is unlikely to be positive. Of course, if budget touchscreen phones (LG Cookie, Samsung Corby, etc.) are replaced, then the model from Nokia is head and shoulders above them. But if we are talking about comparable solutions, then there will be no difference or it will not be in Nokia’s favor. I hope this allows you to anticipate your experience with the product. Much like other recent Symbian smartphones, this phone is intended for fans of the Nokia brand and is not capable of attracting new buyers.

    Design, dimensions, control elements

Externally, the model looks like a mixture of Korean phone designs and typical Nokia, an unusual but attractive mixture. Photos do not convey the charm of the Nokia C7; in real life it is pleasant and fits well in the hand. Weight – 130 grams, size – 117.3 x 56.8 x 10.5 mm. Long and thin. I like how the device fits in my hand.

    Comparison with Nokia N8:

A total of three colors are available – metallic silver, red-brown and dark grey. To my taste, all colors are good, although girls will like red-brown.

On the front panel there is a front camera for video calls, as well as a light indicator and a proximity indicator (proximity sensor). The call/end call keys, as well as the menu button, are made mechanical, which is a plus. In keeping with the phone's style, there is a lock slider on the right side. There is also a camera button and a paired volume key, which is convenient to use, unlike such a button on the C6-01.

At the top end there is a microUSB connector, a 3.5 jack for a headset, and a power key. The 2 mm connector for the charger was moved to the side.

The speakerphone and call signal are located on the back of the device. There is also a two-section LED flash and an 8-megapixel camera without autofocus. The SIM card slot is located under the back cover; changing the card is possible without removing the battery, but the phone automatically reboots.

There are no complaints about the build quality, the device is assembled quite tightly, it is good in this regard. The protruding design element of the earpiece (such a glossy strip) wears out if you put the phone face down. Why he was made a speaker remains a mystery to me.

The screen has a resolution of 640x360 pixels, 3.5 inches, it is covered with glass (the so-called special plastic, similar to the X6, it differs from that on the N8) and displays up to 16 million colors. The screen type is AMOLED, by analogy with the N8, we can assume that Samsung is also the supplier. The screen is no different from the Nokia N8, it is completely similar. This model does not have a polarizing layer (ClearBlack Display).

The screen can accommodate up to 16 lines of text (not in all modes), three font sizes are supported, they are selected when setting up the phone. In the sun the screen remains readable.

The built-in light sensor automatically adjusts the screen backlight depending on external conditions. As a rule, the level is underestimated, so it is better to set in the menu the value that is comfortable for you (for me it is 60-65 percent of the maximum). You cannot manually adjust the backlight level.

A good, modern screen, there are not enough stars in the sky, but it also has no obvious disadvantages.

    Memory, memory cards

The memory in the phone is 350 MB, it is allocated to regular applications or your data. Built-in 8 GB, there are also microSD memory cards up to 32 GB. The memory card slot is located under the back cover.

The amount of RAM in the phone is 256 MB (in the same Nokia N97 Mini it is 128 MB). For Nokia this is a giant leap forward, which should have meant an increase in the device's stability and speed. With speed this is true, but with stability everything is not so rosy. I will make a reservation that it is better than on other devices of the company, but by no means as good as it should be.

    Battery

The battery used is BL-5K, its capacity is 1200 mAh. With it, the device can work up to 380 hours in standby mode, from 5.5 to 12 hours in talk mode (UMTS/GSM).

The device uses a new architecture, which, together with Symbian^3, provides increased operating time in each mode. Let's look at the operating time of the device in different modes (theory and practice):

    • Video playback up to 7 hours (I got 6.6 hours);
    • Music playback up to 50 hours (standard headphones, music in repeat mode - 49 hours);
    • Data transfer (Web TV) up to 3 hours 20 minutes (1 hour 45 minutes, the quality of network coverage may play a role);
    • Video recording - 3 hours 40 minutes (3 hours 10 minutes, maximum characteristics, screen brightness set manually)

The differences from the Nokia N8 are noticeable; the operating time with the same battery capacity has increased, and noticeably.

The disadvantages include the fact that on average the phone still works for no more than 2 days. Compared to many competitors that live no more than one day, this is a good indicator. The energy sink is the desktop with widgets (they are power hungry, like any data transfer, with the exception of Wi-Fi). When browsing online pages, battery power is also actively wasted. Based on the operating time, it becomes clear why the ARM11 processor frequency is only 680 MHz, this is a compromise to achieve the longest operating time. From my observations, setting the screen brightness to 70 percent reduces the phone's battery life under my usage profile by 10 percent. When set to maximum brightness - about 20 percent.

The total charging time for the phone is about 2 hours.

    USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi

USB. In USB settings you can select one of 3 operating modes:

    • Data Storage (Mass Storage USB)- both the phone memory and memory cards are visible, no drivers are required, the OS itself recognizes the phone.
    • OVI Suite- work with OVI Suite, access to all functions of the device, backup of all information, and so on.
    • Printing & Media- photo printing, MTP mode.

Data transfer speed is about 5.5 Mbit/s. When you connect the USB cable, the phone charges.

Bluetooth. This is the second Nokia model to feature Bluetooth 3.0, also called High Speed. When transferring files to other devices that support this technology, Wi-Fi 802.11 n is used, and the theoretical transfer speed is about 24 Mbit/s. Testing the transfer of a 1 GB file from Samsung Wave S8500 to Nokia C7 and back showed a maximum speed of about 10 Mbit/s within three meters between devices. When transferring large files, the connection often breaks down, which is not observed when transferring files from a Nokia C7 to another similar device or from Samsung to Samsung. Apparently there is some kind of incompatibility between the settings. At the same time, the transfer of large files to regular S60 smartphones is also sometimes interrupted (BT 3.0 is not used here).

The model supports various profiles, in particular, Headset, Handsfree, Serial Port, Dial Up Networking, File Transfer, Object Push, Basic Printing, SIM Access, A2DP. Working with headsets does not raise any questions, everything is ordinary.

WiFi. The 802.11 b/g/n standard is supported; this is not the first device on the market with such a set of protocols. Everything works like clockwork and does not raise any questions. There is a wizard for searching for Wi-Fi networks, and there is also a corresponding widget (I installed it myself, it’s convenient).

    Camera

A regular 8-megapixel camera without autofocus, just like in the Nokia C6-01, they are identical. Surprisingly, Nokia chased megapixels and abandoned autofocus. In my opinion, it would have been better to install a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus than the current one. The image quality is acceptable on a clear day at long distances. The camera simply can’t take pictures up close, photographs of text are something else, and with a flash the camera also produces mediocre results. For Symbian, the quality of cameras has always come first, but now the situation is exactly the opposite. In my opinion, this is a very big drawback, since the camera does not stand up to any criticism, its quality is below average, if not worse. However, look at the photographs for yourself.

Video. The camera records video in 720p resolution (25 frames per second, H.264 codec). The video quality is normal.

    Software

Let me remind you that all the features of Symbian^3 are described to the maximum extent possible in the review. I don’t think it’s possible or necessary to repeat myself separately; the review describes all the functionality of this OS.

    Impressions

The phone has only one speaker, but it is loud and clear, the call can be heard from clothes, bags, in a word, the device is loud. I like that the vibration alert shakes with a slight tremor, but some will consider it weak, probably even the majority. There are no complaints about the quality of communication with the device, everything works “excellent”.

One of the serious pitfalls when purchasing this device is the camera; its quality does not stand up to criticism. This is another “gift” from Nokia to highlight the advantages of the Nokia N8. Considering that these models were made very close in price, this is a strange move. Let me remind you that the camera has always been a strong point of smartphones on the S60 and an advantage compared to similar devices on Windows Mobile and Android. In this case, this advantage was simply abandoned.

The cost of the Nokia C7-00 is 18,000 rubles (from 350 euros), while the Nokia C6-01 will cost about 260-270 euros and offers exactly the same capabilities. This is the first blow to the Nokia C7. The second blow can be considered the presence of the Nokia N8, where we see a very rich set of supplies (case, adapters, etc.) with a minimal difference in cost and a camera that is much higher in class. It turns out that in the Nokia lineup, the C7 model occupies an intermediate position and is cannibalized by sales of the other two devices. This is a shame, since the model was supposed to be the best solution in terms of price/quality ratio, and this, with a number of reservations, is the most balanced solution on Symbian^3 today. A camera with autofocus would be included here, and the bestseller would be ready.

There are a very large number of competitors for this model on the market, and most have been on sale for quite some time. These are Samsung Wave, as well as the now released Wave II (the first costs about 320 euros or 16,000 rubles, the second about 400 euros or 20,000 rubles), HTC Desire (18,000 rubles, 360 euros), Motorola XT720 aka MOTOROI (400 euros, 20,000 rubles). The list of models can go on and on. In my opinion, incorrect price positioning makes sales of the C7 in large volumes doubtful; buyers overpay about 20 percent for the Nokia brand in this case. In the Nokia product line, this is a nice solution that can be recommended to everyone who is familiar with touch Symbian, understands what awaits them and how to deal with it. And most importantly, he doesn’t feel any need for a camera. Probably, for such buyers, the Nokia C7 will be a very pleasant choice that will delight them. For the rest, there are many models that are superior to the C7 in interface, speed, capabilities and amount of additional software.

And finally, a summary of the characteristics of the Nokia C7, C6-01 and Nokia N8.

    Advantages of the phone:

    1. Stylish, elegant, pleasant to hold in your hands. The appearance is simply mesmerizing!
    2. Intuitive menus and Symbian device. In general, in Symbian the main attention has always been given primarily to the functions of the phone itself, so for many it is now more a matter of habit than the pursuit of novelty and gloss. “Ancient icons”, “outdated menu” - I, being a conservative, consider this a plus!
    3. Functionality. Considering only the software initially installed on the phone, it has enormous capabilities. And besides this, there are many different programs and games to choose from on the Internet.
    4. Pleasant little things.
    - The ability to place almost any necessary, most frequently used elements and programs on desktops. You can, for example, display the most necessary contacts so that you can dial them directly from your desktop, or the weather forecast.
    - Maintaining several calendars in one, i.e. Events in the general calendar can be organized into thematic groups, say, “work”, “events”, etc.
    - Convenient alarm clock! You can set it in the settings “only on weekdays”, and not bother every time before going to bed, and don’t think about it at all in the end.
    - Creating an account on ovi.com, which makes it possible to synchronize your contacts, calendars and notes with the ovi website and, if necessary, restore them from there to your phone.
There is also a set of a wide variety of programs, themes, and games that can be installed directly through the phone browser. There are both paid and free applications.

    Disadvantages of the phone:

    1. Fingerprints and fingerprints remain on the screen, and indeed on the entire surface of the phone.
In general, touchphones are not particularly practical in everyday life, in my opinion. It's more like that, a beautiful toy. At least it won’t work as a main music player - the case blocks the headphone output.
    2. This defect rate is not low. I bought it at the central Nokia store n-store on Tverskaya. I thought, since it’s an official store, well, in theory, everything should be of high quality - I didn’t really check the device when buying it, I took it lightly.
As a result, I got an obvious defect - a small gap between the case materials - which I noticed only a day after the purchase. The n-store is generally quite skeptical about guarantees. An examination lasted two weeks, as a result of which a manufacturing defect was confirmed. The Nokia service center repaired it and returned it to a presentable form, but I insisted on replacing it and they finally replaced it with a new one of the same kind.
Be careful when purchasing! I’ll write more about this below.
    3. This particular model has poor equipment. Consider the cost of the phone + memory card + case + norms. USB wire, all this is not cheap.
    4. When working with the display for a long time (brightness at minimum), your eyes get tired, as with any similar displays, probably.
    5. Camera. Personally, this function in a phone is not particularly important to me, so I won’t be too bothered by the lack of autofocus and the objectively bad pictures from it.
    6. Relatively low performance of Symbian^3. At this stage, much in the system itself has not been thought through, has not been finalized as desired. Applications may freeze. Software updates will be released next, I hope the situation will improve.
    7. Unpleasant little things.
    - Many paid programs,
    - Certificates,
    - I didn’t really like how “contacts” were implemented in Symbian^3. Of course, you can get used to everything, but it doesn’t look very clear, considering that this is the most important thing in a phone.
    - It is extremely inconvenient to switch languages when entering text (there seems to be a special program for this).
