• Creating a second user in Windows 10

Welcome back to my blog and now we will look at the pressing issue of how to add a local user in Windows 10. It’s clear that Windows will strongly recommend an account named after itself, how could it be otherwise :) But this is not necessary in all cases and not everyone wants it (what if Windows will keep track of me? No, we’ll manage somehow local recording). Or guests have come to stay with you for a few days and want to sit at the computer. You don’t want to let guests into your personal virtual space, which has already been set up and lived in. And the guests are so dense that they still don’t have registration Microsoft records, what a horror! Just kidding, just kidding) But nevertheless, the ability to create a local user in Windows 10 is left, which we will use.

    Method 1. Standard

So let's get started. Visit us at: Start -> Options -> Accounts. You can also quickly get to Settings by pressing the combination Win+I.

In the accounts window, click on the tab on the left Family and other users. Then click in the section Other users link Add a user for this computer.

We will now begin the user creation process, during which Windows will strongly recommend a network account. At first, Windows will simply think that you want to add a user with account Microsoft first of all asks you to enter his e-mail or phone number. But we say our firm “No!” and click on the little invisible link below I don't have this person's login information.

But Windows is not going to give up so quickly and offers to create a new Microsoft account. This, of course, is not part of our plans and we again click on the small and inconspicuous link below with the name Add a user without a Microsoft account.

Windows 10 is beginning to understand that we are determined and will go to the bitter end. And in the next window we are finally allowed to create a local account. Enter the username, for example, User2 and password if necessary. You can do without a password, it’s at your discretion. And we complete the process with the Next button.

Well, here it is, our local happiness is on the list) By the way, you can delete an unnecessary user or one that has become unnecessary if you select the account and select Delete.

By default, it is created standard user with limited rights. If you are happy with this, then you don’t need to change anything, but if you want to promote the user to Administrator, then click on his name and select Change account type. Select Administrator from the list and confirm with OK.

And now I’ll show you another way to create a user, a more cunning one)

    Method 2. Tricky-advanced

Open the Run window using the Win + R key combination. Enter one of the commands there: netplwiz or control userpasswords2. Both options will bring up the same window. Press OK or Enter on the keyboard.

User Accounts shows a list of accounts on your computer. Press the button Add… and let's start creating a new user.

Windows 10 will again cheerfully advise us to create a Microsoft account. We'll also cheerfully ignore this advice and click on the little inconspicuous link below: Sign in without a Microsoft account.

    Now we choose Local account.

And now we can finally start adding a local user. Enter a name, and if you want, use a password to complicate access. Click Next.

That's all, our User is ready. Click Finish.

Were you able to add a local user? If you have any difficulties or questions, write in the comments, I will help.

A Windows 10 account will allow you to access settings and files that are not available when you normally use your computer. At the same time permanent job with Administrator rights is unsafe, so after updating the device to latest version operating system You should immediately create a new profile.

    Conclusion

There are several ways to create and delete a profile in Windows 10. The simplest and safe way, in the opinion of the editors, use the User Account utility.

It goes without saying that several registered users can work on one computer terminal, for which special accounts are used. We will discuss how to add an account in Windows 10 below. Actually, the scheme for its creation, in general terms, does not differ much from what was done in predecessor systems of a lower rank, however, it was in the tenth version that some additional tools appeared that are simply not available in outdated OSs. Therefore, the procedure may be different.

How to add an account in Windows 10: standard method

Creation new registration in the tenth modification of Windows - the matter is not so complicated. You can use the old proven method - calling the corresponding section of the “Control Panel”. True, the panel itself will be quite difficult for the average user to find if they do not know the essence of the issue, since it is not in the main “Start” menu. Therefore, the easiest way is to call the “Run” console and enter control in it.

After this, you need to go to the accounts section, select managing another registration and use the line to add a new user. But! The trick is that after this you will immediately be redirected to the settings menu, which in Windows 10 is the main panel. So isn’t it easier to call it right away, using the same “Start” button?

How to add an account on Windows 10? Nothing could be simpler. We enter the “accounts” menu and go to the family and other users section. At the bottom right there is a line for adding a new user, to the left of which there is a button with a plus sign. Click on it and follow the instructions.

Create a registration without email and Microsoft account

However, most users encounter difficulties at some stage when adding registration.

Firstly, the “Wizard” requires you to enter the personal data of the new user, including email, and secondly, it offers to create a Microsoft registration. However, the problem of how to add an account to Windows 10 without mail can be solved quite simply.

When the registration window appears, you just need to use the line located just below, stating that you do not have such data.

Likewise, at the stage where it will be asked to create a Microsoft registration, it is said to be for advanced use software products corporation, you should use the add item without registering.

How to add an account in Windows 10 with administrator rights through the command line?

Now comes the most important part. The main problem when registering a new user in the system is that his entry will relate to to the average user, who does not have the rights to change global settings of the operating system, edit its parameters, or perform any specific actions with files and programs. Therefore, such rights must be granted.

The most in a fast way both for adding a new user and for granting admin rights, the use of command line, but running as administrator.

You need to enter the following in the console:

    • to add a user - net user Name Password /add;
    • to add to the administrator group - net localgroup Name / add.

The name and password are entered arbitrarily, but when specifying the user name, the use of Cyrillic characters is unacceptable.

Administrator rights when registering in a group

We figured out how to add a user. With administrator rights too. However, the system has another equally effective tool for granting administrator rights, which is suitable for all those who do not like to use the command line.

To call this tool in the “Run” menu, you need to enter the command lusrmgr.msc, to add a user, select the user category and use context menu via PCM. When entering the group membership section, the RMB menu is also used, with which another registered user is added to the selected group.

Finally, in the parameters, you can select the accounts section and apply a change to the registration type for the selected “account”, setting the value to “Administrator”.

    Which method to prefer

Based on all of the above, it is quite obvious that the fastest method that allows you to create an “account” and immediately add it to the administrators group is to use the command line, although all of the above methods are absolutely equivalent to each other. Simply entering commands in the console saves a lot of time, and the result is exactly the same as when calling different types of additional menus, sections and services.

Sometimes, even on home computers, there is a need to solve the problem of how to add a user to Windows 10. This can be done using several basic options. Many people immediately have a question about why this is necessary. The answer is simple: you can create several accounts with limited rights for your family members so that they cannot change the system settings or harm it. And what can we say about office computers, which can employ two or more clerks?

How to add a user to Windows 10: method one

The main method is to use Windows settings(second “Control Panel”). This section can be accessed through standard menu“Start”, but in a simplified version it is better to use the shortcut Win + I.

Here you select the accounts section, after which you go to the family and other users menu, located in the column on the left. On the right side of the window, you need to select the other users section and click the add new user button, indicated by a plus. Next you will be prompted to enter your address. email or telephone. However, in Windows 10 you can add a local user without this. You just need to click on the link below (you don't have any data). This will be useful if you do not plan to create a Microsoft “account” at all.

The next window will prompt you to create it. Again, in the question of how to add a user in Windows 10, the add line is used without such registration. Finally, all that remains is to indicate the name of the new user, create a password to ensure security and enter a hint for cases when it may be lost or forgotten. It’s worth noting right away that the new registration will correspond to the so-called regular user, that is, he will not have administrative rights to change system settings.

How to add a new user to Windows 10: method two

In principle, you can use standard scheme, which was used in earlier Windows versions. This method is to first open the Control Panel (the easiest way is to enter control in the Run menu).

Here you need to go to the accounts section, select managing another account, and then simply click on the link to add a new user. After this, you will be redirected to the options menu, which was discussed above. So to perform such procedures, you can use both methods (whichever is more convenient).

    Using the Command Line

The problem of how to add a user in Windows 10 can be solved and no less effective method, which involves using the command line. However, it must be launched as an administrator (either cmd in the “Run” console, or through the RMB menu for the “Start” button, or by opening the cmd.exe file through RMB in the System32 directory).

The command to add a user with a password looks something like this: net user NAME PASSWORD /add, where NAME is the name of the new user, and PASSWORD is the password (these values are set arbitrarily). After this, the enter key is pressed, and the new user will appear in the list of system users, but again without having administrator rights.

Adding a user to a group

Now let's see how to add a user to a group (for example, administrator) in Windows 10. To do this, you first need to launch this system tool by entering the combination lusrmgr.msc in the Run console (Win + R). First, the user folder is selected, and the center field in the right-click menu uses the add new user line. Next enter necessary information and click the create button. After this, the group membership section is selected, through RMB, the line for adding a registration record is selected and indicated the right group(for example, “Administrators”).

    Assignment of rights

Since the new user, after registration, has, so to speak, they can be expanded by changing the registration type to administrator. One method has already been discussed (group membership), but you can do it differently. After creating a user in the settings section, you just need to go to the other users menu and click on change account type. “Administrator” is selected from the list, after which the changes are saved. Again, access to changing these parameters can be done through the regular “Control Panel”.

When performing operations to add a new user from the command line, you can also assign such rights. For this purpose it is used net command localgroup Administrators NAME /add, where NAME is the name of the new user.

    Conclusion

That, in fact, is all that concerns the creation of a new registration for Windows systems 10. It is difficult to say which method of all the above is better. Here everyone chooses what is more convenient for them to work with, although in terms of efficiency and the results obtained, they are all absolutely equivalent to each other. However, based on practical considerations, when you need to simultaneously add a user and give him administrative rights, the easiest way is to use command console. At least it will take much less time than traveling through various sections and menus.

In today's instructions, we'll look at how to create a new user on Windows 10 using all the methods available in the operating system. We will also look at ways to give it administrator privileges or do the opposite - turn the account into an account with limited rights.

Most likely everything Windows users 10 are familiar with both types of accounts, from which you can work in the “ten” environment. The first are local user accounts, which are no different from the accounts of previous editions of the operating system. The second are Microsoft accounts that require registration on the operating system developer's website. Having such an account, all parameters will be regularly synchronized with those stored on the software giant’s server.

If you don’t want Microsoft to store all your account data, or vice versa, you want to take advantage of the privileges of a Microsoft account, in Windows 10 it is possible to convert one type of account into another in any direction.

Unlike previous editions of the OS, where accounts were created and edited through a special Control Panel applet, in the “ten” its functionality actually replaces the “Settings” menu section, called “Accounts”.

    1. To access the “Options” menu, use the hotkey combination “Win + I”.

    2. Go to the “Accounts” section.

    3. Activate the “Family and other users” tab located in the vertical menu.

The first section, “Your Family,” if you have a Microsoft account, will allow you to create accounts with limited rights for other family members, for example, for children.

The next section provides options for creating a local account with administrative or regular privileges. We will consider this option below.

    4. Scroll down the right frame and click on the icon for adding a new user to of this computer, located in the "Other Users" section.

    5. If you do not intend to create a Microsoft account (or want to get one, but do not yet have an email for it), click on the link at the bottom of the window “I do not have this user’s login information.”

A new window will then open asking you to create a Microsoft account.

    6. If you want to create it, fill out all the forms and click “Next”, otherwise follow the “Add a user without a Microsoft account” link, which is located at the bottom of the window.

On Windows 10, any new user has normal (limited) privileges. To obtain computer administrator rights, you must complete several steps.

    1. Go to the “Family and other users” subsection, located in the “Accounts” section of the “Options” menu.
    2. At the bottom of the right frame of the window we find the desired user and click on its icon or name.
    3. Click on the “Change account type” button.
    4. In the drop-down list with account types, select “Administrator” and click “OK” to save the new settings.

Creating a new account via the command line

There is an easier way to get an account in Windows 10. To do this, we will use text commands executed via the command line.

Note that all actions will be similar to the first option, with the only difference being that the commands will be executed in text mode.

You will need administrator privileges to be able to create and edit existing accounts.

    1. Launch the command line with extended privileges, for example, through the search line.

    2. Enter a command like “net user UserName Pass /add” and run it by clicking “Enter”.

Here UserName is the name of the new account, Pass is the password for authorization in the system.

After completing all the steps in Windows environment 10 will appear new account with limited privileges. To give it administrative rights, run the following command in the command line window: “net localgroup Administrators UserName /add”.

For people using non-activated or unlicensed copy of Windows 10, it is recommended to replace the word “administrators” with its English equivalent “administrators” in case of an error.

Creating a new account through the MMC snap-in

Even in XP, a system console appeared with many snap-ins for creating system management consoles. One of them is the element " Local users and groups."

    1. Launch the tool using the command “lusrmgr.msc” executed in search bar or the “Run” window (launched via “Win + R”).

    2. Open the “Users” directory.

    3. Call the context menu of the free area of the right frame and select the “New user” command.

    4. Fill out all the forms and click “Create”.

    5. Call “Properties” of the newly created account through the context menu of its icon/name.

    6. Go to the “Group Membership” tab and click “Add”.

    7. In the object name input field, enter “Administrators” and save the settings.

The selected User now has administrator privileges.

    Command "control userpasswords2"

The last method to get an account in Windows 10 is to run the “control userpasswords2” command in the Run window.

    Click “Add”.

All further operations will be similar to the first of the considered methods for adding an account in Windows 10.
