• Sony Xperia Z3 compact phone. Comfortable size: review of the mini-flagship Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. Mobile device batteries differ from each other in their capacity and technology. They provide the electrical charge necessary for their functioning.

Quite a fast device. The battery life in call/Internet/social network mode was at one time enough for 1.5-2 days. Waterproof - you can safely use it in the rain; I haven’t tried heating it in water.

      Compact and design

Characteristics, appearance, convenient size, dust and moisture protection. Everything made me very happy for 6 months. This is at the time of purchase in 2014, now I have had the Galaxy A3 2016 for 2 years, no questions. Samsung is tearing up Sony!!! Sony - I deliberately write with a capital letter. the brand is over.

compact, convenient, fits perfectly in the hand, one of the best phones of that time.

Performance. Almost no lag during the entire time of use, smooth, nimble. Camera. It shoots pretty decently even in automatic mode, but for maximum quality it is of course better to shoot in manual mode. Connection. The network picks up well, satellites, and other sensors also function well. Unless NFC doesn't support mifare. Battery. There are no words here. Although its volume is small, thanks to some super-nanotechnologies, energy consumption is remarkably optimized; with normal use, it lasts for one and a half or even 2 days. Basically, the location sensor eats up the most, if it is constantly on, then of course it will last until the evening at most. Notification indicator. A useful thing that, unfortunately, is not installed on all phones. Dimensions. Comfortable to hold and use with one hand.

Design, shapes, ergonomics, assembly! Feels good in the hand. Performance: everything flies, no lags were noticed. (Android flies on this hardware like iOS on the best Apple models). Communication is excellent, speaker, microphone. The camera is also a big plus, there are a lot of settings, you can take amazing shots. Paired with the aforementioned performance, photography is a pleasure. The battery is optimized, with an average load (without stamina mode, with 4G, average display brightness, this is two days of work! At maximum load (without letting go): a full working day. When “stamina” is activated, fortunately there are quite a lot of settings for this mode , you can individually and subtly optimize the battery depending on operating conditions, which will significantly increase the battery life.

The non-removable case (which is also an advantage in terms of tightness) means that it is impossible to change the battery yourself (without special tools), because you will have to break the seal of the device.

SCREEN!!! IT JUST FALLED AWAY after a year. glued. FALLED OFF AGAIN. In the workshop they glued the proximity sensor and covered it with glue - that’s it, the display needs to be replaced, replacement 15k. Threw away the phone. After some time, I bought another SONY phone and screw it, THE SCREEN FALLED OFF AGAIN. NEVER BUY SONY PHONES, Because the quality of their products is worse than the Chinese nonname.

Sony's quality is poor. It sat for 2 years while it was being sued for poor quality and the battery was swollen. Result: three warranty repairs and self-destruction....

camera, back cover, top plug (it lasts exactly half a year - and the rubber band starts to fall off).

After a year and a half, the front glass came off. Let me add: all my friends who had such a phone had the glass come off (3 more phones), and after warranty repairs it came off again.

Couldn't stand up to frequent use and started to malfunction, the contacts are very delicate. In the end, the contacts broke off completely. The sound in general is very quiet. There are 2 speakers, one is auditory; during a conversation, only this one works, it is less powerful. The second, at the bottom, works with incoming calls, alarm clocks, watching videos, listening to audio along with the usual auditory one - the top one, in stereo mode. It is a little more powerful, but still, on the street or in transport there is a risk of missing the signal. Defects in 99% of phones. More about this. I received a black D5803. Pros

Full of necessary and not so necessary functions, very advanced in functionality, easy intuitive menu, a 5+ device, if not for the build quality and, as it turned out, the complete lack of dealer support

    Cons

According to reviews from servicemen, not only from the workshop where the device was repaired, there are frequent calls due to manufacturing defects or when purchased under the guise of a new repair device, even in large “grids”

    Impressions

"Compact Z-3" - a complete "hat" - was purchased on 12/01/14, and already on 01/18/15 the screen began to peel off from the corner and a strip appeared along the entire length of the screen on the side, the sensor did not work at first, but after the phone was completely dead , tormented by the fact that he lived his life for almost two days (played a video, made sounds as if he was photographing something, turned on the alarm clock, while the screen was “off” and due to problems with the sensor it was impossible to turn it off) and again Charged/rebooted the touch screen worked, albeit with a stripe and a screen extending from one corner of the body. And all this taking into account the fact that the device was purchased new from Svyaznoy. Naturally, under warranty, it was delivered to the Sony dealership in Moscow, in the hope that “Sony” is the name, support from the “end”, etc., such as quality control, etc., but in the end after 30 days that he stayed there, instead of repairs, a conclusion was received, not even from the manufacturer, but from some third-party LLC, in which “a type of independent examination was carried out” (such a “mastodon” as Sony turns out to be in Russia does not have its own expert institution): refusal to repair, allegedly due to water getting inside, allegedly scratches and careless operation, although it was covered with films on both sides when purchased at the Svyaznoy office for more than 2 thousand rubles, for which it was even the warranty is separate from the device from "Svyaznoy" and was always in a case, the device was not dropped into water and was not walked in the rain with it (winter, careful operation, by a girl) - they sent it to an independent workshop with a good reputation, it was opened in front of us - verdict: it wasn’t even opened at the dealership, there are no traces of water getting into the device, it’s a manufacturing defect. As a result, repairs cost 14.5 thousand rubles. and the loss of waterproofing function as a negative “bonus”, because The touch screen assembly was replaced. As explained in the workshop, there are many complaints about this kind of breakdown, there are frequent cases of sales even in branded network centers (M-video, Svyaznoy, Euroset) of repair devices under the guise of new or defective devices, as in our case. After that, I found out from friends - two who bought the same devices had similar problems, although from experience with the Z-1 there were no such problems, they even filmed underwater at sea - and everything was ok, and not just me. Since then, this long-suffering "Z-3 compact" seems to be working and not glitching. Verdict - dealer service, despite the high price of the gadget, is simply absent; the manufacturer does not bear any responsibility for its defects to the buyer. Although I am completely satisfied with its qualities, it is advanced and full of functions. “Bits” that I also use, that the 4th, that the 5th dropped several times - I only changed the broken glass panels, dropped them into the bathtub, after drying they came back to life, once I even poured hot coffee on the 4th - it dried up, but about After two weeks the home button started to malfunction - I had to replace it for 1.5 rubles.

After the Lumia 925, the impressions are entirely positive. I will no longer return to the wretched WP crutch I spent 2 years with. But Sony also gave me a surprise with a minus sign.

After a month of use, the phone began to discharge very quickly (within 7 hours) in all modes, active, “sleeping” and even (attention) in the off (!!!) state and was constantly warm. In search of the cause of this accident, I searched all over the Internet, tried to turn off everything I could, and completely reset the phone several times. to the factory settings, I flashed it a couple of times via cable, through the Sony utility. In general, I took it to the service center, and after 2 weeks I received a fully working device. To the question: “What did you do?” - received the answer: “We asked again.” In general, I was glad that they didn’t take it apart, but I didn’t understand the answer a little, because... I flashed it myself 2 times.

It doesn’t matter, now the phone holds a charge for 2 days in average use mode (conversations 3 hours a day, a little Internet) and about 20-30% remains. Happy as an elephant. Yes, I also bought protective glass for the front and back, I really love the tactile sensations of the glass and a couple of wires for magnetic charging, so as not to bother with plugs.

The constant increase in smartphone screen diagonals does not suit all users. Not wanting to buy a “shovel,” many people use old models until the last minute, and when choosing a new thing, they are ready to put up with simpler characteristics in order to maintain the desired dimensions. In such conditions, individual compact flagships are of particular interest, and today we will get acquainted with perhaps the most interesting of them.

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is a mini version of the Xperia Z3, the company's flagship launched a few months ago. In the case of Sony, the Compact prefix characterizes only the dimensions of the model, because from the point of view of the hardware platform, software and capabilities, the smartphones are similar. In order not to repeat ourselves, in some places we will refer to what was written, and in this material we will try to draw attention to the differences and features that make the Z3 Compact stand out from its competitors.

The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (D5833) comes in a simple box along with a 1.5 amp charger, cable, regular in-ear headset and documentation.

The D5803 model is officially sold in Ukraine; it comes without a headset.

    Design and usability

The Z3 Compact's design is reminiscent of Sony's other flagship models. The front and back panels are made of glass, and the sides this time are made of a special polymer. They are translucent and feel like very hard rubber.

Let us immediately note that this has a positive impact on the ergonomics of the smartphone. Compared to the regular Xperia Z3, which, due to its thin body and smooth rounded sides, is difficult to lift from the table, the Z3 Compact turned out to be noticeably more grippy - this is due to the polymer and the slightly increased thickness of the body.

The layout of the controls is similar to the flagship. On the front panel you can find the manufacturer's logo, stereo speakers, a set of sensors, a front camera and a light indicator in the upper left corner.

The back has the usual main camera lens with flash, NFC area, Sony and Xperia line logos.

On the top edge you can find a headset jack and a hole for the second microphone, on the bottom - the main microphone and a hole for attaching a wrist strap.

The right side contains the power keys, volume keys and a two-position camera button. In the center of the left side there is a connector for connecting to a proprietary docking station with two wide plugs on either side of it. Under the left is a tray for a NanoSIM card, under the right is a MicroUSB connector and a memory card slot.

Our sample was assembled perfectly, there were no large gaps, all parts fit tightly together, and the structure is rigid and does not lend itself to deformation.

If plastic inserts solved the problems of case slippage, then with the convenience of physical buttons everything is not so simple. When you pick up your smartphone for the first time, your attention is drawn to the very short volume and camera keys. In addition, the power and volume keys have an unusually stiff movement. By and large, this does not worsen the ergonomics of the smartphone; you quickly get used to them.

Many of those who picked up a smartphone noted the specific appearance of the docking station connector, which stands out from the overall proven design. From the point of view of ease of use, it would be better to close the connector with a plug and remove it from the MicroUSB connector, especially since it is not a mandatory attribute of a waterproof smartphone.

Like the Xperia Z3, the Z3 Compact received new body colors.

The black version we reviewed best demonstrates the disadvantages of using glass as a material for the back of a smartphone. It actively collects fingerprints, which are clearly visible from almost any angle.

They are easy to remove by simply wiping the Z3 Compact with a cloth, but to maintain its appearance, the operation will have to be repeated after each use. On other color versions this feature will appear to a lesser extent.

Thanks to its compact size, the smartphone is easy to use with one hand; even people with small hands will have no problems using it.

    Display

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact has a 4.6-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels. In terms of the set of available settings, the technologies used, color rendering and other features, the display is similar to the flagship Xperia Z3.

The screen brightness varies from 3 to 449 cd/m², the contrast is 1:782 - according to the basic characteristics, the display is quite good. HD resolution on such a diagonal gives a pixel density of 319 ppi, which is comparable to “Retina screens” - it is very difficult to see individual elements of the image even with thin fonts, the picture looks smooth.

As we said, color reproduction is similar to that of the flagship. The color temperature is very high - at the level of 10-11000K, so the image takes on a blue tint that is not the most pleasant for the eye, and other parameters also noticeably deviate from the norm.

    Measurement results with default settings:

This can be corrected in the display settings, where there is a “White Balance” item. By adjusting it, you can reduce the color temperature to an almost normal value and get a more pleasing picture to the eye, although even after such manipulations the screen will lose to initially correctly calibrated IPS matrices.

Measurement results when manually adjusting white balance (255:190:0):

Vertical and horizontal viewing angles are maximum, but when viewed diagonally, fading is noticeable, black becomes gray.

In terms of color quality, the Z3 Compact's screen looks average, but its other characteristics smooth out the overall picture. These include a normal oleophobic coating, which allows the finger to easily slide across the glass, good readability on the street, a wide range of brightness adjustments, and the ability to operate with gloves.

    Hardware platform

The hardware platform and set of communication modules of the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact are completely inherited from the flagship, the only exception is 2, not 3 GB of RAM.

The capabilities of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC are more than enough given the small screen resolution. The smartphone works very quickly, in some tasks it even feels like it’s faster than the flagship.

Such performance sometimes results in slight heating of the case, which is felt, but does not go beyond acceptable limits.

There were no issues with the operation of the GPS and Wi-Fi modules.

    Calls, multimedia

The multimedia capabilities of the smartphone are completely identical to those of the Xperia Z3. A variety of branded accessories are supported, there are software functions for improving sound quality and much more.

From the point of view of telephone functionality, the smartphone is doing well. The speaker is loud enough to allow you to communicate without problems in almost any environment. The stereo speakers play nicely, although they are very far from those in the HTC One (M8). The vibration alert can be felt in your trouser pockets.

    Operating system and shell

The smartphone runs the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system with a proprietary shell, completely similar to that of the Xperia Z3 and Z2.

    Opening hours

The Z3 Compact body houses a non-removable 2600 mAh battery. As with the flagship, the manufacturer claims two days of operation at an average load; this data can be considered reliable.

    Cameras

The photographic capabilities of the review hero are similar to those of the flagship. The user has two cameras at his disposal - the main one with a 20.7 megapixel sensor and the front one with 2.2 megapixels. The camera application has many settings and shooting modes, which can be supplemented with the help of various extensions installed directly from the program.

When you launch the camera with the shooting button, the smart mode is always turned on; photos in it are saved in 8 megapixel resolution.

In general, the picture is similar to the flagship - the smartphone takes good pictures, but is inferior to current flagships. Results

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is a good example of a compact and powerful smartphone. If we look at it head-on, then we will see simply a smaller version of the flagship, with all its inherent advantages and disadvantages. Among the latter, it is worth highlighting the very specific color rendition of the display, crude photo processing algorithms, and the considerable price of the smartphone can also be attributed to them. Replacing metal sidewalls with polymer ones, no matter how controversial it may sound, did the Xperia Z3 Compact good; it became more grippy, such a solution looks fresh from an aesthetic point of view. But the hero of the review wins from the point of view of emotions - the powerful filling and compact dimensions make it easy to stand out against the background of large flagships, and due to the proprietary Sony-style, water resistance, good battery life and the presence of a slot for memory cards, the “compact” will not fade in comparison.

The Z3 Compact is very similar to its predecessor (Z1 Compact) in terms of design. But there are some similarities with the Z3. Like the Z3, our smartphone is sold in four colors: black, white, light green and red-orange. The Z3 Compact body is slightly thicker than the Z3 (8.64 mm versus 7.3), and it weighs 129 g, which is 23 g less than the Z3 and 8 g less than the Z1 Compact. The rear panel is covered in slippery glass, just like the Z3, and requires the same precautions (ideally: a quality soft case).

The main difference lies in the base of the body - it is involved plastic instead of aluminum. The workmanship is no worse than that of other Xperias - this is where Sony does not allow itself to lose face. No uneven or excessively wide cracks, all parts fit tightly and the smartphone is pleasant to hold in your hand. The rigidity of the design, however, leaves much to be desired - some corners are susceptible to bending, and some areas of the rear panel are subject to pressure. In both cases, the deformation causes distortion on the display. Nothing terrible, but still unworthy of a flagship - even a smaller version.

The battery cannot be replaced by yourself, but like the full-size model, the Z3 Compact is certified to dust and moisture protection according to standard IP 65/68. Let us remind you that this means complete dust resistance of the device (the first digit is 6 in both numbers), protection from jets of water under pressure (the second digit, 5, in the first number) and the ability to operate for an unlimited time when immersed in fresh water to a shallow depth (second digit, 8, in second number).

Unfortunately, providing the device for testing by the manufacturer itself imposes certain restrictions: we cannot subject the device to potentially dangerous tests, since it will have to be returned, so water resistance testing is out of the question. Judging by the experience of buyers, it is impossible to draw a confident conclusion about the quality of its implementation: while some owners take their smartphone with them to the pool and take photos underwater, others have a smartphone that “sinks” in a glass of water and completely fails. Either there are some manufacturing defects and not all devices are sealed, or the flaw is present in the sealing itself and appears randomly. One way or another, we do not recommend relying on the water resistance of the Z3, Z3 Compact or any other modern smartphone, regardless of the level of IP certification. This is a compelling argument when choosing between two otherwise identical smartphones, but we do not recommend buying an expensive and supposedly waterproof smartphone specifically for underwater photography.

Sony claims that it has the ability to take data from numerous smartphone sensors and reliably determine the cause of the breakdown: if it meets the definition of “misuse”, then the warranty is considered violated. At the same time, the list also includes easily violated restrictions: for example, you should not dive with a smartphone deeper than the declared depth or keep it in chlorinated water for too long (for example, in a swimming pool). We highly recommend checking out Sony's listing on their website.

Today, people are divided into two categories: some crave devices with large screens, while others, remembering Steve Jobs’ commandments about the ideal diagonal of a smartphone, demand compact but powerful phones from manufacturers. At IFA 2014, Sony catered to everyone's needs. The Japanese showed not only the new flagship Z3, but also its smaller version Z3 Compact, which differs from its “big brother” only in dimensions (well, and some other small points). If you could already review the first one on our website, then we will get acquainted with the second one now. Make yourself comfortable!

Video review of Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

To begin with, I propose to understand the main differences between the Z3 and Z3 Compact. There are not so many of them anymore. It is clear that our today’s hero has lost a little in dimensions (64.9 x 127 x 8.6 mm versus 72 x 146 x 7.3 mm) and weight (129 grams versus 152 grams). The Z3 Compact is a little thicker, but that's logical. The battery in the Z3 is set at 3100 mAh, and in the Z3 Compact it is 2600 mAh. In the first case, 3 GB of RAM is available, in the second there is 1 GB less - 2 GB. Due to the smaller diagonal of the Z3 Compact (4.6 inches versus 5.2 inches), the resolution has also decreased: from Full HD to regular HD. That's it. Otherwise, these devices are identical, which is good news.

    Appearance

Externally, the Sony Xperia Z3 is similar to the company's previous models, so it will be difficult to confuse the device with solutions from other companies. But it's for the better. Personally, I like the design solutions of the Japanese over the past few years. For example, in our case, the smartphone has very thin side frames (they are also quite small at the top and bottom), so the 4.6-inch screen was placed in a body that is much smaller in size than competitors with a similar display diagonal.

Above the screen there was a place for the Sony logo, two sensors (lighting and proximity), a front camera and a speaker. Moreover, the latter has a twin brother, who is already located under the display. You understand that stereo sound in any device is always pleasant. By the way, about the sound. It is of very high quality and clean, but at maximum volume (this is especially noticeable in games), the smartphone begins to vibrate in your hands.

Exactly in the center of the right side, the engineers placed the power control key, which is made in the best traditions of Sony - round and silver. On the black version (there are also red, light green and white) it looks very impressive. Just below you can find a volume rocker. It has two features: it is small (on my Lumia 1520 the lock button is the same size) and it is located too close to the aforementioned power control key, so accidental presses cannot be avoided for the first few days. But then you get used to it. A two-position camera button is also present.

On the left everything is hidden behind plugs. Only a two-pin connector for connecting to the docking station in a visible place. Under the top “flap” you can find a microUSB connector and a slot for memory cards, and under the bottom there is a tray for SIM cards in Nano format. To be honest, opening the cap every time to charge a smartphone or transfer some data to a computer is not always convenient. Although security (according to the IP 65/68 standard) is never superfluous. But HTC, as we all know, does not believe that plugs are a mandatory parameter. , which is not afraid of water (IPX7), is a good example of this.

On the bottom edge, in addition to the microphone, you can also find a place for attaching a strap, and on the top there is an audio output and another microphone. The back panel, like the front, is covered with protected glass. There you can find the Sony logo, the inscription “Xperia”, the “N” icon, which indicates the location of the NFC chip and, of course, the main camera eye and flash. The Japanese are very proud of their camera, so they unobtrusively placed the “20.7 MP” mark next to it.

In general, the device can be safely given a solid “A” for its appearance, build quality and body materials. Nothing creaks or plays. The only problem is fingerprints. They are visible very well. Although this problem is solved in just a few seconds by a regular napkin. The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact feels great in the hands. However, I have to admit that it was difficult to get used to after my 6-inch Lumia 1520.

    Display

We figured out the display diagonal and its resolution at the very beginning of the review - 4.6 inches and 1280 x 720 pixels. There was no point in Full HD here, and the company did the right thing by not chasing dry numbers. HD is quite enough for such sizes that you cannot see individual pixels on the screen - 319 PPI. Glove control is provided, and up to 10 touches are supported simultaneously.

Everything is fine with viewing angles, maximum and minimum brightness, and font readability. The only thing worth understanding is that a small screen (although a few years ago a 4.6-inch smartphone seemed gigantic) means a small keyboard. When typing, you often press the wrong key. It would seem that this is also a matter of habit, but during the test I never managed to get the hang of it.

    Camera

The main camera received 20.7 MP, and the front camera received 2.2 MP. In terms of software, everything is pretty good (although, as we remember, this was not always the case; the company made a noticeable step only in its latest devices). There are a lot of modes here. The only funny thing is that the maximum quality (that is, 20 MP) can only be selected in manual mode; in the rest, 8 MP is used. Although let's face it, for most daily tasks this is sufficient. You can also shoot videos in 4K and broadcast live on YouTube. Bloggers, rejoice! Yulia spoke in more detail about the camera’s capabilities in her .

But, as they say, it’s better to watch once than to read seven times (or something like that). Here are some sample pictures:

I was very pleased with the quality of the pictures. Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is the case when 20-megapixel (and even 8-megapixel) quality is not a shame. It often happens that there seem to be a lot of megapixels, but the pictures are such that even on Instagram with one subscriber you can’t even raise your hand to upload them. But in our case everything is different. The camera is good. I would even say that it is very good.

    Features and software

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is a true flagship! Here you have a Snapdragon 801 (4 Krait 400 cores, 2.5 GHz), and 2 GB of RAM (we have already found out that the Z3 has 3 GB of RAM), and an Adreno 330 graphics accelerator. The smartphone copes with games and other demanding tasks excellent. This is quite expected, because such hardware, paired with a not very high resolution, is capable of a lot. Asphalt 8 starts with maximum graphics, and Dead Trigger 2, despite average parameters, does not slow down even in dynamic scenes (where everything explodes and crowds of zombies are running towards you). In various tests, the smartphone also showed its best side: 45 thousand in AnTuTu, 20 thousand in Quadrant and 19 thousand in 3DMark. During the entire time I tested the device, I did not notice any shortcomings even when flipping through desktops normally (although this is more likely a matter of proper optimization of the proprietary shell). The operating system used here is Android (wow, what a surprise!) version 4.4.4.

As for the built-in memory, there is 16 GB of it. MicroSD cards up to 128 GB are also supported. But autonomy is a completely different matter. The Sony smartphone is clearly one of the best in this regard. The thing is that the manufacturer managed to install a battery with a capacity of 2600 mAh in such a compact case. For example, the same battery is installed in, but there is already a Full HD screen. If we talk about the “lifetime” of the Xperia Z3 Compact, then the device will last one and a half or even two days. This is during normal use (social networks, email, a little YouTube, calls, e-reader). If you squeeze all the juice out of the phone (play games all the time, watch movies and all that), then the charge will last for 10 hours. There is also a STAMINA mode in the settings, which will make the Z3 Compact immortal. For example, at 32 percent, the program promises 7 hours of battery life, and when energy saving is activated, this figure increases to some sky-high indicators - 1 day and 16 hours!

All technical specifications look like this:

    • Dimensions: 64.9 x 127 x 8.6 mm.
    • Weight: 129 grams.
    • Operating system: Android 4.4.4.
    • Processor: quad-core Snapdragon 801 with a clock speed of 2.5 GHz.
    • Graphics: Adreno 330.
    • Display: IPS, 4.6 inches, 1280 x 720 pixels.
    • Memory: 16 GB + microSD slot.
    • RAM: 2 GB.
    • Camera: main - 20.7 MP, front - 2.2 MP.
    • Battery: 2600 mAh.

    In the end

The positioning of the phone fully explains its name. Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is not a mini version of the Xperia Z3 with simplified characteristics, but simply a compact version of it. Before us is a real flagship in a small package. He has very few controversial points. The only things I can complain about are the keys on the right side (they are located too close) and the price. If the amount of 490 dollars still sounds acceptable, then 13 thousand hryvnia or 32 thousand rubles is somehow too much (but the company itself is unlikely to be able to help customers in any way here). Otherwise, I really liked the smartphone: a high-quality camera, a good screen, a beautiful appearance, a powerful “filling” and a long life on a single charge. If you've been dreaming of a flagship device with a small screen for the last few years, then the Xperia Z3 Compact may be just about the only viable option.
