• AnVir Task Manager: advanced task manager, tweaker and antivirus utility. AnVir Task Manager - process and startup manager with anti-Trojan functions

Extending the functions of the standard Task Manager to optimize computer performance is the main purpose free program and I’ll tell you how to set it up in a short review.

The capabilities of AnVir Task Manager are impressive. Internet connection, control over open files, temperature and load hard drives, network traffic, fight against viruses.

    Features of AnVir Task Manager

Data transfer speed, virus detection and removal, RAM, laptop battery - all these indicators and many others are available for viewing and configuration in the AnVir TM program window. This program is an advanced replacement for the Windows built-in Task Manager. To do this, you need to tick the required checkbox.

Download the program from the official website at www.anvir.net. The link is inactive, but it is easy to navigate to the site. Select the address, right-click and select “Go to website...”.

The program is easy, weighs only 4.16 MB. We accept the terms of the agreement and select the installation folder. Uncheck the boxes so as not to install unnecessary software.

    Uncheck the boxes before installation

After installation, the Program Setup Wizard opens, prompting you to select useful functions. The first step suggests installing additional buttons, add necessary programs and a list of the latest open folders in the “Save As” and “Close” dialogs.

    Program Settings Wizard

    Installation file

The program runs with administrator rights without additional dialogs. We'll delete it right away installation file so as not to take up disk space.

    Basic program settings

Open the “View” tab. Check the box for “Status bar”, “Toolbar” and others. The marked columns are added to the program window. I checked the boxes like this.

    Program window with settings

When you click the "Columns" button, the additional features main window settings. To see the date the program was added to startup and the security level, check “Risk level” and “Added to startup.”

The “Risk Level” column is colored in different colors. Green – the program is safe, pink – it may be a virus, but not necessarily. If the line is highlighted in bold black font, then the program was recently added to auto launch. True, this checkbox is not ticked in the picture.

Click on any line with the program.

    Files in startup

When you select “Detailed information”, a window with information about the file opens. When you hover your mouse over a file, all its data opens in a pop-up window. What program is it, authorship, file location. Just below is the delayed loading editing tab. Lazy loading allows the program to start not when the computer starts, but a little later.

You set the time yourself. To prohibit auto start for any program, uncheck the check box. To return this function to it, check the box again. To remove a program from autorun, you need to highlight the line.

    Removing a program from autostart

To prevent a program from unauthorized penetration into auto start, add it to quarantine.

Please note that the program simply will not start when the computer starts. But it will remain on the computer. To launch it, you need to find “Program Shortcut” and click on it.

Here you can also check the program with an antivirus. Click on the line, then “Check on the site.”

Let's look at the next tab. “Tools” – “Settings” – “Properties”.

    Tools-Settings-Properties

Make sure the four check boxes are ticked.

    Preventing programs from starting automatically

Now not a single application will be registered in auto launch without asking. If you don’t know whether this program is needed or not, add it to “Quarantine” for a while.

    Additional settings

The next tab is “Icons and tray menus”.

    Setting up the program

By default, the program installs 4 icons. You can select one component that shows several parameters: processor or disk temperature, used memory, and others. I don't leave AnVir Task Manager running in background, so as not to load RAM.

In the “Process priority” item we set the file priority.

    Setting the program priority

For example, set the priority of the video player as “high”, and the video conversion program as “low”.

"Settings" - " Windows extensions" Here we tick the check boxes at our discretion.

If you check the “Replace Windows Task Manager” checkbox, you can configure your computer from this program. To check a file located on your computer’s hard drive for viruses, do this: “Tools” – “Scan the file with antiviruses.” Explorer will open. Choose required file from the hard drive. The result will open in a browser window.

Look at the "Help" tab. There are given useful tips and a link to a specialized forum. Users ask the author how the program works; there is something useful there.

So we got acquainted with AnVir Task Manager How to use and about others necessary functions described in video instructions on the official website. Explore the capabilities of the program and it will help you.

In order not to occupy the computer's RAM, I did not enable AnVir in the background. I run the file when I need to check some data. IN constant mode the program is not included.

Being in the tray, AnVir still slows down the operation of devices. Other users noticed this too. There are posts on the forum about the problem. After checking the data, I disable the software.

It is useless to simply remove programs from the startup folder. When you turn on the computer, they start again on their own. You need to disable it either in the Task Manager or delete it executable file. More details about manually deleting applications can be found here.

AnVir Task Manager- a unique, free and inimitable program! There are simply no analogues! It is at the same time a powerful manager of tasks, processes, startup, services and services, a detector and destroyer of viruses and spyware (Spyware, Rootkit, network worms, etc.) ...

AnVir Task Manager has a Tweaker for fine tuning system and its acceleration (more than 100 settings). This program also allows you to create additional buttons in the header of any Windows windows, monitors and displays in tray hard temperature disk and processor, their load, use RAM, traffic speed...

The program integrates a database with a description of more than 100,000 programs and toolbars Internet Explorer and services!

What AnVir Task Manager can do

It can be said that AnVir Task Manager- this is embedded in Windows system KGB agent. It knows everything about all services, processes, tasks and programs on your computer. It can (and should) be used instead of the built-in system, primitive task manager - just specify this in the program settings.

Super Manager will allow you to complete processes and tasks, set priorities for them, automatically suspend them when the load on the processor is too high...

And most importantly, this manager exercises total, complete control over autoloading programs and services. Remember, I already told you about speeding up system startup by simplifying the startup list and use delayed launch of programs ? This is just part of what AnVir Manager can do.

Any attempt by a virus, Trojan, unwanted program etc. running on a computer without your knowledge is doomed to failure! The manager will warn you about such a vile trick.

And moreover, many toolbars and Trojans do not calm down when autoloading is prohibited. They try to get into it again and again. But now all this doesn’t make sense - after all, it’s enough to check the first box below - “Don’t ask again...” ...

If in doubt, send this autoload point to quarantine and if the results are unsatisfactory, you can always return it to system list autostart.

It is also possible to send any file or program directly from the manager for scanning and analysis to dozens of antiviruses at once!

It is possible and necessary. It is enough to understand it once and use the program for many years for your pleasure. You will be surprised that you once knew nothing about this unique process and task manager.

    AnVir Task Manager download

I offer you an already optimized installation file itself new version on at the moment(7.5.1 Final), without “gifts”. At the same time, right during installation you can choose which version to install - portable or regular.

The optimized installer size is only 3 MB !!! Think about it - 18 MB of garbage is offered to you by the manufacturers as a load!!! It's good that there is good people (KpoJIuK), who make repacks of useful programs free of charge.

    Installing AnVir Task Manager

How to use AnVir Task Manager

Now I will try to explain to you how this wonderful process manager works. If you don’t understand me, at the end I’ll give links to a video review of the program and an article from the manufacturers themselves.

Launch the program using a shortcut on the desktop or from the Start menu...

The first tab is autoload. 486 points!!! Did you think there were 5-6 programs there that you contributed yourself?

Be careful and careful! If you don’t know what program it is, hold your mouse pointer over the line and a window will pop up with detailed description. For example, I found several toolbars in startup, which I deleted 100 years ago in many ways. The creatures turned out to be amazingly tenacious - they are not displayed, but they continue to devour resources.

If a process or startup item is completely strange to you, send it temporarily to quarantine.

Click on the line with the RIGHT mouse button and select required action from the context menu...

Any program can easily be assigned a delayed launch to speed up system loading...

In the same way, go through the tabs “Applications”, “Processes”, “Services” to familiarize yourself.

If I were you, I would just leave the checkbox alone.

Let's take a look at "Tools"...

    "Settings" …

You can add very convenient and practical buttons to system windows - I recommend that you familiarize yourself with this feature.

Great feature. The program automatically temporarily lowers the priority (you can set it yourself for different programs) heavily loaded processes CPU. Super.

At the same time, my antivirus continued to work fully without overloading the processor - an awesome feature!!!

    "Tweaker for Windows" ...

Go through all the sections on the left and all the tabs at the top - you will be very surprised by the 3 MB program.

The Task Manager, like most of the standard functionality of Windows, is a limited format designed for the average person. IT professionals and advanced users often prefer more functional alternatives to standard capabilities. operating system, and such alternatives to the system task manager can be programs like or System Explorer. The program, which will be discussed in more detail below, is not only a more advanced alternative to the task manager, it is a mix of different useful functions for system engineers.

    1. About AnVir Task Manager

AnVir Task Manager is a functional task manager, a tweaker, and even antivirus utility, checking suspicious files for the presence of threats in conjunction with a known web service Virustotal.Com from Google. Where, by the way, about the file, system or software process you can find out the opinions of as many as 46 antivirus products.

AnVir Task Manager exists in paid and free versions. Let's look at the features of the free version below - AnVir Task Manager Free.

    2. Download, install and pre-configure the program

In the English version of AnVir Task Manager Free, the portable version and installer can be downloaded from the official website of the developer Anvir.Com.

With downloading the Russian version of the program lately problems are observed, therefore the installer and portable version of AnVir Task Manager Free are offered for downloading from the server.

The process of installing a program on a Windows system is accompanied by one small nuance - the simultaneous installation of other software. To install only AnVir Task Manager itself, at a certain step you need to check custom installation and remove the checkmarks from the additional software products offered.

The first tweak will be offered to us immediately when we first launch the program during the process of setting up parameters. AnVir Task Manager can add additional buttons to existing buttons in window headers - minimizing them to the system tray, docking them on top of other windows, and creating a floating icon.

This is, of course, an amateur tool, and its usefulness is highly questionable. Although the button to create a floating icon has its own charm - shortcuts active applications disappear from the Windows taskbar, appearing as a small icon (like a dock bar) in the lower left corner of the screen. And if necessary, using these icons, applications can be restored at any time.

The next step in setting up program parameters is setting monitoring icons system resources in the tray.

By default, AnVir Task Manager only offers CPU usage monitoring.

But for modern quad-core solutions, this is far from being an indicator that requires special user attention. Download percentage hard drive or RAM usage – these metrics tend to be tracked more frequently.

Whatever is chosen during the process preset program, all these options can be assigned or canceled at any time in the AnVir Task Manager settings.

    3. Advanced Task Manager

We will discover the first advantage of the program already at its launch. AnVir Task Manager can be run either as an administrator or as a regular user.

Having already entered the program itself, we will see a powerful task manager, divided into several tabs, which display separately applications, processes and services. At the bottom of the window, data on the use of system resources will be displayed.

in separate sections there is a list of all programs, services, files, add-ons that start with Windows, as well as those contained in the system scheduler.

A context menu called on any startup entry will provide a wide range of help and control functions, including placing a particular startup entry in quarantine—in fact, disabling it.

For any of the startup entries, you can assign delayed loading by selecting a convenient period of time after loading the operating system and setting, for example, only certain days of the week to start a program or service.

Tab "Applications" displays all currently running programs.

Among the commands in the context menu we will see the ability to switch to the processes of these programs, terminate their work, call detailed information etc.

Tab "Processes" most fully reveals the program's potential. All system processes in the AnVir Task Manager program are displayed like the Windows task manager, but in a more informative way. For each process, you can see the name, software product, developer, presence of an entry in startup, processor and hard drive load indicators. In one of the columns of each active process we will see the percentage indicator of the risk level of the program of this process. AnVir Task Manager generates the risk level based on an analysis of the behavior of a particular program - how much this behavior meets security standards.

Help information about active processes and commands for managing them are available in context menu, called on each of the processes.

Among the most popular functions are the following: setting priorities, blocking processes, restarting and suspending them for a while (which the standard Windows task manager cannot do), searching for information about processes on the Internet, quickly moving to the folder of any process.

A unique feature of AnVir Task Manager is the ability to check active processes directly from the context menu for threats using the Virustotal.Com web service.

Detailed information about system services is contained in the corresponding tab - "Services". One of the notable features of AnVir Task Manager in terms of running unused services is the function of changing the startup type - from automatic to on-demand startup. This is a loyal alternative complete shutdown rarely used services.

    4. Program settings

AnVir Task Manager settings allow you to make adjustments not only to the operation of the program itself, but also provide for manipulation of some system functionality.

In the settings you can, in particular:

    • assign hot keys to call the program;
    • set AnVir Task Manager to launch (instead of the standard Windows task manager) when pressing keys Ctrl+Shift+Esc;
    • assign delayed loading of autostart programs to speed up the loading of the system itself;
    • create a list of unwanted processes that will automatically terminate when you try to start them;
    • apply the processor load balancing function;
    • apply the function of optimizing RAM by releasing processes that use more memory than a given indicator at a certain period of time;
    • assign a list of processes to automatic change priority to the desired one when it is lowered or increased.

    5. Tweaks

In the program tools menu there is tweaker– functionality for thin Windows settings and its components.

In a separate window of the AnVir Task Manager program we will see system tweaks, neatly placed in thematic sections, with a clear and understandable description of each option. The program provides, in particular, tweaks for Windows Explorer, desktop, taskbar, menu "Start", system boot process, Internet connection settings, etc.

    6. Antivirus utility

Above we mentioned the possibility of checking active processes on the Virustotal.Com web service using a command in the context menu. The AnVir Task Manager tools menu has a separate anti-virus file scanning function.

Using this function, you can add a particular file to the program window, and it will be checked for threats using the Virustotal.Com web service.

As you can see, AnVir Task Manager itself is not an anti-virus product, but only plays the role of an intermediary between the user and a specialized web service. Therefore, the program can be safely used along with any antivirus product installed on the system, without fear of any conflicting reactions. The only drawback, not of AnVir Task Manager, but of the Virustotal.Com web service itself, is the limitations maximum size the file being checked is 128 MB. Restrictions, of course, can be lifted as part of the paid use of the service.

    Did this article help you?

So, what kind of software is this? At first glance, this is a more functional analogue of the built-in Windows Manager tasks (that thing that comes out when you press Ctrl+Alt+Del, through which you can turn off a frozen program, for example), but it also has some other functionality, because of which I put AVTM above other similar products (for example , the same Process Explorer and Process Lasso).

I started my acquaintance with AnVir Task Manager with Windows installations 7. I was unpleasantly surprised by this OS (by the way, before it I used XP, I chose not to install Vista) that when I press Ctrl+Alt+Del, it’s not the Task Manager that comes up, but a blue screen (fortunately, not a BSOD) prompting me to change user, see special features, and so on. Of course, Task Manager was on this list, but I need it right away, without any headaches blue screens, I want everything to be as before - quickly and conveniently. At that time, I was using Process Explorer instead of the task manager, so it did not appear using standard hotkeys, and others cannot be bound there (at least that was the case at that time). I started looking for an alternative and very soon found it in AnVir Task Manager. This software allowed you to set your own call to keys other than Ctrl+Alt+Del; I personally used the Ctrl+Alt+Insert configuration and got used to it pretty quickly.

So, before you start using the program, it would be a good idea to download it. This can be done on the official website of the project, which is located here. On the first page of the site you can download AVTM by clicking on “download for free”. After downloading the 15MB file anvirrus.exe, which is the program installer, you need to run it. During installation, this window will pop up, which I recommend setting up in the same way as mine (otherwise all sorts of unnecessary gizmos will be installed, like Yandex.Bar):

After installation, a window like this will immediately appear against the background of another, larger one (the main program window). The essence of the manipulation is that the program will check signatures running programs(you can check the box so that signatures are not checked in the future, and then skip the whole process):

Next, the program will offer useful extensions for Windows Explorer, of which I personally only use "Add useful commands.." The functionality is shown in the screenshot (by the way, most of the screenshots are clickable, although they are quite readable without it):

A little later, the program will offer to install some system monitoring tools; they will be useful for those who do not use other similar programs(for example, Real Temp/Core Temp for monitoring the temperature of the processor and video cards, and HDD Sentinel, which monitors the temperature of hard drives, etc.). I have the software installed for these purposes, so I unchecked all the boxes:

The next settings window offers to set more informative drive icons than those found in Windows XP by default. If you have Vista or Windows 7, then this is not necessary.

At the end of the settings wizard, we will be asked to mark three points, of which I left only the first. I did not watch the proposed video, perhaps it will be interesting to someone. And checking for updates is pointless, the software has not been updated since 2010 and is unlikely to be updated in the near future (the authors are looking for a programmer to update it, but this is not a quick task).

Before moving on to the main information tabs of the program, I advise you to look at the settings:

What do we need here? Personally, the first thing I did was set up hotkey calling the program with Ctrl+Alt+Insert. In the "Security" section, it will be useful for beginners (and not only them) to check the boxes so that AnVir Task Manager does not allow the blatant self-prescription of other software for startup, and also prevents the change home page in Internet Explorer.

I skip the section "Icons and tray menus" because... We don’t display anything there, but in “Advanced” there are a couple interesting moments. “Delayed loading” can be useful if you need to force a program placed into autoload when the PC starts to start not immediately, but after some time has passed (the time is configurable). If your system is installed on a hard drive, this can be useful (because when there are about 20 programs at startup and everything is loaded at the same time, nothing good usually happens in terms of computer boot speed), but for an SSD it is not important.

On the same tab you can configure the parameters for creating a log; sometimes viewing this same log is very useful to find out about running processes on PCs and their activities. Check digital signatures files can be disabled, I personally don’t use it. Storing settings is at your discretion. To make the program portable, you need to set the value to "Anvir.ini" (file in the folder with the program), instead of "Registry".

There is a very useful thing in the “Minimize to tray” menu - you can set a key, by holding down which (I use Shift, i.e. the default key) you can minimize almost any program to tray, even if the software never had this option initially . A very convenient “feature”, I recommend it!

In the "Security" section there are two sub-items - "Startup protection" and "Blocked processes". The first serves to prevent some particularly intrusive programs from registering themselves for autoload (there is such arrogant software that when it starts, it puts itself on autoload, and as soon as you remove it from there, it does it again).

“Blocked processes” is a customizable list of programs that we instruct AnVir Task Manager to disable automatically. For example, you know the name malicious file(there are viruses so stupid that they don’t change their own name) and you need to prevent it from running. Enter the file name and path to it - and you're done! I personally blocked the OSD process (rtss.exe) from MSI Afterburner, because I have Fraps for these purposes, and I don't need on-screen monitoring.

For weak computers The option to temporarily lower the priority of a process in automatic mode may be useful.

Changing the priority of processes in manual mode quite a useful thing. Unlike the previous method of manipulating priorities (automatic), this one allows you to strictly set priority for certain user-selectable processes. It is quite appropriate to reduce the priority to “below average” for all monitoring programs, which is what I personally did. And games can be set high if necessary.

I never used the “Run as a service” option, because there was no need. I think the meaning is clear - AnVir Task Manager allows you to run any process as a service, i.e. You won’t see this program in the list of running software in the task manager.

Also, AnVir Task Manager has a built-in tweaker for Windows.

In fact, this program does not belong to AVTM, so I won’t describe its hundreds of functions; I’m sure the Internet is full of guides on this software.

Autoload allows you to control almost all methods automatic download various software- both from the registry and from the Startup folder in Windows. By right-clicking on any element of the startup list, a drop-down menu becomes available, with which you can find out where this or that program is launched from (i.e. see the path), disable this or that menu item (to do this, uncheck the box to the left of the program name) from startup or to prevent any program from getting there at all (menu item "Disable (Quarantine)". There is other functionality, but I rarely use it.

The Applications tab shows which programs are running and which folders are open. There are differences with standard Dispatcher Windows tasks No.

But in the “Processes” tab lies the huge functionality of the AVTM software. About each of the processes located in the PC’s RAM, you can see everything that is possible - the file name, the name of the program, its manufacturer, the launch location (path), the percentage of its processor load (and how much RAM it consumes), the place from where it starts in startup and so on (other things can be configured by right-clicking in top part list, the place where the inscriptions “process”, “product” and so on are located).

If you right-click on any process, you can see a menu that allows you to perform various manipulations with the processes. In most cases, the names of the drop-down menu items speak for themselves, I can only emphasize the usefulness of the “Restart” item (it’s faster than manually turning off and on a hung program), freeing up memory (I sometimes have to resort to this item, 4GB of RAM is not a joy ). I'm glad that you can quickly go to the folder of any of the processes without bothering with copying the address (path) and pasting it into Windows Explorer. Plus, it’s never superfluous to check any process online for viruses using VirusTotal.com (option - “Check on the website”).

Remember, a little earlier I wrote about manual installation priorities for programs? From the application window you can specify which program receives which priority (and the assigned priority can be assigned to the program; this is done in the “Automatically change” menu item).

Adding a program to the blocked list is done as follows:

After clicking on “Add to blocked (Quarantine)”, the following window appears, we have already seen it before:

On the penultimate tab of the software there is a list running services. It also contains detailed information about each of the services.

It happens that some programs are rarely used, so it makes sense to temporarily disable the services they use, or rather, change their startup type, from “Auto” to “Request” (however, you can completely disable it, put it in “Quarantine”, but it’s better not resort to such radical measures without confidence in their necessity).

The last tab in the main menu of the program shows Log, i.e. actions carried out by one or another process. Some people will find this useful, but others will not. I decided not to disable the Log; you never know if the recorded data will be useful in the future.

That's all, comrades. I hope this short material was useful to you. I continue to use AnVir Task Manager and am more than pleased with its capabilities, the only slightly annoying moment is that scrolling the list of processes could be faster/smoother, but if you don’t find fault with this, then everything is fine. The software takes up little space, consumes only 15 megabytes of RAM, provides enormous opportunities for managing processes and startup elements, and everything is in Russian and free. As our American colleagues would say in this case - Give it a Try!
