• How to recover a hard drive after a quick format. How to recover data after formatting a flash drive and disk

Quite often, PC users are faced with an unpleasant situation when they need to restore deleted files from the hard drive that were erased by mistake or accident. The system marks such data as “zero”, after which other information can be written on top of it. When recording other data, when the user fills the free disk space, the original files will be lost forever.

Therefore, today we will tell you how to recover data from a hard drive or flash drive and whether it is possible not to lose it forever!

What not to do and what is better to do:

    • Under no circumstances should you install programs or save files to the disk on which the deleted files were located - this will increase the chances of their successful recovery.
    • For further work It is recommended to use an external drive.

You can turn to specialists to extract data, but their work is usually too expensive. Doing the restoration yourself is also quite possible. In order not to encounter this problem, read about what may indicate that.

    Programs for recovering deleted files

    R.Saver

Eat special programs to recover deleted files, the best one is R.Saver. For the most part, these programs are suitable not only for working with computer disks, but also for external media. You can download the program to recover deleted files using the button below

There is a possibility that the information will only be partially restored, but you will have to come to terms with this. To get the best results from the program, you should install it on an external drive, run it from there and follow the instructions.

Free, but very effective program R.Saver can:

    • recover deleted files from a flash drive or disk;
    • carry out reconstruction of damaged file systems;
    • return data after formatting;
    • recover deleted files using signatures.

At the end there will be a list of other programs for recovering deleted files from your computer.

We will check how R.Saver recovers files after standard removal from the storage medium. To do this, let's take an ordinary USB flash drive with the NTFS file system, create a separate folder on it, save several different documents into it, and then delete them.

In the main program window, call context menu and select “Search for lost data.”

In the next window, click “No”, since we deleted the data manually and not by formatting.

We wait until the scanning process is completed.

After scanning we will see remote folder, and inside it are our documents.

Determine the save location, click “Select”.

    That's all.

    Recuva

One of the most promising products. The program is free, Russified and does not cause any difficulties in learning.

Recuva will find deleted files from your computer or external media and immediately resuscitate them. After downloading and installing it on your computer or external drive, you should do the following:

    • After starting the recovery wizard, mark all the data that should be restored;
    • Mark the section or folder where the lost data was;
    • After this, scanning of the marked folders and searching for deleted files begins. Longer in time, but showing best results, there will be an in-depth scanning function;
    • Recuva will then retrieve the lost data from your hard drive or external storage device. For external media, the sequence of actions will be the same as for a hard drive;
    • The program highlights different colors all the data found. Green - which were completely removed, yellow - which were partially restored, red - which remained deleted with the loss of all information.

At the final stage, you need to mark the folder where all the files will be saved.

    R-Studio

Paid, but professional program. In demo mode, it allows you to recover documents no larger than 256 KB in size. Will return everything accidentally lost or missing after formatting or virus attack data from hard drive or removable media. The list of supported versions includes all popular versions of Windows.

Practical interface and advanced functionality with additional features will delight the most demanding users. How to recover deleted files from using R-Studio- the algorithm of actions after downloading will be as follows:

    • In the main R-Studio window, you need to select the disk/partition from which recovery will be performed and click “Scan”.

    • After scanning, you need to click “Show disk contents”, mark everything that can be recovered, and then click “Recover those marked...”

The program will be able to bring back to life not only individual documents, but also entire partitions on the hard drive.

    Starus File Recovery

Program for short time find and return missing data to your computer or external media. It is shareware.

    • Before starting the search, you will need to install Starus File Recovery and start scanning from the place where the data was deleted.
    • After recovery, when the user is shown a message about a successful operation, the program will offer the function preview for sorting.
    • Mark necessary files and a place to save them. You can write data to a CD, flash drive, virtual image or (if large quantities information) send via FTP connection.

    Have a great day!

Have you ever formatted hard drive, and then bite your elbows: “Why did I do that?” But do not despair: recovering files after formatting is possible, although many people think that this procedure completely destroys the data.

However, it is not always possible to return data from a formatted disk or partition - for example, after repeated overwriting. But first things first.

How to recover data after formatting: contents

We will need a program to recover files after formatting the disk Auslogics File Recovery. It will help solve the problem quickly enough. Let's list key functions Auslogics File Recovery programs that will help restore a formatted disk and its contents:

    • Auslogics File Recovery includes a formatted partition recovery wizard. Select the disks you want to scan, specify file types, modification time, time interval - this way you can quickly recover data after formatting.
    • Sort results using advanced filters. The process of returning the necessary files is quite convenient; there is no need to wade through hundreds of files if you can simply set a filter by file type.
    • Support for major file systems. Works with popular file systems including NTFS, Fat16/32 and exFat.
    • after formatting from remote partitions of a flash drive or HDD. One of the key points of the application. File Recovery can find information from your hard drive, allowing you to recover files even if they were moved or lost due to formatting.

Instructions on how to recover a formatted disk using Auslogics File Recovery

To begin recovery, download the program from the official website and install it on your computer.

Warning! Do not use the formatted disk you are going to scan for installation!

Step 1: Select a formatted drive for recovery

Let's look at two working ways to recover data after formatting. First scenario: the hard drive or flash drive has been formatted. Open the Auslogics File Recovery program, see in the left panel the area for selecting disks to scan. Select the formatted drive from the list.

Step 2: Selecting the types of data removed when formatting partitions

Next, we select the types of data that we want to find and restore after formatting. If you can accurately determine the data type, the task at the first stage is simplified (although you will then need to use a recovery results filter). Auslogics File Recovery searches for pictures, music, videos, documents, software. Thus, you can specify one of the specified formats or select the “Search all file types” option. On the one hand, this will slow down the search, on the other hand, there is a high probability that the Auslogics File Recovery program will detect lost information. In addition, after formatting, the file table of the disk may not have extension information.

Step 3. Data recovery after formatting: set search conditions on the disk

Let's move on. In the Auslogics File Recovery application, it makes sense to specify the search by indicating the date of modification of the files on the source - a flash drive or hard drive. If the files on the disk have changed in certain time, specify the time range. Again, this will speed up searching for files in AF Recovery and make sorting easier.

Selecting a time range in Auslogics File Recovery

Step 4: Advanced file search options in Auslogics File Recovery

It is advisable to activate the “Perform deep scan” option in the program. The search speed will noticeably decrease both on the flash drive and on fast SSD drive. The remaining options can be left as is. Next, click the “Search” button.

Additional options scanning a formatted hard drive

As a result, you will receive a list of found files. Next we produce file recovery after formatting in Auslogics File Recovery.

Step 5. View search results when recovering files

Viewing search results in the Auslogics File Recovery window

As you can see in the screenshot, most of the recovered files on the hard drive have lost their original header. At the same time, for searching and correctness, you can use preview and browsing by headers - which is useful in the most difficult situations, when the file is only partially accessible.

In the program settings (menu Tools - Settings...) it is also useful to activate the Restore damaged files option, it allows you to scan damaged files(which often happens with recovered data after formatting).

Recovering files after deleting or formatting a partition

Another situation happens when you deleted a partition and created another one in its place. In fact, such deleted data can also be attributed to formatting, since the data was not physically deleted, but overwritten with other information.

So let's get down to business. Go to Tools – Search for lost partitions.

Finding lost partitions on your hard drive after formatting them in the Auslogics File Recovery application

In the Auslogics File Recovery program window that appears (in Russian), you need to specify the disk to search for deleted partitions and the scanning range to recover data. As a result, a list will be available that will subsequently be displayed at the bottom of the list of all disks in the main program window. You can work with these sections in a similar way to the steps above, scanning them for the necessary information.

Resume. Thus, we explained how to recover files after formatting using the example of the wonderful Auslogics File Recovery utility. If you have any questions about its use, do not hesitate to ask them through the form feedback on the website.

    Answers to readers' questions

Hello! I recently decided to format my flash drive (transcend 16gb) to NTFS from FAT32 on Windows XP. Standard way: in Device Manager - Policy - indicated Optimize device, then formatted it, well, as expected. After that, my flash drive began to take a very long time to load (about half an hour - still to be determined!). I tried to format it back to FAT32. It was formatted at a low level by the program, and then to FAT32. It still loads very slowly. When he decides, he writes and reads normally, and can also be read normally on TV and another computer. I tried to format it in FAT32 on another computer in Windows7, where it was quickly detected and formatted. But on mine it’s still the same “song”. What should I do with it? How to restore its speed after formatting?

Answer. There are many reasons for the low performance of a flash drive after formatting it. Considering that you are using Windows XP, it can logically be assumed that your computer is of a rather weak configuration. Would you mind updating XP to more? new version Windows?

Next. It’s not a fact that formatting a flash drive will save the situation. In addition, you yourself observe that the problem is most likely not in the flash drive, but in the device to which you copy the files. Your hard drive may need diagnostics. in the Victoria program.

In general, update your system and computer hardware.

The child formatted the phone based on Android. Phone model LG Class. How to recover a flash drive after formatting: photos, videos and other programs? I really need it, please help me. I tried to find it in Google Play, but this function was not active. And I don’t remember the passwords with the login, because I didn’t create them.

Answer. It’s interesting, of course, how a child could format a memory card on LG Class... Indeed, the easiest way to restore programs is through Google Play. If you don’t know the login information for your account for this service, create a new one and, through a search in the Application Store, install the programs that were installed on Android before. The easiest way to recover photos and videos on your phone is using the Card Recovery or Auslogics File Recovery applications (read the instructions above for restoring a flash drive after formatting).

I inserted a flash drive with the Mikrotik operating system - and it formatted all hard disk. How to recover data? There were a lot of vital files.

Answer. To recover files after formatting, I can recommend the Auslogics File Recovery program. Alternatively, almost any resuscitation program will do, the same.

    1. My husband formatted the laptop (because it started to glitch a little, he blamed it on a virus and decided to just format it). Said he did backup copy. But of course, after formatting, we cannot find it. The laptop began to slow down and freeze. It has Windows 8 installed on it. And after formatting, everything changed a little. It turned on and loaded quickly, but now it takes a very long time. It turns off now not through “Start”, but from the side through the settings.

I would like to know how to restore a hard drive after formatting, that is, the files on it? I really want to return the photographs of the child. They are not available anywhere else. Well, can you tell me what can be done to return original version? It seems to me that something was removed, since some functions have changed a little. But the main thing, of course, is to restore the files.

    2. I wanted to transfer photos from my Samsung Galaxy 6 phone to an external hard drive. Due to my carelessness, the files were deleted after formatting. Is it possible to recover files after formatting - photos located on the hard drive?

Answer. Recovering files after hard formatting disk recovery is one of the main functions of the Auslogics File Recovery program.

Remember on which drive the child’s photos were stored, and in the recovery wizard, select the appropriate drive. To speed up the search, as file type select photos only. Set all settings in Auslogics File Recovery as described in this manual. Be sure to activate the Perform Deep Scan option for deep analysis of hard disk. After formatting, file names may change - focus on the image format, use file preview.

External hard the disk was connected to Samsung TV. The child accidentally pressed the record button on the remote control. And the TV formatted the hard drive before recording. How and with what program can I recover information from this disk? Is it possible in principle to recover data from a hard drive after formatting?

Answer. Yes, it is likely that data recovery is possible even after formatting, it depends on the depth of formatting, as well as the time that has passed since this operation was performed. If, after formatting the disk, you wrote any files to it, then with each new write cycle the chances of returning anything decrease significantly.

Is there a chance to recover photos after drives D and E have been formatted without saving information from them anywhere? Then they tried to install Windows on the laptop several times, because it didn’t work the first time. Is there any way or program to recover data after formatting?

Answer. Repeated reinstallation, of course, reduces the chances of recovering files. It was necessary to connect the HDD to another computer and install the Auslogics File Recovery program. In this case, data recovery after formatting the hard drive would have a chance of success. Try this now if you have access to another PC.

If this is not possible, download and install Auslogics File Recovery. Specify system disk To search for deleted files, activate deep scan. Maybe the files will be found.

By mistake I formatted the f drive instead of a flash drive using total cmd (programs, photos, videos, text, music). I realized this immediately, so I didn’t do anything else, I also turned off wifi. I would like to get everything back, or at least photos and videos (family archive). Please consult.

Answer. Auslogics File Recovery or any other file recovery program will help you. To speed up files, you can use a filter by file type or scan the entire contents of a section for the “full picture.” We recommend that you create an image of a formatted disk and connect it for recovery - in this case, you can work on your computer as before, while the image will be available in read mode and can be scanned by all programs for recovery after formatting.

Deleted data can be restored as well as formatted disks. The area on the disk that stores file data is marked as available and retains old data. until it is overwritten by some other file.

In this article you will learn:

    • how to get back deleted photos.
    • You can get back deleted files.
    • how to get back something deleted from your computer.

    • deleted the game how to get it back.
    • How to get something deleted from the trash back?

    • How to get a deleted game back?
    • how to get back deleted photos.
    • how to get back deleted files.
    • how to get back deleted photos.

All these questions in one article.

Try to remember if you copied new files to the disk or flash drive, as this will overwrite the files you want to recover. Once again, it is recommended to also install data recovery software to a separate disk.

So now there are two recovery methods to choose from, but it all depends on your specific case.

Condition 1. You accidentally formatted your external drive or maybe local disk your own computer but still you can see empty disk space.

Condition 2. You formatted the disk when installing the operating system or something else, and now you will not be able to open/start your computer.

So if your situation is like condition 1, then that's great because it means you need to run recovery process from the operating system like a regular program.

    It's actually quite easy;

And you can check these recovery steps with my suggested article >> All about data recovery and how to do it?

In this article I described only the recovery process, in a situation similar to condition 2.

    # Let's see how to recover data when you accidentally formatted your disk during OS installation:

In this case, things get a little more complicated, but data recovery is still possible, don't worry.

The problem here is Without an OS you can't control your computer.

In fact, it won't even load.

In this case, you will need to use what is known as bootable data recovery software, which does not require an operating system for work.

Programs boot recovery can be launched from external source- for example, a DVD or USB drive connected to a computer. ABOUTnor can they “see” errors in your system, to find out what went wrong, where and how to get the files back.

The search is best performed on the entire hard drive, and not just on the partition (“letter drive”). This will allow the program to search the entire hard drive How single block data and ignore partitions, giving you a better chance of pulling that particular rabbit out of the proverbial hat.

Scanning a large hard drive, 500 gigabytes or larger, may take some time. This is also affected by how powerful your computer is and the number of files the program processes. It's not uncommon for the process to take a couple of hours to complete, so be patient.

Once the scan is complete, the final step is simple - just find the missing files and return them to the correct folder.

And to do all this, firstly, you will need to buy (download) data recovery software for your computer or laptop. Every data recovery software available only in paid version; If you try to do the same with free version program, then the chances of recovering the necessary data will be much less, however, you can download “hacked” versions paid programs, on specialized sites (torrent)

I can recommend you a best-in-class deleted file recovery software that can help in such a situation - "EaseUS Data Recovery Bootable Media 11.0".

Obviously, big plus here is that you don't have to run it from your hard drive, allowing you to search for anything without any obstacles.

And here is the link if you are planning to buy this software (EaseUS Data Recovery Bootable Media 11.00 -Cart Link):

Let's see how to use EaseUS bootable media

To do this, you need to create in advance WinPE boot disk, which is also not so difficult.

WinPE stands for Pre-Environment Windows installations. This Windows system, which provides the minimum required functionality based on OS kernels.

To create a boot disk from WinPE Edition EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, you will need a working computer in order to install the basic software and using this basic software you can do any of your USB drives or CD/DVDs ready for the data recovery process.

    To do this;

Run data recovery program EaseUS WinPE Edition.

EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard WinPE Edition will automatically recognize your CD/DVD device or USB drive. Or you can also export the ISO file manually.

Select CD/DVD or USB drive and click "Continue" to create a boot disk or flash drive.

Then run the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard from boot disk WinPE

Now you need to change the boot sequence of your computer.

After loading EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard from the WinPE boot disk, you will see the following:

Select the "broken" drive you want to recover data from and be prepared for a long wait.

Once the scan is complete, select the files you need and recover them.

And depending on the size of the file, this can take a long time and be sure to ensure that your files are not damaged after you have restored them.

    2. The first “FormatRecovery” screen will give you a list of partitions that the program was able to find on the disks on your system. If the partition is not listed, it is a sign of more serious damage. Perhaps the Advanced Recovery data recovery tool will help you. If you are trying to recover data from removable media, you need to insert it before the moment you select “FormatRecovery”.

    3. If you accidentally reformatted a partition, you may have changed the partition type. Radio button "Previous File System» will allow you to select the previous file system type for the partition.

    4. To begin restoring a reformatted partition, select the partition and click the “Next” button to start scanning the files. Data Recovery Wizard analyzes disk and file system structure data, attributes and displays the directory tree.

5.When the scanning of the lost partition is finished, you will see a tree of files/folders.

    6. Select the file or directory you want to restore and click the button "Next".

7.Select a directory and click the button "Next" to save the data.

Note: If your disk has been repartitioned and the partition sizes have been changed or the partition has been moved, you must use "AdvancedRecovery".

Attention: Saving the file(s) to the partition or drive from which you are recovering data may cause the data to be overwritten and will also result in permanent data loss!

You may also be interested in information on the following: keywords, which is usually searched for on my website

Modern hard drives year after year they increase in capacity, speed, become more compact, technologically advanced, but... less reliable. Manufacturers do not care about quality: they strive to flood the market with their products and leave competitors “in the dust.” It is more profitable for them to exchange defective drives for new ones than to work on increasing their resistance to failures.

“What about the data? - you ask. “After all, they die along with the disk!” Data, friends, is our problem. We must think about how not to lose them. And if this happens, be able to save them. Today we’ll talk about how to recover data from a hard drive without resorting to the help of experts. And also about situations when you should not try to get them yourself, but it is better to immediately take the disk to a specialized service.

    The easiest to restore are:

    • Files and folders, deleted by user past the trash can (by pressing Shift + Delete).

    • Information corrupted due to a file system failure.
    • Files erased by viruses.
    • Data in formatted partitions (with the exception of “low-level” formatting, in which all information on the disk is overwritten with zeros).

However, there cannot be a 100% guarantee of success in this matter. The files and folders that have been recently deleted have the greatest chance of survival, that is, the areas of the disk where they were stored were not overwritten. In the latter case, the chances of recovering information after quick formatting, since in this case only the file allocation table in the partition is erased, and they themselves remain in place.

IN following cases It is impossible to recover data or the probability of this is very low:

    • If disk drive was formatted at a low level (essentially overwritten).
    • If the information was deleted using a file shredder application.
    • When another information was written on top of the deleted information. For example, if the user accidentally formatted, say, drive C for Windows reinstallation, but remembered that they remained on it important files, only after installing the new system.
    • In case of physical damage to the magnetic layer on which information is stored.
    • When files are damaged by encryption viruses, if there is no decryption key or effective decryptor. Searching for a key using the brute force method (brute force search) is, with rare exceptions, ineffective. The reason is that today there are more and more viruses that use strong 128- or 256-bit encryption. It is impossible to find a key for it with the current level of technology (and for 256 bits it is impossible in principle).

In the event of a hardware failure of the drive, if the electronics board has fallen or mechanical parts have failed, the probability of successful data recovery is about 50%. More precisely, it all depends on the type of breakdown and the qualifications of the technician. Recover information from physical damaged disk Unfortunately, it won’t work with the help of programs. Quite the contrary: attempts to turn on a disk that has broken down are fraught with irretrievable loss of data.

In what cases is it better to do nothing and take the device to a specialized service:

    • When the disk is not detected by the computer or periodically disappears (except for the case described below). Moreover, if it does not work at all: when connected, it does not show any signs of “life”, does not spin up, and does not get warm. External drive To check, you need to connect to the computer as a regular internal one (via a SATA or IDE port, if available), since if only the interface fails USB data usually not damaged.
    • When the hard drive has been hit or dropped. In this case, you should not even try to turn it on.
    • If, when accessing the disk, messages appear indicating serious problems with it or operating system crashes into BSoD ( blue screen death).
    • If there is a suspicion that the hard drive housing is leaking. By the way, under no circumstances should you open it yourself. A speck of dust that gets inside can damage the magnetic layer and irreversibly destroy the information on it the first time it is turned on.
    • In case of visible defects in the connection interfaces and the disk electronics board.
    • If there is a suspicion that liquid has entered the drive housing. This happens when removable hard The disk is placed in the bag next to the wet umbrella.

Data recovery services in service centers- the pleasure is not cheap. “Treatment” of the mildest cases costs about half the cost of the drive (this is if the drive itself can be brought back to life without losing data). In difficult situations, the cost is 2 or more than the price of a new disk. It depends on the amount of information and the complexity of the restoration work.

What to do if the hard drive is not detected by the computer, freezes or works with errors

This life hack only applies to hard drives, have been in use for at least six months.

On the bottom side of the hard drive electronics board there are contact pads that are connected to the magnetic head unit (BGM, a device for reading and writing information to the magnetic layer) with a flexible cable that goes inside the hermetic zone (disk case).

Over time, especially if the disk has been used in conditions of high humidity and significant heating, these areas are covered with a non-conducting layer of oxides - they become dull and dark, sometimes to the point of blackness. The oxide layer disrupts the contact between the HDM and the controller, which has an extremely negative impact on the operation of the disk: read/write errors, recognition problems, lags and other unpleasant things occur.

The solution to the problem is very simple: just remove the electronics board (for this you most often need a T6 screwdriver - a six-pointed star), clean the pads until they shine with a school eraser and wipe with alcohol. After such a simple procedure, many drives begin to work like new.

Programs for data recovery at home

    - one of the most popular free utilities to recover data on a PC under Windows control. It is especially effective at restoring objects that have been removed past the recycle bin. It supports almost all types of files: graphics, music, videos, archives, documents, email messages and much more.

Recuva is capable of reading information not only from healthy, but also from logically damaged devices, as well as from formatted disk partitions. It recognizes any type of media - hard and optical discs, SSD, flash drives, memory cards, drives mobile devices etc. Works with file files NTFS systems, FAT16-32 and ExFat.

    How to use the program:

    • Download the installation or portable version of Recuva. Install or unpack it into a separate folder and run it with administrator rights.
    • If the program interface opens on English, you can switch to Russian for convenience: click the “Options” button and select “Russian” from the “Language” list on the “General” tab.

    • While in the main window, open the list of disk partitions and connected drives. Select the area from which you want to recover information.
    • In the search bar (marked with a magnifying glass icon), enter the path to the object you are looking for, or click on the arrow and select the type of file you want to restore. In our example, this is graphics. By the way, text documents can be searched by keywords. To do this, open the "Analysis" menu and select "View Content." The “File Mask” field should indicate the type of document (doc, pdf, etc.), and in the “Search Line” you should indicate the word or phrase that the program should search for. After filling out both fields, click the “Analyze” button.

    • A list of found documents (or files of another type, depending on what you specified in the settings) will be displayed in the main Recuva window. In some cases, you can see the contents before restoring text documents and pictures in the “View” field (to the right of the list). The “Summary” contains information about the file: name, size, status and number of overwritten clusters. In the “Header”, accordingly, there are header service data.
    • Each list item has a colored circle next to it. Green points to good opportunity recover deleted files. Yellow indicates a questionable one, and red indicates its absence (since a significant part of the file has been overwritten).
    • Select the objects you want to return from the list and click the “Restore” button. Select the folder where the program should save them. It's important that it be different logical partition the same disk or another physical device.

    DMDE

DMDE is a cross-platform recovery utility, backup and editing the contents of drives. Works on Windows, Linux and DOS. Supports the following file systems: FAT12-16-32, ExFAT, NTFS, NTFS5, Ext2-3-4, HFSX, HFS+, and RAW (unspecified). Capable of extracting data from healthy and damaged hard drives, solid state media and RAID arrays, as well as their sector-by-sector copies created in the program itself. Recovers not only deleted files, but also entire partitions that are no longer detectable due to corrupted service information. Has RAID reconstruction functions.

DMDE comes in free and two paid versions- home and commercial. The difference between the free version and the paid home edition is the absence of a group file recovery function and a quantitative limitation - the program allows you to restore up to 4000 objects from the current panel.

All versions of DMDE work without installation - just unpack the archive into a separate folder and run the Dmde.exe file.

    How to use the utility:

    • After the main DMDE window appears on the screen, click the button top menu"Disk selection". Select the device or logical partition from which you want to recover information. Confirm your choice.

    • Next, select the desired partition again and click “Open Volume”.

    • In the left panel of the next window, select the “All found + reconstruction” option. Specify the file system reconstruction method and the search objects: all files, including deleted files, only deleted files, or all files excluding deleted files. If you want to get a list of only missing files, select “only deleted”, otherwise it may become too large.

    • After the program displays a list of everything found, right-click on the object of interest and select “Restore Object” from the menu.

    • On the first tab of the recovery options window, specify the location to save the object.

    • On the “Filters” tab, you can set a mask of file names, their sizes (from and to) and exclude empty folders from processing.

    • As a rule, you don’t need to change anything in the settings. After clicking “OK”, the program will immediately begin the recovery process.

If the recovered files cannot be opened or the utility did not find what you wanted, the developers recommend performing a full scan of the volume and repeating the operation.

Or return to the disk selection section and try to read other volumes.

    — a powerful software package of recovery tools for rescuing data from all types of media, including deeply damaged ones. This utility is often resorted to in cases where nothing else has helped.

Features of R-Studio include support for all types of drives and file systems, including undefined (RAW). And also - an improved algorithm for searching and restoring damaged and partially overwritten files. Additionally, the program contains functions for RAID reconstruction and creating virtual disk images from which information can be read as from physical ones.

    How to use R-studio:

    • Install and run the utility with administrator rights. The main window will display a list of connected drives.
    • Specify the media or partition from which you want to recover data and click the “Scan” button.

    • In the scanning settings window, define the file types that need to be found (the “Known file types” button), the rest can be left as default. To continue, click "Scan".

    • After the scan is completed, go to the “Disk” menu and click the “Recover all files” option.

    • Specify the location to save what you found and, if necessary, other recovery options (shown in the screenshot below). Click “Yes” to confirm. Wait until the operation is completed.

R-studio is an effective, but paid and very expensive program. However, there are “corrected” versions of it on the Internet.

    How to properly recover information

    • The location where restored objects are saved should never be the same logical partition from which they were read.
    • It is better not to postpone the data recovery procedure until later. The fewer disk operations, the higher the chances of success.
    • If the program's capabilities allow, create a virtual image of the partition or device on which the objects of interest are located, and restore from it. This will protect you from irretrievable data loss due to accidental overwriting or sudden drive failure.
    • If recovery is performed with physical media, try to complete everything in one session. Repeated attempts may be less successful.
