• Lenovo VIBE K5 Plus review: metallic and inexpensive. Lenovo K5 Plus: characteristics and description Lenovo K5 plus technical specifications

    In a fairly short period, Lenovo has become one of the most serious players in the Ukrainian portable equipment market. The products of the Chinese company combine quality, reliability and the best price. The new Lenovo K5 Plus smartphone has these three qualities and is designed to occupy a position in the niche of mid-range budget smartphones.

    For the test, we received a silver model with the index A6020a46. For communication, a 3Mob operator card was installed. Of the 16 GB of internal memory, 10 were available out of the box. Unfortunately, the smartphone runs on an outdated version of Android 5.1.1. During use there were no updates.

    Equipment

    A pleasant surprise awaits buyers here. The delivery set consists not only of the device and basic charger and headset, but also includes a protective film for the screen and a plastic cover cover. I wouldn't say that the case fits perfectly, but it's a "gift horse"... you know. It protects the smartphone, this is the main thing. Just remember to periodically remove it and clean out any accumulated grains of sand - they can scratch the back cover.

    In the box you will find:

    • Smartphone
    • Battery capacity 2750 mAh
    • 2-pin charging (5 V, 1.5 A)
    • microUSB cable
    • Protective film on the screen
    • Protective plastic case
    • Headset
    • Documentation

    Design and ergonomics

    The Vibe K5 Plus looks quite stylish for a budget device. Nice design, aluminum back cover, clearly fitted plastic inserts. The body is assembled tightly and does not creak. On the front there is a 5-inch screen and three touch buttons without backlight. At the top are proximity and light sensors, a front camera peephole, and a speaker. On the back top you can find the camera peephole and flash. Below the aluminum cover are the speakers. By the way, this is a very controversial decision, since, for example, during games the hand almost completely covers them.

    On the sides there is a minimum number of control elements. The left side was left completely empty. On the right is the power button and volume control keys.

    Overall, everything looks good, but two complaints need to be highlighted. The first is the microUSB connector located on top. Perhaps it's a matter of time, but I still couldn't get used to this engineering solution. You constantly try to insert the cable from below. Plus, it is very inconvenient to install a smartphone in a car. The cord is initially not that long and you have to struggle a lot to install everything at a comfortable level. And I’m keeping quiet about the aesthetic side of the cable sticking up.

    Otherwise everything looks good. The device fits perfectly in the palm of your hand and does not slip. During all the time of use, he never tried to fall out of his hands.

    Screen

    K5 Plus received a 5-inch FullHD screen with an IPS matrix. The 1080p resolution and 440 ppi are impressive for a budget device. The screen is clear, with wide viewing angles. There are saturation and color temperature settings. Those who like to read in the evenings will be pleasantly surprised by the reading mode. A special filter is applied and the screen turns yellowish.

    The smartphone also has a light sensor, but it was immediately disabled due to its incorrect operation. In the sun, the screen fades quite a bit and you want to turn the brightness up to maximum.

    Unfortunately, the display is protected by ordinary glass, so small scratches quickly appear on it.

    Sound

    The back cover of the Lenovo K5 Plus proudly displays the inscription DOLBY, which seems to hint at the strong musical component of the smartphone. The speakers are really loud and allow you to hear music/movies/podcasts well in quite noisy environments. However, loud does not mean quality. Don’t forget that this is a budget device and you can’t expect high quality sound from it, for example, like from the HTC 10 or Moto X Style.

    The standard headset of stars from the sky is not enough and is more suitable for unassuming users. For better sound quality, it is better to use good ones.

    Camera

    The device has a 13 megapixel main camera with f/2.2 aperture and a single flash. The front camera has a 5 megapixel sensor and copes well with its tasks. As for the main camera, this is the most controversial part of the K5 Plus. For example, if you decide to shoot during the day, on the street, in good lighting, you can rest assured that the photos will turn out clear, bright and attractive.

    But believe me, shooting in the dark or just in a dark room will be a big mistake. Detailing drops, photos turn out blurry, and artifacts appear.

    As for video, the K5 Plus shows average results. The recording is in 1080p resolution at 30 fps.

    Performance

    The smartphone has an eight-core Snapdragon 616 processor, 2 GB of RAM and an Adreno 405 video core. You don’t really have to expect anything outstanding from the K5 Plus, and the AnTuTu benchmark score confirms this.

    Among the toys, I installed the cool trial MMX Hill Climb and the popular racing game Asphalt 8. The first one ran at maximum settings by default and behaved satisfactorily during the game. The second one turned out to be more demanding and constantly slowed down at maximum graphics settings. The transition to the average helped. Heating in games remained within comfortable limits.

    Lenovo K5 Plus runs Android 5.1.1 with the proprietary Vibe UI interface. The system is a little old, but well optimized, it works smoothly and comfortably. Minimal animation delays were observed only after a significant load with a large number of running applications.

    Autonomy

    The device has a 2750 mAh battery. It is removable, which is an important factor for many users. With a light load, the battery easily lasts for a day and a half. If you load your smartphone during the day (GPS, 60 minutes of games, surfing the Internet, music), then in the evening you will have to use the charger.

    Conclusions

    At the moment, Lenovo VIBE K5 Plus is sold in Ukrainian online stores at a price of ₴4999 (~$200). For this money you get a nice smartphone with metal elements, bonuses in the form of a plastic case and screen cover, good, loud sound and an excellent contrast screen. On the negative side, we note the poor placement of the speakers and microUSB socket, and an outdated version of Android.

    The K5 Plus smartphone will have a hard time on the Ukrainian market. The niche is tightly packed with brands such as ASUS, Xiaomi, Meizu. Some devices offer a better camera, others offer more additional functions and a nicer design.

    Prices in online stores

    It is possible to display similar models if this one is not in the catalog for your region.

    This article will be of interest to those who are concerned about purchasing a new smartphone from the mid-price segment of the market. You are presented with plus, the characteristics, reviews of performance and simply the appearance of which are quite good. We are sure that after reading it you will definitely decide for yourself whether to take it or not.

    Basic equipment

    The device is sold and supplied in a small box made of hard and thick cardboard, onto which images of the smartphone itself and other markings are accurately transferred. The cover, surprisingly, fits quite tightly, which gives us hope that when transporting the phone, for example, by mail or delivery service, if you order the phone through an online store, your purchase will remain safe and sound.

    After removing the cover, you will see the screen of your new gadget, covered in a protective film. Additionally, the gadget has a so-called “Case” - a protective cover made of thin matte plastic on the back wall of the smartphone. This is undoubtedly pleasing, since in addition to the phone, you also get a bonus, albeit simple, but still a case that can protect your new pet from unpleasant scuffs and scratches. Taking out the phone, you will find that it was located in a small “tray” made of cardboard, which can now be removed after removing the device.

    The pallet also serves as an envelope for documentation, so don't rush to throw it away. On the “bottom floor” of the box you will find a screen protector, a Micro-USB cable, a headset with a built-in microphone and a one and a half amp USB adapter for connecting the phone to the mains.

    Appearance

    The first thing that catches your eye and the first thing you want to discuss is how the smartphone looks. Externally, the smartphone is not much different from similar models and is even somewhat lost among its motley brethren. However, its appearance is not without grace in its simplicity. As far as we know, the smartphone is produced exclusively in white and gold colors, but there is definitely information that the device can also be found in black on the Indian market. What is the reason for such a paucity of coloring and the inaccessibility of the black case specifically for the Russian/Ukrainian market remains unknown.

    Design

    If we talk about the design solutions applied to this smartphone, then first of all let’s mention the dimensions:

    • Length - 142 millimeters.
    • Width - 71 millimeters.
    • Thickness - 8.2 millimeters.
    • Weight - 150 grams.

    As you can see, in terms of dimensions the smartphone is practically not inferior to the same Samsung Galaxy j 7.

    On the front side there is a five-inch diagonal screen with Full HD resolution. At the bottom, at the base, there are three touch buttons for control, and at the top there is a speaker, a front camera and proximity and lighting sensors.

    On the right side of the case there are buttons for controlling the volume and turning the phone on/off. On the top edge, according to the standard, there are ports for charging and “Jack”. At the back there are the usual ones: a camera, a flash and two speakers at the base.

    Nutrition

    Now let's look at the technical characteristics of plus regarding power supply. Energy is supplied via a 2750 milliampere/hour battery. Alas, this battery capacity is not quite enough. With not very active work, the charge lasts, at best, for a day. During active work, correspondingly, less.

    Lenovo k5 plus dual: electronics characteristics

    No matter what people say about the phone being a fashion accessory, the most important thing is still under the hood. No one will argue with this. Lenovo K5 plus, whose characteristics are very modest compared to its more formidable brothers, has in its arsenal a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor with eight cores, which, according to some reports, work in a 4x4 combination. That is, 4 cores are more powerful, the main ones, 4 are auxiliary. In addition, the system uses an Adreno 405 video processor.

    Lenovo vibe K5 plus a6020a46: memory specifications

    The memory used by the phone for various needs is also important. If we talk about the amount of memory built into this phone, then Lenovo K5 plus does not show characteristics beyond a high level: 2 gigabytes of RAM, ensuring system speed.

    16 gigabytes of built-in storage memory, of which approximately 10.5-11 gigabytes are available. At the same time, it is possible to increase its number with a MicroSD card. Its maximum capacity should be no more than thirty-two gigabytes.

    Audio and camera specifications

    Now let's talk about the camera characteristics, since many people choose a phone for their own needs, referring to this component. So, the Lenovo vibe K5 plus has the following characteristics:

    1. Looking ahead a little, the sound of this model is not the best, but for phones in this price category it is quite tolerable. As already mentioned, the Lenovo K5 plus, whose characteristics are very average, is not the best phone in the world, so you should not expect perfect sound from it. Two speakers on the rear panel provide you with sound that is not jarring, so you can listen to music or watch videos quite comfortably. The only serious complaint is the location of the speakers. They are built in such a way that when held vertically they are blocked by the palm, and when held horizontally by the fingers, which affects the sound quality. As for the conversational speakers, they work much better, but still the difference is noticeable in comparison with more expensive models. The same can be said about the headphones included in the kit. They don't shine with quality, so music lovers will either have to put up with cheap sound or buy good headphones separately. In general, the sound of this phone is slightly below average, which is very, very excellent for its pricing policy.
    2. Now the most important point for phone photographers. The Lenovo K5 plus has low specifications for both cameras, the main one and the front one, but for the money paid for this phone, it would be stupid to expect more. It sounds scary, but in reality we get 13 megapixels on the main camera and 5 on the front one. Frankly speaking, it’s not enough for a full-fledged camera, but in order to periodically take a couple of photos without particularly worrying about ideal quality, it’s quite suitable.

    Both cameras are unfortunately very sensitive to light. In uniform daylight, the frames can still claim to be good, but if you shoot in the dark, or even worse, in bright artificial lighting, be it lamps in a dark room or streetlights in a city at night, be prepared that the frames will be blurry and the color rendition will be blurred. will be unnaturally white. This is such a special feature of this device.

    Conclusion

    Now you can form your own opinion regarding the phone presented in this article. Of course, this smartphone is good in its segment of budget smartphones, and it feels confident there, but the choice whether to buy it or not is yours. It all depends on your requirements for such a mobile device.

    Today we have a review of the Lenovo K5 or there is another name - Lenovo A6020, which is a new product for 2016, first shown at the NVC-2016 technology exhibition in Barcelona. Including several more powerful modifications, we’ll talk about them another time.

    Smartphones from the Vibe line are always classified as premium series devices, that is, flagships. But specifically, the Lenovo Vibe K5 is more of a budget phone.

    The box is made of white cardboard with an image of the gadget on the front. In addition to the phone, the kit includes:

    • Quick start instructions and warranty card;
    • charger 5 Volt, 1.5 Ampere;
    • MicroUSB cable;
    • earbud headphones;
    • thick plastic case;
    • protective film.

    Quite a rich set, which is not so often seen.

    Appearance

    The Lenovo K5 body is made of plastic, glass and metal. The manufacturer offers several color options: light gray, dark gray or graphite and gold.

    The front of the phone looks standard. Above the screen there is a speaker, a front camera with 5 megapixel expansion, as well as light and proximity sensors. There is also a notification indicator that is located in the top right corner. It can change its color to green and red. Below the display are the standard Android navigation keys. They are not backlit, but have reflective paint.

    On the right side there is an on/off button, as well as a volume rocker. The left side remained empty. There is a hole for a microphone on the bottom side. made of plastic. The upper end is made of plastic, which is not easy to do, but to improve the signal of the antennas. There is also a MicroUSB charging output and a standard 3.5 mm jack for connecting a headset or headphones.

    The back cover is made of aluminum with plastic inserts. It is removable. The lid is not very flexible, but nevertheless can be removed, which can generally be considered a plus. The main frame of the lid is made of aluminum, but the top and bottom strips are made to look like metal, although they are plastic.

    Under the cover there is a removable lithium-ion battery, two microSIM slots and a separate slot for a memory card. On the back cover there is the main antenna, under it there are several contacts from it.

    There are two speakers on the bottom. One of the main features of Lenovo K5 is the presence of two stereo speakers. This, combined with Dolby Atmos technology, allows you to get pretty high-quality sound. True, the technology can only be fully appreciated with headphones. The sound is loud and spacious.

    At the top there is a peephole of the main camera with an LED flash (its expansion is 13 megapixels), and below it is a second microphone for noise reduction. In the middle is the Lenovo logo.

    Dimensions:

    • Height - 142 millimeters;
    • Width - 71 millimeters;
    • Thickness - 8.2 millimeters:
    • Weight - 142 grams.

    Lenovo K5 turned out to be a hefty smartphone due to its metal back cover.

    The device lies comfortably in the hand.

    The phone can be easily controlled with one finger. There is a coating on the back cover, but despite this the smartphone still slides.

    Screen

    The K5 has a 5-inch display with HD 1280 x 720 pixels. This figure is very average today. The screen is made using IPS matrix technology. Density: 204 pixels per inch.

    The viewing angles are quite good and high quality. The fonts look smooth. It can be noted that the screen in this gadget turned out to be of high quality with a good margin of brightness.

    Supports the display up to 5 simultaneous touches. There is a light oleophobic coating on the surface. The finger glides well, but it feels like the coating is weak, and it may rub off over time.

    Processor, OS and autonomy

    The technical characteristics of the device are as follows:

    • Octa-core Quallcom Snapdragon 415 processor. Four Cortex A-53 cores operate at a maximum frequency of 1.4 GHz, two auxiliary ones can reach speeds of up to 1 GHz at low loads. Although in the settings the processor is displayed as 615. This is due to the fact that they differ only in different operating frequencies. The original 615 runs at 1.7 GHz, as the 415 runs at 1.4 GHz.
    • Adreno 405 video accelerator.
    • RAM - 2 GB.
    • Built-in memory is 16 GB, with 11.6 GB available at launch. Memory cards up to 32 GB are supported.

    But how does Lenova Vibe K 5 behave in games? In heavy Asphalt 8, the picture turns out juicy, which does not particularly affect the smoothness of the process. The phone behaves more or less adequately. There is no braking. But if we take, for example, football stimulants, then the results are no longer the best. There is a drop in fps. Tanks also run quite smoothly, but only if the settings are lowered.

    The processor is controversial, below average for games.

    The device runs on the Android 5.1 operating system with the proprietary Lenovo Light UA “shell” on top of it.

    Inside the gadget there is a battery of only 2750 mAh, which is enough for a normal working day when used in medium load mode. If you are going to load it with games, you will have to recharge it twice a day.

    Camera

    As mentioned earlier, the device has two cameras: a 13 MP main camera and a 5 MP front camera. Standard set.

    The user has at his disposal:

    • Light flash.
    • Autofocus and touchfocus.
    • Supports HDR and other modes, which can be configured independently in the camera menu. From "Auto" and motion to night photography to "Night portrait" and "Beach".

    The owner can also choose a professional mode, where he can adjust the ISO level, add contrast, saturation, sharpness or shutter speed.

    The peculiarity of the front camera is that in the settings you can select “mirror photo”, that is, the image will turn out exactly the same as you see on the smartphone screen.

    • Mode 4 to 3;
    • Auto;
    • White balance;
    • Image quality;
    • Additional effects.

    But despite this, the quality of the photo leaves much to be desired. The picture is a little blurry, lacks clarity and has too much grain.

    And when darkened, the photo generally does not reach the level it should be.

    Perhaps with subsequent firmware this issue will be partially resolved.

    The maximum resolution when recording video is 1800p format. Maximum duration is 30 minutes. There is an autofocus mode and electronic image stabilization.

    Results and price

    What do we get in the end for 7 thousand rubles? As always, there are pros and cons.

    1. Interesting design.
    2. Separate SIM cards and memory card, that is, you don’t have to choose anything.
    3. High quality screen.
    4. Loud stereo speakers.
    1. Not all games run well; Lenovo's optimization is a little lame.
    2. Very weak battery.
    3. Price for this device.
    4. Cameras.

    The Lenovo K5 is, in principle, a good smartphone that is suitable for most everyday tasks, but you shouldn’t expect more from it.

    Video

    A video review of the smartphone can be seen below

    Today it's time for a more interesting option - Lenovo K5 plus. In the review, we’ll figure out how interesting the plus version was compared to the regular one? Is it worth purchasing? Or is it better to pay attention to other Chinese companies?

    The phone comes in a blue box with the model name. Inside, in addition to the K 5 plus itself, lies:

    • The case is transparent, which is a nice bonus that leaves a pleasant impression about the company. Even though it's the simplest, thanks anyway.
    • Warranty cards and instructions in a separate envelope. QuickStart Guide is multilingual, where you can find most languages. The limited warranty is only available in the countries listed on it.
    • The protective film is another bonus for this device.
    • MicroUSB cable for connecting to a computer and charging. It feels like a very high quality and fairly long cord.
    • A headset with a microphone that can be used for calls. Ordinary headphones, there is nothing remarkable about them. Thanks to them, the sound quality is quite affordable.
    • USB adapter 5 Volt, 1.5 Ampere.

    As you can see, the Lenovo company did not skimp on offering a full package of different goodies to its customers.

    Appearance

    As in the regular version of the K 5, here the main part is made of aluminum, but there are two plastic inserts on the top and bottom. The gadget fits well in the hand, but due to the metal back cover, it tends to jump out of the hand.

    On the right side there is a power button and volume control. There is nothing on the left side as the lid opens and the SIM card tray is inside. On the back side at the top there is a camera, flash and microphone. At the bottom are two speakers and the Dolby logo. Let's talk a little about this technology, which makes the sound more spacious and interesting.

    Thanks to Dolby Atmos, you can customize the audio output depending on the file you want to play:

    • Movies;
    • Music;
    • Games;
    • Voice.

    For example, in the “Music” mode the sound becomes better and more interesting.

    In headphones, the sound with Dolby Atmos changes significantly. It becomes more rich, interesting and enjoyable.

    Dolby Atmos mode only has a positive effect on music. The smartphone produces very good and high-quality sound. If you are a music lover, then you should definitely pay attention to this device.

    At the bottom end there is only a microphone. At the top end there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a charging port. On the front bottom there are three touch keys, which, unfortunately, are not backlit. On the top of the front side there is a camera, speaker and proximity and light sensors.

    Dimensions:

    • Height - 142 millimeters;
    • Width - 71 millimeters;
    • Thickness - 8.2 millimeters;
    • Weight - 150 grams.

    The weight has increased slightly compared to the standard K5 version, but not critically.

    The cover of the phone is removable, but it fits very tightly, so there is no need to worry that it will accidentally fall off. Underneath it are two slots for MicroSIM cards, a slot for a MicroSD card (supports up to 32 GigaBytes), and a battery.

    Screen

    Lenovo K5 Plus has a 5-inch screen with an IPS matrix. Resolution is 1920 by 1080 pixels, that is, Full HD. This is another change that has befallen the smartphone compared to the vanilla K5.

    The bezels around the display are not very large, at least in the dark versions. If you take the white version, then such frames no longer look very nice.

    The screen turned out great - bright with good viewing angles. The brightness reserve is really high.

    Operating system and processor

    Now let's see what technical characteristics the Lenovo k5 plus has acquired:

    • Eight-core Quallcom Snapdragon 616 processor, where four stronger cores operate at a frequency of 1.5 GHz, four weaker ones already at a frequency of 1.2 GHz.
    • Adreno 405 graphics accelerator.
    • RAM 2 GB.
    • Built-in memory 16 GB. Almost 11 GB is available to the user, which is a little small by today's standards, but can be expanded further up to 32 GB.

    In GTA San Andreas it works well on medium graphics settings, but if you go to maximum, stuttering occurs. But most likely these are optimization problems. You can play this heavy game, but you should expect lags and drawdowns even with lower graphics quality. For an ideal game you need to set the minimum settings. All other games run great on this device.

    The smartphone runs on the Android 5.1.1 operating system. There is a pretty nice Vibe UI - a proprietary shell from Lenovo. The shell works very quickly, and at the same time has a number of features. For example, the possibility of customization, such as changing the Vibe UI style to the familiar Android. The Chinese and European versions of the device have different firmware installed.

    To keep the phone running, the manufacturer installed a 2700 mAh battery. It holds her smartphone very well, even better than the average Android device. With average use, the battery lasts for a day; with active use, for example, playing demanding games, it lasts for several hours.

    Camera

    Lenovo K5 plus has two cameras: a 13 MP main camera and a 5 MP front camera.

    Cameras are one of the advantages of this device.

    When you press with your finger, focusing is much faster and better than in the simple K5 model, and the quality of the pictures is much higher.

    There is an HDR mode that allows you to get a brighter photo with fewer shadows. But when using this mode, you will need to wait a little for the setup to occur. An example of a photograph can be seen in the photo below.

    The camera takes great photos outdoors, as there is a lot of light. Texture detail is quite acceptable for this price segment. As soon as there is less light, the quality of the images decreases.

    Results

    You need to immediately understand that Lenovo K5 plus is not a flagship, because its price is on average 14 thousand rubles. It has strengths, such as the screen, Dolby technology and filling, and disadvantages in the form of a unique call menu and small fonts.

    The device turned out to be very interesting and definitely worth the money.

    Appearance

    As you can see, the smartphone has similar features to Apple products and this is not surprising, because many manufacturers are trying to recreate a similar appearance to one degree or another.

    On the front side of the Lenovo Vibe K5 there are: a front camera, sensors, a voice speaker, a 5-inch display and three touch control buttons.

    On the back there is a camera with flash, a microphone, the Lenovo logo and two speakers.
