• Let's understand the AIMP media player. Setting up functionality. We optimize to the fullest

is a very popular audio player. It has many settings, supports large number music formats, has the ability to create playlists and so on. We previously mentioned this player in ours, in which AIMP took first place.

Unlike its main competitor - Winamp, the AIMP audio player has more functionality when adjusting the equalizer, namely more frequency bands for tuning. This allows you to significantly better customize the sound of music tracks.

AIMP also has 22 equalizer settings, each of which affects almost any musical genre.

To start setting up the equalizer, you first need to open it. To do this, on the main screen of the program we find the button “ Equalizer" Visually, it consists of successive arrows pointing in one direction.

A small window will appear to the left of the program’s working screen, containing the previously mentioned frequency bands. Each of them can be configured using the mouse cursor.

To automatically enable equalizer settings (previously mentioned as subsettings), which depend on the genre of the tracks being played, you must click on the “ button in the equalizer window Equalizer settings" Then in the submenu that appears, click on the command " Load settings".

Then the dialog box " Equalizer settings"and a list of available music genres. Select the one you need from this list and click the " Apply".

That's all, now you can enjoy listening to music in the AIMP audio player, having previously configured the equalizer in it.

    Setting up Aimp player

Hello everyone who is in at the moment is a user of this site. Today we will look at the process of setting up a famous program, its name is AIMP. Although the program is quite simple to set up, and it may seem that the description of this procedure is useless, but in fact it is not.

The experience of using programs of this type is different for all users, because for some, setting up AIMP is a “trivial” matter, and for others it is a “dense forest”. In addition to all this, even if you already have installed and configured this program, it wouldn’t hurt to go through the settings again, perhaps you’ll find something interesting for yourself.

In order not to beat around the bush for too long, let's look at the process of setting up AIMP.

An example setup will use AIMP version v2.61, build 583, and the default skin “Euphoria” will also be used.

All program settings can be divided into six categories, these are:

    1. Playback

    4. Templates

    1. Playback

“Sound output device” - in this menu item. You need to choose which device will play the sound (by sound, of course: tracks, songs, any sound recordings). All devices that are available for audio output can be viewed by clicking on the “pop-up” list. In our case it is: sound scheme default (windows default), sound interface SPDIF sound card VIA. But you need to understand that this is only an example; each user’s device may be different. Devices can be switched between each other, possibly specific device will seem better to you than others. For the review we will use a VIA sound card.

Next, you need to select the type of software mixing; it is located to the right of the playback device selection list. This option must be enabled and the 32-bit mixing type must be selected. Enabling this option makes the output sound fuller sounding and similar to real sound.

When the computer is under increased load, we sometimes hear “slowdown” in the sound. To avoid this, we need to move the “buffer size” option slider almost to the end. If you have never observed this defect, then it is better to leave everything as is.

“Logarithmic volume control” to set it up, you need to add volume on the speakers, and then adjust the volume directly in the player. The main purpose of this option is to increase/decrease the sound volume level by a “logarithmic” level.

The volume level changes at a qualitative level when using this option.

“Sound effects” - I think this option is clear to many, since the setting is personal. "DSP-Manager" is where you can focus your attention. To get into the DSP-Manager settings, you need to click on the button with the name of the option.

“Echo” - playback with shades of echo, is achieved by turning on this option.

“Reverb” - adding an additional echo display. Simply put, this option adds echo in the specified amount, and is reminiscent of the sound in large indoor spaces. This is actually a very interesting option and worth considering.

“Chorus” - Although the option means “singing in chorus”, in fact the effect is not very noticeable when turned on

“Flanger” - this option plays sound with a reverse signal. To be honest, it’s not clear what it could be useful for, except for some kind of jokes.

"Stereo Enhancer" - stereo amplifier. From the name itself it is clear that when this option is enabled, the sound will be saturated with a stereo effect. But if you turn the settings to maximum, expect a headache.

For example, “auto-sound equalization” and channel reverse, these settings can really improve the sound quality.

“Replay Gain” many people simply do not feel it; some hear the sound being played back in some “disorder”. We considered this option useless and did not spend much time considering it.

Removing voices using a filter. I haven’t personally used it, but I think it’s suitable for people who record tracks on their own and need a backing track. Another interesting option is adjusting the playback speed, sometimes even funny. Also, do not be afraid that you will not return everything as it was, since there is a “default settings” button.

Mixing the sound towards 1 of the two between speakers/headphones (for example) occurs when the “Balance” option is set

“Winamp DSP Plug” is a plugin that is used for Winamp, we will not use it.

Once setup is complete, most users look for familiar button“Save changes” or “OK”, but you won’t find them here, so just click the “cross” in the right corner of the program.

Let's look at the following customization categories.

    2. Playlist

(to enlarge the image, click on it)

“Interface” - everything here is quite simple and clear. To see the labels of folder names, you need to insert the value “%ParentDir%” into the “Break into categories” line. This can be highlighted as the main advice for this option. But you can also use additional items settings:

When a file is selected, display information about it.

    Display time and columns

The remaining items can simply be turned off; you may like this option.

“Playlist” - in this category you can safely check all the boxes, but remove one that is not convenient. This is the second checkbox that opens bookmarks in new group playlist.

“Saving” - this option is responsible for saving playlists, if you do not want to save them, just leave the settings at “default”. These settings are fairly self-explanatory. And you can figure them out on your own.

“Automation” in masonry is included in this group. So that the files that are added to the playlist are played in “random” order, in mandatory You must enable the option “When adding files, automatically scan the playlist.” You also need to set the option to automatically skip to the next track. If you don’t put it on, the track being played will be repeated, but if you suddenly need it, it’s convenient to do it from the main menu by pressing one button.

We did not consider the remaining options in this group, since we did not consider them important.

“At the end of playing the playlist,” the standard solution is to repeat the playlist. But users are different, and someone can create dozens of playlists, and at the end of one, switch to another automatically. Also, the option “do not repeat a sheet if it contains one file” is convenient for some and not for others.

“Drag & Drop” - the literal translation of this option speaks for itself. “Take and throw” - a manipulator is used for this action. Again, it all depends on the user, for some it is convenient to simply add tracks to the end of the list, for others in a draggable area. But the main thing is to uncheck the “ask the user” box, otherwise the pop-up window will not give you peace. But the “Sort by name” function is a very convenient functionality, so it is advisable to enable it.

    When opening files:

    - “Creating a new Playlist” - this means that if you add a folder to play using the “ADD” function buttons, the playlist will change its name to the corresponding folder name.

    - “Add to this playlist” - I think it’s not worth describing, everything is clear.

    - “Add default” - if you add new folder to play, a playlist is created with a default name, and this is "default".

Opinions vary, but in practice the first option is the most practical.

Another option that can be added to the list of not very useful, at least for most users, is “After opening the audio file, start playing.” If you disable this option when opening a file on your computer, it will not be played immediately, but will only launch the AIMP player. There is also a similar option that immediately plays files when adding them to the playlist or vice versa.

    3. Player

The settings when starting the program require special attention. Advice, immediately remove the “bird” - “Minimize program to tray”. Most people simply notice that the program has already started, and then stubbornly “click” on the shortcut, and do not understand why it does not start. One more useful option“Do nothing on startup”, just consider the situation if you turn on your computer late at night or early in the morning and when you open the program at full volume, playback starts through the speakers. It is very convenient to configure the “hot keys” of the program, which significantly increases ease of use, the so-called “usability”. To change the action being performed hotkey, you need to double-click against it, then press the button that will be responsible for this action.

(to enlarge the image, click on it)

    4. Templates

All these obscure words and abbreviations are shorthand variables that format a template that is subsequently used for the line and playlist. If you are interested in this, just repeat the examples, it's quite easy.

    5. System

(to enlarge the image, click on it)

If you are tired of the AIMP program logo, you can remove it using this particular settings category. This group is also full of others interesting settings, For example:

    - “Show information about the current track on the taskbar”

    - “Allow viewing track information using scrolling”

    - “Auto-start program”

    - “Integration of AIMP to system

But you should understand that these settings affect the CPU load, albeit slightly.

On the “Tray” tab, you can enable or disable pop-up windows, as you wish. You can also change the display of the button in the tray.

(to enlarge the image, click on it)

If you want. In order for all audio files to be opened in the AIMP player, you need to set the association of the files with this program. This can be done in the File Association tab. But this player only opens audio files; you can use KMP-player to play videos.

    6. Interface

(to enlarge the image, click on it)

This category of settings is classified as purely individual; there cannot be the right advice and so on. Therefore, a simple description of your own settings will be presented, and whether to install them or not is up to each person. It is also worth saying that some settings affect the performance of the computer. If your personal computer weak in hardware configuration, these settings should not be used, especially the “transparency” option.

To avoid malfunctions in the program, I do not recommend installing a large number of covers at the same time.

Let only high-quality music and the same high-quality playback accompany you through life.

Hello readers of my blog. Marat Nauruzbaev is with you. Many of you are wondering which audio player to use to listen to music with a wide range of features and that it is free? Standard windows player does not always satisfy the needs of the average user, has a not entirely clear interface and is also “heavy”. Among the wide variety of audio players, the one I liked the most is simple and at the same time has a large number of settings, has earned many awards and is also a free player Aimp. There is a version for Windows and Android, and there is a portable version that can be used directly from a flash drive without installing the program.

In this article we will talk about how to download and install Aimp, as well as how to set up Aimp and how to use it to listen to music and other mp3 files. As always, I will describe the process in detail with pictures and videos. So, let's go...

    • Where and how to downloadAimp
    • InstallationAimp
    • SettingsAimp
    • How to useAimp

To download audio playerAimp, go to the official website of the program aimp.ru, chapter "Download", select the latest (non-Beta) version and click “ Download from server»

    InstallationAimp

Launch the file downloaded to your computer. We select the language we need. In addition to Russian, there is a large selection of other languages, including Ukrainian, Belarusian, Kazakh and other languages

The Aimp installation wizard starts. Click " Next»

We agree with license agreement by checking the appropriate box. Click " Next»

Select installation options: installation folder, program version (portable or regular), click " Next»

Uncheck the installation boxes additional programs. Click " Next»

Selecting integration options in Windows. I recommend leaving the default checkboxes. Click " Install»

Aimp player will begin to install on your computer

After installation, you can leave the checkbox “ LaunchAimp" and press " Complete»

Our Aimp player will launch with default settings

    SettingsAimp

First let's set up the Aimp equalizer. For those who don’t know what an equalizer is, I’ll say briefly that it’s an adjustment of frequency (sound pitch). By default, in Aimp all frequencies are set to the middle position and this does not always suit us, in particular me :) So, you can customize the Aimp equalizer to your liking, and it has equalizer presets, so setting it up won’t be too difficult.

Click the leftmost button at the top of the equalizer

An additional menu will appear where we select “ Load setting»

A window with equalizer presets will appear, where we can select any add-on. I usually choose " Techno", you can choose any other one to your taste. Moreover, if you have music playing in Aimp, you can immediately hear how the equalizer settings change the timbre of the sound. Just remember to turn on the Aimp equalizer by moving the button above it from the “ Off" V " On».

Turn on the equalizer and close it

A window will open with many player settings. You can go through all the setup sections and customize Aimp for yourself. I will show you only those settings that I usually change myself. This needs to be done only once and then forget about it.

In the settings window, click the section “ Display Settings" On the right in the playlist display settings, click “ Scaling" and select the display scale by moving the slider left and right. I usually set the scale to 120%. You set the scale to suit you.

A little lower in the section “ Display Settings"Uncheck the box" Show second line with information" and uncheck the " Show ratings».

After this setup, our playlist in Aimp will firstly look larger, and secondly, each song in the playlist will occupy one line, not two

Next, in the settings, click on the section “ System» — « File associations" and check that we have ticks in " Audio files | Playlists | Covers" This is necessary so that if you are in Windows Explorer launched some MP3 file (music is usually stored in this format) or another music file, it opened in the Aimp player and not in another player...

In the section " Interface" - "Covers""You can choose a different cover (skin) for the Aimp player. By default, several covers are “built into” the Aimp distribution, but if you wish, you can download any other cover (skin) you like on the Internet and add them to the player by clicking the “ Review" in this section. Moreover, you can change the color scheme of the selected cover simply by moving the sliders left and right in this settings section. After changing all the settings, click " Apply" And " Close»

Aimp also has a visualizer that is displayed in a small player window, but can be expanded to full screen by double-clicking on it with the left mouse button (LMB). To add a visualization, right-click on the Aimp visualization window and select " Visualization mode" Next, choose any visualization you like. I’ll just add many other visualization plugins that can also be downloaded from the Internet and added to the Aimp player

    How to useAimp

It's time to show you how to use such a wonderful audio player Aimp. There is nothing complicated about it, you just need to understand how to add music to Aimp and which buttons to press to control the playback of your music.

So, to add a music folder to Aimp, in the main player window at the very bottom, click on the plus button “ + " and select " Folders»

Select the folder on your computer where you store your music, check the box next to it and click “ OK»

We see that in the main Aimp window (in the playlist) our files from the selected folder have been added. In general, you can add not only folders, but also individual files, playlists, and even links from the Internet. Now we can start any file in the playlist for playback by simply clicking on it 2 times with LMB or pressing the " Play»

Your favorite song is finally playing in the cool Aimp player.

Now I will explain to you the meaning of the control buttons. Look at the picture, I have labeled each button or function with a number from 1 to 10

    1. Play
    2. Pause
    3. Stop playback
    4. Previous track
    5. Next track
    6. Open file(s)
    7. Show/hide “equalizer”
    8. Show/hide “playlist”
    9. Volume
    10. File navigation

And I almost forgot. There is another cool feature of the Aimp player. In a playlist, files are usually played in order (top to bottom), but you can set your own order for playing files. To do this, click once on a specific song and press the " Q" will appear to the right of the song name serial number its reproduction, in in this case « 1 " Then click again, but this time on next song, which you want to play after the previous one and press the " key again Q" “” will appear to the right of the song name. 2 " And so on. This way we can set our own file playback order. Cool, isn't it? Especially this function is good when you are having parties and you can prepare a list of songs to play in a certain order in advance.

Aimp has the ability to add multiple playlists. To add a new playlist, right-click next to the title of an existing playlist and select " New playlist»

Enter a name for the new playlist and click " OK»

A new empty playlist will be created with your name, to which you can also add music. Convenient isn't it? And I think there are a lot of such playlists you can create, I created 10 of them. There are only two in the picture :)

When we pressed the plus button " + ” at the bottom of the Aimp window, we added files to the player playlist. If we press the minus “-” button, we can clear the playlist, delete selected files from the playlist, and even delete selected files from the computer disk!

How can we find a specific song in the Aimp playlist? To do this, at the bottom of the player in the search field, enter the initial letters of the artist or the name of the composition and Aimp will immediately show matches with the names of the compositions in the playlist

If we minimize the Aimp player, its window will take on a minimalist appearance near the tray, where you can also control the most necessary player commands: start, pause and stop the composition, next and previous tracks, navigate through the file and adjust the volume

    Conclusion

Among a wide variety of both paid and free audio players, Aimp really stood out among them with its great functionality, easy and, moreover, Russified interface, and most importantly, it is free. Its interface is made for convenience ordinary users, it plays many well-known audio formats, can play Internet radio, and has a version for Windows and Android. All these advantages were probably appreciated by millions of Aimp users around the world, and I was among them.

I described how to install Aimp, how to configure it and how to use it. If you have any questions about using it, feel free to ask them in the comments. I’m saying goodbye to you for a moment, and if you liked the article, click on the buttons social networks, I won’t be offended :) And don’t forget to follow the release of my new articles on the blog, and I will try to meet your expectations.

And finally, as usual, my video on how to install and configure Aimp

After the release of AIMP v3.0, I began to receive a lot of emails about the fact that the program began to work slower and eat more than AIMP2. In this note, I would like to tell you why this happened, and what you can do about it if you wish.

Startup time and amount of memory used

    Plugins

First of all, plugins affect the amount of memory usage than more of them are connected, those more memory consumes the program becomes less responsive.

Now in AIMP there are two types of plugins - loaded at startup, loaded as needed. The last type includes visualization plugins - the plugin is loaded when visualization is turned on, and unloaded when it is turned off.

Solution: Disable unnecessary and rarely used plugins (see Settings\Plugins).

    Skins

In AIMP3, the skin engine was significantly changed, and, accordingly, the internal structure of skins - thanks to this, it was possible to increase the skin loading speed, however, at the moment this is not very noticeable for the following reasons:

    • Most of the skins were made for AIMP2, so when loading the player spends extra time converting skins from the old format to the new one.
    • Some skins include additional fonts that are integrated into the system when downloaded.

Solution: Use original skins for AIMP3, try to avoid skins with built-in fonts.

    Playlists

AIMP3 has a smart playlist downloader - it loads the contents of playlists as needed, so you no longer need to worry about how many playlists you have open in the player - the number of open playlists no longer affects the loading time of the player.

    System integration functions

When launched, the program integrates into the taskbar - adds an icon to the notification area and expands the functionality of the button on the taskbar (available starting from Windows 7). Depending on the state of “health” and the OS load, performing these two functions can take up to 10 seconds (!) (in a normal situation, these functions are performed in a fraction of a second).

    Solution: Disable these functions.
As it was in v2: AIMP2 also has this feature, however, in it the functionality extensions of the button on the taskbar are implemented by a separate plugin, which was disabled by default.

    Caching the playing file

Caching allows you to avoid frequent calls to hard drive As the entire file is played, the file is instead loaded into memory at the time of playback, and then the player plays it from memory. Depending on the buffer size, the file can be loaded into memory in whole or in part. By default, the buffer size is 5 MB (Only valid for AIMP3.0).

Solution: Set buffer size to 0 (see Settings\Playback).

    CPU load

    Animation and graphic effects

With the advent of support for translucent textures and accompanying effects (background blur, animation, etc.), the skin engine began to require more CPU resources for rendering. Of course, on modern hardware the difference is practically not visible, but on older systems the difference is significant - the load rises up to 100%.

I've seen advice on the Internet to use skins from AIMP2 in order to get rid of translucency and thereby speed up rendering. In fact, this solution will not work - there is only one engine and it works with all versions of skins the same - the skin engine converts old skins into a new format.

Solution 1: On the “Interface” tab in the program settings, there are options that allow you to disable most graphical gadgets.
Solution 2: Use skins with the least amount of moving parts - no signal levels, visualization display, spectrum display, etc.
Solution 3: Disable ticker animation (see Settings\Templates).

    Playlist

Playlist modern version AIMP displays a huge amount of information, so the more information is displayed, the more time it takes to render it. The heaviest element is information about the track’s rating (it doesn’t matter in what form it is displayed - graphic or text).

Solution: Disable the display of unnecessary playlist elements (see Settings\Playlist\Display settings).

Sound engine settings and sound effects

Undoubtedly, along with graphic effects, sound effects play an important role in the use of processor resources.

I've come across the opinion that to achieve the best sound, you need to set the program settings to the highest available quality. This is not true. The sound won't get better, of course, the player will try to build up the signal to required format, but the original, originally recorded in this format, would have given much best result. By increasing the audio output quality parameters, you increase the load on the processor. First, when the sample rate of the input file does not match the output rate, the resampler starts working. Secondly, the “higher” the output parameters, the more data the sound engine passes through.

Solution 1: Set the audio output settings to match the format of the majority of your audio files.
Solution 2: Try not to use an equalizer, as well as other sound effects and filters.

    Surgical intervention

AIMP is a modular structure - each function / set of functions similar in topic is implemented by a separate module. Most of the modules are hardwired into the kernel (AIMP3.dll), but some modules are included in separate libraries (DLLs), which are not plugins, but which can also be disabled. We will talk about them. Straightaway I want to warn you, What Disabling these libraries is done at your own peril and risk.

    Audio converter

If you do not use an audio converter or any of the codecs, you can remove them.

    • AIMP3ac.exe is the main converter application.
    • Modules\aimp_libvorbis.dll – encoder in OGG format. Used as both a converter and a player for radio recording.
    • Modules\libFLAC.dll – encoder in FLAC format. Currently used only by the converter.
    • Modules\MACDll.dll – encoder in APE format. Currently used only by the converter.
    • Modules\wavpackdll.dll – encoder in WavPack format. Currently used only by the converter.
    • Modules\lame_enc.dll – MP3 encoder (installed separately). Currently used only by the converter.

It is worth noting that of the above components, only one affects the player - the encoder in the OGG format.

    Music library

The music library components are integrated into all AIMP components - this helps ensure that the data in the database is up to date.

    • AIMP3lib.dll is a music library engine that collects statistics and monitors the relevance of data in the database. Integrates into all other AIMP applications.
    • AIMP3lib.exe is a browser application for the music library database.

If you do not use the music library, ratings, and you are not interested in statistics, both of these components can be removed.

    Auxiliary modules

I classified only one as auxiliary modules - aimp_mediakeys.dll; this component implements support for multimedia keys for some types of keyboards. If without this file you do not experience problems with multimedia keys, you can safely delete it.

Note: Deleted components will be restored after installing an update or reinstalling the program.

Of all the listed methods, I usually only used disabling pixel-by-pixel translucency - this significantly reduces the load on WinXP.

    2. Xwansu

Previously, I disabled various plugins in Winamp to make it load faster. And it helped. I haven't used it for a long time. AIMP has 13 input plugins, it would be nice to add them detailed description so that the user does not disable anything necessary. Or is this already in the help? (I didn't find it)

      1. Dolmatov Alexey (Alex)

Each plugin has a description in English under its name

Ok, example. Let's take the first Speex for the Bass library plugin we come across. Why is it needed, what does it affect, do I need it... What happens if I turn it off? Of course, I can Google all 13 of them...

          1. Post author

Input plugins are responsible for what formats the player can play. This plugin responsible for the Speex format

Now it remains to figure out what file formats the remaining plugins are responsible for. There are 13 plugins and 35 supported file extensions.

The AIMP2 program came to our laboratory for research, we now need to find out what kind of program it is and make a diagnosis - how necessary it is on a regular computer. I convened a council to decide on a plan of action. Let's start studying

Based on the first data, I realized that AIMP2 is an audio player, you can listen to all kinds of music, it has an equalizer and visualization. It supports the creation of playlists, there is a repeat function, a regular player, probably even convenient.

One employee of our research center turned out to be a user of this program - I called him in for questioning. He said that he likes AIMP2 and has been using it for a long time, but a strange thing was noticed - the employee only uses the second version. The fact is that we found out that the third and fourth versions were released a long time ago. When the employee asked why the second version, he answered that the second version played better... He was clearly hiding something...

This is what a regular Aimp 2 looks like:

Here is an older version - this is Aimp 1:

Aimp was made by one programmer, a simple guy from somewhere, users liked the player, it went to the masses, and became popular..

On official forum Aimp you can find a bunch of all sorts of good stuff - sound improvement plugins (some really load up the CPU), a bunch of covers (but not all of them are pretty), and all sorts of libraries that are like plugins.. Interesting, but in practice it’s not clear IS all this good stuff NEEDED?

Aimp 2 in a fashionable cover:

We can say that AIMP2 is already an old program - because everyone uses Aimp 4. I mean all this for those who, in principle, like Aimp.

    Mega cool cover:

I can’t say anything bad about the player - I listen to music on YouTube

There are a lot of things in the player settings, it’s easy to understand. There is a running line - when the player starts playing a song, a line with the file name, bitrate and something else appears at the top of the screen.. All this can be configured. The player also minimizes to tray; this option can also be configured. The player can really be customized to suit you.

If not needed this program worth deleting - go to Start and select this item:

Find the Programs and Features icon and launch it.
