• Windows 10 laptop acceleration program. Making the system visually lighter. Video: how to remove viruses using an antivirus

Booting the Windows 10 operating system is like being on the road - if there are too many cars, sooner or later a traffic jam will form. Therefore, you need to know how to speed up Windows 10 startup.

    Autoload

When installing programs on Windows 10, you don’t even pay attention to when they start loading. Messengers, drivers and much more are loaded with your operating system, and you don’t even notice it. And you only feel how time increases - and this is annoying. You need to get used to controlling startup and learn how to clean it:

    Quick start

How to speed up Windows 10 loading when you turn on your PC? Activate fast startup:

    Disk Cleanup

To speed up the loading of Windows 10 on a laptop or personal computer, you need to regularly clean the system disk. A huge amount of garbage that accumulates in folders significantly slows down work. So, to speed up the process, follow these steps:

    • Find the “My Computer” (“This PC”) icon on your desktop. If it's not there, add it using personalization:

Right mouse button on the desktop - personalization

Themes section and scroll to Worker parameters

Click on change desktop icons and check the box.

    Defragmentation

Another way to speed up Windows 10 loading on a laptop or PC. All files are written to the hard drive not entirely, but in parts. And these pieces can be scattered throughout the hard drive. This also takes time. Defragmentation allows you to organize the recording scheme, this will speed up Windows.

    Replacing HDD with SSD

Another way to speed up Windows 10 loading on a laptop is to replace the regular HDD with an SSD.

SSD solid state drives are much faster than a regular hard drive. They are not yet very common, but everyone already knows that the download speed from such a hard drive increases significantly.

    Good day everyone!

In Windows 10, unlike previous operating systems, a special gaming mode has appeared (it is designed to improve computer performance in games). I note that you can find this “thing” in a version no lower than Windows 10 Creators Update...

Because I quite often receive questions regarding games (and problems with them), I think that a note on how to enable this mode and how to use it would be very helpful. Moreover, in some cases, using the game mode it is possible to increase the number of FPS by 10-15%! (just a few clicks of the mouse (without doing anything else), agree, useful?!).

In addition to this article, I highly recommend reading this one: (it lists the main reasons why games can slow down, even on new powerful PCs).

    Now to the point...

    Enabling Game Mode

And so, first you need to open Windows settings (you can use START, as in the screenshot below, or you can use the Win+i button combination).

Then go to the "Game Mode" tab. Here you need to check that it is enabled and supported (as in the example below). If you have Windows version 1703 or 1709, then you will have a switch that should be turned on.

Add your game to the list of applications (the "Browse" button), and then set its settings to high performance (example below). This is especially true if you have 2 video cards (integrated and discrete) - this way the game will run on the discrete card.

Well, the last point that needs to be checked and configured is the game menu. By default, the buttons to call this menu Win+G(but you can specify your own). It allows you to enable game mode, take screenshots, record videos, enable broadcasts, etc.

    How to use Game Mode

Very simple! Launch some game and press the Win+G button combination (or the ones you specified in the previous step).

You should see a small panel appear at the bottom of the screen. On its right side there will be a button to turn on the game mode - just click on it (number 2 in the screenshot below).

    In general, it’s that simple!

Personal notes on whether the game is worth the candle:

    1. The game mode does not always increase the number of FPS (but in general, it has a positive effect: some half-second freezes may disappear during dynamic episodes of the game, for example);
    2. if you have a powerful gaming PC (laptop) and no programs other than the game are running, then the game mode will have virtually no effect on performance;
    3. if you have a budget device (for example, only with an integrated video card), then the game mode can increase the number of FPS by 10-15%;
    4. game mode can significantly speed up the game if you have many processes running, some third-party programs, etc.;
    5. when you exit the game, this mode will be automatically stopped (there is no need to do this manually all the time).

What else to pay attention to:

    1) About Turbo Boost

If you have a modern laptop with an Intel i3, i5, i7 processor, then it does not always work at its full performance. The fact is that in order to save battery power, Turbo Boost technology is not always used (note: processor self-overclocking*) . To check if it works for you and how to enable it, check out this material:

    2) About FPS

To increase the number of FPS in a game, the game mode alone is often not enough. For example, in addition to this, you can configure the video card driver, the game itself accordingly, remove excess garbage from the system (and other actions) - and, as a result, get an increase of 30-40% (sometimes more!).

All these actions are described in the article "How to increase FPS: methods from a gamer" -

Additions on the topic are welcome...

    Happy gaming!

After installing the new Windows 10 operating system, users often wonder why the laptop slows down? There are many reasons for this: from a banal lack of RAM to a virus attack on the system. However, in any case, the performance of a Windows 10 laptop can be changed. To do this, just perform a few simple manipulations, first creating a system restore point.

Optimizing Windows 10 performance by installing the correct software

If you are interested in the question of how to speed up a laptop with Windows 10, then first of all, before making drastic decisions, you need to check that the drivers are installed correctly. Often, missing or non-original drivers slow down the system boot.

To check, you should perform the following steps:

    • Right-click on the “Start” button. Select "Device Manager".
    • A new window will open. Open the branch for each device and see if there is a yellow icon.

    • Then right-click on the device name and select “Properties”. Next, go to the “Driver” tab and click “Details”.

    • It is worth checking the originality of the driver. If it is not there, then you need to download it from the manufacturer’s official website. If there is no software compatible with Windows 10, the system itself will download and install the universal Microsoft driver.

Speeding up a laptop by disabling UAS

System slowdown may be caused by User Account Control. Its work can be stopped. This will not affect the security of the system. Therefore, we do the following:

    • Right-click on the Start icon and select Control Panel. Go to the “User Accounts” section.

    • In the menu on the left, select “Manage user profiles.” In the main part of the window, click on the “Change User Account Control Settings” link.

    • A new window will open. We convert the “High” level to “Low”.

Adjusting Power Settings as an Optimization Method

On a laptop with Windows 10, each user can independently select the power mode. The speed of the system also depends on this mode. Therefore, the following setting will be optimal:

    • Go to the “Control Panel”. Select the “Small Icons” view mode. Click “Power Options”.

    • Set the "High Performance" checkbox.

    Editing system startup

    • Press “Win+R” and enter “msconfig”.

    • Go to the “Startup” tab and disable unnecessary programs.

If you don't use cloud storage or programs to manage printers and scanners, you should disable them too. Disabling them will have a positive effect on the performance of a Windows 10 laptop.

Setting up graphic and sound effects as a way to optimize

You can speed up Windows 10 by freeing up your desktop. First, remove shortcuts and programs themselves that are not used. Personal files and folders should be transferred to local drive D. Next steps will be as follows:

    • Turn off visual effects. Right-click on the “Start” icon and select “System”. Next on the left is “Advanced system settings”. In the “Advanced” tab, in the “Performance” section, click “Options”.

    • If you check “Ensure the best performance” in the new window, all visual effects will be disabled on Windows 10. Therefore, we recommend selecting “Special effects” and specifying only the necessary ones.

In addition to graphic effects, which can increase system boot time, it is worth paying attention to sound effects. To turn off the sound, do the following:

    • Go to “Control Panel”, select “Sound”.
    • A new window will open. In the “Sounds” tab, select the “Silent” scheme.

IMPORTANT! With this action you do not turn off the sound, but only remove sounds during messages and other actions.

No matter what operating system (OS) comes out of Microsoft, people have always been interested in how to improve its performance. From this article you can learn how to speed up the latest version of the OS - Windows 10, what problems there may be with the speed of tasks and how to fix them.

Reasons why Windows 10 is slow

To find the reasons for the “braking” of the operating system, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive check of the device. If the user manages to find the main reason for the slow operation of Windows, he has every chance of increasing the performance of his PC by 20-30%, especially for older models of laptops and desktop computers.

To check the compliance of the system needs with the device components, assess the load of the processor and hard drive, you must follow the following instructions:

    1. Check the load on the processor. To do this, launch the task manager by simultaneously pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del. In the pop-up window, select the item of the same name, look for the “Performance” tab and estimate the load on the main PC component as a percentage.

Afterwards, by right-clicking on the programs that are currently enabled, you can put them in an inactive state by selecting the “End process” sub-item.

Continued activity of previously closed applications puts a considerable load on the processor, especially if there are many of them. For example, we can take Skype, which does not close like other programs. In addition, it is worth remembering that PC components need to be updated and may wear out, which is why the processor may simply be underpowered to adequately work in Windows 10.

If your computer has 4 gigabytes or less of RAM, you should not install a 64-bit system on it. The fact is that even if you have a 64-bit processor, a small amount of RAM will cause an increased load on the first one. To reduce the load on the most important component of the computer and increase performance, it is recommended to install a 32-bit system, which has a reserve of 4 GB of RAM.

    2. Slow operation of the operating system, constant freezes can be associated with software or mechanical failures of the hard drive. To check the status of the hard drive, we can simply open the “This PC” window using Explorer or a shortcut of the same name on the desktop, and estimate the disk capacity in GB.

From the time you install a new system, it begins to accumulate “garbage”, which is why you need to reinstall Windows, remove your hard drive and other drives, or be careful about the files and applications that you install from the Internet (although unnecessary files in the form of a cache will still accumulate ). Defragmentation can be done independently or using various utilities.

In the picture below you can see that the hard drive and another drive are almost completely full, while the other drive is empty. The best option is to transfer important information from 2 drives to free space and then defragment them. You should also not forget that installing free, hacked programs from the Internet onto the system drive can result not only in the rapid loss of free space, but also in disruption of the operating system.

Also, Windows 10 may slow down due to outdated computer components (including the processor, video card, matrix as a whole, network adapters). In order to update device drivers, you need to right-click on the “Start” icon and follow the path: System - Device Manager. Having reached the last point, we look at the devices for the presence of yellow triangles next to them, which indicate incorrect operation, which is most likely associated with outdated drivers.

Next, double-click on the required element, go to the “Driver” sub-heading and click “Update”. To update, you can use a free search on the Internet or on your computer (if you previously transferred the drivers to a folder on your computer). Users have also created utilities that allow you to update drivers without access to the network, but it is worth considering the fact that most often they take up a lot of disk space.

    Ways to increase system speed

Despite the fact that the developers have tried to optimize the operating system well, many people use budget equipment, which may experience difficulties when working with Windows 10. Let's consider the main reasons for the slow operation of the OS and ways to eliminate them:

    1. Animations and design effects. Of course, in addition to optimization, the developers of Windows 10 also thought about the pleasant appearance of the system, which pleases the eye when a person minimizes, maximizes windows, scrolls through lists, while seeing smooth animation, which has a significant impact on the performance of the OS.

To speed up the interface, you can disable any animation by following this path: Start - Settings - Accessibility - Other options - Play Windows animation. In the last position, switch the toggle switch to “Off.”

    2. Transparent interface. Despite the fact that this version of the Start menu looks nice, the need for speed is much greater. To turn off this option, follow the path: Start - Settings - Personalization - Colors - Make the Start menu, taskbar and notification center transparent - Off.

    3. Special effects. In addition to various animations, the operating system has design effects such as shadows, anti-aliasing, displaying window thumbnails and many others. To disable all special effects that slow down the system, you need to follow the path: Start - Control Panel - System and Security - System - Advanced system settings - Settings - Visual Effects tab. And, having reached the last position in the list, select “Ensure the best performance” in the parameters.

The method described above for speeding up Windows 10 is one of the most effective. Even though the operating system that was released most recently by Microsoft will look like the 1998 version, performance will improve significantly.

    4. Autoload programs when the system starts. As many programs are downloaded and installed on your computer, some of them begin to launch automatically when you turn on the PC, although many are completely unnecessary or lose their relevance over time and may not be used.

To disable startup programs when the system starts, you should launch the task manager (to do this, press the Ctrl, Shift, Esc keys simultaneously), go to the Startup tab and, right-clicking on applications you do not need, select the “Disable” option.

To open the task manager in Windows 10, you can also right-click on the bottom strip of icons on the desktop, called the taskbar, select the “Taskbar” sub-item in it and then follow the above path.

Disabling startup of many unnecessary programs (if any) will help not only improve the performance of the operating system, but also speed up the process of starting up your personal computer.

It is also worth mentioning that the task manager may not display some programs that are still automatically loaded when the PC is turned on and use device resources. In order to fix this, you need to install a special utility (AIDA 64 is the most common, but you can choose another one similar to it).

    Windows 10 Services

This operating system contains many services, each of which has its own task. To configure a computer for each user, it would take a lot of time to configure them, which is why in automatic mode all services would work for each user, including those that the person does not use.

To improve the performance of your computer, you can simply disable those elements that are of no benefit to the PC owner. To get to the Windows 10 service control center, you need to follow this path: right-click on “Start” – Computer Management – Services and Applications – Services. Having reached the last position, we can already exclude those interface elements that we do not need.

But the question immediately arises of which services to disable so as not to disrupt the operation of the computer and increase system performance. List of services that can be disabled:
    • Windows Search. This is a search service that is not without its flaws. If you don't use search, you can safely disable it.
    • Offline files. This interface element is responsible for maintaining a cache of files of the same name and responding to events that occur when the user logs in and out of the system. Disabling this service will improve performance and will not have a negative impact on the operation of the system as a whole.

In addition, Offline Files implement the properties of the common APIs and can send users the collected data that they are interested in (in the area of servicing Offline Files and Common APIs). Common APIs are a set of JavaScript components that are designed to display interactive maps on web pages and applications.

    • IP Ancillary Service. The main task of the service is to provide tunneling technologies for IP version 6 and IP-HTTPS. By disabling this feature, the computer will not be able to use the advanced connectivity features provided by the technology until it is turned back on.
    • Secondary login. Makes it possible to run processes on behalf of other users. When a service is disabled, the specified registration type is no longer available, as are other elements that directly depend on the operation of that interface component.
    • Print Manager. If a person does not have a printer, then the function of interest does not provide. When disabled, the functions of printing and viewing available printer devices are lost.
    • Server. To maintain shared access to files, printers, named pipes for the user's computer over a network connection, this service was created. When you disable it, all the features it provides and the elements that directly depend on it are lost.
    • Image download service. It is responsible for receiving images from a scanner or digital camera, and if you do not use these devices, the function only takes up computer resources.
    • Diagnostic Policy Service. Responsible for detecting various problems, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to the operation of operating system components. Once the service is disabled, diagnostics will not be performed.
    • Program Compatibility Assistant Service. Responsible for maintaining the functioning of the utility of the same name, which is responsible for the compatibility of programs that the user installs with computer software. By disabling the service, we get more performance in exchange for the incorrect operation of the assistant, which will continue to function in the future, but with errors.
    • Remote registry. The service is required to change registry settings on a personal computer by a remote user. When the function is disabled, only local users who work directly with this PC can change the registry. Additionally, services that depend on it stop starting.
    • Security Center. The service is responsible for the functioning of the security system and also draws up protocols on its operation. It monitors the status of the firewall, antivirus, antispyware, operating system updates, Internet settings, and controls user accounts.
