• How to clean your computer well. Advantages of the CCleaner program. How to clean your computer of unnecessary files yourself

    Good afternoon.

    Whether the user wants it or not, sooner or later any Windows computer accumulates a large number of temporary files (cache, browser history, log files, tmp files, etc.). This is most often called “garbage” by users.

    Over time, the PC begins to work slower than before: the speed of opening folders decreases, at times it pauses for 1-2 seconds, and there is less free space on the hard drive. Sometimes, an error even pops up that . So, to prevent this from happening, you need to clean your computer from unnecessary files and other rubbish (1-2 times a month). Let's talk about this.

    Cleaning your computer from junk - step-by-step instructions

    Built-in Windows tool

    You need to start with the fact that Windows already has a built-in tool. True, it doesn’t always work perfectly, but if you don’t use your computer that often (or there’s no way to install it on your PC) third party utility(about it below in the article)) - then you can use it too.

    Disk cleaner is available in all versions of Windows: 7, 8, 8.1.

    I'll give universal method, how to run it in any of the above OS.

    Result: hard drive was very quickly cleared of most unnecessary (but not all) and temporary files. All this took was min. 5-10. The only downside, perhaps, is that the standard cleaner does not scan the system very well and misses many files. To remove all garbage from your PC, you need to use a special one. utilities, read about one of them further in the article...

    Using a special utility

    In general, there are quite a lot of similar utilities (you can find the best ones in my article:).

    In this article I decided to focus on one utility for Windows optimization- Wise Disk Cleaner.

    Why on her?

    Here are the main advantages (in my opinion, of course):

    1. There is nothing superfluous in it, only what is needed: disk cleanup + defragmentation;
    2. Free + supports 100% Russian language;
    3. The speed of operation is higher than that of all other similar utilities;
    4. Scans your computer very thoroughly, allowing you to free up much more disk space than other analogues;
    5. Flexible system for setting up scanning and removing unnecessary things; you can turn off and turn on literally everything.

    Step by Step Actions

    Defragmenting a hard drive in Windows 7, 8

    In this subsection of the article it is necessary to make a small reference to make it more clear what we are talking about...

    All files that you write to your hard drive are written to it in small pieces (these “pieces” are more experienced users called clusters). Over time, the spread of these pieces on the disk begins to grow rapidly, and the computer has to spend more time reading a particular file. This moment is called fragmentation.

    In order for all the pieces to be in one place, arranged compactly and quickly read, you need to carry out the reverse operation - defragmentation (more details

    One of the main enemies of a computer is dust, which, when it gets into your PC or laptop, settles, worsening the performance of the equipment. Despite the seriousness of the problem, you should not immediately contact a specialist.

    Anyone who has the slightest desire can clean their computer on their own.

    But don’t forget that a computer is not only a system unit, so it’s worth taking the trouble to clean the mouse and keyboard as well. By cleaning all your devices from dust, you not only make your work easier, but also extend their life.

    When dust deposits appear in a computer, its performance immediately deteriorates, and this manifests itself as follows:

    • The PC takes longer to boot;
    • starts to overheat, hum, hot air comes out of the cooler;
    • cannot open programs that he could easily open before;
    • in some cases it happens spontaneous shutdown and much more.

    If we talk about components, we can highlight sticking keys and the wheel, twitching of the cursor, and spontaneous typing of tests.

    To ensure that you do not have problems with your PC or laptop, you should clean it from dust at least once a year. In dusty conditions or if your system unit is on the floor, you should clean it more often.

    The main place where dust accumulates in your PC is the cooler. The number of cooling devices can vary from 2 to 12 V system unit. In the very simple version it is located in the wall, and the second is attached to the power supply.

    As the power of components increases, coolers are also installed on them. Over time, they all need to be cleaned.

    Laptops have only 1 cooler, but it is more difficult to clean due to the complexity of the case structure. It takes more time to disassemble a laptop. But in general view You can tell us how to clean your computer from dust, applicable to PCs and laptops.

    Step No. 1. Disassembling the computer

    Before you start cleaning your computer, it's worth preparing it. To do this, clear the table, find the maximum number of different boxes - they will be needed to collect screws and fasteners. Then find a disassembly video if you have a laptop.

    To disassemble the computer, you will need Phillips screwdrivers (take a couple of flathead ones for extra), cotton wool, water, thermal paste, alcohol, a rag made of natural material, a bank or discount card and a thin pin.

    For cleaning computer equipment small vacuum cleaner for sale. If you have it, then it's worth using it.

    Before disassembling your PC, you need to turn off the power and disconnect all wires and cables. Then unscrew all the screws that hold the blind sidebar. Collect them all in one box so you don't lose them.

    Once you open the cover, carefully brush off the dust and check the fastenings and wiring contacts. Next, you should begin to gradually disconnect and remove all components from the system unit - one by one.

    Continue boxing screws and remember the disassembly sequence. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.

    After you take everything out, clean the components with the boards as much as possible from dust with a dry cloth and set them aside until the next step. Wet a cloth with water and thoroughly wipe off all dust, leaving no water or streaks.

    If you have a laptop: strictly following the disassembly video of your computer, remove bottom panel and wipe the motherboard with a dry cloth.

    When removing all components, inspect them and, if necessary, wipe them from dust.

    Step #2: Cleaning the Motherboard

    Before cleaning the motherboard, it is worth inspecting and determining whether it is very dusty. If you can see in the corners large number dust, it is worth disconnecting the components from it and cleaning it with a cotton wool and a pin.

    The pin will help remove dust from hard-to-reach places, and the cotton wool will collect all the dust that is on the paths. Make sure that the cotton wool does not remain on the legs of the microcircuits. If you don't keep an eye on this, dust on boards and coolers will happen faster.

    Important: do not wipe the motherboard with a damp cloth or moistened cotton wool. If you feel that the board has not been cleaned enough, it is recommended to use a damp cloth.

    Wipe the slats RAM and inspect them. Next, remove the processor cooling system and wipe off the old thermal paste.

    To remove thermal paste, use a cloth soaked in alcohol. The same manipulation should be carried out with the cooling system. After cleaning is complete, you need to apply new thermal paste.

    If you have a laptop, wipe down the motherboard and components. Remove the cooling system from the motherboard and make sure there is no dust in hard-to-reach places. Remove the old thermal paste and apply new one.

    Step No. 3. Cleaning coolers

    The most important step in cleaning your computer from dust is cleaning all coolers. For their complete and high-quality cleaning, it is worth separating the elements passive cooling from active cooling elements.

    Simply put, you need to unscrew various fins from the coolers.

    When you reach the blades, wipe off any dust with a slightly damp cloth. Then let them dry and assemble the coolers.

    If you have a laptop: experienced computer technicians advise not to disassemble the cooler, as the cooler blades are weaker and react very easily to any force.

    If you want to wipe the cooler, you should wrap cotton wool around the pin, moisten it and wipe it gently, periodically changing the cotton wool.

    Before installation, bleed the cooling system motherboard. It is also worth blowing out the fan. It won't help much, but it's better than nothing.

    It's not just dust that causes problems with these devices. Hair, crumbs, various liquids and much more can ruin your devices.

    To clean the mouse, you need to perform several steps.

    1. Carefully unscrew all external screws.
    2. Next, remove the case and blow out the insides of the mouse.
    3. Remove the wheel and clean it.
    4. Unscrew the screw and remove the board. There may be a large accumulation of dust underneath.
    5. Clean the board and reassemble the mouse.

    To clean the keyboard, do the following:

    • remove all keys;
    • screw it in and lightly tap it on the back;
    • wipe with a damp cloth. If your keys are stuck, professionals advise wiping them with alcohol;
    • assemble the keyboard.

    So, sticking to these simple instructions, you can take care of your PC yourself.

    This procedure does not require much time, but is very important for normal functioning technology.

    Mother of two children. I have been running a house for more than 7 years - this is my main job. I like to experiment, I constantly try different means, methods, techniques that can make our life easier, more modern, more fulfilling. I love my family.

    Each one accumulates a large amount of garbage as it works. This includes tmp directory files, registry entries created by programs but not used, logs, logs. All this helps reduce the speed of the computer. This article will provide information on how to speed up application response times and make working with the OS more comfortable.

    If you don't do these steps regularly, your opening speed will slow down. context menus, folders, launching programs. Free space on the hard drive will become smaller all the time, which will lead to freezes or even inability to boot operating system.

    Windows built-in tools

    The story about programs that can clean your computer should begin with the built-in utility. It works less efficiently than third party products. It is worth paying attention to for users who rarely work on a computer, as well as those who do not have the rights or ability to install software. The default utility is included with all modern versions Windows. To run it on any OS, just enter the line “cleanmgr” in the input field of the “Run” window. Now all that remains is to click on “OK”. The main utility window will appear on the display. It needs to indicate which partition the program will continue to work with.

    HDD analysis will continue for several minutes. Its speed is affected by its size hard drive, defragmentation percentage, time elapsed since the last start of a similar operation. When the scanning is completed, the utility will provide a superficial report and prompt you to select groups of files to delete. Next to each item there is a checkbox, and opposite it is written the number of megabytes of information occupied.

    To check the boxes next to the names of all groups. Click "OK" and confirm your intention. To delete more unnecessary information With HDD partitions In the main window of the utility, you need to click on the "Clear" button system files". Using the approach described above, you will have to spend no more than 10 minutes to complete all the steps. As mentioned earlier, standard means Windows are ineffective, which means that during the scan the utility did not find all the garbage.

    Third Party Products

    One of the most popular programs to optimize PC performance - CCleaner. Many users prefer it, as you can use this tool literally in a couple of clicks. The application interface is as simple and clear as possible, so even inexperienced user no need to study the reference manual.

    Installation

    CCleaner - absolutely free product, so you should download it only from official resource. In addition to the opportunity to get latest version utilities, you will know for sure that you will not infect your PC with a virus. The program requires installation before cleaning the computer. Windows will warn the user about the danger after launching the installer executable files, downloaded from the world wide web. Do the following:

    1. Select "Yes".
    2. A window will appear on the display. In it you need to select the language that is preferable to use in the interface.
    3. After clicking on "Next" the user will be able to pre-setting. All parameters will be clear to any user who has at least once installed programs in Windows.
    4. Now all that remains is to click on “Install” and wait for the process to complete. Installation is quick. It will take one or two minutes.

    How to clean up your computer: deleting temporary documents

    In the main window of the program there is the inscription “Cleaning”. After clicking on it, the utility will perform an analysis, the function of which is similar to that organized in the built-in tool. The columns on the left indicate the names of groups of files that will subsequently be deleted. Some of them are checked by default. Check the boxes next to unnecessary files. Click on "Analysis" and wait while the application collects data. The completion time of a function is affected by the amount of garbage on the system.

    After scanning, a window with a detailed report will appear on the screen. In it you can view the location of all documents being deleted and the amount of data being freed. To clean your computer, click on the appropriate button. Files important for the operation of the operating system will not be deleted. However, if you don't want to get rid of your browser history or logs Windows errors, it is worthwhile to first study the report and carefully review the names of the groups marked with flags.

    System registry

    In general, the speed of a computer depends little on the garbage in the registry. However, disorder in it negatively affects stability specific programs. Partitions and records should be cleaned when utilities that were functioning normally suddenly began to fail. If it is impossible to install new applications due to errors during the installation process, it makes sense to optimize the registry:

    • Click on the icon labeled “Registry” in the left block of the program.
    • Without unchecking the boxes, click on “Search”.
    • The utility will begin scanning, which will last several minutes.
    • After it is completed, click on "Fix".
    • CCleaner will prompt you to create backup copy data that will later be erased.
    • After selection, a window with detailed information about deleted sections and keys. There is a “Fix” button in it, which you should click on.

    Service

    The "Tools" section of the CCleaner utility provides the user with several tools for manipulating operating system settings, installed applications, sections of hard disk. The main features of this section that are worth paying attention to are programs and management of startup entries.

    It includes those applications that run either with Windows or after the user logs in. Startup should be cleared of unnecessary or rarely used programs. It is unlikely that you will be able to speed up your computer using this method, but the OS loading time will be noticeably reduced. The application uninstallation function is completely similar to the standard one. Windows tool. Advantages of CCleaner - greater visibility and quick access to functionality.

    Revo Uninstaller

    Revo Uninstaller differs from most programs aimed at removing garbage from Computer HDD. While most utilities erase already accumulated data, Revo Uninstaller combats one of the reasons for PC clutter - improper software removal. During its operation, the application monitors the activity of programs, remembers which files were created after each specific one, and what data was written to the registry and changed in it.

    When deleting a program help Revo Uninstaller, the user can be 100% sure that there is no garbage associated with it left on the computer. Utilities installed before being equipped with the application in question are also uninstalled without leaving any tails. This is possible thanks to the built-in complex analysis system. The user just needs to click on the “Uninstall” item, and after scanning, check all the inscriptions. Anyone who likes to fully control the operation of programs will be able to study the detailed report. It records all paths to files and registry settings that will be deleted.

    Conclusion

    Remember: cleaning your computer once is not enough. Windows requires any version regular service. How more programs installed in the operating system, the more often work is performed on the PC, the less frequent maintenance should be.

    Almost every action you take on your computer is recorded, and after every installation and removal of a program, temporary and unnecessary files remain. Over time, viruses accumulate, dust accumulates, thermal paste dries out, and this can continue for a long time. I can only say one thing: it is necessary to clean your computer periodically so that it does not slow down.

    In this post I want to show you how to remove, clean, and lubricate what and where. After such cleaning, you yourself will be pleased to sit in front of a computer that works without glitches or slowdowns.

    Why does my computer slow down?

    Before you clean anything, you need to figure out why your computer is slowing down. There can be a whole carload of reasons, and in order not to do unnecessary work, let's do a little diagnostics to determine the cause of the brakes. Do all the tests listed below, then everything will become clear.

    How to clean your computer from dust

    If the computer used to work well and you didn’t do anything with it, just used it for its intended purpose, but now it’s started to malfunction, most likely you can get by with regular dust cleaning and replacing thermal paste. In any case, it will only be beneficial.

    In order not to take 100 photos and every action (take the computer, put it down, turn the screwdriver to the left...) I attach good video, in which everything is visible, shown, told:

    RAM diagnostics

    Do not exclude this item under any circumstances. Personally, in my experience, it happened that after 2 months of using a new RAM stick, the computer began to slow down a lot and diagnostics showed that not everything new was good. Also, over time, your RAM could fail and give significant hallucinations to your PC or laptop.

    To diagnose RAM, open the Start menu and write “mdsched” in the search. Now click on “Reboot and check (Recommended)…”.

    All we have to do is wait for the result and everything will become clear. One of two things, either everything is fine, or the RAM needs to be changed.

    HDD diagnostics

    When a hard drive reaches its end, it exhibits characteristic brakes. For example, your computer freezes a lot, but the device manager shows that the memory and processor are not loaded. It can also make sounds (whistles, tapping, rustling, etc.).

    Let's do a little diagnostics to determine the condition of the HDD:

    1. Download free program"SeaTools for Windows" For hard checks from the official website - https://www.seagate.com/files/www-content/support-content/downloads/seatools/_shared/downloads/SeaToolsforWindowsSetup.exe
    2. Run the installation, wait for it to finish, open the program.
    3. Open the program, select “Basic tests” from the menu and wait until the program completes the diagnostics.
    4. Next, the program will offer you to correct errors (if any). Click "ok" and wait for completion.

    After such a procedure, as a rule, the computer should work much better. If even SeaTools did not help, then everything is sad and you need to change the hard drive.

    Removing unnecessary things from startup

    I wouldn’t be even a little surprised if you have at least 5 unnecessary programs there. I constantly look at someone else’s computer with a diagnosis of “slowing down”, in the tray (icons in the taskbar, near the time) there is a lot of unnecessary stuff. An example of such programs: torrent, mediaget, agent @mail.ru, Viber, Skype, etc.

    Of course, these programs are needed for certain purposes, but not when you use the computer for other things. To make your computer work faster, you need to remove them from startup, after which they will work only when you need them.

    Cleaning Windows 7 startup

    To remove programs from startup in Windows 7, do the following:

    1. Open the Start menu and search for "msconfig" without quotes. Next, press “Enter” and go to the “Startup” tab.
    2. Attentively

    Cleaning Windows 10 startup

    1. Press "Win" + "R" type the command "regedit" without quotes and press "Enter".
    2. A list of programs that run along with the OS has opened in front of you. Attentively look at those programs that do not affect the operation of the OS (torrent, mediaget, @mail.ru agent, Viber, Skype, etc.) and disable them.
    3. Click "ok" and restart your computer.

    Also, startup in Windows 10 can be found in the manager. To do this, press Ctrl+Shift+Esc simultaneously and go to the “Startup” tab. Remember You only need to disable those programs that you do not need. Otherwise, you can disable drivers (audio, video) and other necessary software.

    Remove unnecessary programs

    Now you install one program, and along with it 3 more that you don’t need. Over time, these programs become more and more numerous, and the space on the C drive becomes less and less. Also, these programs load your system. If you don't use them, it's better to delete them right now.

    Conclusions

    I hope I helped you clean your computer and it no longer slows down. I recommend doing all this regularly, and not letting it get to the point where brakes and . Temporary files, viruses, startup - all this is not as scary as dust in the system unit and dried thermal paste. Remember this and clean.

    Has your computer started to slow down?

    Is your desktop littered with unnecessary shortcuts and files downloaded a hundred years ago? At the same time, messages regularly pop up from the tray from programs that you have never even heard of?

    Congratulations, you have CRUSHED your computer.

    Today I will tell you how I keep my main work tool clean - my laptop.

    Shitty computers

    Oh, I see them all the time. Relatives and friends regularly ask me to clean their computer.

    After all, as is customary with us, I installed the game, played for a week, and then it lay on the disk for 2 years. What if you want to play?

    Or even worse - some kind of service that constantly hangs in the computer’s memory, causing brakes. We may not have needed it for 100 years, but every time the system starts, it also starts.

    It also happens that programs install themselves. Well, who, tell me, will remove unnecessary checkboxes during installation?

    Over the years of this attitude, the system turns into Augean stables. And now all this rubbish jumps, blinks, asks to be updated or reports some “important” news. Plus, everything slows down. And the owner is thinking about buying new hardware, otherwise the old one “doesn’t work anymore.”

    But all you need to do is clean your computer thoroughly, and then follow basic rules hygiene.

    Regularity

    Yes, this is the magic word and it is at the forefront here.

    Regular cleaning is the key to a neat and responsive computer. Cleaning takes me only 6 minutes once every 2 weeks.

    In order not to forget about it, I am posting a separate reminder.

    I also have a special checklist that helps me clean my computer point by point. It has 7 points:

    1. Cleaning your desktop
    2. Cleaning torrents
    3. Removing unused programs
    4. Autorun check
    5. Clearing bookmarks

    Below I will describe each point in more detail.

    1. Cleaning the desktop (45 seconds)

    Like it or not, the desktop is gradually becoming littered. Various shortcuts, downloaded files, etc. accumulate on it.

    For example, now my desktop looks like this:

    But there are still 9 whole days until the next cleaning.

    So, when the day of cleaning comes, I transfer everything useful from the desktop to my storage system (this is a topic for another article), and delete the unnecessary.

    By the way, I don’t store frequently used shortcuts on my desktop. The very best sit in the panel quick launch, others - in the Start menu:

    2. Cleaning torrents (15 seconds)

    Often torrents with some series can take up up to 30% of my disk. I delete them regularly.

    The less data on your hard drive, the faster the virus scan will be.

    3. Disk Cleanup (30 seconds)

    After installation, go to the “Cleaning” tab. There, first click “Analysis” and then “Cleaning”.

    What have we done?

    We deleted all kinds of temporary files and emptied the trash:

    As you can see, 273 MB will be cleared. Not so bad.

    4. Registry Cleaner (25 seconds)

    Executed in the same program. We are interested in the “Register” tab. On it, click “Search for problems”, and then “Fix...”.

    What have we done?

    We cleaned the system Windows registry from various rubbish:

    5. Remove unused programs (30 seconds)

    It happens that I installed some program just to, say, create one video. After which it can and should be removed.

    Remember that you can always download the desired program and install in a couple of minutes. So is it worth keeping such junk in your system for years?

    Also, as I wrote above, programs can install themselves if I forget to uncheck a box somewhere during installation. Such programs should all the more be destroyed.

    You can uninstall the program using the usual using Windows, but I do it in the same CCleaner.

    Go to “Tools” > “Uninstall programs”. Choose unnecessary program and click “Uninstall”. The “Uninstall” button does not remove the program from the computer, but only removes it from this list. Keep this in mind!

    6. Autorun check (60 seconds)

    Important point. Together with the start of the system, a cloud of programs starts and then sits in memory. For novice users, it can reach monstrous sizes and eat up a lot of RAM.

    Go to “Tools” > “Startup” > “Windows”. We check whether all applications should be launched at the start. If not, then turn off the application:
