• Soft Organizer - will remove unnecessary programs and their remains. How to remove remnants of a program from your computer after uninstallation

    When we delete utilities, games and programs on the computer, the so-called “tails” of these programs remain in the system partition or disk. As a rule, these are empty folders, undeletable files, as well as unnecessary registry entries.

    To remove “tails” or remnants of deleted programs, you need to use special utilities for cleaning the registry... But, it’s simpler and most correct to immediately remove the program and clean the registry in one action. But how can this be done? Answer: the free Uninstall Tool can handle this, it will do it in an instant. Let's look at how to remove remnants of deleted programs?

    The Uninstall Tool has a fairly large list of languages, among which it is worth noting the presence of the Russian language. And the simple and intuitive interface of the utility will allow you to quickly, and most importantly, completely and without residue, remove a program or game on your computer that was previously installed.

    When we launch the Uninstall Tool, we will see a list of programs installed on the PC, even those that were installed without your knowledge and are invisible to the standard capabilities of the Windows system. When you double-click on any entry, a deletion request will appear, after which the standard (that is, built into the program being deleted) deletion method will first start, and then the cleaning of leftovers and deletion of old entries in the registry will begin. It is also worth noting that the Uninstall Tool will remove without leaving any remnants of the utility that Windows cannot remove if the files of the program being erased are “broken.” In a word, the Uninstall Tool is a comprehensive removal of programs and remnants or “tails” from them.

    Installing the Uninstall Tool

    There is no need to install the Uninstall Tool, as I suggest downloading the portable version, which does not require installation. All you need to do is download the zip file and unpack it to a convenient location on your computer. Next, run the UninstallTool.exe file and remove unnecessary utilities. For convenience, I put a shortcut on the “Desktop”, for those who don’t know how, look at the screenshot.

    You can download the Uninstall Tool for free below, at the end of the article. Now I’ll show you an example of how to quickly uninstall a program on your computer.

    Removing the program and its remnants

    First, launch the Uninstall Tool. The program will show us the entire list of installed utilities and games.

    Now select the desired program, I chose Pandora. Now double-click or right-click once and click “Uninstall”

    If everything is fine, the wizard for removing and cleaning residues and tails will start, but it happens that normal removal is impossible and an error pops up.

    It would seem, well, it’s impossible to delete, but that’s not the case... Again, click the right mouse button once and select another item - “Forced deletion”

    This window will appear, naturally we agree...

    And here are the found remains, “tails” and registry entries from Pandora Service. Click “Delete”

    As a result, we get a successful operation as in the picture

    That's all, as you can see, nothing complicated! But if you accidentally deleted photos or necessary files on a memory card or computer, then do not lose heart, because you can easily return them and restore files even after emptying the recycle bin using a program for recovering deleted files. And for Android smartphones, file recovery is available without a PC, but you need root rights.

    How to get rid of most of the remnants of uninstalled programs in Windows at once We recommend

    Anton Maksimov, 06/13/2017 (updated 08/09/2017)

    Where are the remains of deleted programs stored and how to remove them

    According to Microsoft requirements, working program files must be stored in the %appdata% and %localappdata% folders of the Windows user profile. Accordingly, you need to look for the remains there.

    You can stock up on a bottle of patience, sit down and figure out which folder belongs to which application. Or you can do it much simpler - create a new profile and transfer all work files to it (documents, music, videos, photos). In the end, all that remains is to delete the old profile, and with it all remnants of programs that were previously deleted.

    This will save a significant amount of time. Plus, you will save yourself from accidental mistakes, because the system itself will create a profile in the required form. Of course, it will delete the old profile correctly. Your task is to completely transfer personal files from one profile to another.

    After a few days, only those programs that you already have installed and use will retain their settings in the new profile.

    Removing residues

    Create a new account

    To start working on cleaning up the balances, you need to create a fresh account that will not contain any settings. To do this, you need to open the “Control Panel” and select “User Accounts” in it.

    A window will open with a list of available accounts. There you need to click on the “Create an account” link.

    Having set a name for the new account, select its type (User or Administrator) and click on the “Save account” button.

    After this, the list of accounts will be added to by one. You can proceed to the next step - data transfer.

    Transferring data to a new account

    Before you begin transferring your personal data, you must switch to the new account. When switching, the operating system will create a new profile from scratch and put all the basic elements into it.

    To switch to a new account, click “Start” - the arrow to the right of “Shut down” - “Log out”. In the user selection window, you need to click on the new account.

    To start transferring data between accounts, you need to open two Explorer windows and place them next to each other. In the left window, open the folder with the old profile, and in the right window, open the folder with the new profile. The old and new profiles are located on the system drive in the “Users” folder. It's hard to miss.

    Consistently transfer data from personal folders from the old profile to the new one. First “Documents”, then “Images”, then “Videos” and “Photos”.

    If you store personal data in other folders outside the user profile, then there is no need to transfer it.

    Deleting an old account

    To delete your old account, you must once again make sure that all data has been transferred to the new profile. After this we do the following:

    • Open “Control Panel” - “User Accounts”
    • Managing another account
    • Select the old account
    • Deleting an account

    In the confirmation window, click on the “Delete files” button

    This completes the process of removing residues. Now you need to set up a new profile for yourself and work as before, but with a clean account.

    What to pay attention to

    When using this method of removing leftovers from deleted programs, you should pay attention to a number of features that can be extremely important.

    • Some programs (for example, Dropbox) are installed entirely in the %appdata% folder, so you will have to reinstall them again.
    • The settings of some programs may be reset or data saved to the old profile. Therefore, it is recommended to check the settings and change the paths to indicate the path to the new account.
    • After switching to a new account, you may need additional configuration for switching layouts (if you do not use the standard option).

    Otherwise, everything works as normal and no additional movements are required.

    Conclusion

    After all the manipulations with my computer, I managed to free up more than 20 GB of disk space, which I am incredibly happy about.

    It is also worth noting that there is also an All Users folder, which stores application settings for all users (shared folder). To understand the data in it, I had to sit down and go through all the folders manually, deleting unnecessary ones. What saved me was that in my case there were very few of them.

    You can similarly remove leftovers in other versions of Windows (XP-10).

    Uninstalling programs: Revo Uninstaller

    Hello my dear friend.

    Each of us has many programs and utilities installed on our computer that perform certain tasks.

    Along with installing programs on a computer, we quite often remove programs.

    Programs are removed using so-called uninstallers. Usually the uninstaller is already provided by the program developer himself.

    This file is located in the folder with the program, called uninstall.exe or uninstaller.exe.

    Accordingly, you can remove the program by directly clicking on this file or through the control panel, programs and uninstall programs.

    Uninstalling programs

    In this case, the system still accesses the same uninstall.exe files of this or that program that we want to remove.

    However, after removal using standard means, very often “tails” remain after programs. These program remnants clog the Windows registry with unnecessary data. As a result, it “swells”, which leads to slower system performance.

    However, there is a solution to this problem. This is to use a special uninstaller program to remove a particular program from the hard drive and delete entries of the program being removed from the system registry.

    We will look at one of the best programs in this class - a utility called Revo Uninstaller.

    It is completely free and has a Russian user interface. (You can download the program here http://www.softportal.com/get-6084-revo-uninstaller.html).

    After you run the executive file, select Russian.

    Revo Uninstaller

    After installation, the following window will open in front of you:

    The first section, Uninstaller, lists all installed programs.

    Revo Uninstaller main window

    We can right-click on any program shortcut to open a context menu.

    Uninstalling a program

    There we can delete the program (Delete option) or simply remove the program from the list of installed ones using the Delete entry option (in this case, the program will not be physically removed).

    The Open registry key option opens entries related to this program in the system registry.

    Installation location opens the folder where the program is installed.

    To completely remove the program without any “tails”, select the remove option and click ok in the next window.

    Let's look at other features of the program.

    The Tools section provides us with additional tools for working with programs.

    Autorun manager:

    Startup manager Revo Uninstaller

    This tool allows you to enable, disable and remove programs from startup.

    Autorun programs are programs that automatically start when you start the Windows operating system. Such programs can be system (drivers, services) and user, when certain programs are registered in autostart (for example, the Skype messaging program)

    Windows Tools:

    Windows Tools

    Provides access to important Windows settings. For example, disk defragmentation or system information.

    Junk file cleaner:

    File Cleaner

    Allows you to delete so-called temporary files from hard drives. Temporary files appear while programs are running and very often are not automatically deleted when they are closed (closing programs).

    To search for such files, you need to click on the “Scan” button

    I also advise you to go to the settings (the settings button at the top of the window) before deleting temporary files and check the “Delete files in the trash” checkbox. Thus, if the system works stably after deleting temporary files, then the recycle bin can be safely emptied.

    Revo Uninstaller Settings

    You will also see a list of temporary file extensions - it is better not to go into it and not change anything there.

    Trace Cleaner

    Here are tools that remove traces of your computer activity.

    For example, they delete your browsing history in your browser or delete data and files beyond recovery. I will not particularly consider these tools, since the average user, as a rule, does not need them.

    I would also like to separately mention a very interesting program option.

    It's called "Hunter Mode".

    When you click on this button at the top of the window, a target appears. You can point this target at any program (just left-click on it and move in the desired direction without releasing the button) to delete it, or delete unnecessary shortcuts on the desktop. You can also drag and drop shortcuts onto the target instead of pointing.

    To return to the normal program window, right-click on the target and select “Open main window.”

    The review of the Revo Uninstaller program has come to an end.

    There is also a paid version of the program - Revo Uninstaller Pro.

    It has more options and goodies, but the free version also copes with its tasks and is also easy to use.

    Now you can very easily remove programs without leaving “tails” on your hard drive and in the system registry. This fact will have a positive effect on the operation of Windows.

    P.S. Leave your comments below. Tell us about your ideas for future video lessons, articles and notes.

    Also share the note with your friends and acquaintances.

    The more people know about me, the bigger my project will become, and the easier it will be for it to develop.

    Good computer knowledge to you.

    Sincerely, Artyom.

    Soft Organizer - removes unnecessary programs and their remains

    ≡ 3 July 2016 · Category: Computer programs · 1,236 Views

    I continue to introduce all subscribers and casual visitors to my blog to new and interesting applications for working with a computer. Today I present to your attention Soft Organizer - it will remove unnecessary programs and their remains. Moreover! It will help you remove an uninstallable program! Shows which installed utilities on your PC are unnecessary. Will constantly monitor the installation process of new software, as well as monitor the release of their updates.

    Soft Organizer

    Why Soft Organizer? This is a very serious, I’m not afraid of such a word as a powerful uninstaller, it will significantly destroy everything that usually remains - folders, logs, saves, registry entries, etc., when using standard Windows utilities.

    Why Soft Organizer? This is a very serious, I’m not afraid of the word, powerful uninstaller, it will significantly destroy everything that usually remains - folders, logs, saves, registry entries, etc., when using standard Windows utilities.

    I would even put Soft Organizer on a par with Revo Uninstaller, Reg Organizer (by the way, like S.O., the developer is Konstantin Polyakov) and Uninstall Tool.

    P.S.: Yes, previously, before characteristic changes were made to the functionality of the product, it was called Full Uninstall.

    After downloading and subsequent installation, run (if this does not happen automatically) the utility.

    As you can see, the interface is quite simple and intuitive. The application is very convenient and comfortable to work with.

    The main menu is located on the left side.

    In order to remove a program from your computer, select the required one in the right window with the mouse and click the corresponding button (I have highlighted it in red in the screenshot).

    Yes, as soon as an application is marked, information about it, “Traces in the system”, “Registry entries”, will be displayed at the top.

    To display the full list, click the corresponding “Show all traces” link.

    So, after pressing the button, 3 stages of removal will follow - “Standard”, “Search for traces” and “Erasing traces”.

    But first there will be an analysis.

    Then "Standard" will start. That is, the process will be performed by a regular Windows uninstaller. Upon completion, we will be asked to find residual files on the system.

    Of course, we agree and, to confirm this, click on “Find”.

    The system scan will begin. This usually doesn't take much time.

    At the end of the procedure, we will be presented with a report and the opportunity to remove all remaining garbage from the system.

    Searching for program remains

    For example, you previously used a completely different uninstaller. And you want to make sure that the software that you destroyed earlier has completely disappeared from your computer. This is why the “Traces of already deleted programs” function exists. Feel free to click on the name and start scanning.

    My search turned up no results, which is good! Perhaps your case will have the same positive outcome as mine.

    Or the window will provide a list of utilities that were previously installed on the PC.

    In this case, as you might guess, you need to select the necessary checkboxes and press the corresponding green button.

    How to make a backup

    In case any incorrect actions were performed on your part, the necessary utility was erased, for example. Everything can be restored easily. To do this, in the lower right corner, click on “Undo Changes Center”.

    Open it. Mark the important details and click “Cancel Change”.

    Download Soft Organizer for free

    You can from the official website of the developer.

    Conclusion

    Without false modesty, I can say that this utility is an indispensable assistant for any user. After all, a “clean” computer is the key to productive work, strength and nerves.

    Cleaning the registry, temporary files and “traces” after uninstalling programs - Sys.Admin Notes

    We all, I think, know that while working on a computer (especially one connected to the Internet), willy-nilly, all sorts of garbage accumulates on it (the word “garbage” has nothing to do with the police :)), which slows down the system, is the cause of errors and failures, and generally takes up precious space on the hard drive, in the registry and who knows where else.

    Therefore, in this material, I will tell you how to clean the registry, quickly delete temporary files (Temp, Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, etc.), as well as any “junk” left behind by deleted programs or generated during their operation. After this process, of course, an increase in free space on the hard drive is guaranteed, and in general an easy improvement in the operation of the system, as well as getting rid of a number of typical problems/errors or the possibility of their occurrence.

    Let's get started.

    For cleaning the registry, the moderately old, but very working, sensible and good program Regseeker is perfect. One of the latest versions (numbered 2.55) which you can download directly from this link (uploaded specifically by me - use it;)).

    The program is a tweaker (customizer), as well as a cleaner for Windows. However, in addition to this, this miracle of programmer thought has a number of other typical (for example, deleting programs), but no less useful buns. Actually, if you are interested, you can delve into the settings and functions of the program yourself, but for now we are only interested in its ability to clean the registry.

    No program installation required. Just download the archive, unzip it to any location convenient for you, and then run the RegSeeker.exe file from the folder where you unzipped it.

    The new versions finally have support for the Russian language, so you can safely click on the “Languages” button in the upper right corner of the program and choose, in fact, your favorite one.

    When everything is over, all we have to do is select “Select - Select all”, and then “Actions - Delete selected elements”.

    At the last stage, i.e. before immediate deletion, you will be asked to specify a name for the backup copy (for this, the “Backup” checkbox should be checked in the lower left corner). Set, click "OK" and enjoy a clean system :)

    Note: There are registry entries that are not garbage as such, but due to the fact that they are created by the system as temporary\auxiliary, they are perceived by RegSeeker as something like an unnecessary cache. Therefore, even if you run RegSeeker immediately after cleaning, it will again find the auxiliaries just recreated by the system. In short, you don’t need to run RegSeeker 10 times a day because of them. Running it once every month or two is enough to remove real garbage.

    If suddenly (albeit practically unrealistic, because the program works very stably, but you never know) something goes wrong, then in the program window we select the “Backup” tab, where we see all the created backups.

    Select the last one (or just the one you need, if there are already several of them) and use the “Restore” button. That's all.

    In general, Regseeker is a very powerful tool for cleaning the registry, but if you are interested in how to clean the registry even more powerfully and better, then you can familiarize yourself with this program, or better yet, with the products of the Wise company, which I wrote about in the article “Cleaning the Registry” and cleaning your hard drive from junk X2"

    For those who did not see the note above, I will repeat that many try to run the scan again immediately and again find many registry entries, after which they run away with the question: “why are they not cleared?” The answer is simple - there are registry entries that are not garbage as such, but due to the fact that they are created by the system as temporary/auxiliary, they are perceived by RegSeeker as something like an unnecessary cache. Therefore, even if you start scanning immediately after cleaning, it will again find the “auxiliaries” just recreated by the system. In short, you don’t need to “muddle” the program 10 times a day because of them, but running it once a month (or a couple of weeks) is enough to remove real garbage.

    Back to contents

    Cleaning up junk using CCleaner. Removing Temp, cache, all other temporary files and “tails” after deleted programs.

    For all this, as you already understood from the obvious subtitle, we will need the Ccleaner program, which is very popular on the Internet, which is a kind of turbo broom for cleaning the unfortunate coughing Windows from all sorts of nasty things.

    You can download, as always, directly from my website from here or from the official website using this link (in this case, by following the link, you will need to select one of three download sources - see the picture at this link).

    Regarding the installation... In general, everything is simple, but just in case, I will describe the process in detail, namely:

    By the way, if suddenly in some versions you are required to install additional programs, panels, and other things, feel free to refuse. This happens and something useful rarely comes out of it.

    As for use, everything is quite simple here:

    However, no, I recently came across a powerful plugin that makes cleaning with CCleaner even more powerful and high-quality. You can read the article “Expanding the capabilities of CCleaner and cleaning the system even more powerfully.”

    PS: By the way, in addition to those already mentioned in this material, there is another article on cleaning the system and registry, namely “Cleaning up garbage, registry, etc.” And in general, you can find all of them on the website under the tag #cleaning garbage from the registry and the PS2 system: Also, I strongly recommend that you read the material called “We completely remove any programs.” This will greatly help you in efficiently and correctly removing unnecessary programs.

    Russian | English installation and portable registered versions in one installer!

    Often, after uninstalling programs, traces of them remain on the system, unnecessary files and folders on disks and entries in the registry. This happens even if the application was uninstalled according to all the rules, using its own uninstaller (a tool for uninstalling a program created by its developers). Soft Organizer (formerly Full Uninstall) is designed to solve this problem: it will completely remove an unnecessary application from your system.

    System Requirements:

    The computer's hard drive gradually becomes clogged with junk files and application remnants, even when using the standard Windows uninstaller or built-in uninstallation mechanisms in the programs themselves. In order not to turn your PC into a landfill, third-party developers offer to download free applications to completely remove programs, unnecessary software, which will detect and destroy all files missed by standard Windows tools, and traces of deleted software.

    Program for uninstalling programs

    The main problem with all applications is that they leave a huge number of files in the computer's memory. In most cases, these are registry keys, user settings for a remote program. The developers' calculation is that the user will install the application again after some time. Although they weigh no more than 1 MB, over time their volume begins to take up more and more space and unnecessarily load the system.

    Developers offer a whole range of software that removes programs completely, down to registry entries and text files of license agreements (the standard Windows removal wizard in most cases leaves them in separate folders). It is also worth mentioning saves for games, which remain in the computer's memory by default, so that the player can install the toy again and continue with the saved process. There are simply free uninstallers or complex software for creating a clean system:

    • PC Decrapifilier;
    • Absolute Uninstaller;
    • Advanced Uninstaller PRO;
    • AppRemover;
    • CCleaner;
    • Iobit Uninstaller.

    Utilities for removing antiviruses

    A separate problem is the removal of antivirus programs. Each of them is designed to resist uninstallation or modification as much as possible. Even with a complete software shutdown and stop, the antivirus may simply refuse to remove itself or leave a serious package of files that will prevent the installation of an alternative antivirus.

    For such cases, the developers themselves (Kaspersky, Dr.Web and others) offer special utilities for removing their software. But in truth, they still leave traces on the system, because no one wants to lose even the user who uses free versions of antiviruses. The best uninstaller for completely removing antiviruses and firewalls is AppRemover. The software can clean the system without installing it on the hard drive, complete an interrupted uninstallation, and search for remaining files and registry keys.

    Uninstaller programs for Windows

    This category of software is aimed at total uninstallation of programs up to the last mention in the registry. In addition to the fact that the built-in Windows uninstaller only removes active application files that are specified by the developer, some software products simply do not register themselves in the uninstallation panel. The user has to manually search for the folder with the software or game and simply throw it into the trash. In this case, all keys and links remain in the system.

    Powerful uninstallers find all the points on the hard drive and in the OS where the program that the user wants to remove has left its traces. In most cases, the uninstaller will show these files in case you need to leave them. Among such programs there are recognized leaders (Iobit Uninstaller, CCleaner), but there are also alternative applications written by single developers that sometimes become hits among users (Any File Delete, Soft4Boost Any Uninstaller). What do such programs offer in contrast to standard Windows components:

    • removal of unwanted components of software packages;
    • working with the system registry;
    • software garbage search function;
    • cleaning system folders;
    • batch removal of Windows components;
    • forced removal of blocked elements;
    • choosing a method for deleting files;
    • editing the list of installed startup applications;
    • elimination of remaining temporary files;
    • manually remove unnecessary registry keys;
    • clearing menu shortcuts;
    • adjusting the operation of standard OS components.

    Program uninstaller

    Any user strives for free software, especially when it is required for one-time or rare use. Most modern alternative uninstallers are freely distributed, and if you wish, you only need to pay for advanced functionality. However, the free version is completely enough for the average user to remove unnecessary programs and clean the system of junk files. Among freely available uninstallers, there are leaders who offer the maximum without requiring payment.

    Uninstall Tool

    The program remover is a shareware: a test version with full functionality is provided for 30 days. After expiration, you need to buy a one-time lifetime license for $25. A period of 1 month is enough to completely rid the system of junk, incorrectly installed programs, clean the registry and optimize the operation of the OS. The interface is extremely simple and understandable even for a novice user. After installation, the uninstaller automatically scans the system and offers optimal solutions (from its point of view) for each program or error.

    Lobit Uninstaller

    Lobit is conquering the market with its completely free small utilities for any occasion. This uninstaller is from the free series. Lobit Uninstaller, an application for removing programs from a computer, takes up minimal disk space while finding deep traces in the registry. Separately, it is necessary to mention the passive monitoring function: if you remove a program using a standard uninstaller, the application will automatically detect the remaining garbage and offer to destroy it in the selected mode. Automation of the computer cleaning process is offered for a fee.

    Revo Uninstaller

    A program for removing unnecessary files in two versions: Pro and Free. The free version has reduced functionality, but it is enough to search for garbage left after deleting applications, cleaning browsers and the office suite. A paid license removes even problematic programs, tunes Windows, cleans sensitive data, supports multi-level backups and much more. However, the cost of one version (about $20) is not justified: there are many utilities on the Internet with the same functions that are cheaper or completely free.

    Driver Sweeper

    A reliable utility aimed at complete management of device drivers. Sometimes some hardware equipment requires several driver packages, which can conflict with each other and lead to unstable operation. Driver Sweeper after installation displays a list of all installed drivers. The development is designed for advanced users, so you need to use it wisely (completely clearing any package sometimes leads to the device being turned off).

    Absolute Uninstaller

    From the name it is clear that the application is aimed at the total correct removal of programs and all associated files. The interface resembles a standard Windows utility, so even a novice user can figure it out. For convenience, new programs are highlighted in color, corrects incorrect installations, and removes applications in batches if necessary. Absolute Uninstaller does not require purchase or additional activation; it is considered the fastest (according to user reviews) utility in terms of system cleaning speed.

    Advanced Uninstaller PRO

    A completely free program for removing applications after version 10 of the update (the current one on the official website is 12.21). A huge plus was the ability to control autorun through the context menu of the application icon and a convenient assistant. In addition to cleaning hidden files and the registry, it removes toolbars, plugins, fonts and any settings in browsers. The latest interface change is reminiscent of Windows 10, making navigation easier.

    AppRemover

    A specialized free application for completely uninstalling installed antiviruses, antispyware and firewalls. You can use the software if you have installed several security applications on your computer that conflict with each other. A separate feature is the ability to open any software for which the password has been forgotten. The downside is that you will have to look for a localizer separately; initially, the application is only in English.

    CCleaner

    Most likely, the most popular utility for removing programs in the Russian-speaking segment of the Internet. Although CCleaner has begun to lose ground, according to statistics it is installed or was installed on every third computer in the Russian Federation. It has full functionality for removing applications, residual files, registry entries, and cleaning browsers. Allows you to destroy data without the possibility of recovery. The interface is extremely concise and understandable even to ordinary users. In this case, the software will warn if the user tries to delete any key files.

    Unstable operation of the operating system can be caused by many external factors, which are not always obvious. However, there is some correlation between the fast, stable performance of Windows and the number of third-party applications installed by the user. However, uninstalling programs does not guarantee complete removal of all traces of them from the system: it leaves behind “phantom” files, folders, libraries, and Registry elements.

    The list of installed programs is located in the Control Panel, “Programs and Features” section. It’s worth noting right away that this is not a complete list of applications. Also, in some cases, uninstallation is impossible: the necessary files are missing, the uninstaller is damaged, or some other problems occur that can only be resolved with the help of alternative application managers (uninstallers). Their advantages include the fact that they provide more information about the installed software and changes already made (monitoring function).

    The review includes 6 programs:

    • Revo Uninstaller Pro
    • Wise Program Uninstaller
    • IObit Uninstaller
    • Ashampoo UnInstaller
    • Soft Organizer
    • Uninstall Tool

    First of all, we are interested in the following aspects of each of the utilities:

    • Working with the list of applications: sorting, search, display modes
    • Installation control: real-time monitoring, log storage
    • Uninstallation: batch uninstallation, other types of removal, scanning depth

    Revo Uninstaller

    Revo Uninstaller, compared to the Windows toolkit, demonstrates better speed, functionality and helps deal with applications that cannot be removed by the standard method.

    The main features of the program are presented in the “All Programs” module. Using the “View” menu, you can switch to the most convenient option for displaying the list. Applications are combined into groups, and the “Details” mode provides sorting that complements the search. Of particular interest was the hunter mode, in which the desired application is marked by pressing the cursor on the open window.

    There are 3 uninstallation methods in total: forced, standard and quick. In each option, Revo Uninstaller first creates a restore point and a full backup of the Registry. To cancel changes, just go to the backup manager and specify a rollback point.

    Standard removal (the “Delete” command) involves launching the program’s uninstaller and then scanning associated Registry items and files that can be deleted manually. There are 4 types of scanning available: built-in, secure, moderate and advanced, depending on the depth of the search.

    The most effective way to remove tracked applications installed through Revo Uninstaller. This type of uninstallation requires preliminary monitoring of the installation via Revo Uninstaller ("Install Programs" command). All changes made by the installer are transferred to Uninstaller in real time. Thus, there is no need to take a photo before and after installing the program.

    Log files containing a list of changes are stored in the Monitored Programs section. It is worth paying attention to the “Log Database”, which contains information about programs compatible with the current OS - this data may also be required during uninstallation.

    Revo Uninstaller also has other cleaning tools in stock, such as a startup manager, junk file cleaner, evidence remover, and fatal deletion. There is no point in focusing attention on them, since they are not related to the main purpose of the utility.

    The free version of the programs has a number of limitations: forced uninstallation, advanced scanning, creating a backup copy of the Registry and others are not available. At the same time, the basic functionality includes scanning after removal, 8 additional utilities and free technical support.

    Resume

    Revo Uninstaller contains the full set of features needed to cleanly uninstall applications, with installation tracking, reporting and system backup capabilities.

    [+] Several uninstallation options
    [+] Real-time monitoring
    [+] Additional utilities
    [+] Availability of Registry and file system scanning modes

    Wise Program Uninstaller

    In fact, the main functions of Wise Program Uninstaller can be listed in one line: protected, forced removal and removal of an item from the list.

    Safe Mode is the most obvious choice: it uses the uninstaller of the program itself. Otherwise, a forced method is used, when the search for associated files, folders and Registry keys is assigned to Wise Program Uninstaller. It is interesting that when listing the features of Uninstaller, a combined uninstallation is mentioned, which, however, was never found in the program interface: only safe and forced removal are available. It is also impossible to select the scanning depth.

    Damaged uninstallers can be easily removed using the button in the upper right part of the line with the name of the program. Using the context menu, you can go to the corresponding entry about the program in the Registry.

    Another opportunity that the developers focus on is recovery. However, this is a standard installer function that does not relate directly to Wise Program Uninstaller.

    Resume

    An easy-to-use utility that allows you to remove unnecessary programs and their remains. Alas, there is no need to talk about “thorough and comprehensive uninstallation”. Wise Program Uninstaller will find its use with the caveat that there is no function for creating a backup copy, and it is also impossible to analyze the changes made by the installer.

    [+] Simplicity
    [−] Low functionality
    [−] No scanning

    IObit Uninstaller

    IObit Uninstaller is a free utility that includes deep scan functions, forced application uninstallation, and works without installation.

    The “All Programs” section displays a list of installed programs and information about each of them: publisher, version, occupied size, installation date and other information. In addition to the general list, sections “Recently Installed” and “Large Programs” are available.

    There are two options for uninstalling applications - standard and advanced. Advanced uninstallation involves searching for remaining elements (files, registry keys) on the computer. There is no installation monitoring, which further establishes IObit Uninstaller as more of a portable utility.

    If you need to uninstall several applications in one go, the batch uninstallation mode will be convenient (as you know, with standard Windows tools, through Programs and Features, you can process only one program at a time). In IObit Uninstaller, just check the required lines and the programs will be removed in order. In addition to the actual uninstallation, it is also possible to remove entries about uninstallers.

    IObit Uninstaller creates restore points that can be managed through Windows Recovery Center. Records of deleted data are recorded in the log (“Menu - Log Management”) in text format.

    The Toolbars section contains add-ons that, as practice shows, are not always legally “registered” in the system. After scanning, they can be removed from the system.

    Resume

    The IObit Uninstaller utility is easy to use due to its portability (it can be stored on removable media), contains the most important functions related to uninstallation, and allows you to safely delete unnecessary files and keys. However, Uninstaller does not include installation monitoring, so it falls slightly short of its paid counterparts.

    [+] Portability
    [+] Great functionality for the free version
    [+] Removing add-ons
    [−] Lack of monitoring

    Ashampoo UnInstaller

    Home page:

    Ashampoo UnInstaller is a complete solution for uninstalling applications. This includes installation monitoring, thorough removal of remaining traces in the file system and Registry, and other tools.

    Monitoring allows you to take a snapshot of the changes made by the installer in real time. All information is subsequently used to completely remove the controlled program. You can start monitoring either manually or in the background - changes will be recorded in logs automatically.

    If a program entry is damaged, it cannot be deleted. In the list, the line with the program is red; only one operation is available for it - deleting an entry. It is worth noting that in other uninstallers (say, IObit Uninstaller or Revo Uninstaller Pro) you can clear individual Registry keys, but here there is no chance that all the keys will be deleted along with the entry.

    For programs installed in the standard way, without monitoring, removal is available using the uninstaller (the “Programs” tab). To top it off, Ashampoo UnInstaller will offer to find files and Registry items remaining on the system. It has been noticed that uninstallation through Ashampoo UnInstaller does not always go smoothly and the program freezes, which is why it has to be restarted.

    Additional Ashampoo UnInstaller tools can be divided into service tools related to administration and file deletion (the first three sections of the “Tools” section). The program settings are located in the “General” section, additional system information is located in “Windows→Tools”. Using the Backup Management module, you can manage existing backups. At the same time, there are not enough settings that regulate the creation of checkpoints in user-specified situations.

    Resume

    Ashampoo UnInstaller has monitoring and reporting, but some basic uninstallation features have not been given enough attention. As a result, processes such as creating a backup copy or deleting traces are beyond the user's control. The positive aspects include additional tools that can improve Windows performance.

    [+] Additional tools
    [−] Unstable operation
    [−] Unintuitive interface

    Soft Organizer

    Soft Organizer allows you to control application installations in real time. Moreover, according to the developers, the program works faster than analogues in its category, “without resorting to long-term storage of information about all files before and after installation.”

    However, installation monitoring is not a unique feature, even with the feature that it works in real time. At the same time, Soft Organizer has the most convenient shell: it’s easy to familiarize yourself with all the changes in the installer and, if necessary, make adjustments: change a parameter in the Registry, add a file to exceptions, etc.

    The utility is presented as a window without tabs, with a list of installed programs. Such minimalism did not affect functionality - quite the opposite. By selecting the desired element, you can quickly find out what traces the program left on the system. The list can be sorted and grouped by developers, age, tracking status, updates. By the way, the mass search for updates for applications implemented in Soft Organizer is very convenient. Batch removal is also possible; to do this, just select several items in the list and click the “Remove programs” button.

    Perhaps there is not enough sorting of the list by size, although there is such an option in the standard Programs and Features panel. One of the more serious complaints is the lack of options regarding creating a backup copy in advance.

    The program was created by a Russian-speaking company, so the interface, help and support are in Russian. Soft Organizer users can make their suggestions on the page.

    Resume

    Soft Organizer provides a convenient and fast interface for managing applications and good functionality. We were pleased with the package capabilities for working with files: both updating and uninstalling.

    [+] Functionality
    [+] Convenient and uncomplicated interface
    [+] Batch features
    [−] Inability to create a backup copy

    Uninstall Tool

    Uninstall Tool is another program for quickly uninstalling applications, including hidden and system components, monitoring installation, removing erroneous entries and startup items.

    The list of installed programs is contained in the “Uninstaller” section, which, in turn, has several more tabs at the bottom of the window. In addition to the general list, you can go to system and hidden components that do not appear in Windows Programs and Features. The list is sorted by criteria such as size and installation date; information about each application is available in the left panel. When selecting several lines, the batch functions of the Uninstall Tool are activated, namely the forced deletion and deletion of entries from the Registry. Standard uninstallation is not provided in this mode, which is explained by several reasons: this process still requires user intervention, a reboot may also be required, etc.

    All uninstall commands are concentrated in the “Actions” menu: standard uninstall, delete entry and force delete. For more thorough removal of traces, a Removal Wizard is included. Cleaning involves deleting files left in the Program Files, Application Data folders, shortcuts, Registry keys, etc. It should be noted that deleting traces of programs is only available in the registered version; without this, you can only view the elements remaining after uninstallation.

    The “Install and Monitor” section provides access to installation monitoring. Again, no pre- and post-installation scanning is required: a snapshot of changes is created in real time, saving user time.

    Tracked programs are displayed with an icon in the list column of the same name. In the case of a tracked application, there is no need for a thorough scan since all entries have been logged. They can only be viewed in XML format, although during the installation process the history can also be saved in a text file.

    Among other section options, the startup editor should be mentioned. With its help, you can remove unnecessary elements and disable startup of certain programs.

    Resume

    Uninstall Tool is a fairly functional and convenient uninstallation utility that has significant limitations in the trial version. However, there is a monitoring mode, batch operation and the ability to remove hidden components.

    [+] Work in portable mode

    [+] Removing hidden components
    [−] No backup management
