Internet Signal Booster REMO "Connect 2.0" is designed to provide stable Internet access via USB modems in areas of poor signal reception of GSM (GPRS/EDGE), 3G (HSDPA/HSUPA/WCDMA/HSPA+) and 4G (LTE/WiMax) networks.

The design of the device allows you to place the modem in the zone of the maximum level of the network signal, for example, near the window, as well as further amplify it (due to the formation of the radiation pattern). Using the device "Connect 2.0" you will be able to comfortably use the mobile Internet where access was previously difficult.

    Key features of the device:

    • Compatible with any USB modems.
    • Customizable for optimal performance.
    • The USB modem manufacturer's warranty is retained.
    • Reduces bad influence electromagnetic radiation.
    • Connection does not require intervention in the design of the USB modem.
    • Ability to work with equipment of any mobile operators and providers.
    USB modem not included.

In this article I will talk about five amplifiers for modems.

Signal amplifiers for USB modems have gained considerable popularity, for some subscribers it makes no sense at all to buy a modem without buying an amplifier. Read this article to the end and you will learn how to choose an amplifier in such a way that you do not overpay and not buy it a second time.

USB modems are very convenient devices that improve our life with you, though I think it's better to use, and you can also use it, but the choice is yours. Both modems and telephones have one significant drawback - small size. Often, due to the small size of the antenna in such equipment, problems arise:

    1. Doesn't pick up 3G signal.
    2. The signal drops out intermittently.
    3. The signal is stable, but extremely low speed on a USB modem.
    4. The signal is stable, but the speed "jumps", then high, then low.
    5. Etc. and so on. Problems.

As a rule, in most cases the problem is on the subscriber's side, but sometimes it happens that the problem is in the operator cellular communication. I will consider solving the problem only from the subscriber side. Pay attention to my technique, it gives the most accurate result.

So, what are the amplifiers for modems:

    1. USB extension cable or USB to USB extension cable. By itself, it does not provide signal amplification, but it allows you to position the USB modem in such a way that the received signal level will be much higher than usual. The recommended length of such an amplifier is 2-3 meters. Less is inconvenient, more is not enough voltage at the output of the extension cord, since the complete attenuation of the signal over USB wire about 10 meters. Therefore, already at five meters, the output voltage may not be enough to establish a connection to the network, the modem will simply “fall off” from the computer (as if you hadn’t plugged it into the computer, although in fact everything is in its place). In this case, additional power will help, namely, there are wires that have 2 USB input(you can plug both into the computer, you can 1 into the computer, the second into the adapter charger with USB output) and 1 USB output(for modem). In this case maximum length amplifier will increase by 70%. In most cases, 3 meters will suffice. USB cable as a signal amplifier. In this case, the active equipment (modem) should be located as high as possible and preferably outside the premises on the side of the residential building where the signal is better (be careful, weather conditions can damage the equipment). At USB installation modem directly into the computer, there is slight electromagnetic interference from the computer hardware. Using USB cord eliminates the influence of these interferences. As a result of using this amplifier, the signal really improves, becomes stable, the speed mobile internet increases.
    2. The next way to amplify the modem signal is provided by the design of the modem itself. 3G antennas. Look carefully at your USB modem if it has additional connectors in addition to connectors for SIM cards, SD card and USB input, then most likely you are lucky - this is a connector for an external USB amplifier modem (3G antennas). In this case, it is recommended to adhere to such a rule, the farther the subscriber's equipment is from base station the more dBi the antenna should have. The more dBi, the more accurately you need to adjust the position of the amplifier in order to “catch” the signal. Typically, such amplifiers are already equipped with a long wire up to 10-15 meters, which allows you to position the antenna as high as possible. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that it makes sense to place an amplifier at such a height above the ground only in case of a significant (10-35 km) distance from the nearest base station or in case of a significant elevation difference.

connect street mini internet signal amplifier, assembled on a wooden mast.

Which of the following modem amplifiers is the best?

In my opinion, option 3 - universal amplifiers are the best. Bright representative- connect street mini amplifier, gives amazing results, which I talked about in this.

      1. You can also measure the signal level of a 3G/4G modem Mobile program Data Monitoring Application (MDMA). You do not need to install it, just unzip and open the downloaded file, but before that you need to close the native program of the 3G / 4G modem. More on the situation.

      2. Advice is, of course, useless. I already know that closer to the window is usually better signal. Now, if they offered it as an antenna to reinforce soldering. To put on a 3G modem, for example, and the signal has improved.
And another question - how to make the signal level not jump?

      3. How to boost 3G modem signal?
Today, almost every laptop user has 3G modem because buy usb modem Today everyone can afford. This is a very convenient device that allows you to access the Internet anywhere in the city, and even beyond. I personally just need to use a 3G modem, since now I work on the Internet, and without global network just not anymore. How to solve the issue of signal amplification, if the connection is completely useless? There is an exit!

When I am outside the city, or in its "deaf zone", the modem starts to catch badly and the connection is constantly broken. And then a logical question arises about how to amplify the 3G modem signal? How to make a signal booster for a 3g modem yourself? (however, for 4G it will also work

The fact is that the speed of 3G Internet directly depends on the strength of the signal. In addition, if you are far from the transmitting station, then the 3G signal may not be available to you at all, and you will have to be content with slow GPRS or EDGE. Also, under heavy load, the transmitting station itself can reduce the signal power, so it happens that the signal, that is, completely disappears. How to do modem signal booster?

The easiest way is shown in the photo - buy a USB extension cable and throw the modem out the window. This method does not literally amplify the signal, but it can still very often solve the problem. The thing is that the walls of the house VERY strongly shield the signal, especially houses made of reinforced concrete. Therefore, such a simple solution can significantly improve the signal.

But not any USB extension cable will do, because with a long length of it, the signal will be strongly attenuated. The way out can be to buy THIS extension cord:

This is not a simple extension cord, it has a signal AMPLIFIER installed, so 5 meters in length is not an obstacle to good signal transmission. I recommend.

3G Signal Booster It can also be made from a regular pot lid. And it's not a joke. Look at the roofs of houses: you will see a lot of satellite dishes, which act on the principle of a kind of lens that focuses the signal to one point. Due to this, the signal strength increases by an order of magnitude. Why not apply the same principle to amplify a 3G modem signal?

How to boost 3G modem signal?

At one time I also suffered from the fact that the signal on my modem was very weak. Thinking before this simple solution, I began to experiment under the fervent laughter of my wife. It was funny to her how I, like a crazy professor, walked around the apartment with a saucepan lid and a laptop, trying to catch the coveted 3G signal. And I caught him. Then I found an ear warmer and table lamp, and made such a simple device out of them.

One person thought of the same thing as me (found a video on YouTube), but for some reason he claims that it only works well for him while lying down, as if he wants to amplify the 3G signal of the modem that it receives from space?

I don’t know, everything worked fine for me even in a standing state, because the towers are not in space, but on Earth, and you just need to correctly position the modem in relation to the dish and at the same time in the right direction. (sufficient precision is needed here)

        Do-it-yourself 3G modem signal amplifiers:

        1. Here are some village boys who made a 3g modem amplifier from a bowl

        2. And this is almost the same, only the amplifier is already made of a stainless bowl.

        3. And this is an amplifier for a 3G modem made of drushlak, original, as they say.

        4. And finally, an amplifier for a modem from a tin can. May be not the best option, but a little, yes, it enhances, I think

This is how craftsmen achieve signal amplification of a 3G modem, and as you can see amplify signal 3 ji modem can be done simply, cheaply and cheerfully, if you do not want or cannot buy an antenna for a 3G modem in a store.

      4. Antenna and signal amplifier

        Part I. Amplifier.

I stumbled on the Internet on "Internet Signal Amplifier "Connect"
According to the description gives 7-9 dB of gain.
Obvious advantages in small size, there is no need to interfere with the internal design of the modem.
Cons: Not all modems work on a cable of 3 or 5 meters. In winter, you can’t put it on the balcony.

Decided to try it myself. Made a prototype.

Of course, my design is different from the original, but the main thing is that it works.

In fact, this is just a collecting and focusing antenna. Collects the scattered signal and focuses it on the modem's receiving antenna.
I made the antenna from an old Pentium I case. The iron is strong enough, but also soft enough for bends and cuts.
The width and height of the mirror are written in the TX of the factory antenna, the rest was finalized by myself, “by eye”.
        Actually the drawing itself:

In real life and from different angles, it looks like this:

        Now to the tests:
The tests were carried out in a room.
The modem lies on a stool, the signal level is 85-87dB for EDGE, 95-97dB for UMTS:
Mounted the antenna in the same place. After selecting the focal length from the modem to the mirror, the signal increased on EDGE, on UMTS up to 85-87dB!!!

There is an increase in the signal. As a result, the stability of work on the Internet has increased, lags due to network failure have stopped.
        Cable Defender 2.0. Three meters.
Tried with modems Huawei E1750, E160, ZTE MF626 and MF627.
On Huawei modems the signal rose on UMTS to 83dB. On ZTE, the maximum gave out on UMTS up to 85dB.

A few more photos of the antenna with the modem installed.
The photo shows the first version of the antenna. Now it is slightly altered and given to other people for use.
The second version, modified, is posted above.

        Part II. 3G antenna.

On one site I came across a description of the simplest 3G antenna, the so-called "butterfly" converted to the 3G frequency.

After simple manipulations, we get the finished product.

        The manufacturing process itself:

You will need a regular 75 ohm satellite antenna cable.
We take the central core of the cable, 320 mm long, completely clear it of insulation and bend it as in the photo.
We bend the "butterfly" as in the drawing.

We prepare a fastening connection from a piece of cable and an F-connector

Carefully solder the free ends to the body of the F-connector, and the central core to the middle of the bend.

        We get such a "butterfly"

Fill the place of soldering with hot-melt adhesive and with the help of heating with a gas burner we will make reliable protection from moisture at the junction, and paint the antenna itself with spray paint.
        The antenna is ready!
