• How to create a pdf file? Free PDF Converter

Good day everyone, my dear friends. How are you doing? I hope it's great. Right now I’m writing a small book. So it will be in the familiar PDF format. We all know that by default a file in this format cannot be edited. Then the question arises: how to create a PDF file if it is not created just like that.

It's actually easier than you think. Therefore, I will show you several ways how this can be done in Word, using a third-party program and without programs at all. Let's go!

The simplest and quick way in my opinion, this is a text file known to all of us Word editor, which is part of Microsoft Office and is an integral part of it.

Does everyone have Word? I think that everyone does, or almost everyone does. I just know people who work in Open Office and fundamentally do not use products from Bill Gates Corporation. Or they install a free one office suite due to lack of a license.

But if it’s worth it, then write the entire document in it, edit it, insert pictures, links, etc. And when your final version is ready, just click “File” - “Save As” and select the folder in which you want to save your future pdf file.

Well, now when saving, select the file type “PDF”. Voila. That's it. And it didn’t hurt at all).

There is indeed a significant drawback. The ability to save from Word to PDF appeared only starting with Office 2010. Earlier versions do not have this feature yet.

    PDF Creator

Let's look at one more interesting option, namely a special program for creating the files we need, which has the simple name PDF creator. You can download it Here. And install it immediately in the usual way, just put it first "Expert settings", and then uncheck all unnecessary add-ons.

You can install the PDF-Architect application in the same installer, but I do not recommend it. His demon paid version is not particularly useful. It's better if you don't have it. A paid version with advanced features costs $30. But I wouldn't take it.

After installation, you don't even need to go into the program itself. It is added to context menu. That is, if you have any document from which you want to make a PDF (be it office document any version, simple text document, a Photoshop file or even a regular picture), you just need to right-click on it and select "Convert with PDF creator".

Now a program window will open where you will need to select the name of the future file. After that, click “Save” and an explorer window will open, where you will have to select a location to save the file.

Also, if you don’t want to use the context menu, but you can go to any document and print it, i.e. Click “File” - “Print” (usually like this). Only in printers you need to select the one called “ PDF Creator". Well, then the same window will open, which I talked about just above.

    Conversion

And of course, we must not forget about such a method as conversion. Moreover, you can convert to PDF from any type of document or picture without installing third party programs. To do this, you can use various online services, for example this. I will not describe this process, since I described working with one of the online converters in. So read it. The principle is the same.

Well, I think these methods are quite enough. Now you can make e-books, manuals, manuals, etc. This format is easier to read and is an excellent container for an image. What I say is correct. Which method do you prefer? Write in the comments.

Well, I finish my lesson here. I hope that you liked it, so be sure to subscribe to my blog updates to always be aware of everything new and interesting. Good luck to you. Bye bye!

    Best regards, Dmitry Kostin.

Recently the blog held a vote on the topic “What format e-books(for PC) Do you think it’s the most convenient?" Here we meant books for programmers who mainly use Delphi. There were 4 formats to choose from: exe, flash, pdf and chm. The voting lasted until a set of 300 votes and the most large number PDF received votes (231 votes 300). I think that the result turned out to be quite logical, since PDF is a fairly convenient format - it has relatively little large size, for reading there is a lot of software of different types. No less popular are programs for PDF creation.

If your work on the Internet involves publishing e-books, articles in PDF format, etc., then you were or are still faced with the question of: What is the best way to use to generate PDF? Indeed, there is a huge amount of software for generating PDF. There are both free and relatively inexpensive ones. paid solutions. Each program has its own advantages and disadvantages. Today I decided to look at only five ways to create PDF files that I came across while working on the reference book.

    Service pdf24.org

    Excellent service for creating PDF.

Supported document formats for PDF creation:

    • HTML ( htm html)
    • Bilder ( jpg jpeg png bmp gif tiff tif emf wmf)
    • Microsoft Word (doc dot docx dotx)
    • Microsoft Excel ( xls xlw xlt xlsx xltx)
    • Microsoft Powerpoint ( ppt pps pot pptx potx)
    • Open Office ( odt ods odp odg ott ots otp otg)
    • Postscript ( ps)
    • Text( rtf txt)

    Using pdf24 you can:

    1. Create PDF file online- for this use the form below home page. For example, I tried to create a PDF from a file in Word format 2010. Generation was successful, the finished file arrived at email. There is, however, one small drawback - online converter does not support file names in Russian. In the title of the finished PDF, all Russian letters are replaced with the symbols "_". The design and links in the PDF document are preserved.
    2. Create a PDF file by sending the document source to the email service.
    3. Take advantage of clients to create PDFs offline.

I downloaded latest version client and tried to create a small PDF document containing links. This is what the client window looks like:

We drag the document with the mouse from the explorer into the field and the converter creates a PDF for us:

And here, unfortunately, the result is not the same as when using an online converter - links in the document are not saved. Otherwise, the file turns out to be quite compact, the document format is preserved.

    4. Use plugins to generate pdf files from your postsblogA.

Now the webdelphi.ru blog is running a plugin from pdf24. There are also plugins for platforms such as iGoogle, phpBB, etc. There is also an API for PHP and JavaScript.

As for the plugin for WordPress, it has enough powerful settings registration You can set the subject and content of the letter in which the finished PDF file will be returned to the user, set headings in the PDF document, etc.

In general, we can say that the service is quite convenient and high quality. To generate small PDF documents online version A converter will do just fine.

Now let's look at how you can create PDF files offline.

    Bulzip PDF Printer

Small but quite convenient free PDF printer.

    You can download it here.

The printer settings window is shown in the figure below:

Here we can set the following settings:

    1. Output format: BMP, JPEG, PCX, PDF, PNG, TIFF
    2. Merge two pdf files if again created file will have the same name as the previously created one
    3. Set an owner password to prevent editing of the PDF file
    4. Set watermarks for document pages and a few more additional settings.

For example, I decided to generate a PDF file from the same document as in the first case. The results were as follows: the links in the document were not saved, the design remained, the size of the output document was smaller than when using the client from pdf24.

If the presence of links in a document is not critical for you, then Bulzip PDF Printer Suitable for generating PDF files of various sizes.

    Using the capabilities of OpenOffice

If you use OpenOffice in your work, then creating PDF files will not be any problem for you. To create a PDF, launch Writer, open required document and press the button " Export PDF":

The output PDF file retains all formatting, including links within the document.

Of course, installing OpenOffice just to make PDF files is like shooting sparrows with a cannon, but for those who use OpenOffice in their work, this PDF creation option is the best fit.

Using the capabilities of Google Docs

Another legal one free way generating PDF files. In order to create a PDF, upload the required file to Google account Docs and convert it to Google format.

Then open the resulting file and select " File - Download as - PDF"

The resulting PDF file retains the design, but does not have links. Also a disadvantage this method is that the output PDF file is quite large.

    ABBYY PDF Transformer 3.0

Unlike those previously discussed, this program is paid.

Price full version programs 1490 rub.

ABBYY PDF Transformer works in both directions, i.e. can not only create PDF files, but also convert them to other formats such as MS Word, Excel and others.

Let's take a look at creating a PDF file. To do this, launch the Create PDF Document utility, specify the file that needs to be converted to PDF and set the necessary settings:

You can set passwords for opening and editing a file, set the document design and compression level. In general, the program is quite simple and convenient. The output PDF file retains all of its original layout, as well as links within the document.

Now, regarding the test for the size of the output PDF file. For the test I used a file in the format docx, size 18, 355 Kb

    Results (output PDF size):

    1. Service pdf24.org: from 44,732 KB(online converter) up to 72,375 KB(offline client)
    2. Bulzip PDF Printer: 34,034 KB with default settings
    3. Open Office: 63,663 KB
    4. Google Docs: 191,979 KB
    5. Abby PDF Transformer: from 75,162 KB to 117,330 KB depending on the set compression ratio.

Thus, if the main thing for you is to get an output PDF with a minimum size, then it is better to use Bulzip PDF Printer.

If it is important that the design and links are saved in PDF, then for the price it is optimal to use the online version of the converter from pdf24.org

Well, if you need a normal offline PDF converter, then for these purposes I would recommend ABBYY PDF Transformer - although it is paid, it is quite compact and convenient. If you don't want to pay, no problem, then use Open Office.

Hello, Friends! In this article we will understand how to create a PDF file in various ways. Namely: online using Google Drive, from a picture using PicPick, from multiple images using XnView, offline using doPDF and using a browser Google Chrome from a page on the Internet.

After I found out that Chrome can open PDF files, I open everything with it. The PDF file I created looks like this.

All links are saved and active. True, when clicked, they open in the same browser tab. In the same way, you can create documents in the Yandex browser. I tried it in Firefox and Opera - nothing worked. They don't print to PDF.

    In LibreOffice

How to create a PDF document from ODT file(analogue DOCX file for Microsoft Word 2007 and higher) described in detail. With spreadsheets (ODS files in LibreOffice) it's even easier. Click the button " Export to PDF»

and save the document in in the right place. There are no settings.

You can see what the created PDF file from the spreadsheet looks like in the figure below.

In the same way, you can create a PDF file from a presentation (ODP files in LibreOffice).

    From a drawing in PicPick

You could already get acquainted with the PicPick program in the article about creating screenshots. I make almost all the drawings for articles in this program. PicPick can save pictures in PDF format. Take a screenshot or open an image using PicPick.

We select a location to save and the PDF file is created.

    From pictures in XnView

If you need to create one PDF file from several pictures, you can use convenient viewer images - XnViev. You can see how to download this program.

Open XnView and follow the path Create >Multi-page file…

In the window that opens, use the “Add...” and “Delete” buttons to add required images. Using the arrows (located just below) we arrange the pictures in the desired order.

When you click on the “Options” button, an additional window will open where you can select compression parameters. In the picture below, I set the Compression Type to No (no compression), because I want to improve the quality.

If for you PDF size file is critical, you need to play around with compression types and quality.

If you have added multi-page pictures (TIFF format) and you want all the pages of these pictures to be included in the created PDF file, check the box (there is only one there).

We set the folder to save, the name and so that the file is PDF, from the “Format” drop-down menu, select “Portable Document Format”. Click “Create”

The PDF file was created in the actual width of the images. For comfortable viewing I had to scale it down.

This is how you can make a PDF file from a bunch of pictures.

    On Google Drive

You can read how to use Google Drive. How to Convert Word to PDF with using Google Disk - . We will make PDF files from other documents in the same way. Upload the file to Google Drive. Go to the Google Drive web interface. Right-click on the downloaded file (call up the context menu) and follow the path

    Open with > Google Docs

Let's move along the path File > Download as > PDF Document

We created the PDF file using Google Drive. In the same way, you can create a PDF file from an image. If you select two images, you won't be able to open them in one Google document. But you can create new document. Add as many images as you need there and download them as PDF.

    On a computer - doPDF

Download and install. Open the document from which you want to create a PDF file. Open the "File" menu and select "Print..."

doPDF". We set which pages to print (which pages we want to see in the PDF file) and click “Print”

Select quality in the “PDF options” section. Using the “Browse...” button, set where to save the PDF file and click “OK”

In the video instructions on the developer’s website, check the “Embed fonts” box. I couldn't notice any difference with or without font embedding. Perhaps this is at “Medium” quality.

I tried to create a PDF from the program itself. Nothing worked out. doPDF hung when clicking “Create”.

Maybe this will be fixed in next versions or she doesn't want to work for me.

During installation, doPDF installed a printer of the same name, with which you can create PDF files in any program that supports printing.

    Conclusion

This article explained how to create a PDF file in various ways. I hope everyone will find an interesting option for themselves. Bypassed online ways. One of the converters (http://smallpdf.com/) did not want to work. The second (http://convert-my-image.com/Ru) to create a PDF file from several pictures required downloading them in a ZIP archive. I find it more convenient to use Google Drive for online conversion.

If this is not the first day you have seen a computer, then you probably guess that today in the world there are a very large number of all kinds of programs designed to work with various types of data and documents.

On the one hand, a wide variety of programs is very good, but on the other hand, we have some inconveniences associated with a large variety.

The thing is that each program saves data in its own format. For example, Notebook saves text files in format txt, PowerPoint saves documents in the format ppt And pptx, Excel in format xls And xlsx, Paint V bmp etc. If we take highly specialized programs, then there may be formats that we may have never even heard of.

And you can even get used to the variety of formats and work fine until there is a need to transfer the document to someone else, i.e. show the results of your work to another person.

What is the problem you ask? But the problem is that in order to view our document, this person must have the program installed with which we created our document.

For example, if we gave a friend a document in docx format, then to read this document he must have the Microsoft program Word, and its version must be no older than 2007 (more than early versions worked with the format doc). And if he doesn’t have this program, then he needs to install it, and this can be a problem. And so with each specific format...

Today there is no universal program, which could view all existing formats!

What to do in this situation?

In this lesson I want to offer you one of the ways to solve this problem.

We will look at working in a program that allows you to various types documents create documents in pdf format. In other words, we will learn to convert documents different formats in pdf format.

    Why in pdf?

Because this format allows you to include both text and graphic information. Because documents in this format can be opened and viewed completely free of charge (by installing free program). Because this format does not have any special requirements and can be opened on any computer.

Installing the program is normal, but in order not to install anything unnecessary, you can pay attention to the following:

    1. The program has a multilingual interface, but it is not necessary to install all languages, so you can uncheck all unnecessary boxes and leave only the language that we need to work:

    2. In one of the windows we will be asked to install Yandex.Bar. This is also unnecessary, so uncheck all the boxes in this window and press the button Decline:

In all other respects, installing the program is the same as installing any other program, with the exception of one moment (which goes unnoticed) - when installing the program, a so-called virtual printer .

If, after installing the program, you look at the printers installed in the system ( Control Panel - Devices and Printers), then you can see a printer there, which has the same name as the program - PDFCreator:

A virtual printer is computer program, the operation of which is very similar to conventional printing with a real printer. However, unlike a real printer, which prints a document onto paper, a virtual printer writes the processing result not onto paper, but into a file (in our case, a pdf file).

A virtual printer is in no way connected to a regular printer!

Well, as you probably already guessed, converting a document to pdf format using PDFCreator will occur in the same way as printing, but you will need to select not a real printer, but a virtual one as the printer.

It should be noted here that, unlike many other programs, the PDFCreator program does not need to be specially launched for this, i.e. It is not necessary to click its shortcut on the Desktop.

This is probably not easy to understand, so let’s move from theory to practice and first transform Word document into a pdf document.

So, let's say we have some document of the format doc or docx. Open this document in Word program and send it to print. This is usually done using a key combination Ctrl+P or using the menu File - Print(1).

Well now important point- printer selection. In the window that opens, in the section Printer select our virtual printer PDFCreator (2):

For example, when printing a wide table, it often does not fit on the page, so you can use the Write a sheet on one page:

If you do not make this setting, the table will be displayed on several sheets and will be unreadable.

In addition, here you can adjust the width of the margins, sheet orientation, etc.

Well, after all the settings are made, press the button Seal(5), which launches the PDFCreator program we installed, as evidenced by the dialog box that appears:

In this window we can change several parameters (although this is completely optional) or uncheck After saving open output file, if we don’t want the finished pdf file to be launched immediately after saving.

We observe the document processing process for a few seconds:

And after processing, we find the finished pdf file in the previously specified location.

    That's it!

In the same way, you can convert absolutely any document from any program. The only condition is this the program must support printing information.

For example, we can turn into pdf document your drawing from Paint ( Paint program also supports printing), Power Point presentation, any text and much more.

As another example, look at what this would look like in regular Notepad:

Open the text document in Notepad, select the menu File - Print, then select our virtual printer and press the button Seal:

Many companies use documents in pdf format in their work: they open in the same way various devices, they can be protected from copying and editing, added digital signature, protect with a password, etc. Therefore, in this article we will look at various ways, with which you can create a pdf file.

    Using Microsoft Office

This method can be used if you have Microsoft Office 2007 or later versions installed on your computer. Open the file you want to convert, then on the “File” tab, select “Save As”.

If you do not have the required item in the “Type…” line, then you need to install an add-in; it is not available by default in Microsoft Office 2007. You can download the add-on from the official website:

There you can read basic information about it, system requirements and installation instructions.

    Using a virtual printer

To do this, open the document you need; it can be created in Word, Excel, or Power Point, then go to the “File” tab and select “Print”. Here you can configure the parameters as for regular printing: number of pages per sheet, select a range. Then in the printer field, from the drop-down menu, select the pdf program installed on your computer and click “Print”. As a result, a file will be created in the required format.

If you do not have any reading programs installed of this format, then move on to the next point.

    Using Foxit Reader

You can also create files in pdf format using special programs. In this article we will look at one of them – Foxit Reader. This utility free, you will only need to pay if you want to edit something, etc. Download and install Foxit Reader on your computer.

Before installing any of these programs, look to see if you already have programs such as Adobe Acrobat Pro or Adobe Reader. They can also help you create a document with the desired extension.

Launch the program and go to the “File” tab. Next, select “Create”. Foxit Reader can create a pdf from a document with a different extension, from a scanner, or from clipboard data. Just click on the corresponding button on the right side of the window.

“From file” – an explorer will open where you need to specify the one you want to convert. “From scanner” – you need to select a scanner and scan a specific fragment. "From the clipboard"– first copy the text from the desired file, then click on this button, and the document will be created, although the formatting is not saved and the pictures are not inserted.

    Using an online converter

There are quite a few different online converters that will help you create a file in pdf format. To do this, enter in the search bar "Create pdf online» and select one of the converters. I chose the one shown in the screenshot.

My page was originally in English. To change the language, select Russian in the “Change language” field at the top of the page.

In the menu on the right side you can specify which format you want to convert to. In the section "Document Converter" press "Convert to PDF format» . Now you need to select a file, click on the “Browse” button and use Explorer to look for it on the computer. Then click the button "Convert file".

Use one of the methods that suits you best and easily create necessary files in pdf format.
