Let's see what Smallpdf can do.

1. PDF Compression. Reduces PDF sizes. It may be useful for those who scan documents using the software built into the scanner or simply do not know how to use scanning programs, as a result of which one five-page PDF file without any graphics weighs several megabytes, simply because it is scanned in color and at 600 DPI. Now imagine that there are ten such files. And that they need to be crammed into one email.
2. Convert JPG files to PDF. You can, for example, take a photo of a document on a phone with Dropbox or Google Drive installed and configured for automatic synchronization of media files, go to Smallpdf, take the photos you just took from Dropbox or Google Drive and put them into a PDF. Rough scanning, angry and cheap.
3. Convert PDF to JPG. Sometimes you need to take pictures from a PDF. Or save an entire page of a document as a picture, for example, for publication on the web. Note to Navalny and all journalists-whistleblowers.

We take an office file (not forgetting about integration with Dropbox and Google Drive), upload it to the service, a couple of seconds - and you’re done, we take away the “fresh, exciting” PDF. Again, I confirm that it works correctly with the Cyrillic alphabet.
6. Merge/Split PDF. Merge multiple PDFs into one: any number of files can be merged into one. Splitting a PDF: fill in a multi-page document, select the pages that need to be extracted from it by simply specifying the desired range of numbers or by clicking on the pages with the mouse while holding down the Shift button, click the “Create PDF” button and voila - the document with your selection is ready for downloading!
7. Removing protection from PDF. I don’t know why or who might need to password-protect a PDF. Now there are no such files at hand, as well as software capable of setting a password, so I’ll be honest - I haven’t checked, but the service claims to remove password protection from any PDF file. I don't think they're lying.
8. Sending letters. It’s actually cool here: you can order a printout of a PDF document and send a paper letter with it to the specified address. The postal service works as follows: you upload your document to the Smallpdf.com website, pay for it to be sent to the specified address (a letter to Russia, for example, costs $2.30), the document is printed at the nearest “printing station” and sent by regular mail. I find it difficult to imagine who might need such a service: perhaps some polar explorers in places where there is Internet, but no post offices.
