• Xiaomi sim activation error. Registration and deletion of Mi Account. Activation of a blocked card

Chinese Xiaomi smartphones are periodically capable of producing errors associated with failure to activate SIM cards. The following message is typical: “The SIM card is not activated.” Xiaomi smartphones allow you to solve this problem in a range of ways, the success of which depends on the situation.

In what cases is activation required?

SIM activation is a procedure designed to increase the protection of a smartphone through an existing Mi account. The need to perform this operation arises when a corresponding message appears indicating that an activation error has occurred.

There are several reasons for such an error to appear on the display:

    • Since such messages are sent through operators from other countries, incoming foreign messages may be blocked, which can be resolved by calling the operator’s support service;
    • Software bugs and errors in the current installed version of the firmware or operating system, as well as errors that occur when using two active SIM cards at the same time. In most cases, we are talking about the presence of a “local” Chinese version of the firmware installed on the phone, which has only been Russified. In such cases, the problem is easily solved by flashing the firmware;
    • Incorrect reading of the mobile number or incorrect entry by the user.

    Activation methods

In addition to carrying out complex and time-consuming operations with flashing MIUI from a local to a global version or updating the Android OS to the latest, there is a short list of possible ways to solve the problem, one of which will definitely activate the SIM card from Xiaomi:

    • Change the interface language to English by first logging out of your Mi account and then logging in again. It is recommended to restart the smartphone, and then, after waiting for the SIM card to be activated, return the language to the usual one;
    • Activate manually by logging into your account on account.xiaomi.com and then entering the number in the settings menu. After this, you should wait for the confirmation code for the entered number and complete the process;
    • If the number is incorrectly determined and a message appears about the unsuccessful sending of the message, the solution is to press the “Repeat” button several times (from 2 to 4) and then, again, manually enter the number, which allows you to successfully complete the SIM card activation procedure.

The problem of activating a SIM card on Xiaomi smartphones is quite common. It often occurs as a result of users registering via email and not specifying a phone number or entering it incorrectly.

In this article we will look at several ways to solve this issue.

Method No. 1 - activating a SIM card on the website

This is the simplest method, but it does not always help. Go to the official website https://account.xiaomi.com, enter your username and password for your Mi account there. In the “Security” tab, you need to specify a phone number, or correct an existing one if it is entered incorrectly. Click “Change” and a message with a confirmation code will be sent to your number. You indicate it on the website and you’re done.

Method number 2 - entering the number manually

The failure may occur due to a number identification error. When a SIM activation error notification appears, click on it and see a message about an unsuccessful attempt to send an SMS.

Click on the “Repeat” button 3-4 times and a window should open to enter your phone number - enter yours and you’re done.

Method number 3 - change the interface language to English

A fairly common problem with older firmware versions is the inability to activate a SIM card in Russian. Therefore, try changing the system language to English. The procedure is as follows:

In some cases, after these manipulations, you may need to restart your smartphone.

Method No. 4 - activation through a mobile operator

Typically, a SIM card is activated by sending a system message to another country. Telecom operators often block such SMS, so you should call the support service and find out if the messages on your number are blocked. Make sure you have money in your account as shipping is not free.

If messages from your number are not sent at all, then you need to enter the SMS center number in the settings. This is done as follows:

    For MIUI 8

Settings > System applications > Messages > Advanced > Short Message Service (SMSC)

    For MIUI 9

Settings > System applications > Messages > Advanced settings > SMS center number

Here we select the desired SIM card (if you have 2 of them) and indicate the number:

    • Yota - +79585370690
    • Beeline - +79037011111
    • MTS - +79168999100
    • Megaphone - +79202909090
    • Tele2 - +79043490000

    If all else fails

If you tried all the methods and nothing helped, you should check the firmware for updates. Some versions may have errors, so it is better to install a newer one that has bugs and shortcomings fixed. If this does not help, contact the service center or mobile operator office.

Some owners of Xiaomi smartphones sometimes encounter the problem of a forgotten or lost password for the mi account entered on their device. There are a lot of different reasons why this happens, we will not consider them now, this is not the essence of our question. You can reset the activation lock on Xiaomi phones by contacting support, going through certain verification steps, and exchanging letters with the administration. All this ultimately leads to a positive result, as a rule, but it takes a very long time, during which it is not possible to use the device.

What to do if you need the device here and now? Nowadays, we are becoming more and more dependent on our gadgets, unfortunately. It is in this situation that the following article will help us, instructions on how to activate Xiaomi by bypassing your account or how to use the device while your request is being considered by the support service.

This article describes the process of bypassing activation on a Redmi Note 3 Pro device with MIUI 8 version; most likely it will be suitable for other Xiaomi devices with a similar version.

    1. And so, when turned on, we are greeted by the inscription miui8. Click on the arrow in the circle and proceed to activation.
    2. On the second screen, select English - this is important.

    3. Next, you can select any country

    4. Next, a window opens asking you to familiarize yourself with the security policy. At this stage we need to have an Internet connection. You can do this by simply inserting an active SIM card with the Internet, or go a little further to connect to the WiFi network, connect to it and return again to this window. Why, you will understand for yourself.

    5. Now select the Privacy Policy item and get into the next pop-up window.

    6. Next, select a small piece of text anywhere. An additional menu appears. Select 3 vertical points on the right.

    7. In the following menu items, select Web Search.

    8. A pop-up window appears asking you to select a program to search for. Select Google App.

    9. The Google application opens, in the search bar of which we type the word Settings in English. After which the familiar Settings icon appears. Click on it and get to the smartphone settings menu.

    10. At the very bottom we find the About Phone item and go into it.

    11. Opposite the Miui version item, tap several times (about 5 times) on the inscription with the version of our MIUI (in our case it is MIUI Global 8.5 | Stable 8.5.7.0.) until a notification appears that we have become Developers.

    12. We go back to the main settings menu, go to the Additional Settings item.

    13. Next is the Developer options item and... There’s a small bummer, the developer options are not available. But it's okay, let's move on.

    14. We return again to the main window and select the Second Space item. Here we create a second space inside the smartphone. Click the Turn on second space button.

    15. A second space is created and a full desktop is loaded. In principle, we could stop here, since in this form we can already use a smartphone and everything we need is available to us. But only until the first reboot, after which the process will have to be repeated again. It's not entirely convenient. We want everything to be beautiful.

    16. To do this, in the second space, go to Settings and, just like before, in the About Phone item, enable the developer menu.
    17. We go to Additional Settings, then to Developer Options and see that the developer menu items are available to us.

    18. Turn on the switch next to the USB Debugging menu item and press the Ok button in the pop-up request window.

    19. Unfortunately, here we will not be able to use debugging, since in modern Android we need to go through authorization of the devices from which it is allowed to be carried out. Let's move on.
    20. We return to the home screen of our second space. We insert the USB cable into the smartphone and connect it to the computer. And click the Switch icon to return to the main space.

    21. At this stage, if your computer has programs that work with Android, such as: Hi Suite for Huawei, or Mi PC Suite for Xiaomi or Mobogenie (I do not recommend using it, only in extreme cases), then the following pop-up window will appear on the smartphone screen with a request for permission to debug via USB from our connected computer. Click on the Ok button.

    22. If there are no programs listed above, first download the software called Minimal Adb and Fastboot, install it and run it. The normal command line interface will appear. Now, when going to the first space in the previous step, type the command adb devices and press enter. If everything was done correctly and all drivers are installed on the computer, a window should appear asking for USB debugging.
    23. Now the most important thing. Enter the following command on the command line (it is better to use the same Minimal Adb and Fastboot) -
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.xiaomi.finddevice
and delete the find my phone application, which launches upon activation.

Now, after rebooting the device, we can bypass the MI account password request and go through the entire activation process. You can also use the Internet and the device will not be blocked. The only negative is that all services are from Xiaomi such as mi cloud, etc. will become unavailable.

But there is a second way to bypass mi account activation and install custom firmware, which we will describe in the second part of the article.

    Paul
My iPhone 5s worked great. I changed the SIM card and reset the iPhone, after which the error “SIM card is invalid” appeared. The problem repeats with different cards, the phone does not want to go through activation.

    Hello, Pavel.

The problem is quite common; Apple is aware of the possibility of its occurrence and recommends following a certain sequence of actions.

    1. Make sure that the SIM card is not blocked, is activated and has an active tariff plan.

    2. Update your iPhone to the latest available version of iOS.

    3. Enable Airplane mode on your device and turn it off after 10 seconds.

    4. Restart iPhone.

    5. Check that the SIM card is installed correctly.

    6. Restore firmware on iPhone via iTunes.

    If it doesn't help

This error often occurs during iPhone activation or after updating the firmware on the device. It can appear in one of three cases:

    1. The SIM card itself has failed

    Yes, this happens.

It’s very easy to check: we insert the problematic card into another device and/or another card into this iPhone and the version with the SIM card not working will disappear.

    2. The SIM card receiver has failed

Sometimes this happens while using the iPhone, especially for those who often change cards on the device.

If, before activation, the iPhone displays a cellular network indicator and the problem itself arose during activation or flashing, most likely the problem is not with the SIM card receiver.

    3. iPhone is locked to another operator

Oddly enough, this is most often the cause of the error. The smartphone was brought from another country and was locked to a local operator.

For use with domestic SIM cards, special devices called Turbo-SIM. This is a miniature board installed in the SIM card tray. It helps activate a locked iPhone on any SIM card.

It could have been inadvertently removed along with the SIM card with which the iPhone worked.

If there was no Turbo-SIM, it is not a fact that the smartphone is officially unlocked. It could have been unlocked in a non-official way.

There are ways to enter smartphone data into the operator’s database, allowing the device to work with the SIM card installed at the time of unlocking; when you change the card, such unlocking is lost.

Almost all manufacturers of modern mobile devices and software for these devices strive to create not only a high-quality product in the form of a set of hardware components and software, but also their own ecosystem that provides users with various additional capabilities in the form of services and applications. Well-known manufacturers, and among them, of course, the Chinese company Xiaomi with its MIUI firmware, have achieved great success in this field.

Let's talk about a kind of pass into the Xiaomi ecosystem - Mi Account. This “key” to the fascinating world of applications and services will certainly be needed by every user of one or more manufacturer’s devices, as well as by everyone who prefers to use MIUI firmware on their Android device as the OS. Below it will become clear why this statement is true.

After creating an MI account and linking any device running MIUI to it, a number of options become available to the user. These include weekly updates to the operating system, Mi Cloud cloud storage for backing up and synchronizing user data, the Mi Talk service for messaging with other users of Xiaomi products, the ability to use themes, wallpapers, sounds from the manufacturer’s branded store and much more.

    Creating a Mi Account

Before receiving all the above benefits, a Mi Account must be created and added to the device. This is not difficult to do. To gain access, you only need an email address and/or mobile phone number. Registering an account can be done in more than one way; let’s look at them in detail.

    Method 1: Xiaomi Official Website

Probably the most convenient way to register and set up an MI Account is to use the dedicated web page on the official Xiaomi website. To gain access, you need to follow the link:

After downloading the resource, we decide on the method by which access to the benefits of the service will be provided. The user's mailbox name and/or mobile number can be used as a login for the MI Account.

    Option 1: Email

Registering using a mailbox is the fastest way to join the Xiaomi ecosystem. It only takes three simple steps.

    Option 2: Phone number

    Method 2: Device running MIUI

Of course, using a computer and browser is not necessary to register a Xiaomi account. You can register a Mi account the first time you turn on any device from the manufacturer, as well as those devices from other brands that have custom MIUI firmware installed. Each new user receives an appropriate invitation during the initial setup of the device.

If this feature has not been used, you can call up the screen with the function of creating and adding an MI account by following the path "Settings"- chapter "Accounts" - "Mi account".

    Option 1: Email

As in the case of registration through the website, the procedure for creating a Mi Account using the built-in MIUI tools and mailbox is very fast, in just three steps.

    Option 2: Phone number

As in the previous method, to register an account you will need a screen displayed in one of the steps of initially setting up a device running MIUI upon first launch or called up along the way "Settings"- chapter "Accounts" - "Mi account".

    Rules for using Mi Account

In order for the use of Xiaomi services to bring only benefit and pleasure, you must follow a few simple rules, which, however, are also applicable for many other cloud services intended for use on mobile devices!

And/or email [email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected]

    Refusal to use Xiaomi services

It may happen, for example, when switching to devices of another brand that the user no longer needs an account in the Xiaomi ecosystem. In this case, you can completely delete it along with the data it contains. The manufacturer provides its users with ample opportunities to manipulate the software of its devices, and deleting Mi Account should not cause any difficulties. The following should be taken into account.

Attention! Before completely deleting your account, you must unlink from it all devices on which the account has ever been used! Otherwise, such devices may be blocked, which will make their further operation impossible!

    Step 1: Unpair the device

Once again, this is a mandatory procedure before completely deleting your account. Before proceeding with the unlinking procedure, you need to remember that all data synchronized with the device, for example, contacts, can be deleted from the device, so you must first take care of saving the information in another location.

Step 2: Delete your account and all data

So, let's move on to the final stage - complete and irrevocable deletion of the Xiaomi account and the data contained in the cloud storage.

    Conclusion

This way you can quickly register an account in the Xiaomi ecosystem. It is recommended to carry out the procedure in advance, even if the device is only intended to be purchased or is expected to be delivered from an online store. This will allow you, as soon as you have the device in your hands, to immediately begin exploring all the wonderful opportunities that Mi services give their user. If you need to delete your MI Account, the procedure should also not cause difficulties, it is only important to follow simple rules.
