• Texet x. Texet X-driver - Technical characteristics. Additional cameras are usually mounted above the device screen and are used mainly for video conversations, gesture recognition, etc.

    What I didn't like

When the network level is weak, an internal error sometimes occurs. Either rebooting or switching to/from airplane mode helps.

    What I didn't like

    body fluid!!!

    What I liked

camera, processor speed, same equipment as Texet 3204-R

    What I didn't like

fell - the glass cracked, did not affect the operation, but there were no spare parts, after another fall - the plastic ears on the back cover of the phone flew off, the rear steel and rubberized cover remained in place thanks to the upper bolts, but the lower part began to stick out. I had to seal it tightly with superglue... In the end, the glass gave a lot of cracks with a little pressure... and it (the phone) became impossible to use, there was only a cobweb on the screen.

    What I liked

    Large, impresses others, worked fine

    What I didn't like

    1. After some time, the battery begins to wobble in the case. It can be treated by placing a piece of paper under the back cover.
    2. In the factory firmware the camera was 5MP. After flashing, +3mp was added :-) and the following glitch appeared - after a long time off the network - you can’t get through to the phone even in the city. Rebooting the device helps.
    3. Bluetooth is not very long-range. If you carry the phone in a backpack, the bluetooth headphones will not work. They are caught only in a belt bag or in the side pocket of pants.
    4. Screen 3 points, compared with iPhone.
    5. Heavy - excessive strength, in my opinion. This is not a problem for me, of course.
    6. At maximum volume, the speaker wheezes at times.
    7. It takes 4-5 hours to charge, provided that it is used with standard charging - 1A. In the computer's USB port - 500 mA or less - it takes 8-10 hours to charge.
    8. The back cover is bolted to the plastic corners! One unfortunate fall and one of the corners cracked, now the lid does not close tightly - you can forget about water protection.
    9. Another fall and the flash stopped working.

    What I liked

1.Strong, fell onto the tiles from my pocket several times. I haven't tested it for water resistance. 2. On average, the battery lasts for three days. 3. GPS works fine, sensors do not glitch.

    What I didn't like

    1. The device lives its own life. The problem is that the screen does not lock during a call. Hence - early shutdowns, and changes in settings that happen on their own, and switching calls during a conversation, and a bunch of other “charms”. It turns out that you buy a product, and in order to bring it to completion you need to find and install additional software somewhere so that this damn screen is locked as it should be by default.
    2. In a “shockproof” device, the battery dangles like a rattle inside the case.
From time to time, when it loses power, it turns off. Therefore, for the device to actually become shockproof, you need to place (as someone already suggested) a folded piece of paper under the battery. Funny. I suggest that marketers from TEXET be enterprising and supplement the range of accessories with a special insert!
    3. The flash LED, also known as the flashlight, has died.
In short, this is not a smartphone. This is a cynical slap in your direction, dear customer.

    What I liked

The case is strong and really not afraid of water

    What I didn't like

    Everything else

    What I liked

    Appearance

    What I didn't like

For a waterproof phone, the warranty card states that the warranty is canceled if water or traces of liquid are detected inside the device.

    What I didn't like

The phone is a complete flaw, the sensor worked poorly from the very beginning, it constantly does something wrong during a call... It switches off on its own. The speaker died after 8 months. They did not take this G for repair under warranty because the screen was broken. The defense is also not great. And the appropriate finale is that if the hardware in the phone needs to be replaced, in my case the microphone, it cannot be repaired. The official service center said you can throw it away.

    What I liked

    protective bumper

    What I didn't like

    Fragile cover
    -Fragile glass
-As a consequence of the above, NOT shockproof
-The plugs wear out over time and bend in one place, they tear, and even spare plugs do not save, since the rubber deteriorates over time even without use.
-The camera takes pictures only with sound and the sound cannot be turned off even in silent mode
-Almost cannot be repaired in service workshops
-The manufacturer texet itself does not know how to solve the above problems, but continues to produce this phone model.
-The carbine flew out along with the plastic partition

    What I liked

Brutal design - Rubberized body, which prevents falls from the hand - The presence of a carabiner as additional insurance against falls - Quite modern in characteristics

    What I didn't like

The earphone plug does not hold well, it pops out, which means it will not protect against water. After a reboot, some shortcuts disappear from the working screens. There are no mechanical call buttons or camera release buttons, which would be very nice for a protected device.

    What I liked

Appearance, body strength. Capacious battery. After the purchase, it turned out that there was 2GB of system memory, which is rare for rugged devices. And the price.

    What I didn't like

    There is no decent navigator.
A clip for a belt, instead of a carabiner.

    What I liked

The appearance is great. REALLY not afraid of liquids and shocks. (TESTED by the builder himself. Cement, height and water withstood). Good battery, 5 hours of surfing - 10%. The case is strong, but not titanium.

    What I didn't like

    The software is very slippery......:
    1) if the connection quality on SIM 1 is poor for a long time, the GSM module freezes without any warnings (can only be treated by rebooting the device) Yes, but by the time you notice that the connection is not working, many people cannot reach you. For a phone with such an emphasis on off-roading, this bug should generally exist We won’t allow it (I think that the developers have long been obliged to fix this programmatically).
2 times every 3-6 days it starts to become unreasonably stupid.... It does EVERYTHING slowly. Cured by rebooting.
    3) I would like that when you link a specific number to a specific SIM, you are not asked every time which SIM to call this number with.
    4) I don’t know if the support service is responding, but for 4 days there has been no answer to the questions sent. For now they ignore. If they answer, I will change the review by writing how long it took for the answer to be given.
4.1) On December 24, there is still no answer, and apparently there won’t be any.
    5) the flash LED began to shine after a couple of months of operation at a quarter of the power, we can assume that it is not working.

    What I liked

1Water resistance (tested several times in PM and sea water) 1.1) It eventually leaked due to the fact that the rear lenses that protect the flash and camera began to dangle, apparently came unstuck. Yes, but there is now more dust from the inside than is necessary. 2) Really impact resistant in both glass and glass (fallen from more than a meter onto concrete with glass) 3) In general, he thinks quite quickly. 4) The battery life in general is not bad (2-5 days)

    Scope of delivery:

    • Telephone
    • Network adapter

    • Headset
    • Carabiner with compass

    Introduction

Currently, there are more and more dust- and moisture-resistant devices on the portable device market. This can be explained very simply: firstly, technology began to allow (from simple plugs to special coatings), secondly, marketing - a potential buyer is always pleased when his gadget has some feature, even if not particularly necessary, but which distinguishes this device from hundreds of others, thirdly, there are still users who desperately need protection.

It seems to me that the teXet X-driver smartphone is intended for the latter, let’s say, group of people. These are probably people involved in active sports, going on hikes, fishing or hunting. In short, the device is suitable for those who might accidentally “kill” their phone, since the X-driver is not afraid of water, sand, or shock. In addition, I would like to separately emphasize that this model has a fairly capacious battery for such gadgets - 2500 mAh, i.e. The operating time will be close to the operating time of a regular push-button telephone, which is an undeniable advantage if you go on a trip and there is no coveted outlet nearby.

    Design, dimensions, control elements

The company, traditionally for the entire line of rugged devices, released the X-driver in black and orange colors and with a mega-brutal appearance. If previous vehicles could be compared with tractors, then the new product can and should rightfully be compared with a tank: a very interesting design of the upper part of the body with pointed corners, armored sides, the back cover looks as if something on a caterpillar drive had driven over it. It was implemented in an interesting and quite original way.

The announcement already stated that the gadget has an international class of protection against moisture and dust IP68. This means that it is dustproof and can work in water at a depth of more than one meter. As far as I know, for smartphones IP68 is the maximum (I can already hear the keyboard clicking of commentators writing that they ordered a smartphone with IP10 for $100 in China), since IP69 means the device can operate in water under pressure. It is technically more difficult to implement, and such coolness will be of little use, at least for the average user.

The body consists of several layers: the first layer is orange porous plastic, the second is black rubberized plastic. There are reinforced rubber inserts on the right and left, since these are the places where the impact takes place if the phone falls. In addition, they rise slightly above the body, thereby partially protecting the screen. The upper end has a sharp shape.

The back cover is made of metal, soldered into a durable plastic casing, and the top is covered with rubber protection. It is held on by two screws and fits very tightly to the body. There is a rubber gasket between the cover and the phone.

To avoid talking at length about the security of the X-driver, watch the video below. Naturally, I did not try to “kill” the device, since this can be done with any device, even one protected by osmium or iridium :)

By the way, I noticed that after I tortured the gadget, not a single scratch appeared on the screen (besides, there is Dragontrail glass from the Japanese company ASAHI glass), and the body was left without any serious damage.

As you might have guessed, the dimensions of teXet are quite impressive - 139x73.5x18 mm, and the weight is also quite considerable - 265 grams. It seems to me that one rear panel weighs 100 grams. The dimensions are really large: imagine the Samsung Galaxy S4, which has not only grown almost a centimeter thick, but also acquired a not entirely smooth body.

The device feels good in the hand, well, as much as possible with a weight of 265 grams and a thickness of almost two centimeters. In the spring you can still wear it in a jacket, but in the summer, frankly speaking, I don’t know where it will be stored...

On the top of the front panel there is a speaker covered with a light metal mesh. The volume is surprisingly high, however, due to the protection, intelligibility is not very good, the timbre is closer to high frequencies, the sound is heard as if from afar. To the right of it is the front camera, and to the left are light and proximity sensors.

Below the screen are touch buttons “Menu”, “Home”, “Back” and “Search”. What the search button does here is not entirely clear. The impression is that the gadget was developed back in the days (I wanted to say “USSR”) of older versions of the OS.

At the bottom there is a micro-USB connector. It is covered with a powerful and durable rubber plug, which, even with long nails, is not always possible to pry off. The same type of plug is used for the 3.5 mm headphone output. If you break them (the rubber will simply break over time at the bending point), you will find spare ones in the kit.

The power button, also for blocking/activating the backlight, is on the top. Plastic, orange. Behind it is a huge loop for attaching a strap or carabiner.

On the right edge there is a volume rocker key. Convex, the stroke is minimal, the pressure is firm and very tight.

On the back of the X-driver: on the left is the camera, on the right is the flash (from the pictures on the Internet it seemed to me that this was another camera), by the way, it is very weak, at the bottom there is a speaker.

To open the cover, you need to unscrew two screws on the back of the device. Under the panel there are two slots for mini-SIM cards and a microSD connector.

    teXet and Nokia Lumia 1020

    Display

Typically, in secure devices, they try to use screens with diagonals as small as possible, since the display is the most fragile part of the device. However, teXet decided to use a 4-inch screen diagonal (physical size – 52x87 mm). For example, in the TM-3204R there is only 3.2". The resolution is not high, but for its diagonal it is quite suitable - 480x800 pixels, density - 233 pixels per inch. The X-drive matrix is not made using IPS technology. The picture quality is pleasant, the colors are saturated, the corners not the maximum: if you turn the screen towards you, the contrast decreases, and the colors are inverted. But in general, the image is good. I was disappointed with the brightness of the display matrix, even when turned up to its maximum, it is hardly enough for office lighting, it is only comfortable to use at home. In the sun the picture is practically invisible. I think this problem will be critical for those who engage in active sports in bright light.

The capacitive touch layer handles up to 2 simultaneous touches. Sensitivity is good, but it’s difficult to glide your finger across the surface.

    Battery

It uses a lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery with a capacity of 2500 mAh, 4.2 V, 9.25 Wh. The manufacturer gives approximate operating time: in standby mode – up to 450 hours, in “surfing” mode – up to 8 hours, in talk mode – up to 6 hours.

In video playback mode (MP4, 640x480 pixels) at maximum brightness and volume in the headphones, the battery ran out after about 4 hours. If you use 3G, make about 10-15 calls lasting 1-2 minutes, “take pictures” for 20 minutes, then the battery will run out in 9 hours.

Charging will take approximately 5.5 hours from USB and the same from the AC adapter. I advise you to use a different network with a higher output current.

    Communication capabilities

The phone operates in 2G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (900/2100 MHz – SIM1 only) cellular networks. Available Bluetooth version 2.1 (EDR) for file and voice transfer. There is a wireless connection Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n. The device, of course, can be used as an access point (Wi-Fi Hotspot) or modem. In the settings, this item is listed as “Modem mode”. There is Wi-Fi Direct.

There is GPS. It works more or less normally, at least I didn’t have any problems, after all, it’s a Qualcomm chipset, not a MediaTek one.

    Memory and memory card

This model has 768 MB of RAM. Of this amount of RAM, on average, just under 400 MB is free.

Built-in memory 4 GB, available for storing data (1 GB) and applications (1.9 GB). There is a slot for a microSDHC memory card up to 32 GB.

    Camera

This smartphone has two cameras: the main one is 8 MP (I’m sure this is an interpolation from 3-5 MP), the front one is 0.3 MP. There is a flash, it is weak, not even enough for 1.5 meters.

The picture quality does not correspond to the resolution at all: the image is soapy, the detail is very poor. The only saving grace is autofocus; at least small details can be photographed. I won’t describe it in detail, since the camera module is weak.

The device writes video in a resolution of 640x480 pixels at 15 frames per second. It is not clear why the resolution is so low, at least the frame rate would be increased.

Photos do not contain EXIF data.

    Video file characteristics:

    • File Format: 3GP
    • Video codec: MPEG-4, 4 Mbit/s
    • Resolution: 640 x 480, 15 fps
    • Audio codec: AAC, 96 Kbps
    • Channels: 1 channel, 48 kHz

Examples of photos taken with the main camera:

    Performance and Software Platform

The teXet X-Diver smartphone was equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Play MSM8225 chipset. The dual-core ARM Cortex-A5 processor, 45nm process technology, ARMv7 architecture works here. The graphics accelerator is Adreno 203.

Our laboratory tested many different smartphones, each of which had its own specific differences. This time we decided to present to your attention an armored smartphone from teXet, model X-Driver TM-4104R. If you are an active tourist who does not go on vacation to get a tan and, if possible, sunstroke, and participates in various hikes, where sometimes you have to deal with various difficulties (water, dust, dirt, etc.) , That teXet X-Driver TM-4104R ideal for trips like this. So, let's take a closer look at this armored smartphone.
Armored smartphones are popular only among a certain part of the population, because the average user is unlikely to be interested in them, because their large dimensions and weight repel buyers who are looking for an urban version of a smartphone. However, armored smartphones have enough fans, all that remains is to check whether the teXet X-Driver TM-4104R is really good at what it does?

    Equipment teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

    • The device itself
    • USB cable 2 pieces
    • Charger
    • Additional plugs
    • Headphones
    • Belt holder with compass
    • User manual and warranty card

I would like to immediately note that the charger and USB cable did not make it into our Laboratory; most likely, they were lost along the way.

    Availability of teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

At the time of testing, the device from TeXet cost approximately 10,000 rubles, which in principle is not that much for such a smartphone. Of course, it has its competitors, but who doesn’t have them today?

    Appearance of teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

So, let's look at the appearance of our subject. The device has a very nice design that is pleasing to the eyes. On the front panel we have a 0.3 megapixel camera, which is only suitable for talking on Skype. There is a speaker next to it. At the bottom of the display there are 4 touch buttons (Settings, Home, Previous menu, Search). Just below you can see the microphone and the inscription teXet.

On the right side there is a volume rocker, but on the left there is nothing.

At the bottom there is a connector for charging the device, which is reliably protected from dust and moisture.

On the top edge there is an on/off button and a headset jack, which are also reliably protected.

There is an 8 megapixel camera at the back, and the flash sits nicely parallel to it. Below you can see the speaker.

There is a place at the top to attach a strap.

Under the back cover there is a battery, 2 SIM card slots and a micro SD memory card slot.

Now let's look at the resulting armor. We'll start with the side sheets. These are 6 plates that protect the smartphone well from falls; we note that they cannot be removed, because they are firmly attached to the body of the device.

The back cover (steel) is also very well protected; it is held on by two bolts, which are quite difficult to unscrew with the small screwdriver included in the kit (if you can call it that).

The device's display is also well protected.

    Display TeXet X-Driver TM-4104R

As for the display, here we have a 4-inch IPS touchscreen with a resolution of 480x800 pixels. The screen is quite comfortable to use, there is enough brightness. The viewing angles are excellent. In this case, we had no complaints.

    Battery teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

The smartphone's battery has a capacity of 2500 mAh, which is enough for one day of work, but in the Antutu test, the device scored 808 points. But this does not mean that the energy charge will be quickly used up, because it is unlikely that such a gadget will be bought by people who use an armored smartphone for games and other entertainment. That is, if you do not use it as a game console, then the battery will last for almost two days of use, and if the energy runs out, then the teXet X-Driver TM-4104R can be used as a hammer or brick.

    Filling teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

The armored smartphone teXet X-Driver TM-4104R is controlled by a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8225 processor with a clock frequency of 1 GHz, an Adreno 203 graphics processor, 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory. However, in this case, Android 4.0.4 OS is installed.

    Antutu teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

In the benchmark, the device scored almost 7,200 thousand points, which is quite good for this smartphone.

    Vellamo teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

    Communication teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

The smartphone received everything it needed, which included GPS navigation, which showed very good results. Note that the device is dual-SIM, which is also a big plus. The connection is good, and no malfunctions were found during the tests.

    Camera teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

Install a 0.3 MP front and 8 MP main camera. As for the front, it is only required for video calls, and is rarely used for pictures. The main camera takes pictures quite well, the pictures come out very good, if we talk about the fact that this is an armored smartphone, and not a flagship model of well-known device models. However, in places where there is little light, the smartphone did not perform well. Here are examples of photos:

    Software teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

The smartphone runs on Android 4.0 OS, which may confuse some users, but it's not that bad. In the set of programs, we can mention Texet FunBox, where you can find a lot of interesting information, but we note right away that it is paid, that is, you need to pay for any information. There are also a number of interesting programs: teXet recommends, ES Explorer, onGameZ. Separately, I would like to note the convenient and pleasing to the eye Astro Player. I don’t see any point in mentioning everything else, because everything else follows the standard, but I was pleased that teXet X-Driver TM-4104R does not have unnecessary applications.

Video review of teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

    Results for teXet X-Driver TM-4104R

To summarize, we were very pleased with the armored smartphone. teXet X-Driver TM-4104R can truly be praised for its durability and endurance. Of course, no one is protected from the fact that the device can accidentally fall from a bird’s eye view and break something, but not all fans of such devices, it seems to me, are involved in extreme sports, for example, mountain climbing. Of course, when dropped on the asphalt, the smartphone suffered minor internal damage to the display in the lower right corner, but this did not make it function any worse. It should be noted that the characteristics of the device are very good. If you are an ardent fan of tourism, then this smartphone is ideal for any trip. For his perseverance and courage, we give him the "HIT MegaReview Editor's Choice" medal, and we wish you good luck.

Review of an SUV smartphone with a sad screen

    30.12.2013

    Lyrical introduction

I got my first mobile phone, if I’m not mistaken, in mid-2000. Over the past period of time, I have accounted for two broken glasses and three phone calls. One smartphone thrown into a wall and numerous falls that did not lead to serious injuries are not counted. This works out to an average of one accident every sixteen months.

Of the three falls into the water, one was fatal. Minus about ten thousand rubles. Two glass replacements cost another six thousand. Total unforeseen expenses due to our own crooked hands are a little more than a thousand rubles a year.

Is it worth it to look towards waterproof and shockproof devices? In my case, probably not. It's a painfully expensive pleasure. But not everyone is as neat as me (well, you understand, you can’t praise yourself...).

By the way, this is an interesting question. How much does high-quality shockproofing cost? Will it greatly increase the price of a smartphone? They seem to have learned how to make inexpensive protection against swimming. See, for example, Huawei Honor 3. There is nothing supernatural there, but the device will not suffer from a short stay in water.

But I don’t see any cheap shockproof protection on sale.

    Synthetic tests:

Sensors There is a light sensor and a proximity sensor. Accelerometer - where would we be without it? We didn't forget about the compass. But there is no gyroscope. Unfortunately, there are also excesses like a thermometer. By the way, it's a pity. Considering that the device is highly waterproof, it would be convenient for them to measure the water temperature before swimming.

    Communication with the outside world

3G Internet. It works, no problems identified.

Wi-Fi - of course, where without it. Standard b/g/n. Sensitivity is slightly below average. The speed is normal, no problems.

    Bluetooth version 2.1.

It connects to a computer via USB in “two flash drives” mode - the internal area plus a memory card.

There is no ability to connect external devices (USB-OTG).

No nice extras like LTE, NFC or MHL were found.

    Screen

Officially, we have an IPS matrix here, four inches, resolution 480x800.

Really. Pleasant colors, good color temperature (7000K), quite acceptable contrast (550:1), good viewing angles on three sides. On the fourth side (bottom) - turn off the light. Everything is very bad - see the video demonstrating how it works.

By the way, who could explain to me: this behavior - when there is poor visibility on one side - does this generally happen with IPS matrices? Or is it still TN?

Another problem with the screen is that it is dim. Maximum brightness - 137.1 cd/m2. For comparison, Huawei Honor 3, which I show in the video next to the X-driver, has a brightness of more than 400 cd/m2. Frankly, this is the dullest smartphone I've ever seen. The previous record holder was Prestigio MultiPhone 4055 DUO, which had about 160 cd/m2.

Sensor. Tolerant, but a little dull. Plus, the screen is not smooth enough; your finger glides across it a little worse than usual. Out of habit, this leads to minor problems in toys where a quick and clear reaction is needed. Like Temple Run and stuff like that. Perhaps over time you can get used to it.

Fingerprints on the screen remain full-length. Doesn't come off too easily.

    Operating system and other software

The smartphone is equipped with the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, which is quite ancient for the end of 2013.

There is not too much pre-installed software. Unfortunately, for the most part it is unremovable.

    Battery

Battery capacity - 2500 mAh, i.e. approximately at the level of the Galaxy S4, which we take as the standard in battery tests. The X-driver holds a charge a little better than its famous rival, but not much, unfortunately. Actually I expected more. Still, modest hardware, modest screen. The gaming test was especially disappointing. Only 3:20. It won't be enough!

The video is recorded at a maximum resolution of 640x480, 15 frames per second, sound - mono. At the same time, for some reason the default size is set to an even more modest size - 320x240 (also 15 frames).

The front camera is the most modest, only 0.3 mpix. Examples of photos? Let's not talk about sad things.

    teXet TM-4104R X-driver as a GPS navigator

The “cold” search for satellites on the windowsill took 17 minutes. With the use of auxiliary means, satellites are caught instantly. We don’t know how to catch GLONASS, only imported GPS.

Not the best navigator. Not that it's completely bad. Average. But the battery could work better, and the screen...

    teXet TM-4104R X-driver as a video player

Everything is standard, nothing new. Pre-installed players are no different. So we use MX Player or something else. It’s better to forget about FullHD viewing. "Simply HD" looks fine.

teXet X-driver TM-4104R runs an operating system Android 4.0. Its performance is rated 5 out of 5 (in its segment). This smartphone is high-performance. Here you can find the characteristics of the device, instructions on how to reset the settings, flash the device and, of course, how to get root rights to the device

    Root on teXet X-driver TM-4104R

How to get root for teXet X-driver TM-4104R see instructions below.

Below are universal programs for obtaining root rights for devices on Qualcomm Snapdragon

    • (need PC)
    • (Root using PC)
    • (popular)
    • (root in one click)

If you could not obtain superuser (root) rights or the program did not appear (you can install it yourself) - ask a question in the topic. You may need to flash a custom kernel.
