• How to sync Outlook and Google calendar. Setting up Outlook mail on mobile devices

    Now almost every user has a Google account, since it gives large number benefits on the Internet, especially for users Chrome browser. The vast majority of computers have the Windows operating system installed and the majority of users use the built-in Windows utility for working with contacts, mail and reminders - Microsoft Outlook. A logical question arises: how can these two services be “friended” with each other? It is very convenient when it becomes possible to create events and activities in the calendars of other services via Outlook. In this article, we'll take a closer look at how to synchronize Outlook with other calendars. Let's figure it out. Let's go!

    Outlook has a very convenient calendar. But sometimes you may need to synchronize it with others

    First, it should be noted that synchronization will be one-way, that is, events from Outlook will not be synchronized with Google calendar.

    Before setting up synchronization, you need to log into your Google account and go to the Calendar service. In the menu on the left, find the line corresponding to the name of your account and click on the arrow icon next to it. In the list that appears, click on “Calendar Settings”.

    Log into your Outlook account and open your calendar. Go to the Import tab located in the control panel at the top. On the page that appears, select “Subscribe”. You will see a field to enter “Calendar URL”. It is in this field that you need to paste the previously copied link. Next, enter a name for this calendar, select the color you like from those offered and click the “Subscribe” button. Ready.

    Now all necessary information from Google Calendar will appear in Outlook program. Also in Windows calendar you will be able to see all the events that you have added to Google Calendar. Setting up such interaction between two platforms can significantly simplify work with events and activities, increase efficiency and speed of work, and save time. However, there is one significant drawback. Data is updated once a day, so the added event will appear in Outlook only after some time. Be sure to take this fact into account.

    It is also possible to synchronize Outlook calendar from VKontakte. This will be very convenient for those users who are afraid to forget about the birthday of friends, acquaintances, relatives or colleagues. This is done very simply. First you need to go to the website (http://rreverser.com/dev/vkcal.htm) and enter your authorization data for VKontakte. Be careful when entering your username and password on unknown sites. If any web page makes you suspicious or worried, it is better not to enter anything. To somehow secure your VKontakte account, change your password after completing the operation. After that, below you will see the text that needs to be saved with the extension “.ics”. If you can’t do this, just copy it into the Notepad utility and save it as a normal text file, and then change the extension to “.ics”.

    Next, log into your Outlook account and create a new calendar by going to the appropriate section. Click on the “Import” button and select “Import to an existing calendar”. Next, click on the “Select file” button and specify the path to the ics file you saved in the previous steps. The parameters can be left as default. Click on the “Save” button. You can now synchronize your account.

    I once wrote about... Then I told only about one program. In fact, there are many similar programs and this article is about them.

    This program has two versions: free and $9.99. Windows and Mac supported.

    Both versions are available in a “portable” version. In the paid version you will receive:

    • two-way synchronization;
    • the ability to synchronize only upcoming events;
    • customizable date periods for synchronization;
    • excluding events from synchronization;
    • autostart;
    • no restrictions on the synchronization period.

    Both versions include the ability to select Google Calendars to sync, support for reminders, recurring events, auto-sync, and more.

    It was this program that I chose to solve the problem of synchronizing Outlook and Google. The program is also available in free and paid versions. Only Windows is supported and there is a “portable” version.

    • support for all versions of Outlook;
    • synchronization of all types of Google Calendars;
    • two-way synchronization;
    • support for comments, reminders and other event content;
    • fine-tuning synchronization parameters.

    Calendar Sync+ is the only one free program on the list. The program is in the beta stage of development, but it can already synchronize several calendars, including reminders, etc. (in both directions). There are not as many “tricks” here as the competitors, but the basic functionality is there.

    Probably the most interesting program of all. gSyncit can synchronize Outlook not only with Google, but also with other services:

    • Google
    • Toodledo
    • Todoist
    • Evernote
    • Simplenote
    • Nozbe
    • Pocket Informant Online
    • CalDav
    • CardDav

    But the price of the program is not small - $15.99. Like other programs, it supports two-way synchronization, synchronization of reminders, comments, attachments, participants and much more.

    Other options

    Users Google Apps or Microsoft Exchange can take advantage of native synchronization. But these methods are well described in Google and they are not suitable for ordinary users.

    Outlook and Gmail calendar synchronization

    Someone recently asked me: Will I be able to integrate Gmail contacts and calendars in Outlook 2016/2013/2019?

    My answer was: Of course you can!

    synchronize outlook with google calendar

    But first things first. Let's start with the fact that Google Gmail This cloud service provided by the company Google that is not associated with a corporation Microsoft. Therefore, a logical question arises: should we expect Google Apps Sync to have a synchronization function with Microsoft Outlook? Even if such a function exists, Google products still have limitations in working with Outlook.

    It should also be noted that Google allows only users Google Apps use the application ActiveSync by synchronization, not ordinary users Gmail account.

    But I will say that syncing your Gmail contacts and calendars with Outlook is very easy. You don't even have to think about it. However, both Google and Microsoft make money from this. Which leads to the following: Will they provide such services for free?

    synchronization of outlook and google calendar eco

    'Cause I'll tell you about EVO Collaborator for Outlook which I mentioned. ECO is an Outlook plugin for open protocol CarDAV And CalDAV. I would like to immediately note that the size of this plugin is only 3 megabytes. And it's amazing how collaboration Outlook 2016 with the ECO plugin breaks the barriers between MS and Google for synchronizing contacts and calendars using CalDAV and CardDAV or similar protocols.

    But first, let's figure out what it is CardDAV and CalDAV protocols

    CardDAV And CalDAV- standard open API protocols from IETF’s RFC for synchronizing contacts and calendars. And Google uses APIs extensively in its products, including for Contacts and Calendars, so that users can use all the functionality.

    Now let's move on to how to synchronize Gmail and other contacts and calendars with mail client Outlook effortlessly.

    1. First, download the ECO plugin from the official EVO website. Please note that when you install the plugin, you must be logged in as an administrator.

    2.After installing the plugin, open Microsoft Outlook 2019/2016/2013. In the main menu bar located at the top of the Outlook 2013 window, click on the EVO tab that appears. Next, click on “Profile Settings”

    3.In the window that appears, click “Gmail - not configured”.

    4. On the right in the “Full name of the email address” line, enter your Gmail address and click "Test". A window will appear Google authentication prompting you to enter a password. After entering your password, click that you accept the terms of the agreement and close the window.

    5. Click "Accept" and "Close"

    When finished, any added or updated contacts, calendars and tasks in the Gmail folder will be synchronized two-way with MS Outlook. For example, added contacts on your Android phone will be synchronized with Outlook 2019. The same applies to calendars.

    In addition, since CardDAV and CalDAV are generally accepted standards, you can do the same operation with iCloud, Yahoo! account, OwnCloud and many other services that support these protocols.

      Are phone calendar events added to the Outlook calendar? For events from your device calendar to appear in your Outlook calendar, they must be added through an account that has been synced with Outlook. It's no secret that most people use smartphones on operating system Android. All data, mail, documents, books and calendar data are synchronized with your Google account. That is, the same calendar can be opened in a browser and edits can be made, which will immediately be displayed on our smartphone.

    In Windows 8 (8.1, 10) there are great apps, capable of notifying the user about certain events, messages, etc. I really like the calendar, but for it to work correctly we need an account in postal service Microsoft - Hotmail. We can create events, activities, and specify durations. Everything is the same as with the Google analogue.

    But how can we transfer data from Google calendar to our Hotmail (Outlook) account? How to synchronize them? Indeed, in everyday life this will make it easier to perform and control a number of tasks. And it's very easy to do.

    I warn you in advance that the interface may change since the publication of the material, but the settings should not undergo structural changes.

    We proceed step by step:

    That's it. Data from Google calendar will now appear in our calendar in Hotmail (Outlook). The Windows Calendar application will display all the events that we have created (and will create) using Android smartphone or the browser version of Google Calendar.

    This greatly simplifies the work and allows you to synchronize data between two different platforms.

    The only drawback will be the speed of data update. It is low and occurs once a day. This means that an event created in Google calendar will appear in the Hotmail (Outlook) calendar in best case scenario in an hour or two. And this must be taken into account. But this is the only way to significantly simplify your work and daily life, especially if you have a lot of recurring events on your calendar that you shouldn’t forget about.
