• Where to buy and how to register a domain (domain name): step-by-step instructions. How and where is the best way to register a domain name?

If you haven't figured it out yet domain name, then read the article about how to come up with a domain for a website . Well, if the domain is ready, then it’s time to register it!!!

Where can I register a domain name?

The domain name can be registered with accredited registrars, full list which can be viewed on the website of the “Coordination Center for the National Internet Domain”. The most popular registrar is "REG.RU".

Or resellers - these are partners of accredited registrars. Resellers can be both individuals and various companies. Typically, resellers are: hosting companies, specialized domain resellers, etc. Here I can mention 2domains - this is a hosting provider and reseller.

2domains - is an official reseller (partner) of one of the most popular accredited registrars in Russia REG.RU I registered my domain name with 2domains, which is why I recommend it to you. In the next article I will clearly show how to register a domain name on 2domains.ru, where I will register my new domain.

What is the difference between registering a domain from an accredited registrar and its reseller partner?

Accredited Registrar for example REG.RU, this is large company, which directly registers domains. There are more than 100 resellers (partners) alone at the time of writing, you can see a detailed list, among them there are 2domains.

An accredited registrar is fully responsible for the maintenance and safety of domains registered with them. Specializes in the sale of domain names wholesale, through resellers. When selling domains at retail, the price increases several times. In "REG.RU" the cost of one domain in the ru zone is 590 rubles (at the time of writing).

When registering directly with "REG.RU", it is possible to order a written confirmation of domain ownership. So if anyone needs such a certificate, it’s worth considering. I personally haven't needed it yet.

Reseller for example "2domains", I repeat is official partner registrar "REG.RU". Specializes in wholesale purchase domain names, and their subsequent sale. The cost of a domain name in the ru zone, on 2domains, is only 99 rubles (at the time of writing).

The reseller can: produce certain settings, accept payments, but cannot change the owner of the domain on his own. In fact, when registering through 2domains, your registrar is the company "REG.RU". Here is a screenshot of this blog's WHOIS data. Where we see that the registrar is not 2domains (where I registered the domain), but the company "REG.RU".

What to pay attention to when registering a domain

    1. First and most importantly, an accredited registrar must have integrity. The REG.RU company, although the leader among Russian registrars, is far from the last decent registrar. I can also recommend “Ru-Center”, it is also very popular.

    2. Choose your reseller carefully, there are very, very, many of them now. It is necessary to find one so that the price is not too high and technical support is available. high level. I recommend 2domains because I use it myself.

    3. Read reviews of both registrars and resellers. You can learn a lot from them and draw conclusions about a particular company.

    4. Register domains in your name. Of course, if you are not going to post prohibited content on the site :) The fact is that often bad hosting companies give a gift " free domain", registering it to another person. Thus, you become a victim who fell for free cheese.

And in the end, you can’t change hosting because you’ll lose the domain (it’s not yours!). Or they may require quite a bit of money for domain renewal. This is all in a good situation, in a bad situation you risk losing your domain name!!!

    5. Renew your domain registration in a timely manner, in the ru zone, this is done 56 days before the end of registration and after. You cannot renew your domain registration for more than a year.

    6. Passwords to the domain control panel must be complex and stored securely. I think everyone knows what happens if a password is hacked or lost.

That's all for me, I hope the article was useful!!! It's up to you to decide where to register a domain name. Well, if you decide to register a domain on 2domains, read the next article.

Hi all! This is the first, starting article of my author's blog! Let's imagine this situation: you created a website on your computer, filled it with excellent and useful content, made beautiful design, next stage- this is uploading your website to the Internet web space, namely the purchase of hosting and domain registration.

In principle, there is nothing complicated about this, everything is done quite quickly and easily, but if you are doing this for the first time, you may have a lot of questions and difficulties. For example, you may have questions: how to choose the right domain, where it is cheaper to buy it, how to check its history, where to find a reliable registrar, etc.

Let's start with brief definition. Domain name is the unique address at which the web resource is located. If we give an analogy, we get the following: hosting is the house where the site lives, and the domain is the address where the site’s house is located.

IN real life so, when acquaintances or friends invite you to visit, you enter their address (street and house) into the navigator, it gives you optimal route how to get there and you start following this route and eventually arrive where you need to go. In the case of a site domain, you open your browser (Opera, Mozilla, Google Chrome) V address bar write the site address, press ENTER and instantly find yourself on the web resource you need. Got it? Great!

Let's see what exactly we need to do step by step:

Step 1. Decide on the choice of domain
Step 2. Register on the 2domains.ru service
Step 3. Checking the domain name for availability and registering it

    Step 1. Select a domain

It is very important to choose the right domain name (address) for your future Internet resource. Suppose you need to create a website about building houses, then stroim-dom.ru is perfect, if you want to create your own blog, then your first and last name, like mine (for example), will work well. I hope the meaning is clear to you.

So, we have completed the first step! The next thing to do is register for special service. I buy all my domains on the very convenient and inexpensive site 2domains.ru, so I will show the process of checking for employment and purchasing a domain name on it.

Step 2. Register on the 2domains.ru service

Go to the address 2domains.ru/register.php and click on the registration link, a form will instantly open in front of you that needs to be filled out, it looks like this:

In the form you need to fill in the required fields, which are marked with an asterisk (Last name, e-mail, password, phone number, code word). The registration form is very simple, so you should not have any difficulties filling it out.

After you have filled out all the fields, check the box at the very bottom, by doing this you confirm that you have read and agreed with the terms of the offer agreement, as well as the rules for registering domains. Then click the “Next” button. We can say that we have already done half the work on the topic of how to register a domain name, there is very little left.

If all fields of the form are filled out correctly, then the following window will appear in front of you:

Now you need to confirm your registration; to do this, you need to go to your email that you specified in the form, find the letter from 2domains and follow the special link.

How much does a domain cost?

The next thing you need to do is top up your balance at the registrar. Don't know how much to top it up with? Then let's decide in which zone you want to purchase a domain. The most popular domain zones on the Russian Internet are .ru и.рф.

The cost in such zones is 99 rubles. There are also more expensive zones, such as: .com, .net, .info. To begin with, in order not to spend too much money, I recommend you zone.ru. Below are the prices of our registrar at the time of writing this article:

Now that we have decided on the domain zone, we move on to replenishing the balance. To replenish it, go to the control panel and click on the green “Top up balance” button:

After clicking on the button, a small window will instantly open in front of you with a field where you need to enter the amount with which you want to top up your account:

Enter the required amount and click the green “Next” button. After this, the system will prompt you to choose a replenishment method, select a convenient method, replenish and within 10 minutes the money will appear in your account.

Step 3. Domain occupancy check and registration

So, you have already chosen a domain name, now you need to check if it is busy. To do this, let's go to the control panel and click on the green "Domain" button:

Next, you need to enter your pre-selected domain, suppose I want to register a website, I select the domain zone.ru and put a checkmark in front of it. Click the green “Check” button! The system displays a message that this domain is busy:

In this case, you need to choose a different address. I won’t rack my brains, I’ll try to enter ivan-maslov1.ru:

Great, the domain is free! First of all, I recommend turning on the auto-renewal function so that the system automatically renews your domain 30 days before the end of the period. We will skip the DNS server and IP DNS server fields for now and leave them unchanged; in the next article about hosting I will tell you how to fill them out correctly and where to get the data.

Click on the link here “For RU/SU/RF domains for an individual/IP”, the profile registration form will open, fill in all the fields there (profile name, full name, passport details, etc.), I think you’ll figure it out without me, everything is simple and clear.

ATTENTION! Provide only reliable information. If you provide false data, then in the future this may lead to blocking of all your web resources and you will also not be able to perform any operations with your domains - (sell, transfer, change registrar, etc.). Your data will not be displayed anywhere, it is completely confidential, indicating this data is required only to comply with the rules and laws of the Russian Federation.

After filling out all the form fields, click on the green “Save Profile” button. A small window will open, in it click on the “Continue registration” button. We will be automatically redirected to the registration page where we have already been. Here it is:

Here in the “Select Profile” section, select our newly created profile. Now, our domain name can be registered. But don’t rush to do this and click on the continue button, because before purchasing a domain you need to check its history.

If you do not do this, then you risk buying a domain name that is on the blacklist search engines. In the future you may have big problems with indexing and promotion, because all penalties will automatically go to your web resource.

I've already stepped on this rake once, and believe me, it's better to spend 5 minutes and check the history than for a long time fight for your site and try to get it out of penalties.

Step 4. Check the domain history

To check the history I use the simplest and most popular service whoishistory.ru. I won’t go far, I’ll show you how this service works using Yandex as an example. We enter the address in the field, click the green “Find” button and see the following result:

It is clear and understandable that the Yandex address has been occupied for a very long time, so you can see its large domain history. If, when checking, the service produces a history, then it is definitely better not to register such a web resource address. If his history is as clear as a drop of dew, then feel free to register him right now, before someone else beats you to it.

I repeat once again, before registering a domain name, be sure to check its history, believe me, this is very important. That's all for today. Register your domain, buy hosting and start creating your website or blog today! I wish everyone good luck and patience!

P.S. If you have any questions, ask them in the comments, I will be glad to answer them. Did you like the article? Click on the social buttons. networks!

This brief instructions on domain name registration was prepared for the basic intensive course, but later we decided to post it in open access. By the way, the links in the article contain a referral code, and if you pay for any of the services described, the academy will receive a small percentage of their cost.

    What is a domain name?

Using this name, DNS determines the IP address of the server on which the site is located.

A domain name is divided into levels, which are separated by a dot and counted from the end. The first level of a domain name is the zone. Zones can be territorial (ru, ua, by, and so on) and others (com, org, net, and so on). The “ru” part in the site’s domain name indicates that the site belongs to the Russian Federation.

The second level of a domain name is the domain name itself, in our example it is “htmlacademy”. Anyone can register a domain in most zones, provided that they are free to register. In addition to the first and second, there are also deeper levels.

If you want to understand more deeply how everything works, we recommend you the article “What actually happens when a user types the address google.com into the browser.”

The cost of a domain in the “ru” zone is on average 500 rubles per year. It must be renewed every year.

    Linking a domain to hosting

You can link your domain to any hosting at any time or change hosting if your domain is already linked somewhere. To do this, you need to change the domain settings in your personal account.

If you have registered a new domain and want to link it to an existing hosting, then you need to complete two steps:

Step 1. Find out the NS servers of your hosting

Typically this data is available in your hosting control panel. You can also get them from the support service. Typically, the NS server address looks like this: “ns1.linode.com”, “ns2.linode.com” and so on. There must be at least two of these addresses: one primary and one backup.

Step 2. Specify NS servers in domain settings

To do this, you need to go to your personal account and select “My domains” there. The window that opens will display a list of domains you purchased.

IN last column The table contains information about DNS settings. To change DNS settings, you must click on the word “No” opposite the desired domain. In the opened modal window, enter the NS hosting server.

After this, you need to click the “Add” button. DNS servers may take up to 48 hours to update.

If you want to transfer your domain from one hosting to another, then you need to find out the NS servers of the new hosting and change the domain settings, indicating these servers there.

    Telegram

A domain is the address of a resource on the network, which is usually entered by the user into the address bar of the browser to get to a particular site. It is often also called URL (Uniform Resource Locator).

A domain in the RU zone (type my-domain.ru) can consist of Latin letters, numbers and the hyphen “-” and should not contain more than 63 characters. The minimum length of a domain in the RU zone (excluding the separating dot and zone name) is 2 characters.

Before you begin the domain registration procedure, you need it. Make sure the selected domain name is available. For this check the domain by using information service WHOIS, which contains information about all registered domains.

If the domain is not taken, then you can register it. From June 1, 2006, the Rules for registering domain names in national domain RU. Now, to register a domain, it is not necessary to go to the office of the registrar company and present a passport. Domains are registered on the basis of an agreement concluded in the form of an offer. That is, signing a paper version of the agreement is not necessary - it is enough to accept the terms of the agreement located on the registrar’s website. To register a domain, you just need to go online, fill out a form on the registrar’s website and pay the bill using any in a convenient way from those proposed by the registrar.

The decision to simplify the procedure for registering domains after quite lengthy discussions was made by the Board of the Coordination Center for the RU domain in April 2006. The changes took effect on the first day of summer. Most experts assessed the introduction of changes positively. The main advantage of the innovations is the elimination of “paperwork” for users.

Domain registration is carried out in accordance with the Rules for registration of domain names in the RU domain. Let's consider the procedure for registering a domain in the Domain Registration Center (RU-CENTER).

The registration procedure consists of several steps. To register a domain you need:

    • read the version of the agreement on the RU-CENTER website;
    • fill out the administrator form on the RU-CENTER website;
    • place an order for a domain or other services;
    • transfer money for the ordered services to the RU-CENTER account, which means agreement with the terms of the agreement.

After receiving the money, the domain will be registered, about which RU-CENTER will send a notification by e-mail.

    Filling out the form

There are three forms of the questionnaire - for a legal entity, individual And individual entrepreneur. The form provides the necessary information and selects an individual access password.

Is a paper version of the contract necessary? The decision is yours

By filling out the form, you can receive from the RU-CENTER server the finished text of your agreement with the data from the form. A written version of the agreement is required if the client wishes to pay for RU-CENTER services via the Internet credit card. RU-CENTER recommends drawing up contracts legal entities. You can sign the agreement in two ways: - by arriving at the RU-CENTER office; - download the agreement from the website in two copies, sign it and send it by mail (the second copy will be returned to you after signing by RU-CENTER).

    Domain payment

RU-CENTER offers a wide variety of payment methods for domain registration: cash, non-cash payment, payment using plastic cards and electronic payments.

To avoid losing control of your domain, fill out the form correctly!

In the future, in order to perform certain actions with the domain (for example, transferring domain ownership to another person), the administrator must provide RU-CENTER with supporting documents (as listed on the RU-CENTER website) or a notarized power of attorney. If the data in the administrator's form does not match the data provided, no action will be taken!

Some experts have expressed concerns that the abolition of passport data verification when registering a domain will lead to the emergence of “dead souls” - domains will be registered to non-existent persons. To prevent possible fraud associated with the use of domains registered using inaccurate data, measures have been introduced that limit the number of actions performed by the domain owner until the registrar receives supporting documents, as well as sanctions in the event of information received about the unreliability of the data provided.

The domain is registered. You can breathe a sigh of relief. But this is only the first step. By registering a domain name, you simply reserve the right to use it. In order for the domain to work, i.e. all users typing www.my-domain.ru in their browser got to your site, you need to apply a number more technical solutions. They will help you with this additional services companies RU-CENTER, which can be ordered in the section

When the theory is mastered, then it’s probably time to move on to practice. Today I offer an example the oldest registrar in RuNet consider the entire process of registering (purchasing) a domain name for your website.

How to register a domain name

As I already wrote, it all starts with a hanger, or rather - from searching for options for the name of your site and checking them for employment.

We select a name suitable for registration in RuNet zones

If you are planning to target your website at the RuNet audience, then the following form for checking the occupancy of the domain you have invented will suit you (after all, someone before you may have already invented and registered it):

    Check

    Examples: google, google.com

Proposed names can be entered without a zone (i.e. just pupkin, not pupkin.ru). After clicking on the “Check” button you will be taken to the Reg.ru website. In the list above, zones where this name is already taken will be highlighted in red, and zones where this name is free for registration (purchase) will be highlighted in green.

Let me remind you that this form supports checking only in Runet zones: ru (assigned to Russia), su (a vestige from the era of the Soviet Union) and rf (zone allowing Cyrillic in names). The best option would be the RU zone, in my opinion, because SU is more expensive and not many people know that this is also, as it were, Russia. Domains in the Russian Federation zone have some nuances when promoting a site (mostly solvable), although at first glance they look more advantageous.

Search in other zones and why buy several domains for a website

If you are also interested in other zones (regional or thematic), then no problem. This form is in Reg.ru allows you to check for employment in almost eight hundred different zones at once (just tick them before clicking on the “Select” button).

As a result, the system will give you a complete list of domains available for registration (which you can buy right now):

All you have to do is choose best option(by clicking on the “Select” button, after which it will change to “Selected”). Often several domains are purchased for a website at once- one of them is made the main one (the site is hosted on it), and from the others redirects are placed on the main one (redirection - if you enter such a URL in the browser, it will automatically redirect you to the main name).

Why do they buy domains for a website in other zones? Well, usually, so as not to create competition and speculative situations in the future. Imagine if the name yandex.com did not belong to Yandex - this would be a very good option for the owner. By the way, Google only recently managed to take the Gmail.ru domain under its wing, and before that there was an “alternative” one. postal service, which many people confused with Gmail.

How to buy a selected domain name for a website

In general, select one or more domain options on the registrar’s website (using the appropriate buttons) and you will see a button at the very bottom (see previous screenshot) "Register". A little to the left of it the purchase amount will be indicated, and when you click on the one located left button A pop-up window will appear with a list of all the domain names you have selected (this is like a shopping cart in an online store, which is essentially any registrar).

In the next step you will be asked to choose name registration period. In many zones (including Runet) more one year you can't choose. You need to understand this and remember that if you are at least a month late with your next (annual payment), the domain will be taken away from you and put up for auction:

The registrar, of course, will warn you by email that the paid period is ending, but the letter may or some other force majeure may occur. Therefore, most registrars have such a feature as auto renewal. I strongly recommend that you use it.

In this case, you throw a reserve amount of money into your balance, and the system itself will renew it two months before the end of the domain name registration period, using this money. Very convenient function, which is why it is included in Reg.ru by default. It is not recommended to uncheck this box.

Personal data provided when purchasing a domain and hiding it from Whois

In the next step you will have to fill out a lot of fields with personal information about you. You won’t be able to skip this step and buy a domain anonymously - these are the rules and registrars strictly follow them (at least the official ones). The sad thing is that this information will, in theory, be recorded on the Whois server (see link above) and will be available to everyone.

If you intentionally “encrypt” (distort personal information), then in the event of force majeure you will not be able to defend your rights to the name of the site, which is a disaster. However, most registrars allow these hide personal data from Whois(the data from the registrar itself is sent there). Sometimes this is offered by default, sometimes you will need to check the necessary boxes, and sometimes they may require an additional fee for this.

At the very end, it makes sense to check two boxes so that this data does not have to be manually entered again when purchasing other domain names from this registrar:

Well, about the tick “Hide personal data” which is the default, I already said a little higher. Personally, I think this option is necessary, because there are scammers on the Internet who thrive on the Internet and who may use your personal data for their next scam (there can be a lot of ways to use them - from a direct threat to infiltration of trust). Overall, keep your eyes open.

We register the DNS server of your hosting immediately upon registration

At the next step, you will immediately be asked to decide on DNS servers for the purchased domain names. What is it? Well, these are records on special servers (), which tell you where to look for information about the IP address of the server (host) with your site. The fact is that it’s online, and domain names were invented for visualization and convenience.

I will register here the Infobox DNS server (my hoster - this will allow me to later add redirects from new domains to the site in the hoster settings). To do this, you need to check the boxes next to all purchased names, enter the names of NS servers in the field below and click the “Apply to selected domains” button:

As a result, the DNS data will change:

Again, this step could have been skipped. In any case, click on the “Continue” button.

Payment for purchase and work with a registered domain

Actually, now all that remains is to pay for the purchase.

Naturally, there are a lot of payment methods:

The simplest one is . Personally, but it’s just as easy, WebMoney or even (by the way, it’s a pretty convenient system - I recommend it).

After payment, you will be asked to return to the registrar’s website (or you can do it yourself).

Your domains in your name registrar account

It's time to go into your personal account and get acquainted with its capabilities (at least for the future).

On the tab top menu "My domains" you will find information about all the domain names you registered here and will be able to take the necessary actions on it if necessary.

Most often you have to come here either to renew or change DNS records when your site or on it. Although, you can even transfer the domain to another registrar, but this is quite rarely done.

In general, that's all. The domain is registered in your name and paid for for a year, which means you can start using it. Choose a hosting, add its DNS records in your Reg.ru personal account and start creating a website.

Yes, as I said, put it on balance personal account(item of the same name from the top menu) money with a reserve and check for all domains - is their auto-renewal enabled?(is there a check mark in the AP column shown in the previous screenshot). If not, then turn it on by clicking on the desired line in the list of your names and dragging the slider to the “Auto-renewal” field.

Good luck to you! See you soon on the pages of the blog site
