• Exchange iPhone under warranty. MacBook Air specifications Possible reasons for replacing the screen on MacBook Air

Need for MacBook Air screen replacement does not occur very often, but when it is needed, it is better to immediately contact the services of our service center.

Despite the high quality of all devices and the parts used in them, replacement is required quite often. The fact is that the main reason is the human factor. The device may be accidentally dropped or otherwise malfunction. In any case, it is better to contact us to eliminate the defect.

Possible reasons for replacing the screen on a MacBook Air

Replacing the screen or matrix on a MacBook Air may be required in several situations. Clients come to us with the following situations:

    • Mechanical damage - The fact is that this laptop is very easy to damage. Fall from a height, pressure on the screen or other impacts. In this case, cracks propagating in all directions are observed. In less serious situations MacBook Air screen It works, but it is hard to see due to numerous cracks. In heavier ones, the glass falls out, and then using the device becomes dangerous.
    • Defects in the MacBook Air matrix. No matter how expensive a laptop is, it is susceptible to various breakdowns that may appear after some time of use. This may be due to defects in parts, assembly and poor storage conditions. At the same time, defects on the matrix can be very different, ranging from dead pixels to flickering or complete absence of backlight.
    • Poor quality repairs. Often people come to us with problems in the operation of the screen that began to appear after an unsuccessful repair. In such a situation, the cable, board and other elements could be damaged.
    • It is not necessary to do it at all replacing the display assembly on a MacBook Air. To save money, you can use separate repair services, that is, install a new screen or matrix only. As for time, the master will need the same amount for one or another procedure, so it makes no difference to him.

Methods for repairing a MacBook Air

Replacing the display on a MacBook Air can be done in several ways. Our clients can independently choose which one. We offer:

    • Replacing the screen or matrix on a MacBook Air separately if a specific part does not work. This option will be cheaper because you won’t have to buy a second part and part of the body. Of course, this also depends on the extent of the damage. After such repairs, traces of the intervention may remain, albeit barely noticeable, on the body. We work as carefully as possible to ensure that the laptop always has an attractive appearance.
    • If the screen is broken and the matrix is damaged, then in this case it is better to replacing the display assembly on a MacBook Air. This procedure is good because after the repair, factory quality is achieved, that is, no signs of interference in the structure will be visible externally. We will find a part of the laptop in exactly the same color as all the other parts.
    • Separate matrix replacement. In many situations, only the matrix needs to be replaced, which is unrealistic from the manufacturer's point of view. The fact is that these parts fit tightly together, forming a single whole. Many workshops exclude the possibility of performing such a procedure, but with us it is possible. If you have an Air or Retina series device, we will bring it back to life. After our intervention, there will be no traces left on the body.

What are the benefits of replacing a MacBook Air separately?

Replacing only the matrix on a MacBook Air is a more profitable solution, of course, if only it is damaged. The fact is that when assembled, this part of the laptop, in addition to the LCD, also has a webcam and microphone. These components also cost money.

Many people are interested in the question of what parts we use for replacement. Our service center uses only original spare parts, which are manufactured to order by brands such as LG and Samsung. These are the main brands.

There are also other manufacturers that make quite high-quality spare parts. Therefore, if you want to save money, since original parts are more expensive, then we are ready to order an analogue. In this case, the warranty period will be shorter, since a large share of it is provided by the manufacturer.

The next generation of thin and light Apple laptops was announced in early June, and immediately after the presentation of these models they went on sale. This allowed the company to become the first manufacturer to introduce to the market a new generation of devices with the latest generation of Intel hardware. By the way, the Haswell family of processors was officially shown at the Taiwan Computex exhibition, which took place just one week before Apple's annual event.

During the presentation of the new MacBook Air, they announced outstanding battery life, which is a critical factor for mobile work machines. Now the performance has increased significantly, allowing the models to last much longer on a single charge. This is the contribution of the new filling, as well as work to optimize energy consumption. Apple's thin and light laptops have become a landmark phenomenon for the industry. They proposed to abandon the DVD drive and excess weight, they showed that the device can be light, thin and work for a long time. And, of course, the design became an undeniable advantage: high-quality assembly, a pleasant and practical aluminum body.

This laptop is suitable for a very wide range of users: from students to those who choose Apple products for work or as an image solution. Whatever you say, for many these models will be the first affordable solution from a world-famous brand to the world of OS X. Even though they themselves are not cheap, but if you compare them with analogues for the same money, the reasons for such pricing become clear. Before the announcement of the latest generation, which was shown quite recently, there were many rumors that lightweight Apple laptops would receive high-resolution displays in the spirit of the older Apple MacBook Pro retina. However, this did not happen, but at the same time, there were some improvements: energy-efficient fourth-generation Intel processors allow you to work for a long time without a power outlet.

    DESIGN AND MATERIALS

It is impossible to distinguish the 2013 model from previous versions: the lightweight laptop has exactly the same body as the MacBooks of the three previous generations.

It is aluminum, the design is simple and of high quality, there is no plastic or feeling of cheapness, only positive emotions remain.

I don’t see the point in criticizing Apple for the fact that its appearance has not changed for more than one year. The MacBook Air is beautiful and recognizable, so apart from regular hardware upgrades, nothing is required to ensure that the laptop always remains a desirable item for purchase. Therefore, the sixth generation of Apple's lightest laptops pleases with its appearance.

As before, it is available in two versions: you can choose a model with an 11.6-inch screen, which weighs just over 1 kg, or you can choose a version with a 13-inch display, which weighs 1.3 kg.

Time moves forward, and those sizes that once seemed incredibly compact no longer look minimal.

ASUS, Samsung, Lenovo have interesting offers, and if you look towards even more original products, the Taiwanese brand Inhon with an ultra-thin and light 13-inch laptop does not leave its competitors a single chance.

Many expected a breakthrough from Apple in the recently announced generation of MacBook Air, but nothing like that happened, and we are faced with only the evolutionary development of models, where all the innovations are related primarily to the filling, but not to the exterior.

The all-aluminum body looks beautiful and is reliably assembled, there are no complaints here. In terms of durability and practicality, everything is also at a decent level - this will be confirmed by the owners of similar models of previous generations.

The younger version still remains one of the most compact, lightweight, but at the same time powerful devices on the market.

Therefore, if you need a productive filling, but at the same time weight is very critical, it makes sense to turn your attention to the version with an 11-inch screen.

    KEYBOARD

There are no changes here compared to previous versions, everything is familiar. Matte black plastic buttons peek out from the metal base of the case, in which all the necessary holes are made. The buttons are pressed moderately elastically, they are not hard, but they cannot be called loose either. The key area is sufficient for quick touch typing, while eliminating false positives and accidental presses.

In the younger model, the top row, where various functional buttons are located, is distinguished by narrow and thin keys, which are made this way due to limited space. But the rest of the buttons are not inferior in size to older models. The backlight is also in place, so it will be convenient to work on the computer in low light.

The touchpad is slightly smaller than that of the model with a 13-inch screen; the width is the same, but the difference in height is noticeable. Its dimensions are 104 x 62 mm versus 104 x 72 mm for the older one.

Sensitivity and ease of use are at the same high level, the touchpad is ideal, and better than Apple’s; no one else on the market has it yet.

It's very comfortable, and it's easy to love the laptop after working on it for a few hours. It’s easy to forget about the need to use a mouse to work.

    CONNECTORS

The younger model has two USB 3.0 ports, which are located on different sides. There is also a Thunderbolt port, but a slot for memory cards is present only in the 13-inch model; the younger one still does not have it.

This is the price for the case, so those who often need to transfer data from the camera to the computer will need to always carry either a cable or a card reader with them.

On the left you can find the MagSafe 2 charging connector, exactly the same as on the previous model year MacBook Air. There is also a 3.5 mm headphone port on this side. Thunderbolt can be used both to connect peripherals and to display images on a large monitor. For example, you can connect a laptop to the Apple Cinema Display or use a large 27-inch iMac for this. As for accessories, this primarily includes external storage devices. But hard drives with such an interface are very expensive, so they will be available to a limited number of users.

The audio system has not undergone significant changes, so everything here remains at the same level. The thin Apple laptop has never had any special sound qualities. If you want a pleasant sound, you need to connect headphones, but through the built-in speakers you can only count on a very modest soundtrack.

    SCREEN

The screen resolution in the 11.6-inch model is 1366 x 768 pixels with an aspect ratio of 16:9.

It’s impossible to say anything special about a three-year-old display; the picture hasn’t changed for many years, and what was quite a decent indicator at that time has now become nothing more than an ordinary standard.

Many analogues already offer high-quality IPS displays with FullHD images, and among them there are also matte screens. Whereas here a glossy TN+Film matrix is used with all the ensuing consequences.

Everyone was expecting the appearance of a Retina screen, but apparently we have to wait at least another year to finally see a new quality picture in thin Apple laptops, comparable to older models. So far, nothing like this has happened; the latest generation is no different from the old versions.

Of course, you can work behind such a screen, however, if you want maximum quality for your money, it is logical to look towards models from other manufacturers - the image will be better there. Moreover, you can also find laptops with matte screens. Let me remind you that the MacBook Air offers a glossy matrix with all its features.

Detailed testing of the screens was carried out by our expert Mikhail Kuznetsov.

Displays are usually one of the strong points of various Apple products. And it’s not even about the resolution, but about the overall image quality and factory settings. The junior line of MacBook Air laptops is an exception to the rule, which contains a number of compromises. Let's try to study them and list them.

First of all, the MacBook Air has a TN+Film LCD panel with all the ensuing consequences. While horizontal viewing angles can still be called satisfactory, vertical viewing angles are very small, and to work comfortably with a laptop you need to find the “sweet spot” where the image is not distorted. Otherwise, the colors and gamma are greatly shifted - even to the point of inversion.

We tested the screen on a 13.3-inch version with a physical resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels. Yes, many are already spoiled by the increased pixel density of Retina displays, but, in my opinion, the clarity and resolution of the MacBook Air screen will be quite enough for everyday use. In addition, the MacOS interface itself contains many tools for smoothing fonts and other tricks that skillfully hide flaws.

The measured maximum brightness was 351 cd/m2, which should be enough for most users. The contrast ratio reaches 880:1, and the screen is equipped with an effective anti-glare lens that fights external light. If the light does not hit the screen directly, then the image is quite legible, but there is no escape from direct light sources - the smooth glossy coating of the screen affects it.

The average gamma is 2.28, which is quite close to the target value of 2.2. However, with various measurement methods it could rise to 2.57, revealing insufficient brightness of the image in relation to the signal.

The color temperature in the critical range ranges from 6500K to 7000K, which is quite acceptable. White balance is well maintained in light tones, but “spreads” in dark ones - especially near 10% gray.

The average color deviation DeltaE is acceptable - about 7 units. The visual assessment of the gray scale is quite good, but if you look closely, certain variations in shades are still present.

The color gamut significantly falls short of the sRGB standard. Colors lack depth and saturation. In addition, the brightness of the blue color stands out strongly against the general background (+139%). The average color deviation DeltaE is large - slightly above 10. However, colors (except blue) have better indicators. A visual assessment of the image showed that the screen tends to “merge” some bright colors together, which does not add points to it.

In general, the Apple MacBook Air screen is suitable for an undemanding user for every day to do simple tasks - for example, surf the Internet.

For more complex tasks that require special attention to the image (for example, photography), you already want a higher-quality screen. And if Apple offers such options on more expensive models, then competitors will have them for the same money as the MacBook Air. So it is possible that it is worth looking towards various alternatives.

    FILLING, TESTS, AUTONOMY

The laptop offers two Intel Haswell family processors. The first is an Intel Core i5-4250U with a frequency of 1.3 GHz, which accelerates to 2.6 GHz in Turbo Boost mode, the second is a Core i7-4650U, which operates at a frequency of 1.7 GHz, which also increases to 3.3 GHz under load. Despite the fact that the operating frequency in the latest generation processors has become lower compared to their predecessors, this has not affected the work, as tests confirm. According to them, the 2013 models score more points than previously released models. The RAM capacity is 4 GB DDR3-1600, but models with 8 GB can also be ordered.

The version with 64 GB of internal memory is no longer on sale; now the minimum disk system capacity is 128 GB, and if necessary, you can choose larger SSDs for data storage: 256 or even 512 GB. The integrated graphics are Intel HD5000. The laptop works quickly and quietly, it makes noise only under high load, when processing photos or videos in editors; in other modes it is simply silent. So it’s just perfect for the role of a typewriter when traveling. With cooling, everything is fine here; the surface does not overheat under normal conditions, and fans are not heard. As before, you just need to open the lid and the laptop wakes up and is ready to work. Close the lid - it sleeps and uses energy very economically in this mode, especially if you disable Power Nap - a function that allows you to check mail and receive messages while the user is not working at his laptop.

The laptop normally performs the tasks assigned to it, which are assigned to the user of such thin computers: working with documents, watching videos, surfing the Internet or quickly processing photos.

In other words, it easily does what most buyers need. Due to the lack of powerful graphics, games will be difficult here, as before, so you shouldn’t count on it too much in this regard.

Apple says that the latest generation of SSDs have become faster than those used previously, the difference in favor of the new ones is 45%.

In practice, it is very difficult to feel this, but measurements in the benchmark confirm this fact.

Another change is the new Wi-Fi 802ac, which will soon become the new industry standard.

The laptop picks up wireless networks better and also provides higher data transfer speeds. Built-in Bluetooth 4.0, there are a pair of USB 3.0 connectors located on the sides. There is nothing else. If you need to connect to wired Internet, you will have to buy an additional adapter. The same must be done if it is necessary to display images on monitors.

During the presentation at WWDC 2013, much attention was paid to the results of battery life. Apple laptops have always stood out positively among competitors in this indicator; good system optimization allows you to work for a long time without connecting to a power outlet.

Now the numbers have become even more attractive, as they have almost doubled.

For example, the 11-inch 2013 model lasts 9 hours versus 5 hours on the previous generation model. Moreover, the laptop lasts even longer. If you use it for typing at 60% brightness, it lasts for almost 10 hours! With Wi-Fi turned on and a more active load, which will also include photo processing or watching videos, it will be around 8-8.5 hours. The built-in battery charge indicator may promise more visually pleasing numbers, but in practice the results are still less. Nevertheless, there are no problems with battery life; there is always enough charge for a day.

These are numbers at the level of tablets, but not laptops, the progress is obvious. If you watch the video, you also get a very decent result, almost 8 hours with brightness at maximum level. Apple promises that the laptop will last up to 1 month in sleep mode. The charging itself is very fast, it takes less than 1.5 hours, the power supply has not changed at all, it is still the same small 45 W charger.

A model with a 13-inch screen, which also includes a more capacious battery, will provide even longer battery life; it will be 15-20% higher than the younger version.

    OPINION HI-TECH.MAIL.RU

Long before the announcement of Apple laptops, there were rumors about the appearance of a thin device with a very high-quality screen. It is impossible not to recognize their validity, because the display resolution in the MacBook Air has not changed for several years, while competitors have been offering better matrices for the second year now. Buying an ultrabook with FullHD resolution and an IPS matrix is now not at all a problem; the choice is very large. In this case, we have to admit that the screen will be the weakest component of the new models. It has an average-quality glossy TN matrix, and the dot density is noticeably lower than that of its analogues. As usual, Apple is not known for its generosity, so the range of connectors here is quite small, and the adapters that may be required will not be cheap.

At the same time, the battery life indicators cause nothing but delight. These are the best performance in the class today. Moreover, the numbers are really such that you can safely leave home without the extra weight of the power supply - charging is enough for the whole day. And this will certainly be appreciated by those who often work on business trips or need a mobile device with high performance and excellent battery life. If earlier such indicators could be found in iPad tablets, now lightweight Apple laptops can proudly show excellent results.

The appearance, materials and assembly are still at their best, and performance has also increased. The most pleasing thing is the increase in battery life, and with the advent of the new version of OS X it should become even better. The main drawback is the screen, the resolution of which has not changed for many years; now I want more. Otherwise, the model is still as convenient and pleasant to use. Now the 11-inch version becomes the most powerful model in its class. A very light and thin laptop with a large SSD drive can easily become a main computer, because if necessary, you can connect a large monitor to it. The new graphics system has become even more powerful, and support for multiple displays and features of the new operating system allow you to use the MacBook Air for those tasks that require displaying images on more than just one monitor.

Alternative solutions include models such as Lenovo X1 Carbon, ASUS UX31A, Samsung Series 9 Ultra. Most recently, Samsung showed off its new top-end ultrabook, which in terms of resolution has surpassed Apple's Retina screens. It is not yet clear how convenient it will be to work with Windows with such a display, but the very fact that it is becoming increasingly difficult for Apple to fight for the buyer’s choice cannot be denied.

Today, the strong qualities inherent in the MacBook Air a few years ago are quite enough to ensure that the models continue to have interesting and attractive qualities for the buyer. These include a proprietary design, good materials and workmanship, an excellent backlit keyboard and touchpad. In addition, the next generation has a completely new filling, which is still available for a very limited range of models. But this won't last long - everyone will soon update their devices. There were some drawbacks here too. There are still few connectors here, the frame of the screen is too big for its dimensions, and the resolution itself also hints at the past. But be that as it may, to this day the MacBook Air will be one of the best offers among ultrabooks. There are no models with such battery life on sale yet, and this is a very strong feature for a mobile solution. I think for the vast majority of buyers this will be a key purchasing factor. The Retina screen is not as important as the battery life.

The gesture system has not undergone any changes, there is no need to relearn it. But if you look at it all more broadly, then in most cases, a force click performs the same function that a three-finger tap used to perform.

    Opinion site

With MacBook Air everything is clear. Once again, I would not recommend it as a replacement for the previous generation model. It's best thought of as Apple's first laptop because it's quite inexpensive (compared to the MacBook and MacBook Pro) and allows you to fully understand the application and service infrastructure. But the MacBook Pro with the new trackpad is a unique phenomenon. The compact 12-inch MacBook, on which Apple first demonstrated Force Touch, has not yet gone on sale, so the firmware became the first product with a new type of trackpad. So far there are not many scenarios for using forsklick, but it is already obvious that this is a great foundation for the future. Further use of new functions falls on the shoulders of third-party developers.
