4) But it happens that you need spot check or full examination.

Under the “Start scanning” button there is a link “Select objects to scan” (2 in Fig. 4). If you click on it, then for a complete check you should check all the items in the list. To do this, just check the topmost checkbox next to “Scan objects”.

At the same time, you can check those flash drives that were previously used on a supposedly infected computer. To do this, you must first (before launching the Dr.Web CureIt utility) insert flash drives into the USB ports, and then also mark them in the list. In this case, you can be sure that the check will be comprehensive (although it will take a lot of time, so this must be taken into account in advance).

5) Without sufficient experience, it is better not to change other important program settings. By default, the utility will try to disinfect infected files and quarantine incurable ones.

If you want to actively participate in the check, you can set the option of sound notification about all events during it. To do this, click on the icon with the image of a wrench at the top right (3 in Fig. 4 or 3 in Fig. 5). If, on the contrary, you want to “fire and forget,” you can set the option to automatically apply default actions to threats there.

Finally, if the scan will continue in the absence of the user (which, of course, only makes sense if the program automatically applies default actions), you can also set the option to automatically turn off the computer after the scan is completed. In this case, you can familiarize yourself with the results of the program by reading the text file of its report.

6) If the Dr.Web CureIt! If you have placed any files in quarantine, it is better to click on the “Decontaminate” button.

Note: If system files on your computer have been infected, the scan will detect them and present them as threats. If you remove them, the Windows system may NOT boot after that. It is possible that it is for this reason that it is sometimes recommended to scan with the Dr.Web CureIt utility only when the Windows operating system is loaded in safe mode.

7) As a result of the files being quarantined, some application of which these files were part could stop working. You should not try to extract them from there, thus “restoring” the functionality of the application.

The correct and safest thing to do would be to delete all files from quarantine after the scan is completed, and then uninstall and reinstall the corresponding applications if they do not work or work incorrectly.

In the “Basic” tab, you configure the operating parameters of the anti-virus scanner and its interaction with the operating system.

The “Actions” tab contains program operation parameters that regulate its behavior if threats are detected on the computer:

• Move to quarantine
• Delete
• Ignore

There is no need to change anything here, since the antivirus settings are configured optimally.

Virus scanning in Dr.Web CureIt

To start a quick scan of your computer for viruses, click on the “Start scan” button. The express check will take some time.

The test can be stopped at any time using the “Pause” button, or completed using the “Stop” button. The scan cannot be stopped only during the period of checking RAM and processes.

The Doctor Web Curate program window displays information about the launch time, the number of objects scanned, threats detected, and the object currently being scanned.

After the scan is completed, information about detected threats will appear in the Dr.Web CureIt window. Click the “Open report” link to open the report in “TXT” format to view the results of the program (in English).

At the bottom of the window there is information about detected threats: detected object, threat classification, proposed action (move, skip, cure, delete), path to the object. The Doctor Web treatment utility offers its own course of action for each specific threat; the user makes his own decision.

Click on the “Defuse” button in order to neutralize all detected threats according to the program of your choice, or make a separate decision for each found object.

If you run Dr.Web CureIt on an infected computer, you should trust the program, and during a test scan, you can try to figure out the proposed objects, because not always the detected objects are actually malicious.

In my case, Doctor Web found two dangerous objects in the IOit Uninstaller program and suspicious changes in the hosts file. It is proposed to quarantine objects from the program and disinfect the hosts file (delete all entries).

When checking on the official Dr.Web website, it turned out that the threats in the program are not malicious: according to the developers of the Dr.Web antivirus, system optimization applications are useless and sometimes harmful to the operating system. The hosts file contains entries specially added there by the program, which in turn blocks the installation of unwanted programs on the computer.

Therefore, I selected the “Skip” action so that the anti-virus scanner does not delete or quarantine the objects found, since they are not harmful to my computer.

In the next window you will see the message: “All security threats have been successfully neutralized.” To complete successful virus treatment, you may need to restart your computer.

For a more serious or selective scan, in the main window of Dr.Web CureIt! Click on the “Select objects to scan” link. In the Custom Scan window, select scan objects.

In the Browse window, select drives, individual folders, or files to be scanned by the virus scanner.

Quarantine Manager

From the Options menu, enter the Quarantine Manager to view quarantined objects. Quarantined objects can be deleted, restored, or restored to a specific location.

How to use the healing utility correctly:

Please note that the utility is available for use for three days from the moment of downloading, then you will have to download it again. This is done in order to constantly keep the virus databases up to date.
