• MMS does not work on Android. Why can't SMS be sent from my phone? How to set up MMS on your device: a few steps

    At the current level information technology sending multimedia messages between subscribers, it would seem, has already outlived its popularity. However, in the absence of access to wireless internet, this method of information exchange becomes the only alternative. That is why it is important for any user to know what to do if the question arises: “I can’t send MMS from Android” and how to solve it.

    Problems with sending or receiving messages are not always associated with a technical malfunction of the phone. This possibility should not be completely excluded, but first it is better to perform a preliminary diagnosis and network settings. Please note that for a new SIM card, settings come automatically the first time you use it in a smartphone. If your SIM card has been working for many years, this function may be lost for it. It is also worth taking into account other possible causes of failures.

    Why doesn't this function work:

    1. This service is not available for some regions. To clarify the information, it is better to contact your representative directly. cellular communication.
    2. You also need to ask the operator automatic settings. For this it is important to inform exact model your phone. After receiving the data in separate message You should activate the service according to the attached prompts. If your smartphone allows for the use of two SIM cards, the setup is carried out separately for each number.
    3. Your recipient may have a different tariff plan that does not support this function, or using other network parameters.

    Often automatic updates cannot be used or they do not work correctly. For such cases, it is advisable to configure the communication parameters yourself. This algorithm provides some differences for different operators.

    Solution to this problem

    If you cannot use the ability to automatically configure network parameters, you must enter everything yourself. To do this, it is important to adhere to the given algorithm of actions, focusing on your phone model and the selected connection.

    Steps for manually entering network parameters:

    • In the menu section of your smartphone you need to find “Settings”.
    • In this list, find the “Wireless Networks” category. Communication parameters are indicated here, including data transfer and wireless Internet use.
    • It is necessary to activate the “data transfer” item if it is not active.
    • Return to the "Wireless Networks" menu and find the access point. Typically, the phone will provide two connection options, one of which will be responsible for the mobile Internet, and the second - directly for the ability to send multimedia files.
    • For a phone with two SIM cards, you must also indicate the number to which the service will be connected.

    If impossible self-configuration You can contact your operator at the specified number or visit service center(representation) in person. For a communications center specialist, such procedures will take a minimum of time and present no difficulties.

    What to do if it says failure when sending MMS from Android

    Among possible reasons, why MMS is not sent from Android, we can also highlight some software glitches of the system. Despite the fact that using Android usually does not present such problems, you should know the possible algorithm of actions in such a case.

    Main causes of malfunctions and solutions:

    1. Virus infection of files. As a preventive measure, we can recommend pre-installation good protective program. If the problem has already appeared, you need to scan the system and remove the possible threat.
    2. Minor system failures can occur spontaneously or due to other problems. Simple ones can be eliminated by restarting the device or resetting the settings to factory settings. In case of serious problems, you may need to reflash your smartphone, which is best left to the service center specialists.
    3. Mechanical failures. Typically, this kind of problem arises when unauthorized changes are made to the specified network parameters. To fix similar mistakes It is enough to check the entered information.
    4. Installation special applications, limiting the amount of information transmitted. This is usually convenient for contract subscribers, or when using a child’s phone. At the same time, such software can block the transfer of any files, including.

    Typically, the listed smartphone malfunctions do not affect the data transfer function, but in some cases this may be the problem. If the phone is under warranty, the easiest way is to contact a service center. For relatively old devices, diagnostics or repairs can be performed. It should be noted that such problems are not critical, but may indicate more serious problems that negatively affect the operation of the gadget.

    Setting up MMS for all operators

    Before sending the selected file, you should make sure that its size does not exceed 500 KB (for subscribers of one network) and 350 KB (for sending to another operator). Usually modern gadgets automatically compress the file to required parameters, but it's better to check this in advance. In addition to the above problems, there may be exceptional situations, for example, when such an opportunity is not provided specifically for your region of residence. Messages in this case may be delayed or arrive in unreadable form.

    Also, before sending, you must make sure that the entered number is saved in international format(for the Russian Federation this is +7ххх ххх хххх). You should know that if the recipient's smartphone is turned off, your message is stored for no more than 72 hours, after which the subscriber will not be able to receive it again.

    An Android smartphone usually sends MMS after setting automatic data. It's time to tell how to set up MMS on android smartphones.

    So, as always, the instructions are divided into simple and understandable steps. But before that, we need to explain to our reader why MMS doesn't work on his phone. The reasons, as always, are quite banal. However, if the instructions do not help, you will always understand the essence of the problem.

    Modern smartphones, when first launched with a SIM card, determine the settings themselves mobile internet and MMS. However, this only happens with new SIM cards that already contain such information.

    In such a situation, the phone must create two points, taking them from the SIM card or receiving data via the GSM network:

    1. Internet access point
    2. Points MMS transmissions messages

    If your SIM card is many years old, there is a high probability that the phone will not be able to “identify itself” in the operator’s network. What to do then? This is exactly what we will tell you, because:

    Step 1. Go to the phone settings. We are interested in the item "More" V new Android ICS. Or "communication settings", as well as analogues of this phrase.

    Step 4. Click on the auxiliary menu and select "New access point". In the example shown, the MMS point has already been created, so don't look at it. In your case, the dot will most likely be missing. If it is present, but MMS is not sent, then delete existing point and create a new one.

    Step 5. Well, this is the list of parameters that we will need to enter for new point, and then save it. To find out parameters of your operator, see below.

    Cellular operator options for setting up MMS

    These parameters are indicated only for the Moscow and Moscow region. Note that in the case of Beeline and Megafon, indicated only different data. Therefore, for Beeline and Megafon subscribers: first look at the MTS data, and only then the additions to your operator.

    Today, many users prefer to turn to email, social networks, and communication applications to send media files. However, there are still adherents old model sending photos and pictures using the MMS system. Setting up a smartphone is not fundamentally different from the method of setting up previous generation phones. Let's look at how to set up mms on Android using all available methods.

    First of all, it is recommended to call your telecom operator and make sure that this service is active for the specified number. It’s paradoxical, but numbers in some regions are deprived of the ability to send mms. Therefore, activating the mms system will be absolutely meaningless in this case.

    It is recommended to call the operator and find out all the details for your number. If the service is available (the probability of which exceeds 95%), then the most in a simple way is a request for automatic MMS settings. The settings are sent to the requested number, saved, after which the user can send media messages.

    Contact your operator, name the exact phone model, since each brand and series has personal parameters, and order the settings. In some Android models, an automatic configuration system is not provided, “thanks to” which the user will have to download the service into manual mode. This will be discussed further.

    Setting up mobile Internet and MMS on the phone - algorithm:

    1. We activate the mobile Internet through the telecom operator used. Please note that some Androids provide for the use of two SIM cards. Therefore, when activating the Internet, you must select a specific number;
    2. Go to the smartphone menu by selecting the “settings” section;
    3. We visit the window " wireless networks", select the item "data transfer", activate this option;
    4. After this, we return to the “wireless networks” menu, go to mobile networks and select an access point;
    5. In this window, you must indicate the SIM card that you will use to send and open received messages;
    6. Click on the selected SIM card; if, after clicking, two access points do not appear in front of you (one for the Internet and one for the MMS option), then you will have to add the access point yourself.

    Please note that the data entered will be personal for each operator. There is no single universal system mms settings Let's look at what access points look like for different communication providers.

    How to send MMS messages from Android - operator settings:

    • Megafon – to receive settings, you need to send a message to number 5049. You will receive an automatic package of parameters. The user needs to open and save the sent settings, and feel free to use the service. In case of manual setup, you need to enter the data indicated in the picture;
    • Beeline - to request an automatic package, you must use the number 06741015. You can also configure the mms option in the section personal account. Manual activation occurs as follows;
    • MTS - automatic setup is available by calling 1234. Alternative option is to use the Internet assistant to configure. Manual activation looks like this;
    • Tele2 - automatic setup will be available after calling the operator. Manual activation is filled out like this.

    This is important: setting up MMS is quite simple, regardless of which telecom operator you use. However, please note that the average cost of one message will be 7 rubles. It's much more profitable to use modern technologies free of charge.

    Hello friends! You may not believe it, but such a thing as the ability to take MMS really doesn’t bother me, or rather, it didn’t bother me until today. I already know how to use the Internet well, and if necessary, I send photos and music via email or social networks. But, there was a person (I won’t mention his name) who sent me an MMS and I had to face reception problems and actually manually setting up the function of my smartphone.

    I always thought that this was the best smartphone on Android, but when I came across the MMS setup, I realized that my Nokia was still much simpler in this regard. At the same time, I decided to set it up the old fashioned way, not with automatic settings, but manually, and it didn’t work for me the first time, but it still worked.

    And so, first of all, I decided to find out the manual MMS settings - I went to the official Kyivstar website, then to MTS (I have a smartphone with two cards), then, just in case, I decided to find out the MMS settings for Life - so that, if necessary, I would not have to deal with them again search. Below is a table of these settings for Ukrainian operators.

    Setting up MMS on an Android phone

    Then, when I had already saved the table with the settings above, I just had to go through the instructions and put the MMS settings on my smartphone in order. For this I am from work Android Wallpapers went to the MENU button (displayed in the screenshot), then went to the “Options” section and selected the “More” item, in which the necessary capabilities are actually hidden.

    Next in the window what opened among other items (Airplane mode, VPN, Modem mode, Networks mobile communications, Preferred GPRS transmission) I selected the “Mobile Networks” item, in which I need APN settings, the item is called “Access Point (APN)”. Here you can find all previously created mobile Internet settings profiles on your smartphone, as well as MMS settings profiles. To create a new profile you need to call context menu, and in it click on the “Create APN” item, after which a window will open with the ability to enter settings.

    I fill in all the necessary parameters and return to the previous screen. And I see (noted in the middle screenshot below) that there is no option to select this profile. Why is this? Apparently because some other access point is installed by default. Thus, I need to correct the situation - I simply go back to the created MMS profile (TEST in the screenshot), in it I select the APN TYPE settings line.

    Here, in addition to the MMS checkbox, I need to set the checkbox, for example, to the DEFAULT value. Thus, after clicking OK, we will see that on the previous screen the option to select the created profile will appear, which we actually select. After this, you can also restart your smartphone so that the settings are applied.

    I would like to draw your attention to the fact that SUPL does not need to be installed, since through the created access point for receiving and sending MMS we will not be able to connect to the Internet - which means GPRS will not work.

    This could be the end of the whole story about how I set up my best smartphone GSMART and taught him to receive MMS messages, but there are a few more small points.

    The first thing you need to pay attention to is the ability to get automatic settings. To do this, you need to send a free number to the Kyivstar provider, number 4660 SMS message with text 3, after which the system will send automatic MMS settings to the phone.

    The second point is connecting the service itself. This can also be done for free by typing USSD request connection, namely *100*11*2# (other commands that Kyivstar supports can be viewed here) - after which the service will be activated over time and an SMS notification message will be sent about its status.

    In addition to setting up and activating MMS, it is also advisable to make sure that it is working correctly - to do this, you need to send the first message to someone from your friends (and then check whether they received it or not) or send it to your number - this way we can immediately check whether the message is loading on the phone correct or not.

    How to receive MMS if your smartphone is not configured?

    People like me, who themselves use more email Don’t bother with the settings of this service. But you need to accept messages sent by friends?! Kyivstar took care of such users by creating a special free service where all our messages are stored. Thus, if the service is not configured on our phone, then Kyivstar sends a message with a link to our MMS, which is saved on the service. When we follow this link from a phone or computer, we will be able to enter a password (which is also contained in the SMS notification) and read (save, download) multimedia files and text that friends have sent us.

    Friends, it’s important for me to know your opinion - have I covered the topic of setting up MMS on an Android smartphone completely, or does something need to be corrected? You yourself use such provider services, or maybe you also prefer to communicate with friends in other places, for example in social networks or Viber program?
