    Review of teXet TM-4083

    Very, very bad phone. Don’t even think about buying - there are more problems than imaginary advantages. The first is glitches with sound immediately after purchase, the speaker wheezes, sometimes the sound disappears completely, the quality of reproduction even through headphones is terrible, it is impossible to listen to music. Secondly, it glitches and freezes, and sometimes it suddenly decides to reboot itself. Third, the battery is complete rubbish, it doesn’t last even a day in a more or less active mode and takes a very long time to charge. Fourth - the “shockproof” phone fell out of my hands onto the tile (about 1.5 meters high), turned off, and stubbornly refuses to show any signs of life at all, although visually the case is absolutely intact. Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish! After a month of operation, I passionately want to check what is more shockproof - this sub-phone, or the skull of its creators, and it seems to me that the creators will win, because if there is at least something in the head, it is simply impossible to create such a mess!

    How to flash Texet?

    When you have problems with the operating system on your computer, when it starts to work slower or various types of errors often appear, the simplest thing you can do to solve the problem is to reinstall the system. The same rule applies to tablet computers. However, in this case we are talking about the so-called tablet firmware. In this article we will tell you how to flash a texet tablet using various updates.

    There are two types of firmware for tablets:

    • official, released by the manufacturer. Such firmware is a kind of system update. You can download them on the official website of the manufacturer;
    • unofficial, or custom, which are developed on the basis of official firmware, but with various kinds of significant additions and changes. Such firmware is released by third-party developers. We warn you in advance that if you use unofficial firmware, you risk losing the warranty for the repair of your tablet. So think twice before? than changing the original firmware to custom one.

    The teXet brand is produced by a Russian company. It appeared on the market in 2004. Before it, the company produced products under the Alkotel brand. teXet companies operate on the Android operating system.

    You can update your existing software in two ways:

    1. by visiting the official website of the developer (Android company) and downloading the latest version of the software from there;
    2. by going to the Settings menu - Device information - Software update and clicking the Update button.

    In both cases, you need the tablet to be connected to the Internet via 3G, 4G, LTE or a wireless Wi-Fi network.

    If this option does not suit you, you can install the firmware using a special program for flashing tablets. Using such programs, you can install both official and custom firmware.

    Installation instructions

    Attention! Before you begin, back up your operating system so you don't lose any important data.

    To install the firmware, follow these steps:

    1. Download to your PC or laptop the drivers for the tablet, the firmware files you want to install, and a special program for flashing the firmware on the tablet (we will look at the procedure for flashing the firmware using the Phoenix USB program).
    2. Turn off the tablet and connect the USB cable to it.
    3. Launch the Phoenix USB program and through the SelectImg menu select the firmware file that you plan to install.
    4. Press and hold the volume up button on the tablet and at the same time connect the other end of the USB cable to the computer.
    5. While continuing to hold the Volume Up button, quickly press the Power button 5-7 times.
    6. The operating system on your computer will detect the new device. You will need to install drivers for the tablet and reconnect it via a USB cable.
    7. Next you will need to do some formatting. Click Yes twice.
    8. Wait for the firmware installation to complete.

    While installing the firmware, do not interrupt the process or remove the USB cable! This may cause serious damage to your tablet.

    We have known a company like teXet on the market of various electronic devices for a long time. This is a Russian enterprise calling itself “Alcotel Electronic Systems”, which since 2004 has been producing various players, electronic “readers”, car recorders, GPS systems and other gadgets that significantly help us in everyday life. Since the company is focused primarily on the CIS market, its price segment can be called “below average”.

    Recently (literally a few years) the company began to produce This was due to the growing popularity of such devices and their real wave of deliveries from China. Having inexpensive equipment and economical assembly, teXet devices were able to give the “Chinese” worthy competition.

    We will talk about one of the computers in this article. Meet the teXet TM-7025 model. Read on to find out what this gadget is and what target audience it is primarily aimed at.

    Positioning

    Perhaps we should start with a description of the concept of the device, its characteristics compared to other devices of the company and, in general, its belonging to the price segment. Thus, the teXet TM-7025 version is framed in a metal case, despite its low cost (only 6 thousand rubles). The tablet operates on Android 4.0.1, which makes it an almost universal electronic device capable of performing the functions of a “reader”, a gadget for surfing the Internet, a device for interacting with “toys” and much more.

    Another interesting feature that the manufacturer mentions in the description of the gadget is the presence of a 3D screen capable of high-quality reproduction of three-dimensional graphics. Read on to find out what this means for the average user.

    Device kit

    First of all, we look at the set in which the device is offered to the buyer: what the standard set includes and which of its elements will be really useful to all of us (teXet TM-7025 users). In addition to the computer itself, it should be noted a charging adapter, headphones, a cord for connecting to a PC, as well as a connector for connecting to flash memory cards. The latter is especially convenient in that it simplifies the process of transmitting information, making it accessible without a computer.

    Many users note that they also do not quite understand the meaning of packing both a full-fledged charger and a cord for connecting to a PC. In practice, the teXet TM-7025 could have an adapter for connecting to the network and a portable micro-USB cable; this would be much more economical and convenient.

    Another element that we found included with the tablet is a leather “smart cover” case. In its design, at least, it really closely resembles the kind of cases that can be found on Apple devices. True, as user reviews indicate, although the accessory looks good, the tablet itself constantly falls out of it due to an insufficiently strong fastening mechanism.

    Device design

    The next point that I would like to draw attention to is the appearance of the device, its design. True, the TM-7025 has a very simplified, “classic” design, like many 7-inch devices from Chinese manufacturers. However, some of the simpler Samsung ones also have this appearance. The Russian company distinguished itself somewhat and presented its model in a case with thicker frames. Due to this, the device looks a little less attractive than it could. And in general, judging by the dimensions, we can say that the device is clearly devoid of any sophistication and elegance. Although this does not make it any less interesting.

    Its developers approached the issue of device design in a rather original way. So, they placed the tablet's navigation elements in an interesting way, completely abandoning the generally accepted model (audio jack on the top panel, sound adjustment on the top right, power connector on the bottom). So, absolutely all functional holes were placed on the lower part of the case, which looks somewhat strange. The second point is the location of the screen lock button and the “rocker” for changing the sound level - these elements were installed on the right side of the case in the lower segment. It turns out that the left side and top of the device are left empty.

    The buttons on the front of the case can be called superfluous (they completely duplicate the same system keys from Android, located just above). The manufacturer installed the camera at the bottom, which forces you to turn the device over every time you want to use video communication services.

    The back cover is presented in beautiful metal, which is very pleasant to the touch and fits perfectly in the hands.

    Display

    Despite the developers' emphasis on the fact that the device's screen has a 3D display function, in general the display installed on the teXet TM-7025 tablet is also its weak point. You can tell by looking at the screen resolution. It is only 800 by 480 pixels! This means that in conditions of high lighting levels, all pixels simply fade, making it impossible to see in more detail what is shown on the screen.

    In addition, there is not enough sharpness of the image, which we usually expect from touch electronic devices. Therefore, the characteristics describing the teXet TM-7025 (in terms of display) slightly distance it from other representatives of the segment (including inexpensive Chinese gadgets, the screen of which is much better). The pixel density here is very low: you can view the same 3D content here, but this is of very little use to the user, since the picture will still not be sharp enough for him.

    CPU

    Drawing a parallel with how the characteristics of the teXet TM-7025 described the screen of the device, we can say that the “heart” of the gadget - its processor - also does not have the most impressive parameters. Let's start with the fact that we are dealing with a processor whose clock frequency is 1 GHz.

    With 512 MB of RAM, the system allows the user to enjoy some simple yet entertaining games and play videos. The downside of the device is that the teXet TM-7025 tablet computer will not be able to provide you with proper work with expensive (in terms of graphics) toys that were aimed at more powerful devices. And the RAM, again, is greatly reduced here. It is possible that at the beginning of use the tablet will work quickly, but over time, apparently, delays may begin even when working with the menu and when performing the simplest operations. This situation occurs with all gadgets that have a small amount of RAM.

    operating system

    As noted above, the device is offered with Android OS version 4.0.1. This is a fairly old modification, which, naturally, has much fewer capabilities than the modern 6th generation system (current at the time of writing). However, given that we are talking about a cheap tablet from a Russian manufacturer, it is obvious that it will not be possible to upgrade to a more recent build.

    And in fact, many users, judging by the reviews, are interested in this. On the Internet, in many electronics forums, there are questions about how to flash teXet TM-7025. This information may be of interest to users for various reasons: some are not satisfied with the standard interface of the system, while others, for example, simply want to get rid of some error that arose during the operation of the device.

    In fact, this happens quite often with the teXet TM-7025. The firmware, as reviews show, really helps fix the problem and returns everything to the original settings. But at the same time, there is a real risk that the user will not be able to properly install the new firmware version, due to which he will not only lose the warranty on his device, but will also not be able to work with it in the future.

    Various electronic forums and websites dedicated to mobile systems have more detailed information about teXet TM-7025.

    The main thing here is not so much the actions of the device owner himself, but the correctly selected files with which you want

    For example, while searching for information on this topic, we were able to find several different versions of the CyanogenMode software. It operates on the Android system, but has only a few features.

    In general, firmware is useful in many ways. For example, on forums, users note that in the “native” firmware the tablet did not recognize revolutions. When tilted, the device did not respond to changes in position, which is why the user would be forced to change the screen orientation using a special application. Immediately after the gadget was flashed, he began to “notice” the revolution. There are a lot of such stories: people are satisfied with how the system has changed after its update. Another situation is if your teXet TM-7025 does not boot. It happens that in the event of some software failure, the device refuses to function without changing its “black screen” on the display. The way out of this situation is very simple: perform a flashing.

    Another example is installing another operating system. This, of course, may seem completely absurd (and wild) to some, but judging by the reviews, some users were able to reproduce a Windows system on their teXet TM-7025, which completely changed the functionality of the device and its capabilities. This shows that those who understand portable electronics can experiment with technology in different ways, achieving different results.

    Since this is not the topic of the article in which we describe the teXet TM-7025 tablet, the firmware is a somewhat minor issue, so we will not pay so much attention to it.

    The original version has classic Android, which you could see on older devices.

    Connection

    While describing the teXet TM-7025 tablet, the characteristics of which are the topic of our review, we can also draw attention to the communication capabilities that it has thanks to pre-installed modules. Considering the budget nature of the device, we are not talking about the ability to connect SIM cards (3G/LTE is absent here, the gadget can only work with the Internet using a Wi-Fi module), or about any kind of navigation system (GPS is not here).

    Probably, the manufacturers did not rely on this, making a somewhat “stripped-down” (in terms of functionality) version of the tablet. However, as the reviews describing teXet TM-7025 show, many users are satisfied with what they have. Apparently, it’s all about the purpose for which such a tablet is purchased: for a child’s school, for basic Internet browsing, for reading books, and so on. In all these cases, such a simple modification of the tablet computer is ideal. Especially for such and such a price!

    Applications

    Speaking about the OS, I would also like to address what programs are available to the user on this device. In addition to standard Google applications, we can mention social networking programs installed by the manufacturer, some entertainment services, tools for checking the speed of the device, programs for watching television, and so on. Obviously, the manufacturer was generously sponsored by the developers of all these programs, which was the reason for such a variety of software. If you wish, you can delete all this, filling the space on the device with your favorite applications.

    Autonomy

    If we are talking about any gadget, the most important issue remains the topic of its autonomy and rate of charge consumption. The hero of our review is no exception. Considering its “budget” nature, it is not surprising that it does not have the most capacious battery - only 3100 mAh.

    For some smartphone this volume would seem suitable, but not for an entire tablet. The consumption rate here is also not the lowest (apparently, the screen makes itself felt), which is why, according to information from reviews, the charge will last for no more than 4-5 hours of watching movies. As you understand, this is enough, perhaps for working with the gadget on the road between home and work, followed by charging the device.

    You could increase the “lifespan” of the device using portable batteries, if this option is acceptable to you. However, another point is that a more or less decent power bank with a suitable capacity will cost as much as half of our tablet. Perhaps in this case it makes more sense to simply add this money together and choose a more expensive device.

    Most Android users are interested in flashing tablets for many reasons: they need to update the system or have a desire, or to return the device to working condition.

    Many people are not satisfied with the standard firmware on Texet TM7866

    Be that as it may, the process itself is quite simple, but differs depending on the manufacturer. We will look at how the firmware for Texet TM7866 and other brand models is performed, and how to do everything correctly so as not to harm the device.

    What is needed to flash a Texet tablet?

    First of all, let's find out what is needed to perform such an operation. Texet TM firmware is done using the following tools:

    • Charged battery - it is best that it is full, or has a reserve of at least 50%;
    • Computer - it will be used to flash the firmware;
    • The PhoenixSuit program, through which the software is replaced - download and install it on your computer;
    • Directly - the file with it must also be first downloaded and saved on a PC;
    • Where can I get the firmware and the program to install it? It is best to look for them on the official website of the manufacturer Texet, focusing on the series marked with the letters TM. Files for replacement software are located in the “Support” section, then select “Downloads”;
    • In the window that opens, you can find files with the program and the new Android image, but carefully check the serial number of your device to download the appropriate archive with the software.

    So, when you have downloaded everything, install PhoenixSuit this way:

    • Open the installer, click “Next”;
    • Windows will notify you that you need to install a driver, but it is unverified - confirm its download anyway;
    • After confirming the remaining points, it will happen, at the end click “Done” and close the window.

    You have now installed PhoenixSuit, a standalone program designed to replace firmware on Texet TM products.

    How to flash a Texet tablet?

    Flashing the Texet TM7024 tablet and other models is performed using the following steps:

    1. Again, make sure that the gadget is sufficiently charged and open PhoenixSuit;
    2. Click on the Firmware section;
    3. In the window that opens, specify the path to the file with the system image in the Image line;
    4. If the tablet was turned on, turn it off and press the Home key;
    5. via USB by pressing the above key until a message appears with the text “Tips: Does mandatory format?”;
    6. Answer the question in the affirmative, after which the software replacement will begin - you will be able to observe the process directly in the application;
    7. After the process is completed, the message “Upgrade Firmware Succeed” will appear - just click OK.

    You can now disconnect the device and turn it on. By the way, loading will seem a little slow. This only happens at first, because the device is launched for the first time with new software.

    There is a method for software recovery of electronic books - portable media players. The method works on books from Effire, Ritmix, Texet, Teclast and others made in China. These books have a common feature - they are equipped with a large LCD screen, sometimes touch screen, reproduce all video and audio formats, and have a built-in reader. Typically, such books are made on F15, F10, SC9800 (Sochip 9800), T8100 chipsets. It has its own operating system, although sellers often lie when talking about installed Android or Meego.

    DO EVERYTHING AT YOUR OWN RISK!

    Now about restoring the book - if you have the firmware for your book, then half the job is done (you can download it on your product’s support page). Typically, such books are flashed through the LiveSuite program - it usually comes with the firmware and runs under Windows XP (I flashed it specifically for XP). In the program you need to select the firmware and click on start. If the program did not see the book, then you need to do this (I had a broken TEXET TB-710HD):

    The standard instructions are simple (use either the one in, if something goes wrong try this one, but it didn’t help me)

    • open LiveSuite and select the firmware file, click on start, agree to complete formatting of the book
    • the program will say that the device is not connected - this is normal
    • disconnect the usb cable
    • press and hold the power button on the book for 10 seconds
    • Without releasing the button, insert the USB cable into the book and after 2 seconds release the button
    • LiveSuite will display a message about formatting - answer YES
    • In 3-4 minutes the firmware will be loaded into the device and it will work

    That's the essence! I sewed like this! The book was cut off when I accidentally pulled out the USB cable while installing the firmware.

    In the most severe cases, short-circuiting the legs of the memory chip helps, but this is already aerobatics (although not so difficult) and it is better to leave the book in the hands of professional repairmen.

    If you still want to restore the book yourself using the second method, then here’s how I did it using the Texet TB-710HD as an example:

    • launched LiveSuite, selected the firmware, clicked on update, agreed that the device was not connected, and left the program waiting
    • unscrewed the book (a couple of screws at the bottom, then move the lid up)
    • I found the chip shown in the picture
    • I closed the 6th and 7th pins of the microcircuit with a needle
    • Without releasing the needle from the contacts of the microcircuit, I connected the book to the computer with a USB cable
    • then the program wanted a driver (without releasing the needle with one hand, I indicated the folder with the driver (the UsbDriver folder was included with the firmware)
    • when the program says something about formatting, answer yes (a window will pop up several times) and remove the needle from the contacts - the firmware will begin

    A caveat: if you short-circuit the wrong legs, the memory may burn out. So you do everything at your own peril and risk. I wasted everything - it went away)
