• How to remove system programs from an Android device? Increasing smartphone performance

    Probably many people know and release from time to time RAM by disabling applications running in background.

    Of course, not everyone knows this, so I’ll show them how to do it easily, quickly and why.

    If you went to Facebook, YouTube or played a game, then just went to home screen, not everyone knows that these applications will not be disabled.

    They will work in the background and slow down operating system android.

    If you completely disable the applications involved, this will definitely improve the performance of your phone (smartphone) or tablet, especially in the case of devices with 512 or 1 GB of RAM.

    In Android, you have to disable them manually or using a program that quickly does the job automatically.

    I will show you 2 methods that you can use in the future, and choose your favorite yourself.

    Disable background applications in Android using a button

    Most phones have two or three buttons below the display screen (some even four).

    If you hold down the Home button for 2 seconds, application programs, running in the background and you can turn them off.

    Depending on the model, smartphone or tablet, you can turn off everything at once by pulling the screen or one at a time, one at a time.

    NOTE: On some phones or tablets, this feature may be replaced by another feature - enable popular applications.

    Disable background applications in Android task manager

    Login to the App Store Google Play and install the Task Manager program.

    A widget will be installed with it, but you can configure the program itself so that it frees up memory automatically when the screen is turned off (pic above).

    This program is called as in Windows system, but they function slightly differently, although the purpose is the same - forced closure processes.

    The widget can be displayed on the home screen, although correct setting"task manager", applications running in the background will be turned off automatically, which will undoubtedly refresh your smartphone or tablet. Good luck.

    How to disable background programs on Android

    How to disable background programs on Android. In this article, we will figure out what background applications are on Android, what they are for, and how to disable them.

    What are background applications on Android

    Background programs run background processes that are invisible to the device owner. The application seems to be closed, but it still consumes system resources, takes up space in RAM and reduces the battery life of the device. Such processes start without your knowledge and run in the background - hence their name. There are generally good reasons for running these processes - it could be synchronization, retrieving location data, or other activity related to the purpose of the application.

    But not all background processes are necessary. For example, we use some applications extremely rarely, and unnecessary background processes only unnecessarily load the device. The Android system has built-in tools with which you can always see what applications are running in the background, how much memory they consume and how they affect the battery charge.

    To see which background processes are in at the moment running, you need:

    • Enable developer mode in settings
    • Select the menu item “Process statistics”
    • Select application

    In the window that opens, you will see all the information on the selected background application.

    You can also see which programs and how much they affect the battery consumption of your device. To do this, go to the battery settings and select the “Battery Usage” menu item. You will receive a list in which, in descending order, there are applications that negatively affect the battery level.

    What background programs on Android can be disabled

    The two main types of apps that you probably don't want running in the background are games when you're not playing them, and music players when you are not listening to music. Look at other background processes too. If you don’t need this application at the moment, then you can safely close the process.

    The applications necessary for the operation of the device themselves will not allow you to close their background processes, this is how the Android system works. But do not close system background applications and those that you constantly use. If, for example, you close processes social networks and instant messengers, notifications about new messages will stop coming. Most applications and services whose names begin with “Google” should not be closed either. Here are the most important Google processes:

    You can either disable background process, or completely force close the application.

    • To disable a background process, you need to select the required one in the “Process Statistics” menu and click “Stop”
    • To forcefully stop an application, you need to select the required one in the “Application Manager” menu and click “Stop”

    Some applications themselves automatically launch in the background even after closing. To “put them to sleep” you can use Greenify. This utility prevents applications from starting automatically. If your device has ROOT rights, you can completely remove unnecessary applications from startup. You can read how to get ROOT rights in our other article.

    What to do if you have disabled background programs on Android that you need?

    If you accidentally disabled system processes or background processes you simply need, simply enable them again or reboot the device - the system itself will enable everything necessary for work.

    How to close apps running in the background on Android

    Each application that you install on Android launches corresponding services that run in the background all the time.

    These processes are responsible for all activities of the smartphone or tablet - you can synchronize data or connect to other devices.

    Some services are important, but during the diagnostic process you can find many unnecessary processes, which according to most, only slows down your system.

    For example, in some applications, you can find a service that launches a communication program from the Smart Watch.

    Such a function is very often absolutely unnecessary, and you can block its operation service. How can I close them?

    The best way to turn them off are programs from enthusiast developers, and there is a large choice, but all these developments do their job efficiently.

    Blocking and disabling background applications on Android with DisableService

    DisableService will help you disable services, but you may need root access (I don’t know what Android you have 5.1, 6.0 1 or 2.3).

    It displays a list of all services running in the background and makes it easy to block them.

    After launching, the applications will appear in the list, which is divided into two sections: third-party and system.

    As you can guess, you installed third-party applications yourself from the Play Store, while system ones are part of our firmware.

    If they are currently running in the background, then the number of services is displayed in the same line and marked in blue.

    After selecting an application, displays a list of all services in white and blue (blue is the running processes in the background)

    To disable a service, simply uncheck it in the list. The application requests root privileges ( root access) - click “Allow” which will allow the program to block the service.

    What applications can be disabled in Android

    This, unfortunately, is a complex question to which no definite answer can be given. Typically, you can easily disable any services related to data synchronization and notifications.

    However, you will not be able to disable the services responsible for the core functionality of individual applications.

    For example, when Google Play Music is running, the MusicPlaybackService service should not be disabled, as you will not be able to listen to any songs.

    Did you know that closing background mobile processes will not affect the safety of the battery in your smartphone?

    Moreover, such an act is sometimes bad idea, but most users automatically close them.

    They do this thinking that this way they save the battery and the smartphone will last longer.

    Unfortunately, this behavior has the exact opposite effect on battery life.

    Users do not understand that the mobile operating system handles perfectly running applications, to save battery life.

    A Quick Guide to Closing Applications

    1. force close applications only when you have problems with the operation of your mobile device;
    2. Closing an iPhone app gets more power than leaving it open in the background
    3. Apple provides developers with the tools to make their applications that can run in the background without loading the device at all;
    4. trust mobile system, which effectively manages active processes.

    Myths about closing applications in Android

    It's a myth that closing apps saves battery power because they are no longer running in the background. Only people are firmly convinced that everything is exactly the opposite. I'll explain with an example.

    Imagine that you are watching TV and are thirsty. Then you go to the kitchen, take a glass, fill it with water and drink half of it.

    Then you pour the other half of the unfinished water into the sink and return to the couch.

    Five minutes later, you are thirsty again. You go to the kitchen to refill the glass and drink only half of the water and throw away the other.

    It doesn't make sense, does it? Wouldn't it be better to leave a glass of water on the table and reach for it when you want to drink, rather than refilling it?

    This is called wasting resources - and the same thing happens when you close the mobile application.

    The deleted application from the smartphone’s memory will start again within some time.

    If you use a program frequently during the day, then there is no point in closing it, because this way the device will consume twice as much power as if it were left running in the background.

    Of course, the application is in limbo and remains in memory, but this has a very minor impact on the battery.

    When can you forcefully disable applications in Android?

    In theory, you should never force the closure of mobile apps.

    In practice, this is a little more subjective, because there are situations when it is simply necessary to close the program completely - for example, when it has stopped working properly, or has frozen.

    In such cases, it is even necessary to completely close and restart the program.

    In any other situation, you should let the system deal with resource management - this is one of its main functions and benefits.

    You just have to use your phone and don't bother with open apps.

    I hope this piece did you a favor. The next time you see someone force quitting an app, send them a link to this article so they understand that this behavior does not affect battery life.

    Disable Android apps running in the background

    If you're struggling with performance issues on your Android device, or trying to track down suspicious battery drain, you might want to take a look at the apps running in the background.

    This guide will tell you exactly how to do this and offer some nuances about what you can do about it.

    Before we get into the details, it's important to note that most Android applications will run in the background because they are doing what they are supposed to do. The system is good and automatically keeps everything running smoothly, so you need to think carefully before intervening.

    Check battery usage

    First, look at the battery usage built into Android.

    Go to: Settings> Battery> Battery Usage.

    If you scroll down, you'll see that there is a certain percentage listed next to each entry, showing recent battery usage.

    On the screen as a list, there will be some Google apps. Look at the app or game that seems suspicious and uses large number percent discharge. You may need to disable some programs or remove them altogether.

    Check service operation or process statistics

    You can take a look at what the dev kit is currently running on your Android device.

    1. Go to Settings > About device and tap on the build number seven times to unlock developer features.

    If you have Samsung Galaxy, it could be Settings > About Device > Software Information > Build Number.

    2. You will receive a pop-up message indicating that you are now a developer.

    3. Go to Settings > Developer Options and look for Starting Services or Process Statistics (depending on Android versions).

    4. With Running Services in Android 6.0 and above, you should see the RAM status at the top, with a list of applications and their associated processes and services currently running. By default, it will show services, but you can also click to show cached processes.

    5. Using process statistics in older versions of Android, you will see a list. The percentage next to each one tells you how often it runs, you can click on it to see your RAM usage.

    Again, you're looking for apps that are suspicious, even if you don't use them and there are a lot of them. There are system processes from Google services, which you don't want to mess with. If you don't know what they are or what they are for, just Google the name and find out.

    Once you've identified the problematic apps, you have a few different options to decide what to do about them.

    How to stop background applications temporarily?

    There are various ways To stop the application from running in the background right now, this may be enough to stop the immediate problem. You just need to be aware that the next time you open the application again, this background process will start running again.

  • Tap Recent Apps on your phone, then the X next to open application or swipe right or left to close them.
  • If you have a device under Android control 6.0 or higher, go to Settings> Developer Options> Start services, click on active application and select Stop. You will see a warning if the application cannot be stopped safely.
  • For older versions of Android (up to 6.0), in the Settings> Developer Options> Process Statistics menu, click on the active application and select “stop”.
  • On any version of Android, you can also go to Settings > Applications or Settings > Applications > Application Manager and tap stop. Older versions of Android don't have a "Run" tab in the Apps list so you can easily see what's running, but this no longer appears in Android 6.0.
  • How to stop background apps permanently

    If you want to stop the application from running in the background, then you still have several options.

    When installing an operating system or even after purchasing a new computer, problems may appear on your device. unnecessary programs and applications. The OS can independently write into memory some services that the user may not need at all. Any such software consumes system resources to a certain extent, and there are always few of them. All this can be removed, thereby improving the performance of the PC. The main thing is to know what you can turn off without serious consequences in the future.

    Where do preinstalled programs come from?

    Additional software may appear on your computer in several cases. For example, you just bought a computer or laptop, launched it and saw several strange shortcuts on the desktop. Sometimes manufacturers give unique “gifts” to customers. New laptops and personal computers are often installed with software from manufacturers of processors and video cards. A little less often, programs distributed under agreement with the developers are installed. It often happens that a kind of “side program” is installed.

    This means that during installation of what you need software you didn’t notice the checkbox (usually hidden in “advanced installation settings”) and installed an annoying, unnecessary application along with it.

    Various additions to installation package can also be classified as unnecessary programs. Often these include drivers that, according to developers, are necessary for the device to operate properly. Subsequently, except necessary drivers, others are installed, “just in case.” This also includes unnecessary system services.

    Cluttered computer with pre-installed software

    Please remember that even if your laptop or desktop computer enough free space on the PC hard drive and RAM, then still remove unnecessary programs for security reasons.

    Often such applications collect and send user information to own servers, and the transmission channel for such data is poorly protected. In this case, your confidential information It can very easily fall into the hands of ill-wishers.

    What applications and processes can be disabled?

    Before you delete everything you can get your hands on, remember: “Know what you are doing.” If a process or program is unfamiliar to you, then first figure it out, find out where it came from on the computer. The situation is similar with disabling system services of the operating system.

    Please note that uninstalling programs and applications must be done according to traditional system, that is, not through deleting the program folder. In this case, you risk clogging hard drive information that you will no longer use.

    Without serious consequences when working in the future, you can disable the following system services:

    Despite such a large number of unnecessary services, there are several extremely important ones that are responsible for the performance of components and many processes on the PC. Do not under any circumstances disable or delete the following:

    How to disable unnecessary processes in Windows 7

    Most software can be uninstalled standard means and the capabilities of the operating room itself Windows systems 7. A situation when the computer owner cannot quickly delete some third party program is extremely rare (for example, Disable_Windowsupdate.exe). First, it is recommended to generate an operating system restore point.

    It may be needed if the user incorrectly removes certain program or system components.

    System Restore Point is a unique feature of Windows operating systems that allows the user, if necessary, to make a so-called rollback before making changes. To do this you will need:

    Thus, using standard tools of the Windows 7 operating system or additional software, you can improve the performance of your computer, free up space on your hard drive and provide good protection your device from external threats.

    You buy new smartphone, you turn it on, and a bunch of unnecessary programs are already installed. It can be difficult to understand what these applications are for and whether they can be safely removed or disabled. When I purchased, out of 32 gigabytes internal memory It was free around ten. The rest of the space was occupied by preinstalled programs.

    In this article I will tell you which applications can be disabled on Android without any special consequences. I will not consider removing system software, because in most cases this requires root access. If you decide to get root, the Debloater program will easily cope with the removal task. You can download it on the play market or 4pda.

    I collected data on Samsung Galaxy devices (since I own one of them) into a summary table of applications that do not affect the performance of the phone (with a description). And you decide what to do with them. But disabling or deleting excess garbage will help increase the performance of your mobile phone.

    Please note that if you click the “stop” button, the program may subsequently restart automatically. And if you “disable” it, it does not restart until you turn it on manually. Some cannot be disabled or deleted.

    Mordokniga pays smartphone manufacturers to embed the application into the firmware. Mobile client Allows you to keep abreast of your friends' events all the time, track likes, and annoyingly notifies you about every sneeze. At the same time, it consumes a lot of resources and constantly drains the battery. Unfortunately, this infection cannot be removed in my Samsung. But you can turn it off, which I immediately did, since I don’t use this social network at all. If there is a special need, I can temporarily activate the application.

    Weather apps

    A weather widget is also often built into the phone’s operating system. It worked for me for 3 months, and then stopped updating data. I always need only two parameters from this program: air temperature and the presence of precipitation. If you need weather maps and other little things, then you don’t need to delete the program. In other cases, it is advisable to get rid of the unnecessary, power-hungry application that tries to connect to the server every minute. I couldn't do this on the A5.

    Read also: Smartphone battery drains quickly: reasons and ways to fix battery performance

    You can always check the weather by looking out the window. And if you need a forecast, Google is a good predictor.

    Antivirus programs

    You need an antivirus if your phone is rooted, you are constantly conducting experiments and installing dubious hacked applications from unknown sources. Otherwise, such protection is not required. The antivirus will also eat up memory and slow down the system unnecessarily.

    If you have any suspicions, install an antivirus and remove it after checking. My phone has a built-in one, which I also disabled.

    Clean Master and other system optimizers

    Software for “speeding up” the phone, contrary to expectations, slows down the operation of the device. Miracles do not happen, despite the assurances of the developers of these programs. Most “cleaners” only do harm. On my Samsung A5 2017, in the settings there is an “Optimization” section, where everything happens at the touch of one button. Most phones have tools for clearing the cache and remnants of deleted software. And there is no need to install additional programs.

    Default browser

    Almost every self-respecting phone manufacturer develops and implements its own Internet browser in the firmware. It may contain spyware or advertising links. But even if they are not there, this does not mean that the browser is good. Disable it or delete it.

    Best to install Google Chrome– simple and fast browser. If you care about privacy and don't want to clutter up your phone's space with accumulating cache, Firefox Focus is your choice, a private browser that leaves no traces.

    I have compiled a small table for the remaining applications. Here is everything that can be disabled without affecting the operation of Android.

    Note about updates

    Let's say you didn't turn anything off - let them work. Automatic shutdown background applications helps to avoid rapid battery discharge. But these programs are also updated! And in this case they consume not RAM, but internal memory. So I went ahead and disabled auto-updates via Play Store. I regularly manually update only those applications that I actually use.

    After purchasing the smartphone, I tested it and installed many different applications. Now I need to clean it, can I delete only the applications I installed, or can I also delete system applications that were immediately on the smartphone?

    1. Google system applications such as Gmail, Google Maps, Google+, Gtalk can be demolished, but it is better to leave the services, since their absence will lead to failures in work Play Market, games and other programs, common errors.

      In addition, you cannot delete Addresses and Navigation if you plan to use Google Maps, but you can get rid of Street View, since it is not included in this application.

      To remove system applications, you need superuser rights, that is, the device must first be rooted so that you can make changes to the system folders and files.

      Native programs are located in the /system/app folder and are represented by files with apk extensions and odex. If the firmware is deodexed, then only apk is available. To get into the folder you need to use a third-party file manager, For example, Root Explorer.

      You can remove applications manually or through additional programs. In the first case you need:

      • via Root Explorer go to /system/app;
      • Click on the “R/W Rights” button at the top right, remounting the recording folder;

      • check the boxes for deleted apk and odex application files that have the same name;
      • Select the scissors icon at the bottom;

      • go to the folder on the flash drive;
      • then “Move here”.

      It is necessary to use movements, because files can be returned if necessary.

      To simplify the procedure, you can install Uninstaller pro.

      Use it like this:

      • after the first launch, you need to grant him superuser rights;
      • press the back button;
      • Find the one you need in the list of programs and click on it;
      • then “Delete” and agree.

      In addition, here you can first make a backup just in case.

      If standard program has been updated, you first need to remove the update using the standard method:

      • go to “Settings”;
      • "Applications";
      • select what you need;
      • "Uninstall update."

      After erasing the main files, the remaining files are located in the following folders:

      • /system/lib contains the .so libraries that are needed for work related applications, they do not correspond to the name of the main file and should not be touched under any circumstances, as this can kill the device;
      • /data/dalvik-cache - they need to be deleted, for this it is better to do a hard reset.
    2. Here apk files, which can be deleted without consequences:

      • AccuWeatherDaemonService.apk, AccuweatherDaemon.apk - can be deleted, runs in the background, is needed to update information on the weather widget, takes up memory;
      • DigitalClock.apk, AccuweatherWidget.apk, AccuweatherWidget_Main.apk, AnalogClock.apk, AnalogClockSimple.apk, DeskClock.apk - weather widgets, regular, digital clock and alarm clock;
      • audioTuning.apk - reduces the sound volume when listening to music;
      • Browser.apk, SecBrowser.apk, Layarsamsung.apk, Chrome.apk - custom browsers, they can be called differently, before deleting it is better to install another one first;
      • ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk, CalendarProvider.apk, SecCalendarProvider.apk - synchronization of bookmarks of the “native” browser and calendar with a Google account;
      • Dropbox.apk, DropboxOOBE.apk - dropbox;
      • FMRadio.apk - built-in radio;
      • Geniewidget.apk, Days.apk - weather, news and task planning widget;
      • GmsCore.apk - Google Play services, delete only together with other Google programs and services;
      • GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk - Google search widget;
      • LiveWallpapers.apk, LiveWallpapersPicker.apk, MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk, DeepSea.apk, Aurora.apk - these are live wallpapers, they do not affect anything, but will greatly save battery power;
      • MobilePrint.apk - used for printing documents, it is better to delete and replace with a similar one;
      • MyFiles.apk - “native” explorer;
      • PlusOne.apk - Google service;
      • PressReader.apk - for reading news;
      • SnsAccount.apk - synchronization with Twitter and Facebook;
      • Street.apk - street view can be deleted, does not affect the operation of Google maps and other services;
      • Calendar.apk, SecCalendar.apk, TouchWizCalculator.apk, TouchWizCalendar.apk - custom calculator and calendars;
      • VideoPlayer.apk, VideoEditor.apk - video editor and built-in player, if there is another one, you can delete it, since you will not be able to view the video;
      • VoiceRecorder.apk is a native voice recorder, the recording quality is poor, so you can replace it with an alternative one;
      • Kobo.apk, Zinio.apk - online magazines.

    Any Android smartphone comes pre-installed with a large number of applications, many of which we never use. Initially, they do not take up space in application memory, but after automatic update sometimes it even goes so far as to update pre-installed applications They clog up all the memory and prevent you from installing any new applications. In addition, most pre-installed applications have a permanently running resident part, which slows down the smartphone and consumes battery power.

    Today I will tell you how to quickly and easily get rid of unnecessary applications and free up memory.

    Pre-installed applications cannot be removed using standard means, but you can disable them without forgetting to uninstall updates. Once disabled, applications will disappear from the menu and will not consume system resources.

    So, go to “Settings-Applications” and look for candidates for removal. The "downloaded" tab will contain those pre-installed applications for which Android has installed updates.

    Click on the application. First of all, click the “uninstall updates” button.

    We agree to the proposal to replace the updated application with the original version.

    Then click “Turn off” and confirm your action.

    Click "Stop" to unload the application from memory (if this is not done, it will work until rebooted).

    We do this to everyone unnecessary applications. Next, go to the “All” tab.

    Here you can see those applications that have not been updated. You just need to turn off and stop everything you don't need. This tab contains, among other things, important system applications, so disable only what you are absolutely sure of.

    I always disable the following applications:

    Drive (Google Drive)
    Maps (Google maps)
    News and weather
    Google Calendar Sync
    Movies (Google movies)
    Email
    Gmail
    Google Keep
    Google Play Press
    Google Play Movies
    Google+
    Hangouts
    Play Books
    Play Music

    Of course, if you use any applications from this list, you do not need to disable them.

    To prevent Android from installing updates on everything, it is better to turn off auto-updates: launch the “Play Store” and click on the three bars in the upper left corner.

    Let's go to settings. "Auto-update applications - never"

    At the same time, turn off “Notifications about updates”.

    This is how you can make your smartphone work faster, simply, quickly and using standard means, the application memory will not run out longer and the battery will last for more for a long time work.
