• What is the difference between a compatible cartridge and an original one?

Hello! There are a lot of misunderstandings when it comes to Korean remedies. To the best of my ability and ability, I try to repeat every time about the features of this or that product, but every time the same questions appear from girls who came to the page for the first time, or simply inattentively read what was already written.

Therefore, such different concepts as Toner, Essence and Emulsion are often confused. And the point is not at all that the consistency is similar, the point is also that the situation is changing quickly, and Korean manufacturers are producing products that are almost impossible to distinguish even by functionality.

In this article I will tell you what the difference is, whether it is now possible - in our reality - to replace one remedy with another, and how to combine them with each other for greater effectiveness.

But everything flows and changes - Korean girls have long adopted the method of applying toner using cotton puffs - first they actually wipe their face with them, and then, completely soaked, they “stick” to the cheeks, forehead, chin for a couple of minutes. And the wolves are fed, and the sheep are safe. Considering the volume of an average toner is 120-150 ml, even with obscene consumption, you will have it for at least six months.

Toners are different - although they are not completely independent care, they are aimed at helping to reduce oiliness (mattifying), moisturizing (moisturizing), antibacterial (AC Control), nourishing (Nourishing), vitamin. Which one to choose is up to you.

For example, you won’t get proper hydration from toner alone, but it will be a piece of the overall puzzle.

Is it possible to ignore toner in care? Can it be removed from your list? No. This is definitely a product that should be in your morning and evening routine.

Essence is one of the three “vitamin whales”. If the toner was a preparation, then the essence is intended for an intensive effect on the skin while solving certain problems of your skin. For example, whitening or anti-redness essence. Or an essence with Asian centella for regeneration.

In fact, the trifecta “essence - serum - ampoule” is three different shapes skin vitaminization. They perform the same functions, but with different intensity.

Essence It almost always has a liquid and light watery texture, and the concentration of benefits in it is the smallest of the above. That is why it is preferred by girls who do not agree with stickiness, thick gel substances and fuss with pipettes. It can often be confused with toner, because they are similar in appearance.

Serum (Serum) - a story about a thicker, more viscous liquid. The concentration of substances in it is higher. But it is not at all necessary that the whey will look like jam - there are also very light options.

WITH ampoule products (Ampoule) everything is even more complicated - they can be either syrupy or frankly jelly-like in their thickness. Previously, it was possible to determine an ampoule product by its price - ampoules were more expensive, and the concentration of useful substances in them was the highest. Now, with the advent of products like “All in One Ampoule” (for example,) - when a 250 ml jar contains a universal product that replaces toner, ampoule and gel, it has become much more difficult to understand its value. Therefore, if you want truly ampoule products, look for those sold in disposable packages. For example, 7 ampoules of 4 ml each are those real, super-concentrated ampoules.

But let's get back to the essences. Thanks to their aqueous texture and lightness of vitamins, they can be used daily, both morning and evening. Moreover, as I described in the article “The 7 Layer Method”, in Korea there is a fashion for moisturizing the skin with just toner and essence.

When not to use : if you don't need additional options, if you do not have skin problems and you only need hydration.

When is it worth doing? : if you don’t want too dramatic changes, and the condition of your skin basically satisfies you, but you want to improve it a little

Is it possible to skip this stage in your care: Yes, you can, without any consequences or remorse.

My favorite essence, which I don’t want to change for anything yet, is the silk facial essence.

Thus, you can structure your care as follows:

Toner - essence - emulsion (+ cream): for a full care cycle

Toner (2-4 layers) - essence (2-4 layers): light and vitamin hydration with aqueous textures

Toner - emulsion (+ cream): moisturizing without vitaminization

In all cases, these layouts will be correct, and which one to choose depends on your skin.

Multifunctionality modern technology from year to year the number of its admirers and potential consumers increases. Unfortunately, the purchase does not provide the opportunity to know it thoroughly and understand it competently. Very often you can hear formulations - I need to refill the toner, replace the cartridge. In fact, the cartridge must be refilled, and the toner is filled with a special mixture. Most people don’t notice the difference and don’t attach any importance to it. So what is the difference between a toner and a cartridge?

    Main distinctive characteristics

Let's start with the fact that the toner and cartridge are parts of a single process and are interconnected with each other, and also belong to the category consumables. Toner is considered to be a banal refill powder mixture used in cartridges laser printers.

A toner cartridge can be described as a tube that contains the mixture described above. This neighborhood also includes a rubberized shaft, which ensures a uniform supply directly to the photo shaft.

The next representative is the printer itself, which is a consumable part of the printer and can be removed if necessary. Absolutely all printers have cartridges that differ in operating principle and design. Its interior implies the presence of either an ink ribbon, ink or toner.

At this stage, a counter question may arise - what is the difference between a drum cartridge and a toner cartridge? First of all, the drum cartridge is one of the components of the cartridge. Speaking accessible language, the cartridge contains two main components:

    • Toner tube (toner cartridge) – container for powder mixture;
    • The drum cartridge is the place where the parts responsible for carrying out the process of supplying refilled material are located.

The essence of the difference between a cartridge and a toner

We draw attention to the essential points that determine the difference between toner and cartridge:

    1. There are fundamental differences between the toner and the cartridge, but they cannot exist separately, since one (toner) is a component that ensures printing, and the second (cartridge) is a link without which the entire process is impossible.
    2. Replacing a cartridge is commonplace; refilling toner is a process associated with a violation of the rights of the manufacturer.
    3. Significant difference in cost.
    4. The cartridge can be replaced by the owner and does not require specific knowledge; only qualified service center personnel can replace the toner.
    5. The drum cartridge is unique to laser printers and is designed for light loads. It is practically impossible to refill, and if the toner runs out, it can block the operation of the printing device.

I am sure that having become acquainted with Korean cosmetics, you have a question about what is the difference between a toner and a toner. Let's try to understand this issue?

Sometimes the word toner is just a translation of the word “Tonic” into English language. In this case there is no difference between . This is a tonic in our usual understanding.
It's a different matter when it comes to a fundamentally new skin care product. Why is it important? The thing is that tonic and toner are products from different skin care systems - European and Asian.

IN European system basic care tonic is the completion of skin cleansing. Tonic washes away the remnants of skin cleansing products, it tones the skin and cleanses it as much as possible. The main difference between tonic and toner is texture. Tonic is liquid, like water.
But the toner is created not for cleansing, but for moisturizing.

It is the toner that moisturizes very well; it contains a lot of moisturizing components. Toner - in other words, it can be called a semi-cream. This is the first and most important step in moisturizing the skin after cleansing. Toner is the product that needs to be applied in the first 3 seconds after washing. At the same time, it does not need to be wiped or blotted.
Toner can be of different consistencies - it can be a little thicker than water or a gel consistency. The toner is applied only with your hands, patting movements, no cotton pads. Mist toners are sprayed into a fine mist so it can be applied quickly to the entire face.

Koreans believe that after washing, the skin very quickly begins to lose moisture; within 30 seconds the skin becomes 50% dehydrated. Therefore, Korean women have learned to quickly apply toner to their skin. Maybe we can try too?

The toner nourishes the skin with valuable substances, deeply moisturizes the skin and protects it from moisture loss, prepares it for the application of other cosmetics. The toner also helps the active ingredients of the main product used in the next stage of facial care to penetrate into the skin. Many creams contain moisture-retaining components and when applied to toner they actually work better. For example, products with hyaluronic acid. If you apply them to dry skin, there will be no water to hold them. The toner acts as a source of water molecules.
The beauty secret of Korean women is moisturized skin. And that's right. Water is life. Otherwise, enlarged pores, uneven complexion, and wrinkles appear. That's why it's so important at the washing stage.

    Classmates

In Russia there is no unified terminology related to consumables. As a result, many users confuse original and licensed cartridges, remanufactured and counterfeit cartridges, recycled and refilled cartridges, although the difference between them is obvious. The substitution of concepts and confusion in the field of consumables determined the relevance of this article, which presents adequate definitions of the main types of cartridges. For ease of perception, the names of the cartridges are arranged in alphabetical order.

Remanufactured cartridge– this is a cartridge that has worked completely life cycle(several refills), and then underwent comprehensive maintenance (restoration), including diagnostics, cleaning of parts, replacement of the microchip, photoconductor and worn parts, and refilling with high-quality toner. Remanufactured cartridges can be sold either in the original packaging marked “refurbished” or in packaging with the logo of the company that remanufactured them. Print quality of remanufactured cartridges is lower than print quality original cartridges. Each subsequent cartridge restoration will cost more than the previous one. Each cartridge can withstand from 3 to 5 refills, after which it must be completely recycled.

Demo cartridge– comes complete with a new printer or copier. It usually has a small resource, designed for approximately 700 copies. Demo cartridges cannot be refilled and block printing after the toner runs out. They are also called starter or demo.

Drum cartridge- this is a device for a laser printer, copier or multifunctional device, which includes a photodrum, a cleaning system, and in some cases a waste toner bin. It is also called a copy cartridge.

Refilled cartridge– this is a cartridge in which fresh toner is poured into the hopper after the toner runs out. It usually prints a little worse than the original one. The print quality of a refilled cartridge depends on the condition of its parts and the quality of the toner used when refilling. Ideally, refilling a cartridge should be accompanied by complete cleaning, removing residual toner from the hopper, washing parts using special solutions. In practice, many workshops limit themselves to cleaning parts from residual toner and refilling the cartridge with new toner. Refilled cartridges are also called refilled cartridges.

Cartridge– this is the main replaceable unit of a laser printer or copier, filled with printing powder (toner) and equipped with special mechanisms and devices for transferring toner to paper. The cartridge consists of two parts held together by pins. The first part includes a hopper with waste toner, a squeegee, a corotron and a photodrum; the second part includes a container with toner, a magnetic roller and a dosing blade.

Copy cartridge- this is a device for a laser printer, copier or multifunctional device, which includes a photodrum, a cleaning system, and in some cases a waste toner bin. A copy cartridge is also called a drum cartridge.

Licensed cartridge is a cartridge made third party company under a license obtained from the manufacturer of office equipment. The production of licensed cartridges is not economically profitable, since in addition to the costs of producing cartridges, the manufacturing company spends additional funds to purchase a license. Therefore, licensed cartridges can rarely be found on the consumables market.

Waste cartridge is a cartridge that has partially or completely lost its functions. Used cartridges should not be thrown into household waste bins, as the plastic from which they are made takes almost 200 years to decompose. Therefore, the owner of a used cartridge must make one of the following decisions: a) refill the cartridge (if it has run out of toner); b) restore the cartridge (if any of its parts have failed); c) dispose of the cartridge (if it cannot be restored and its parts are completely worn out).

Original cartridges- These are cartridges manufactured by printer and copier manufacturers specifically for their printing devices. Original cartridges are manufactured by the same companies that made the printing devices. It is believed that for Canon printers the optimal consumables are original Canon cartridges, For Epson printers– original Epson cartridges, etc. Original cartridges are produced by such world-famous companies as Xerox, HP, Canon, Epson, Brother, Panasonic, Lexmark, Samsung etc. In most cases, original cartridges cost almost as much as the devices themselves.

Refilled cartridge– this is a cartridge in which fresh toner is poured into the hopper after the toner runs out. The refilled cartridge prints slightly worse than the original. The print quality of a refilled cartridge depends on the condition of its parts and the quality of the toner used when refilling. Ideally, refilling a cartridge should be accompanied by its complete cleaning, removal of residual toner from the hopper, and washing of parts using special solutions. In practice, many workshops limit themselves to cleaning parts from residual toner and refilling the cartridge with new toner. Refilled cartridges are also called refilled cartridges.

Recycled cartridge– cartridge made from recycled plastic. In accordance with the current Russian legislation Used laser cartridges must not be disposed of in household waste containers. Such cartridges are subject to recycling (complete recycling), during which they are sorted, cleaned of toner, and separated into plastic and metal components. The plastic body of the cartridge is melted down, resulting in 1 kg of plastic. It is from this plastic mass that new cartridges are made. Most cartridges can be remelted up to 6 times.

Fake cartridges– these are cartridges manufactured by unscrupulous third-party companies that completely imitate branded packaging, color and marking of the original cartridge, and act on behalf of, but without the knowledge of, its manufacturers, and at the same time do not bear responsibility for their products. Counterfeit cartridges are sold at prices that are an order of magnitude cheaper than the prices of original cartridges. The only way to insure yourself against counterfeiting is to purchase consumables from authorized representatives of the manufacturers of original consumables.

Print cartridge- this is a separate unit of the printer or copier, which includes the most quickly wearing parts: the development unit, toner and, in some cases, the photodrum and its cleaning system.

Compatible Cartridge- This is an analogue of the original cartridge, manufactured by a third-party company that has a license to produce consumables. The name “compatible cartridges” speaks for itself: these are consumables that are ideal for the printers and copiers for which they were designed. Unlike remanufactured and refilled cartridges, compatible cartridges are completely new products containing new, unworn parts and components. Compatible cartridges are cheaper than original ones, but more expensive than remanufactured ones. They are also called analog or universal.

Toner cartridge is a replacement unit for laser printers and copiers, which is a tube (can) filled with toner. The toner cartridge consists of a toner hopper and a waste toner hopper. The main function of a toner cartridge is to store toner. The toner cartridge also has other names: toner tube, toner kit, toner tube.

Chip cartridge is a laser cartridge with a built-in chip (microcircuit) capable of storing information about the number of printed pages and the toner level in the hopper. Chips laser cartridges lead countdown pages printed by the cartridge. After the counter reaches zero, the chip blocks the operation of the cartridge. Chip cartridges are the response of manufacturers of original consumables to companies that recycle original cartridges. Chipping cartridges makes them difficult to refill. To refill a chipped cartridge, you must either reprogram the chip or replace it with a new one.

The skincare cosmetics market is expanding day by day: long-familiar products are being improved, and fundamentally new products are storming store shelves. And if we have already managed to get used to the variety of tonics, then about what a toner is and what the essence is for, where there are so many of them, “isn’t this the same thing?” and in general “do I need it?” still have to think about it! Today we will dedicate a post to these products and there will be no questions left at all :)

Tonic -means, the purpose of which is to balance the acidity (PH) of the skin after washing with soap or other cleanser.

Surprised? Yes, this is indeed an absolutely complete definition. No, the word “tonic” is not at all derived from the word “tonicize”! It is only needed to return the pH of the skin after alkaline cleansing. That's all! You shouldn’t expect any care qualities from it, no matter what the packaging says!

But, in fact, why return the pH level?
The pH balance of human skin is from 3 to 7, the pH of facial skin ranges from 5.2–5.7 units. If tightness and dryness are your faithful companions, then most likely the pH of your skin tends to be alkaline. The other extreme is increased acidity, when there is oily shine and acne on the face, and skin sensitivity increases.
Actually, tonic helps us not to dry out the skin due to the aggressive effects of soap substances.
Tonic is not the quintessence of skincare, and it’s only a stretch to call it a skincare product, but as a separate stage of a beauty ritual it is quite justified. I don’t recommend skipping it!
But if the toner returns the pH to normal, why do the rest of the care?
Everything is very simple: the toner works on the skin for just a couple of minutes, as a preparatory stage before the next one, i.e. without further remedies, everything will return to normal in a moment. There's another one nice bonus. Many creams contain moisture-retaining ingredients that act like a sponge that retains water, and when applied over a toner they actually work better. For example, products with glycerin or hyaluronic acid. If you apply them to dry skin, there will be no water to retain and they will produce reverse effect. Tonic can act as a source of water molecules. But why can’t you just apply cream to damp skin? It's simple: the pH of tap water is far from the pH of your facial skin.

Conventionally, essences or toners can be included in the same category - thick moisturizing tonics that came to us from a 5-step system for cleansing facial skin. However, they are not an intermediate, but a completely independent stage of care and are able to moisturize, nourish, protect and smooth the skin, and we’ll talk about them further.

Toner (Freshner/Skin/Toner) — This is a cosmetic product with a liquid texture that has a tonic effect on the skin. The toner gives the skin cells pre-hydration before applying the cream. The toner is also a conductor of the active components of the main product used in the next stage of facial care.

As already noted, there are 3 types of toners:

—Freshner— has the lightest weightless texture and is applied to the face using a cotton pad. A small alcohol content is acceptable. Freshner refreshes and tones the skin.
    - Skin - as well as freshner, which is quite light in texture. Can be applied to the face using either a cotton pad or fingertips. The skin moisturizes the skin and gives a comfortable, soothing feeling.
Toner - can often have a gel-like texture. The most convenient way to apply toner is with your hands - lightly patting your fingertips. The toner refreshes, moisturizes the skin, and also contains active nutritional components.

When applying them, you must use the three-second rule: the level of skin moisture after washing sharply decreases. After only 3
seconds, the skin loses about 30% of moisture. Those. within the first seconds after cleansing
Skin procedures need to be moisturized, otherwise the skin dries out and becomes susceptible to aging.

Essence- a conductor created with the goal of facilitating the penetration of basic care components into the deeper layers of the epidermis, as well as their better absorption by skin cells.

The essence in its composition and action is very similar to the usual serums (serums) for the face. However, essence, serum can be called very nominally.

The texture of the essence is oil-free, which means that it is lighter, but the effectiveness does not suffer from this. The concentration of beneficial substances is superior to cream and not inferior to serums, but the effect of the essence is more universal, while the action of serums is most often aimed at solving specific skin problems (wrinkles, acne, dryness and flaking of the skin, etc.). But at the same time, the essence, like serums, enhances the effect of the products applied after: emulsion and cream.

You shouldn’t rush to apply the essence, like you would with a toner, for example: the product is applied to your palms, warmed up a little with the warmth of your hands, and then you are instructed not to rub it over your face, but to gently “drive it in.” And you need to do at least 100 such “pats”!

I’m a pity for time, and I really, really want perfect skin like Korean women. An eternal dilemma, but the choice is yours) And we have selected for you the best means from the above:
