• Expanding internal memory on Android. How to increase system memory on Android? Lack of system memory on Android: what to do

    Often, owners of budget smartphones are faced with the problem of a lack of device RAM (RAM). Due to the fact that you, for example, have only 512 MB of RAM, the device simply will not run many applications and games or will slow down during operation.

    In this article we will tell you how to increase RAM on Android and get rid of the need to buy a new smartphone.

    Optimization

    The first step is to “clean” the RAM of unnecessary running programs. To do this, perform the following steps:

    • Go to the device settings in " Applications"

    • Here we go to the tab " Working".

    • We look for “unnecessary” active processes that overload RAM and disable them.

    Important! Remember that it makes sense to stop only third-party applications, and it is better not to touch system processes, because this can lead to malfunctions in the Android OS.

    In addition, you can use special “cleaner” programs that will automatically “unload” your gadget from unnecessary running processes and all kinds of garbage. The best ones are CCleaner and Clean Master, you can download from our website.

    We use SWAP

    In order to seriously increase the RAM, you can create a special swap file using the normal internal memory of the device. However, this will require installing a special program, for example, RAM Manager PRO. In addition, it is necessary to have root rights. How to get them.

    • Download, install and launch the RAM Manager PRO application
    • We provide the program with access to Root rights

    • We choose the profile that suits us best. If the device slows down during games, activate “Hard Game Mode”

    • If you just need your smartphone to work more smoothly and without brakes, then select “Balanced”, etc.

    • After this, we proceed directly to creating the paging file. To do this, go to the tab " Additionally"and press" Swap file".

    • Choose its size and location. The size depends on how much internal memory you can give up in favor of RAM. However, it makes no sense to specify too much - you definitely won’t be able to add 10 GB to the RAM. Therefore, we add another 512 MB and click the Create button.

    • After this, theoretically, your device will have 1 GB of RAM, half of which will be “native” built-in, and the other half will be virtual. As a result, the performance of the smartphone will increase.

    There are several other applications to create a page file, such as ROEHSOFT SWAPit RAM EXPANDER. But we will not describe them, because... they all work on a similar principle.

    How to increase internal ROM memory

    ROM is the device’s built-in memory, which is used to install applications, store photos, music and other files. Figuratively speaking, this is the hard drive of your smartphone. You can increase it only by removing unnecessary applications and other programs that you do not use. However, for this you will also need Root rights.

    • Go to the settings section " Applications"

    • Switch to the tab " All".

    • We look for unnecessary applications and remove them. For different versions of Android and different manufacturers, these preinstalled programs will be different. The most important thing is not to delete system applications that ensure the functionality of the Android OS.

    Now you have learned how you can significantly increase the performance of your device and thereby save money by not purchasing a new smartphone.

    Apps on smartphones take up more and more space every year. Users take photos, record videos, download music, filling up the internal memory. Therefore, it is recommended to clean the internal storage of your phone. Or, if all the files on it cannot be deleted and are important, you need to increase the volume in other ways.

    In addition to the frequently filling internal storage, random access memory (RAM) can also become filled with various garbage during Android operation.

    Moving apps to the card

    The first method of increasing memory on Android is to transfer applications to an external card. This can be done in two ways:

    • by using special programs;
    • using standard function phone operating system.

    You can move programs to a flash drive using the “ move toSDmap", which is already built into the phone. The following steps must be taken:

    If this button is not highlighted, it means the phone developer prohibited the possibility of transferring. However, this prohibition can be circumvented if you use additional software.

    Transferring applications using additional software

    App2SD

    It is recommended to use (App2SD) as a program that will help increase internal memory for installing applications.

    To transfer utilities to a flash card using this program, you must:

    One of the advantages of the program is hints about compatibility with external memory. It will not allow you to move those utilities that behave incorrectly after the transfer.

    Link2SD

    Link2SD utility is complex but effective for expanding internal memory on Android. To work with it you need root rights.

    To get started, you need to create an area on the ext3\ext4 SD card to emulate phone memory:

    In addition to helping with moving, the utility can clear the cache, delete unnecessary data, create shortcuts and place them on the desktop.

    A paid version programs marked “Plus” remove annoying ads and automatically clean up memory.

    Transferring files to the card

    An external card can be used as a storage device. Its volume should be greater than the amount of memory on Android itself. In order to transfer files to this device and increase the phone's memory, you need to format it.

    Step-by-step instructions for transferring files to an SD card:

    Uninstalling apps

    Having figured out how to move files and applications on your smartphone, you can now learn how to delete applications. The latter happen ordinary And preinstalled. Pre-installed ones are installed by developers and are often more difficult to remove than those installed by the user.

    To remove pre-installed applications, it is recommended to download the program.

    Steps to remove pre-installed utilities:

    If the user needs to remove only the programs he has installed, this can be done in the standard manager:

    Clearing cache

    Clearing the cache and increasing the internal memory on an Android phone or tablet is also quite simple. To do this you need to do the following:

    Removing "garbage"

    One of the programs for cleaning up garbage and increasing system memory is the SD Maid utility. Quite simple and easy to use:

    Using FolderMount

    Folder Mount will be able to expand the phone's memory. For this utility need root rights. It creates a mirror image of folders and applications on the SD card. This will fool the system and thereby free up storage space.

    Steps to increase memory using the program:

    How to increase RAM

    In addition to the internal memory of the phone, you can increase the random access memory (RAM). This is done using the following programs.

    RAM Manager PRO

    Ram Manager Pro optimizes multitasking and increases the phone's RAM capacity. One of the advantages is assistance in clearing memory and cache, small size of the utility. Provides complete information about busy and free amount of RAM.

    Good afternoon. There is no limit to beauty. There is always a desire to have a lot and even more. Even anti-greed pills. Many smartphone users periodically begin to experience problems with installing applications, launching games, etc. We all understand perfectly well that our phone is not a home computer with bulky pieces of hardware, but nevertheless we want our gadgets to work quickly and accurately. Let's talk today about how to increase the amount of internal memory on Android. Well, with this we can accordingly improve its performance.

    Unfortunately, the small size of the phone does not allow us to compare it in terms of performance with a PC, let's hope that soon Soon British scientists will come up with something new and make us happy with it. Today we’ll talk about how we can increase our internal memory in Android. As always, there are already a lot of different programs that facilitate this. I want to say right away that all these things begin to fail over time and interfere with the normal operation of our phone. We will try to increase the memory using a new, more powerful flash card. Physically, so to speak. For me this is a more reliable way. Yes, and long-lasting. For those who hope to do this by pressing just a couple of buttons, I will say one thing. Alas, we are not in a fairy tale and we have to pay for everything.

    For those who are interested, I am inserting a short video instruction on how to increase RAM on Android:

    Increasing internal memory on your Android

    We will also need a computer, or if not, then a laptop, a USB cable and a card reader.

    So, we consider that we bought the card. When purchasing, pay attention to the fact that its volume must fully correspond to the memory of your phone or tablet. If we install SD 16 GB, and our device has only 512 MB of RAM, then the phone will simply freeze.

    Let’s go into our device in advance and copy everything that we think is important somewhere. Otherwise, we will lose all this in the process of increasing memory.

    1.Download and install the program on your computer or tablet “MiniToolPartitionWizardHomeEdition”.

    2.Using a card reader, connect the memory card of our device to the PC.

    3.Going into the installed program “Wizard Home Edition” We find this memory card and, having found the “Delete” item in the pop-up menu, we immediately delete the section with the card.

    4.Using the “Create” button, we divide our map into 2 parts. We now have two sections of equal value, but not in capacity. The first one for all sorts of multimedia things. Your photos, music, etc. And the second will be the new internal memory.

    5.Format needs to be done. If you bought a high-capacity card (4 GB and above), then be sure to select FAT32 formatting. If it is small, then we simply use FAT. We name the first partition, set its size, but do not forget that the larger it is, the less space we have left for the second partition with the new increased RAM. It will be called EXT2. Usually it is made no more than two-thirds of the total volume of the card. Its standard capacity is 512 MB. Those. We do the first section without fanaticism.

    6. You must have root rights. Read what they are and how to get them.

    7. Install “Total Commander for Android” on our desired device. We insert the card into the phone and launch Total Commander.

    8. In Total, find and activate “Settings”. In the line “com.android.settings:.Settings” we enter the words “com.android.settings:.DevelopmentSettings”. An icon called “Developments” should appear at the very bottom of our screen. We activate it and connect the device to the PC via a USB cable.

    9. After rebooting the phone we will have a new increased internal memory.

    Another good way

    Although there are many points, there is no need to be scared right away. It’s better to do it once, but for a long time, than to redo something every day. The main thing is to do everything following the instructions and everything will work out. Our Android's internal memory has increased. I hope everything worked out for you. Good luck.

    PS It’s better not to store the necessary information on such a “broken into parts” memory card. With constant use, it can quickly wear out or overheat. Then it will have to be formatted again.

    I hope that all this is clear, understandable, and did not cause you much difficulty. We found out how you can increase memory on your Android using our tips.

    In those moments when a message appears that the memory is full and data stops loading, the user thinks about how to increase the internal memory on Android.

    Let’s say right away that it is impossible to do anything so that the Megabyte physically becomes larger. But it is still possible to complete the task. We will look at all available methods.

    1. Memory card

    This method lies on the surface. You can expand the Megabyte capacity by simply inserting a microSD into your device. Information can be saved on it. This way there will be more memory.

    But there are several nuances that should be taken into account when purchasing, namely:

    • find out whether your smartphone/tablet supports memory cards at all (now many Chinese models do not have this capability);
    • be sure to find out the maximum capacity of microSD (it will be a shame if you purchase a card and the device does not detect it at all due to the capacity limitation);
    • buy samples only from trusted companies (you can find cards much cheaper than most microSD, for example, in Chinese stores, but they will quickly fail).

    Rice. No. 1. Memory cards

    There is also a method that involves the user “making” the operating system think that microSD also refers to internal memory.

    2. FolderMount

    This multifunctional program allows you to transfer absolutely any applications and files to the card. Even if it is a system program with which nothing could be done before, it will still be transferred using FolderMount. In fact, this tool makes it possible to “trick” the OS.

    Using the program looks like this:

    • Download from play.google.com and install the application. Launch it.
    • So-called pairs will be displayed on the main screen. Initially, you will have nothing there. To create a new pair, click on the “+” at the top.

    Rice. No. 2. FolderMount start screen

    • Indicate the name of the couple (this is purely for yourself, so as not to get confused later). After this, indicate the source, that is, the folder or file that you will move to the card, and the destination, that is, the folder where you will move it.
    • At the end, click on the checkmark at the top and wait until the transfer process ends.

    Rice. No. 3. Window for transfer options to FolderMount

    Now the system will think that the folder or file is in the memory of the phone or tablet, but all this will actually be on microSD. This is the advantage of FolderMount.

    You, of course, can simply transfer programs to the card (how to do this is described), but standard tools do not allow you to work with all applications. Therefore, it is better to take FolderMount.

    3. Cleaning up trash

    By garbage here we mean all kinds of cache, residual files and other unnecessary information. Unfortunately, all this is accumulating at an incredibly fast pace.

    A month ago the phone was clean, but now it is already slowing down due to the fact that the OS does not have time to process everything that is in it. And this is a problem, since the system is required to check and index all files and other information. Therefore, you need to get rid of this.

    This is done as follows:

    • First, go through the list of applications installed on your smartphone/tablet. You can find them in the settings section, which is called “Applications”. In newer versions of the OS, you additionally need to open the “Application Manager” subsection. So, look carefully at what you use and what you can remove. This could be some kind of advertising materials, generally incomprehensible programs, and the like. Just click on them and then use the “Delete” button.

    Rice. No. 4. Uninstalling an application

    Important! You won’t be able to remove system programs and anything related to the operation of the OS, so don’t worry about it.

    • Next, clear the cache of the programs you left. It's best to do this manually for each of them. To do this, on the page (in the same list of installed software from the settings), go to the “Memory” section and click “Clear cache”.
    • Install Clean Master or CCleaner. This software makes it possible to regularly clear the cache for the entire installed set of programs at once. This is done with one button. For example, in Clean Master you just need to click the “Trash” button in the main menu. Read more about this, as well as about manual cleaning, in this article.

    In the future, try not to install software that you do not need, especially if your device has very little memory (16 GB or even less).

    If you still plan to use a large list of programs, buy a large memory card and install them on it.

    Garbage can also mean a variety of files that are currently not in demand or simply do not make sense in their existence.

    Here are some examples:

    • identical photographs (the same with effects, from different angles, and so on);
    • videos that the user has not watched and that are easy to find on the Internet (for example, some jokes);
    • old and unnecessary text documents.

    We also need to get rid of all this urgently. The best way to do this is to connect the device to the computer via a USB cable. Then you will be able to more clearly see the contents of the internal memory, as well as microSD, if one is used. Instead, you can use file managers instead of the standard viewer.

    Here are the best ones:

    Thanks to these programs, you will see the real contents of all folders and will be able to remove what is no longer needed. For some you will need root rights.

    Many smartphone/tablet users sometimes have the question “How to increase RAM on Android?”

    The fact is that in some cases, a device with this operating system begins to slow down very much.

    This usually starts after a long enough time of use. Applications and files accumulate and this leads to the fact that the gadget’s RAM simply does not have time to process it all. Therefore, there is a need to increase its volume.

    There are three ways to complete this task.

    The first is the simplest and involves properly managing the existing resources of your smartphone/tablet.

    The meaning of the second is almost the same, but in this case we will deal with deleting applications.

    Finally, the third method is to use certain specialized programs. These create a paging file and thanks to this they have the opportunity to increase RAM. So let's get started!

    Method 1: Optimizing existing applications

    Everything here is quite simple - you need to take and disable those applications that you do not need at the moment. Yes, it would be nice to remove them, but the problem is that not every program can be simply removed from the device.

    But you can disable almost everything except system ones. Unfortunately, nothing can be done with the latter. But even without them, the operating system will not work. Therefore, you just need to stop unnecessary applications from running.

    To do this, follow a few simple steps:

    1. Go to settings and select “Applications” there. In Android OS and higher, you additionally need to go to the “Application Manager”. But in any case, you won't get confused.
    2. In some versions of Android, you then need to go to the “Memory Usage” item. In others, it is enough to open the aforementioned manager or just the list of applications. Next you will see the picture shown in Figure 1. The open window will display all installed programs and the amount of memory that each of them occupies. The bottom will show how much memory is used and how much is free.
    3. Next, click on the application that you do not use and open its menu. It will have several buttons. If it can be removed, there will be a corresponding button in the menu. If this is not the case, there will only be "Stop" and "Disable" buttons.

    Rice. 1. List of applications on Android and the menu of one of them

    1. First stop and then disable the selected application. Do the same with other programs that you do not use.

    Then the RAM will be slightly unloaded and the device will be ready for further loads. After this procedure, the smartphone/tablet will immediately start working faster and will be able to process large amounts of information.

    Method 2: Uninstall programs

    As we said above, in some cases it will be better to simply delete the applications. Then they will definitely not be able to create a load on the system. But some programs cannot be removed. They are called system ones.

    These include a standard flashlight, programs from Microsoft, and the like. Of course, some of them are really better not to delete. But there are also those that you can completely do without.

    For example, every Android phone/tablet has the Gmail application. If you don't use Google email, you don't need it, but you can't just delete it.

    So, there are two ways to remove uninstallable applications:

    1. Obtaining superuser rights, which make it possible to delete absolutely everything that is on the device and perform other operations with it all.
    2. Using special programs to remove applications on Android.

    Superuser rights are also called root rights. To obtain them, the easiest way is to use special programs. For example, there is KingRoot. This is one of the most popular applications for obtaining root rights. To use it, do this:

    • download KingRoot from the official website of this program and install it;
    • launch the application;
    • if all is well, the “Try to root” button will become available, click on it;
    • wait until the device is granted superuser rights.

    Rice. 2. Using KingRoot on a smartphone

    If you were unable to complete the above instructions, try using the same KingRoot, but on a computer. To do this, follow a series of simple steps:

    1. Go to the official KingRoot website again and download the program for your computer there. Install it.
    2. Connect your smartphone or tablet to your computer via a USB cable. Launch KingRoot. The program will automatically find the connected device. The search process looks like shown in Figure 3.

    Rice. 3. Search for connected devices in KingRoot on your computer

    1. When the device is found, a window will appear on it asking you to allow USB debugging. Click "OK" to complete this action. Without it, it will be impossible to perform all further operations.

    Rice. 4. Allow USB debugging on your phone

    1. Now, in the program on your computer, press the “ROOT” button to give the connected device root rights.

    Rice. 5. Button for assigning root rights to the connected device

    1. Some devices will require a reboot. If this is the case in your case, a notification will appear on it. Click "OK" to reboot. If not, continue to the next step.
    2. At the end, the “Finish” button will appear in the program window on the computer. Click on it to complete the process.

    Rice. 6. Completing the assignment of root rights in KingRoot on the computer

    After this, you will be able to work with superuser rights. Go to the list of applications again, open any one and there will be a “Delete” button. Click on it to delete.

    In addition to KingRoot, also pay attention to the following applications that will help you complete the task of assigning root rights:

    • iRoot;
    • UniversalAndroot;
    • Framaroot;
    • Vroot;
    • KingRoot;
    • Kingoapp;
    • Towelroot;
    • Root Genius;
    • WeakSauce.

    Most of them help you complete the task in one click.

    Just. Isn't it true?

    It's even easier to install special programs that allow you to remove other applications. For example, there is Super Cleaner. The application was created in 2017 by the Hawk App Studio development team. To use it, do the following:

    1. Download the application on Google Play (here is the link).
    2. Go to the "App Uninstall" menu.
    3. You will see a list of installed applications that you can remove. Those that cannot be uninstalled using the standard list of Android applications will also be displayed here.
    4. Click on an application to remove it from your smartphone/tablet.

    Rice. 7. List of applications to remove in Super Cleaner

    All such programs have the same algorithm of use - you need to go to the list of applications and click on the one you want to delete. Here is a list of other programs for uninstalling applications:

    • Clean Master Lite;
    • DU Speed Booster;
    • CCleaner;
    • Clean My Android.

    Removing unnecessary programs will significantly increase the amount of available RAM. Using swap files will also help with this.

    Method 3: Using special programs

    The principle here is the same as on computers. There is a swap file that takes on the load that the main memory of the device cannot take on. So, there are many programs that allow you to create such files and add them to your smartphone/tablet. Let's look at the most convenient and popular ones.

    SWAPit RAM EXPANDER

    Quite an interesting program created by ordinary geeks. It allows you to create swap files up to 2.5 GB. If you have, for example, 1 GB of standard RAM, then even 1 GB will be just a treasure. To use SWAPit RAM EXPANDER, do the following:

    1. Download the app. This can be done, for example, on the 4PDA forum (here is the link).
    2. Launch it. From the very beginning you will need to select a language. Unfortunately, there is no Russian here. In principle, it doesn’t matter in what language this product will work, so you can leave the “English” option or check the box next to “Deutsch” and click “OK”.

    Rice. 8. Selecting a language in SWAPit RAM EXPANDER

    1. The program needs the superuser rights mentioned above. But you don't need to get them separately. SWAPit RAM EXPANDER will independently give root rights to your device. To do this, you just need to click on the “Allow” button in the window that appears.
    1. Next you will be taken to the main menu of the program in question. In it, click the “Optimal” button. This will make it possible to go to the menu of functions responsible for achieving optimal operating parameters for the smartphone/tablet.

    Rice. 10. “Optimal” button in the main menu of the program

    1. Next, check the box next to “Swap Aktiv”. This will cause a scan of existing device settings.

    Rice. 11. Scan function

    1. The scanning itself will begin. It looks as shown in Figure 12. This process can be interrupted at any time by clicking on the “Bitte warten” button (if the interface language is selected in German).

    Rice. 12. The process of scanning a device in SWAPit RAM EXPANDER

    1. When the scanning is completed, the program will already know how much to add to the existing amount of RAM for optimal operation of the device. To be precise, SWAPit RAM EXPANDER will determine the optimal operating speed. Accordingly, from this it will be possible to understand how much the device is currently missing.

    Rice. 13. Result of scanning in SWAPit RAM EXPANDER

    1. Click the "schliessen" or "close" button (depending on the language) to activate paging.

    ROEHSOFT RAMEXPANDER

    This program is paid and you will have to pay to download it on Google Play. If you are ready to take this step, do this:

    • Download ROEHSOFT RAMEXPANDER (here is the link). Run this program.
    • In the field where it says “Swap file = [size]” there is a slider that allows you to set the size of the swap file. Take advantage of this.
    • Click on the “Activate Swap” button.

    Rice. 14. ROEHSOFT RAMEXPANDER window

    • Wait until the program finishes its work.

    Now, every time the system starts, the page file will also start. As you can see, everything is very simple in ROEHSOFT RAMEXPANDER. But this program is paid. You can use the free option SWAPit RAM EXPANDER. Choose what is more convenient for you.

    Good luck in your work!

    The video below shows another way to create a page file on Android OS.

    How to properly create a paging file, and what it is

    In the video I will talk about how to properly make a swap file on an Android phone. P.S. In the video, I forgot to say that in the Swapit Ram Expander (Ram Expander) program, you do not need to disable or delete the swap file! The program itself will disable the swap file when you connect a USB!
