• MIUI firmware for HTC One S. Getting Root HTC One S Htc one s w3bsit3-dns.com firmware

    Some information:

    Device: HTC One S
    Processor: S3
    Codename: VilleC2
    CID:HTC__044
Initially installed: Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean
    HBOOT: 3.01.*

HTC is a very funny and strange company, the actions of which are often very difficult to explain. It is also difficult to explain her inaction. What am I talking about? I'm talking about the end of support for the HTC One S line, and the refusal to release Sense 5 and firmware above 4.1.1 for this device. “Ay-ay-ay, what should we do?” — I thought, and started looking for custom firmware from 4.2 - 4.4.

The solution was found not only quickly, but rather quickly - in the topic of the same name on w3bsit3-dns.com, all the official and custom firmware available at that time were described. There, in the hat, was where I joyfully galloped.

After reading for a while, I first downloaded the ROM of the unofficial CyanogenMod 11 (Android 4.4), and CarbonRom (the same CM, only stylized as you get it). I also took the latest valid Gapps there. In the original topic (the first one named), I took mcOneTools 5.5, merged the original kernel just in case, and wrapped everything up...

I will not describe the breaking procedure in detail. Briefly: despite the fact that mcOneTools during the firmware could not go beyond the SDCARD mounting stage, although it entered the custom recovery (TWRP) normally, both the original cyanogen and CarbonRom installed perfectly. What's wrong? The problem, oddly enough, is in Gapps - when installing the latter, an error appears:

set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed error: status 7

Without thinking twice, but after a lot of googling, I found out that there was a bug in the version of my recovery. In numerous topics on w3bsit3-dns.com and XDA-Developers, many people wrote that the latest version of TWRP is needed, and using it will immediately lead to success. A separate topic was even created for the recovery version with support for Android 4.4, but it did not lead to the desired result.

The result: there is a dead phone on 4.4, which can still boot into the bootloader, there is a set of firmware of all colors and shades (including assorted stock ones), and there is a lot of anal pain from everything that is happening. The stock firmware does not give the desired result even with a full wipe (i.e. wipe of the data, cache, sdkard and system partitions), when turned on normally - the standard HTC screensaver with a red disclaimer at the bottom.

    What to do?

Let me remind you - HBOOT doesn’t give a damn, i.e. There is still hope, and very strong. Also, TWRP recovery has a very cool option to create a backup and restore from it.

Attention! To correctly perceive the text below, you, the reader, must fully understand what it is TWRP how to login bootloader menu on your device and the fact that this instruction does not carry any guarantees - it is only your (perhaps the only) chance to fix your device.

Having all this in hand, let's begin:

    1. Through mcOneTools we load into TWRP(for now it is desirable in 2.3.1.0 )
    2. Go to the menu Wipe, and press all the buttons one by one (first press Factory Reset)
    3. Create a backup from the menu Backup. You can only make a backup of the bootloader - the very presence of it in the file system is important to us
    4. From the menu Mount installing a telephone as a USB stick
    5. On the computer we open the removable disk that appears, on it we find our backup ( TWRP > BACKUPS > ******)
    6. We download the backup we need from the topic on w3bsit3-dns.com (I wrote about it above, in the topic itself there is an item in the header “BACKUPS” > “STOCK FIRMWARE BACKUPS”. At the time I fixed the phone, all the links were working)
    7. Upload the files from the downloaded archive with the firmware to the folder that I marked with asterisks
    8. Unmount the phone using the button Unmount in the same recovery menu
    9. Enter the phone number in bootloader, and load into mcOneTools with a custom recovery TWRP 2.6.3.0(link FOR S3 ONLY)
    10. Go to the menu Restore, and select DOWNLOADED backup, not yours . It can be determined simply - because The name of the backup is the date it was created, then downloaded will much older yours.
    11. We begin restoration. We are waiting. When it ends - don't press on Reboot, go to recovery home page, go to the menu Reboot and select Bootloader. Wait for the phone to boot into bootloader
    12. In the mcOneTools program folder there is a folder tools. Extract the file from the backup archive boot.img , and copy it to this folder
    13. Open command line Windows go to the above folder tools in it: cd "path\to folder\mcOneTools\tools"

      and run the commands:

      Fastboot.exe flash boot boot.img fastboot.exe reboot

If everything is done correctly, you get a working, clean phone. If not, repeat all steps, and pay special attention to step No. 2 - this VERY important.

And the moral is this: you shouldn’t try to achieve much if you’re a noob. Oh, and you have to make backups yourself.

Since the MIUI firmware is not stock for NTS smartphones, installing it is fraught with some difficulties. This can lead to data loss on the NTS smartphone and other unpredictable consequences. Neither Xiaomi nor our website miui.com.ua is responsible for the consequences of your actions. Therefore, be careful and make a complete backup of your data, write down the IMEI of your smartphone and find out the address of the nearest service center

The first important question: You need to determine what processor is in your smartphone. If S3 – then instructions, if S4 – instructions.

But let's hope everything goes well, because... There is nothing complicated in the firmware, it just takes time, attentiveness and perseverance.

The HTC company installs its own add-on to the Android system on its smartphones, called HTC Sense, and has a very negative attitude towards attempts to get root rights, unlock the bootloader and change the shell to something else. Therefore, there will be no easy path.

You must understand that the procedure will take you at least half an hour, so set aside an hour of time in advance so as not to rush and do everything consistently and correctly.

Follow the instructions carefully for your model, written by smart users from the website 4pda.ru, for which we thank them. We only give general recommendations, which also work, oddly enough.

Let's begin. First, let's unlock the bootloader. We will need a computer with Internet and an HTC One S smartphone.

First of all, download and install HTC Sync if it is not installed on your computer.

After unlock bootloader via the HTCdev website

    Then flash CWM Recovery.

    Afterwards we install root rights.

Then, according to some methods, you need to disable S-ON. But since this procedure is not easy, you need to find a way to do without it. For example, this one.

Now let's flash the firmware itself.

    1. Download the current one for HTC One S

    2. Without unpacking the archive, put it in the root of the smartphone’s internal memory.

    3. Boot into recovery

    5. Destroy the data (first you need to copy the files to your computer, and your contacts to Google or NTS, or to your computer using HTC Sync)

    wipe data\factory reset

    wipe cache

    wipe davlic cache

    6. We start the firmware from scratch. Select an item Install zip from sd card

    7. Specify the archive with the firmware and confirm the choice. The installation may take some time. Once the installation is complete, the following message will appear: Install from sd card successfully completed.

If you had another smartphone, this would all be over. But the owners of NTS are not looking for easy ways.

We return to the computer again. Extract the file from the archive with the firmware boot.img and put it in a folder C:/Android

In the recovery menu select Advanced Power Menu and onwards Reboot into bootloader

You should still have the Windows console open. If not, open it again (Start-Run-cmd-Enter-CD C:\Android)

Type the command fastboot flash boot boot.img and press Enter

Select Reboot on your smartphone, and if it boots successfully, MIUI should already be running on it.

If the system performance of your smartphone has deteriorated sharply, do not write off flashing it. To begin with, you can try to optimize the operation of already installed software. Below I will give a small list of recommendations, following which you will significantly improve the performance of your smartphone and reduce battery consumption.

    1. Remove unnecessary programs from startup. Most applications have a startup option in their default settings, and developers, pursuing their goals, activate it. Most users don't even realize how many unnecessary applications are running in the background. You can view a list of all running applications and services using the task manager.
    2. Remove unused apps. You should not store or save just in case programs that you have not used for a long time. Each of these applications has its own distribution in the device’s internal memory, which is best kept clean in order to use system resources. If you do not want to destroy the application for fear of losing settings, achievements, or data that it stores, first synchronize with your Google account. Then, upon re-installation, you will be able to restore all personal data and settings.
    3. Disable “live wallpapers”, desktop widgets, and unnecessary launcher animations. All this graphics significantly loads the device’s processor and unnecessarily consumes battery power. By reducing the amount of graphics used to a minimum, you will not only significantly improve device performance, but also increase battery life.
    4. Install an optimizer program to clean the system of “garbage”. Using the free, pre-installed Play Market service, install the Ccleaner program, which analyzes and cleans the operating system of empty folders, caches, and much more.

As a last resort, if you decide to flash your smartphone’s firmware only because its performance has deteriorated, you can reset the settings to the factory state. In this case, the device’s state will return to the state it was first turned on, without errors, user data, and with only a set of applications preinstalled by the manufacturer.

If you still want to flash your HTC One S smartphone, you need to pay great attention to choosing new firmware. Personally, I advise using unofficial versions of the operating system, as they are most often highly optimized and bring a large number of pleasant changes. Here is a small list of the most popular firmware for the HTC one s smartphone:

    1. "LIBERTY ROM - The Sixth Element". A good, stable operating system based on Android 4.4.x KitKat. Suitable for combined use of a smartphone. A large number of tweaks are preinstalled to optimize the system.
    2. "CyanogenMod 11S". Firmware from a well-known manufacturer of unofficial software for all smartphone models. Excellent performance, smooth animation, a large number of graphics and sound design changes. At its core, this operating system is primarily suitable for those who value high device performance.
    3. "MIUI based". Not the fastest operating system. The system uses almost half of the RAM, but at the same time it is one of the most popular for HTC smartphones. It radically changed the graphics and animation of the OS. There is its own store with a large selection of both paid and free decorations. Everything changes, from icons and standard buttons to the menu for locking the screen.

HTC One S is a Taiwanese smartphone, for which we will tell you how to get root rights, reset the settings or reset the pattern. It runs Android 4.0. Here there are instructions and firmware for this XTC model. By the way, its performance is rated 0 points. This smartphone needs further evaluation...
