Hello, dear Photoshop lovers! In this (my first) lesson I will tell you how to make an avatar like this.

We create new document size 300 by 320 pixels, resolution, for example, 100. Background color is white.
We create new layer Heart. Turn on the mode Quick mask . IN arbitrary figures we find images of suits.

Let's start with the heart. Black in mode Quick mask draw a heart by holding Shift.

Turn off the Quick Mask mode and get a selection. Editing - Fill. Fill it with white. Then Selection - Inversion.
Open the photo that you want to have in the shape of a heart. Select the desired area and copy. Paste it into the file we are working with and move the layer under the Heart.
Editing - Free transformation . Adjust the photo to the shape of a heart. (Remember to hold Shift!)

We create New Layer above the photo layer. Fill it with red. Change the blending mode to Soft light (or experiment).
Desaturate the photo layer in a way that is more convenient for you. The easiest way is to press Ctrl+Shift+U. However, you don’t have to bleach it if you prefer. . Adjust as you wish.

Clamping Ctrl, Click on the heart layer. With the red fill layer active, click Delete. Then do the same on the photo layer.
Glue the layers of red fill with the photo. You can delete the Heart layer. The worms are ready!

Do the same with three other photographs, using spades, diamonds and crosses as shapes. Only when working with crosses and spades, the layer with the red fill is missing. Keep the photos just black and white.

Achieve the type of photo you want (darker or lighter) using Image - Correction - Levels. Please note that suits vary in size. Peaks, for example, are larger in height than worms. But all suits must be the same size - approximately 300 pixels.

You can do each suit in a separate document, but, in my opinion, it is more convenient in one. Just hide unnecessary layers for a while. After making all four suits, you should get this

Now you need to increase the canvas size. However, if we do this right away, we will see parts of the photo outside the desired shape. So on each photo layer, do this: Selection - All. Right click on the canvas and click Cut to new layer. Then remove the resulting unnecessary layers. (If you worked with each suit in separate file and then simply inserted it onto one, you don’t need to do this).

Image - Canvas Size. Set the size to 300 by 1300 pixels.

Then we arrange all our suits to taste. I recommend alternating red and black. (If you want clarity in the placement of suits, make the Move tool active, and then, while holding Shift, press the up or down arrow, counting the number of presses).

1. Don't hide your face

Glasses are, of course, a stylish accessory, but don't post photos wearing them if you're looking for a new relationship. When meeting people, eye contact is important, even when it comes to photography. When looking directly eye to eye, the trust hormone oxytocin is produced. It makes you feel connected to another person, makes you want to communicate with him closer and get to know him better. But when the eyes are hidden behind glasses, it does not receive any impulses. There are fewer people wanting to meet.

People look more attractive when photographed from the front. On a subconscious level, an open posture and turned shoulders are perceived as signs of respect. We consider this person to be attentive to us. Remember the communication in real life. It's nice when during a conversation the interlocutor is completely turned towards you. If the posture is closed, then one gets the impression that it is unpleasant for him to communicate.

3. Pay attention to the background

People evaluate not only your pose and natural features, but also your background. A pretty face alone is not enough to get you interested. A photograph must have some kind of story. In addition, a photo on the beach, in the mountains, in a restaurant or club will tell about your hobbies. It will immediately become clear whether you have anything in common and whether it’s worth starting acquaintance at all.

Photos of smiling people attract more attention. We consider them open and cheerful. There is a desire to recharge with their love of life. But you need to be able to smile. For women, natural or wide “all 32” smiles are good. Men are better off doing this with restraint.

To start we need a grid. To make it, we take a screenshot of the group page and throw it into the project, in my case in Photoshop.

Then use the CTRL+R key combination to call up the rulers and place guides along the edges of the avatar and the fastener. In order to extend the guide, you need to hold LMB on the ruler and pull it towards our layout.

The size of the avatar that we see in the browser without scaling is 200x500 pixels. And fixed in this form 395x237 pixels.

cutting

We have made the markings, now let's start cutting. Why now? Yes, because this is almost the end of my guide.
For cutting we need the “Cutting” tool (in the English version “Slice tool”)

Using this tool, we make cuts along our guides, specifically inside the avatar and fastening along the edges.

It should turn out like this.
Next, we remove our screenshot from the layers and proceed to the project. We will not develop the design, but I will show you what will happen. Let's add a photo of a girl to our project. The main thing for us is to get into the area of ​​cutting the avatar and fixing it.

After working on our design, we save the cut parts using CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+S or File->Save for web…

In this window, hold down Shift, select our avatar and click save
But that's not all. In the window that appears, select fragments, select “Only selected fragments” and click save. After which Photoshop will cut off the area with the avatar and the attachment from the entire layout.
