How many times have I written to tech support: “with auto-switching disabled, your program should work as if it wasn’t on the computer at all” - but no, even with auto-switching disabled, they continue to monitor what you type (why? Auto-switching is disabled !) and compare with dictionaries - and if your set does not contain a word that is included in the Russian dictionary, then it is considered English (stupidity! - it was just a typo!) and switches to English. Similarly with typing in English - also if there is a typo (not in the dictionary!) the word is considered Russian (stupidity!) and is switched. Well, how long can you tolerate this stupidity! The program is simply infuriating! It switches constantly (although I don’t need it).

Fixing typing errors in Punto Switcher

When typing words that have impossible combinations of letters in Russian or English, Punto Switcher will automatically switch the keyboard layout. Next, you will type the text in the correct language.

In simpler cases, the program changes the layout after several letters entered, in more difficult cases, the word will change only after full input, after pressing the spacebar.

You can manually cancel switching the keyboard layout on the last word entered. Let's say there are some English words in the Russian text that the program wants to convert into Russian, or there is a typo. To do this, you will need to press the “Pause/Break” (Break) key. You can also select text and change the input language using this very useful key. In this case, the layout is also changed using the “Shift” + “Pause/Break” (Break) keys.

But, there are unusual situations.

Situation 1. For example, Punto Switcher can change a word to a different layout where we don’t need it.

This may happen in some cases, for example, when we need to enter our login or password in English somewhere on the site, consisting of a chaotic set of characters.

So, Punto Switcher can automatically switch the layout, which will make a word with Russian characters.

In this case, you can press the key on the keyboard Break(2) to cancel automatic change keyboards for of this word. This will return the character set in English, although it is chaotic.

Situation 2. There may be a situation when we specifically disabled Autodetection through the program’s context menu by calling it with the left mouse button in the program icon in the Taskbar, i.e. so that the program does not automatically change the layout.

And then they forgot to turn on Auto-detection.

Or we simply didn’t have Punto Switcher running, and we had already typed a lot of text without noticing that we were writing in the wrong layout.

In this case, you can select all this text and press the key combination Shift (3) + Break(2), - provided that the program is already running, of course (if it was disabled). As a result, all text will be changed, as if written in a different layout.

Situation 3. There is another situation. We typed the text, but then decided that we needed some words in the text, or even the entire text, to be written in CAPITAL rather than lowercase letters.

Then we can simply highlight the text we need and press the key combination Alt(4) + Break(2). The same applies to the case if we have it written in CAPITAL, but we need to convert it to lowercase.

Punto Switcher Settings

The Punto Switcher program can be further customized to suit your needs. Everything there is quite simple and clear, so I don’t think there’s much point in writing about all the settings (you can figure it out yourself or just leave everything as it is and use the default settings).

I’ll just draw your attention to some settings that may still be useful to some users.

In this section, you can assign hot keys to quickly perform any operation. We have already discussed the first three actions above. If you are not satisfied with the given keys for performing a task, then in this section you can change them, as well as add new ones for other actions we need.

No less useful function is to change the layout of the selected text and its case.

The most interesting feature of the keyboard layout switch is Show clipboard history.

Function Remember cursor position supposedly allows you to remember the cursor position after replacement. I was unable to move it to another place other than the end of the phrase being replaced.
