• Blocking unknown numbers for Android in Russian. How to Block Calls on Your Android Phone

Most smartphones offer the ability to block a phone number to avoid receiving spam calls or other calls you don't want.

Sometimes operating systems hide these features deep in the settings. Additionally, different mobile operators offer different options for blocking numbers, so this feature is not always completely dependent on operating system.

    Block incoming phone calls (numbers)

All major operating systems mobile phones offer a way to block a mobile phone number.

    Android phones

Since many manufacturers produce phones running operating Android systems, the procedure for blocking a number can vary greatly. Additionally, versions and above do not offer this feature. If you use more old version, your carrier may support it, or you can block the number using the app.

To find out if your carrier supports locking on your phone:

    1. Open the Phone application.
    2. Select the number you want to block.
    3. Open the contact's details.
    4. Open Menu (top right or left button), if your operator supports blocking numbers, you will see Add number to blacklist or something similar.

If you don't have the option to block the number, you can at least forward the call to voicemail:

    1. Open the Phone application.
    2. Click on Contacts.
    3. Click on the contact's name.
    4. Click on the pencil to edit the contact.
    5. Select menu.
    6. Select Send all calls to voicemail.

To use the application to block numbers:

Open Play Store and search for "call blocker". Some well known apps are Call Blocker Free, Mr. Number and Safest Call Blocker. Some are free and display ads, while some offer a premium version without ads.

    iOS phones

You can block a number from the Recents section of your phone, in FaceTime, or within messages. Blocking a number from one section blocks all three. From each section:

    1. Tap the "i" icon next to a phone number (or conversation).
    2. Select "Block this caller" at the bottom of the Information screen.

Warning: Apple iOS only recently started supporting incoming call blocking starting with release 7.0, so iOS users more early version can only block calls by jailbreaking their phone (hacking the firmware). To do this you need to use alternative store Cydia applications to download and install an application that blocks numbers. Hacking the firmware is not recommended as it will void your warranty. Instead try going to new version operating system.

    View and manage blocked numbers:

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Click Phone.
    3. Tap Call Blocking and Identification.
    4. Then one of two things:
    • Select a phone number to view details and select Add or Unblock a number or contact.
    • Add a contact to block by scrolling to the bottom of the list of all blocked numbers and selecting Block Contact. This will bring up a list of all your contacts so you can choose who to block.

iMessages Filter: You can also filter messages from people who are not in your contacts list.

Once you filter at least one message, the new tab"Unknown senders." You will still receive messages, but they will not automatically appear and you will not receive any notifications.

    To filter iMessages:

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Click Messages.
    3. Turn on the Unknown Senders filter.
    Windows phones

Block calls on Windows phones varies.

    For Windows 8:

Windows 8 uses an application to filter calls and SMS.

    • To activate the feature, first go to Settings and then Call & SMS Filtering. Accept the terms and then click the Block Calls & SMS button to enable blocking.
    • To block a number, open the Phone app to view your call history. Long press the number you want to block to view context menu and select Block number.

If you do not want to answer calls from specific subscribers, the black list comes to the rescue. But how to block calls on an iPhone if the number cannot be determined or the phone is not in the contacts list? This feature exists, and it will be useful for all iPhone owners to know about it.

    Blocking incoming calls

As a rule, calls with the status “No subscriber ID” and “Unknown” come to the iPhone from robots and various marketing departments. They can be blocked, like all incoming calls from an unknown number. Performing the operation carries a certain risk: if friends or relatives call you from a number that is not among your contacts, they will not be able to establish contact. If there is no such danger, follow these steps:

    1. Open standard application"Settings" and go to the "Do not disturb" section.
    2. Enable the "Manual" option.

After activating the option, a crescent moon icon will appear in the status bar near the clock. This means that the device will not make any sounds: you will not hear any notifications or calls. To overcome this block, it is necessary to give individual subscribers special permission.

    1. In the Do Not Disturb section, tap Allow Calls.
    2. Select “From Favorites” if you have previously added all the necessary numbers to the “Favorites” list.
    3. Select All Contacts mode or create special group contacts from whom calls should be routed.

Those numbers that are not added to the allowed list will not be able to reach you. Please note that the feature mutes calls and notifications. Therefore, it is recommended not to keep it constantly on, but to set a specific time.

For example, let the Do Not Disturb mode turn on in the evenings, from 22:00 to 07:00 the next day. During the specified period, only those you allow will be able to call you; the iPhone will block other calls.

    Adding to the blacklist

If a specific subscriber is bothering you, it is easier to block him by sending him to the blacklist.

    1. Open your contact list.
    2. Find the person you no longer want to contact. Press the "i" button to open the information menu.
    3. Scroll down the menu and tap Block.

To check if you have this feature, open the Phone app, tap on the number you'd like to block. Next, click on the “Details” icon, then on “Menu” in the right top menu screen. If your mobile operator supports the blocking function, you will see the words “Add to Blacklist” or “Reject call”.

This action will add the caller to your blacklist of numbers to reject.

    Follow the diagram:

    1. "Settings" > " Wireless connections and Networks > Calls.
    2. Next, click on the “Reject calls” icon, then on “Reject calls from” to see a list of blocked numbers. You can add numbers to this list by clicking on the “+” icon at the top right, or remove them from this list. You can also reject all calls from unknown (private) numbers.
