• The best programs to automatically update Windows drivers. A very easy way to install drivers on Windows

    If you are reading these lines, then you have probably wondered one thing important issue: how to find and install drivers on Windows or video cards NVidia GeForce, ATI Radeon..? Logically, I should have written several articles to show how to update drivers for free for each of these devices, but this is not required at all, and below we will find out why...

    Each of us, computer users, has had or will someday have a problem with finding drivers for certain devices connected to the computer. For example, if you reinstalled the operating system and lost the disk with device drivers. Or if, for some reason, the drivers for the device are not installed or they, as they say, have crashed, that is, they have stopped working. As a rule, such difficulties occur with network devices, printers, or video and sound cards. Logically, I should write several articles to show how to update drivers for free for each of these devices, but this is not required at all - in this article I'll show you universal method how to find and correctly install drivers on your computer or Windows laptop- first manually using VEN-DEV codes, and then automatically through the application.

    So, we can install drivers on a laptop or computer for free in two ways:

    1. Manually, having previously found the model number installed hardware.
    2. Automatically - using the DriverPack Solution driver set (Driver Pack Solution).

    Of course, it is more correct to install the software manually, having first downloaded them from the manufacturer’s official website, because in this case you will receive guaranteed working drivers for your specific model, which will not glitch and interfere with the operation of the system.

    However, for beginners who understand little about this whole computer business, it is easier to use a “magic pill”, the so-called “driver pack”, with which you can update or install from scratch all the drivers missing in Windows in one go. We are talking about the Driverpack Solution package. But you need to understand that the “firewood” that is there will be installed in automatic mode- and it is not known what exactly is installed on your computer and whether they will actually work with the components of your PC. Although, in fairness, it must be said that I myself often resort to using Driverpack Solution and have not yet experienced any serious problems with it. At the same time, using the package is the most real solution when updating the software of components of a computer that is not connected to the Internet.

    Installing drivers on a computer manually using Ven-Dev

    Let's start with how to install necessary drivers manually by downloading them directly from the Internet. For this we need:

    Two services will help us in the search - driver.ru and devid.info.

    The first one is suitable if you know exactly the manufacturer and model unidentified device. For example, you need to install a driver for an HP 2000cxi printer (in my case). Select the “Printers” section from the catalog, then the manufacturer, model and your operating system. And download the driver file.

    The second site will come to the rescue if you do not know the model of the device, for example, the video card that is inside the computer. It would seem difficult, but in fact finding them will not be difficult either, since each equipment has its own identifier code, by which its name can be determined. To do this, go to the “Start” menu, right-click on “Computer” and select the “Manage” section.

    We go to the “Device Manager” subsection, select the one whose ID we want to determine (usually it is referred to as “ Unknown device"). I will show it on my video card, which is detected by the computer in order to check how correctly the service will detect it. So, right-click on it and select “Properties”

    In a new window, open the “Details” tab and in the drop-down list “Equipment ID”. Here we see several codes that repeat the same value - VEN And DEV, it is they who interest us.

    We copy this part of the code, for me it will look like VEN_10DE&DEV_0A34, and paste it into the search form on the site and click “Search”.

    In the search results, the name of the equipment and several different sets of drivers for the video card of varying degrees of freshness appear - for me it is an nVideo video card. But before you download them, pay attention to the small tabs - here you need to select your operating system. In the very first firewood for Windows 7 32x, if you have a 64-bit system, or Windows 8, XP or another, then open the appropriate tab. And after that, download the latest driver by update date.

    As you can see, the model was determined correctly, so everything is in order - you can safely use this service.

    How to properly install drivers for Windows without Internet access?

    But what if the computer that needs the update is not connected to the Internet? Then you won’t be able to download anything onto it? Yes and no. In such a case you should have removable media with full set Driverpack drivers Solution for famous existing devices, so that you can install them on any computer or laptop at any time.

    The algorithm for its operation is as follows:

    1. Detection of models of all computer components
    2. Defining Versions latest firmware
    3. Verifying them with new firmware using manufacturer databases
    4. Creating a system restore point
    5. Driver Update

    And all this is done for free - no, of course there is, paid option application, which is background automatically searches when connected to the Internet latest updates and installs them, and in Free versions this will have to be done manually. But the question is, do we need it? We'll check it once, install it and it's safe.

    How to update Ven/Dev video card driver?

    So, download and install this program, and we launch.

    We won’t look at the main window for a long time - we’ll immediately press the “Start Scan” button and scan the system.

    The number of drivers available for updating will be written in large red numbers. And below them full list. Among the huge number there are drivers for a video card that are so desired by most readers - NVidia Geforce or Ati Radeon(underline as appropriate). The same as for the network card, bluetooth adapter, sound card (I have two of them - internal Realtek and external Creative) and so on.

    After this, click on the “Download Update” link next to each item one by one. Let's do this for the very first one.
    After clicking on the link, the program will ask whether to create a system restore point. We agree by clicking “Yes”, in case something goes wrong, so that we can roll back to previous state.

    All we have to do is wait for it to finish and restart the computer. I recommend rebooting after each update so that all changes are successfully applied.

    How to remove Ven Dev driver?

    But in this article we will not limit ourselves to just installing and updating the driver. What if I have to remove drivers on Windows? For example, from the same video card or an unused printer? To do this, let's download another wonderful program - Driver Sweeper.

    It’s also easy to use—download, install, launch.

    To begin with, you can translate it into Russian in the “Language” section.
    In the main window of the program - the names of manufacturers and types of equipment for which drivers are installed on your computer. If among the missing there are those that are no longer needed, then put a tick in front of them.

    Then click “Clean” or “Cleaning” in the Russian version. A new window will display a list of data entered in the registry. We confirm the deletion and wait. After finishing, we will again be asked to restart Windows, which we will do for the changes to take effect.

    Here they are convenient programs, used to remove or update drivers on Windows. Lastly, look at my detailed lesson on working with these utilities and don’t forget to subscribe to blog updates - another article about installing drivers has already been written and planned, but only offline if the computer does not have access to the Internet. So wait for now!

    Good day!

    Drivers are like gears in a mechanism; if you don’t have them on your computer (or they are not “native”), the system does not work in normal mode: sometimes something freezes, sometimes it won’t start, various slowdowns and errors.

    Video and audio drivers are especially difficult (in the first case there are problems with games, in the second there is no sound). I think this is why there has always been interest in programs that allow you to update drivers without direct user participation (to press one button and that’s it...).

    Actually, in this article I decided to collect a dozen similar programs that will help save time and nerves in case of problems with drivers.

    By the way, the list of programs below is current at the beginning of 2018, it represents, in a way, the top 10 best products with their pros/cons.

    And so, closer to the point...

    Driver Booster

    It is rightfully considered one of best programs for auto-searching and updating drivers. Judge for yourself: to start updating, you only need to press one button! After which, the program will scan your PC and show for each of your hardware current version drivers (will recommend what to update and what can be left - you just have to agree and update everything. Very fast and convenient ☺).

    In addition to drivers, the program also updates important components in Windows related to games (so if you have problems with them - it might be worth checking your system with using Driver Booster).

    Note: for the program to work Driver Booster Internet connection required.

    Driver Booster - 18 found outdated drivers// example of how the program works

    Peculiarities:

    1. simple and user-friendly interface, which even a complete novice user can understand;
    2. a huge driver database that is constantly updated (for more than 1 million devices);
    3. the update process takes place in 2 stages: first, the program scans your PC, then asks you what exactly it will update (you can simply agree with the recommended settings, or you can configure everything yourself);
    4. before updating - the program archives your old drivers (so you can roll back if something happens...);
    5. There is a batch driver update (i.e. for several devices at once).

    DriverPack Solution

    DriverPack Solution (or DPS) is fundamentally different from Driver Booster - it can work even without an Internet connection. DPS simply has 2 versions of the program:

    • the first is a 15 GB ISO image. If you download it in advance, you will subsequently be able to run DPS and install drivers on any PC that does not have the Internet (for example, sometimes it happens that the computer is connected to the network - but does not work network card due to the lack of a driver (which needs to be downloaded ☺). In this case, such an image helps a lot!);
    • second - regular program, similar to Driver Booster. You also launch it, then DPS scans the PC, and then downloads all the necessary drivers from the Internet.

    Peculiarities:

    1. there are two versions of the program: one for online updating, and the second for offline work (an ISO image with a large collection of drivers can be a big help in case of network problems);
    2. large database of drivers (usually available for all equipment);
    3. In addition to drivers, DPS offers to install other necessary and useful programs(comfortable);
    4. Batch driver update;
    5. the ability to create backup drivers;
    6. there is an opportunity to conduct antivirus scan PC, check RAM, etc.;
    7. of the minuses: the latest versions have a lot of built-in advertising, check all the boxes carefully!

    Important!

    DriverHub

    Fully free utility for auto-search, installation, and update of drivers. I should immediately note that for the utility to work, you need access to the Internet!

    Usage is very simple: just launch and click just 1 button “Find Now” (as shown in the screenshot below).

    In a minute or two, a driver will be found for each piece of hardware on your PC/laptop (see example below). You just have to check the boxes for everything you want to update and click the “Install” button. Actually, this is the whole process. Very convenient!

    List of found drivers (DriverHub) / clickable

    Peculiarities:

    1. a large database of drivers for a wide variety of equipment: audio and video cards, USB devices (scanners, printers, etc.), mat. boards, etc.;
    2. When updating, the utility uses drivers from official sites: Intel, AMD, Microsoft, Sony, etc.
    3. completely free: download speed, number of updated drivers, etc. are not limited in any way!
    4. it is possible to roll back the system to a previous state (if you are not satisfied with how the new driver works);
    5. the program is entirely in Russian;
    6. there are links in the menu for quick setup OS: power supply, disk manager, computer management, network management, etc.
    7. runs on Windows 7/8/10 (32/64 bits).

    Please note: check all the boxes during installation (sometimes an Avast download prompt pops up)! In addition, the program does not behave very well on laptops with low resolution (the window does not “scale”).

    Snappy Driver Installer

    Note : Can work without access to the Internet.

    Snappy Driver Installer is a free auto-installer for drivers (very similar to DriverPack Solution, a direct competitor to it, although the package is not so promoted). What sets it apart from the previous program (DPS) is that the offline version is not distributed in the form of ISO image(to open which you need additional programs), and in the form of a simple folder with an EXE file - we launched it, and the drivers were updated. Very convenient!

    By the way, Snappy Driver Installer also has a compact version, the size of which is only a few megabytes. But it requires an Internet connection to work.

    Peculiarities:

    1. a huge collection of drivers for all occasions (I recommend recording it on an emergency flash drive so that it is always at hand);
    2. two versions of the package: full 14 GB (without the need for an Internet connection), and compact - the program weighs 4 MB (but requires unlimited network access);
    3. minimum advertising and unnecessary programs;
    4. fast update;
    5. customizable shell to suit the user's taste;
    6. completely in Russian.

    Utilities from Intel, AMD, NVIDIA

    Intel Driver Update

    An official utility from Intel that will help update drivers for any product from this company: processor, network devices, disks, and more. Compatible with all versions of Windows, completely in Russian.

    After launching the utility, it will automatically recognize the equipment and find all the necessary software for it. proper operation. Driver installation is completely automatic.

    In general, if you use Intel products, naturally, I recommend using the native utility ☺. For the rest, it's unlikely to be useful...

    AMD Driver Autodetect

    These are tools for automatically searching for video drivers for AMD products. After launch, the utility will automatically detect your video card, system and other characteristics and provide a link to download the optimal driver.

    The utility is completely in Russian, works in Windows environment. The program, by the way, can be used not only to search for a driver, but also to update an already installed one (you must admit that it is much easier to press one button in the program than to independently climb through the jungle of official sites, where there is a mountain of all sorts of semi-necessary information ☺).

    NVIDIA Update

    Official utility for NVIDIA users. After launching the utility, it will scan all your hardware on your PC, evaluate whether there are drivers for them, and offer to update them (if necessary). By the way, in the settings profiles you can set how often updates will be checked (whether to allow the use of beta versions, whether to notify pop-up messages in the tray).

    By the way, starting with R275 drivers, NVIDIA Update updates not only drivers, but also game profiles automatically (including SLI profiles). I’ll also add that the official website (link given above) describes the step-by-step setup of the program (although there’s nothing special to configure there ☺).

    Driver Genius

    Very popular program for working with drivers. It is quite multifunctional: it can automatically find and update up to latest version drivers, create backup copies already installed drivers, restore lost ones, delete old and unnecessary ones. It’s quite easy to use: after launching the program, it will automatically collect information about your PC and hardware, evaluate the system and offer an update option. Supports Russian language.

    Peculiarities:

    1. huge driver database, support for more than 300,000 different devices;
    2. backup of current drivers (moreover, you can place them either in an archive or create an EXE installer, so that in case of problems, you can run it and install the drivers without Driver Genius);
    3. the ability to remove old or unnecessary drivers;
    4. command line support;
    5. Russian language support;
    6. works under all popular Windows: 7/8/10 (32/64 bits);
    7. of the minuses: the program is paid (in free version There are restrictions on updating and working with backups).

    SlimDrivers

    Free and enough multifunctional program to automatically search and update drivers (by the way, it does this quite well). In addition to its main responsibility (☺), the program does a good job of creating backup copies of “firewood” (and in case of problems, restoring them). There is also a task scheduler (for example, for regularly checking for updates), and there is a function for removing any driver from the system (completely!).

    Peculiarities:

    1. fast automatic search and update;
    2. task scheduler;
    3. function complete removal old or unnecessary driver;
    4. backup and recovery;
    5. all functions work in the free version (many similar utilities require payment for the same functionality);
    6. works in all common Windows: 7/8/10;
    7. of the minuses: an abundance of advertising during installation (look carefully at the checkboxes).

    Auxiliary

    3DP Net

    3DP Net is a specialized utility that is necessary to update the driver on network adapter(network card). Imagine: you don’t have the Internet, because... The network card does not work (there is no driver for it). And for the network card to work, you need a driver that is available on the Internet.

    How to solve this puzzle? That's right, download 3DP Net, the size of which is only about 100 MB (you can do it from a smartphone), and run it - the utility will automatically select the driver and you will have a network. I recommend!

    Note: Please note that there are 2 utilities on the official website - 3DP Chip and 3DP Net (we are talking about the second one!).

    Double Driver

    Developer's website: http://www.boozet.org/

    This small free utility is necessary to create a backup of all installed drivers. Moreover, she does this very quickly (often the required time is no more than 1 minute!).

    I would like to note that the drivers in the utility are displayed in a convenient list (in order), which can be saved or printed. The drivers are also carefully stored in the backup, each in a separate folder, the names of which are identical to your devices.

    In general, an extremely necessary, useful and free utility (similar programs for backups cost money) ...

    Driver Sweeper

    Developer's website: http://phyxion.net/

    Simple and reliable program to completely remove absolutely any drivers in the system! Be careful with it, because... it doesn't really limit your options. It helps a lot in cases where you can’t remove some driver stuck in the system (or you don’t see it and can’t find it, but it’s there ☺).

    Before deleting it, you can create backup copy all the "firewood" (just in case) ... The program works in all Windows versions, Russian language is supported.

    DDU

    Simple and effective utility to completely remove the video driver from the system (I think many have encountered the problem of updating the video driver due to the fact that the new one was not installed until the old one was completely removed). This is exactly what DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) can handle.

    The program supports all video card software from AMD, Intel, NVIDIA (including various registry keys, components, folders, etc.). I also note that after DDU works, there are no traces of the presence of the old driver left in your system.

    Display Driver Uninstaller has three operating modes: the first is to simply remove the driver and restart the PC/laptop; the second is normal deletion (reboot is on your conscience ☺); the third is removing and shutting down the PC.

    By the way, the utility keeps a log in which it records all the actions you perform. For example, you can use it to see which driver versions have already been installed (convenient if you are looking for the latest working version drivers, and don’t remember which ones you’ve already tried).

    Results (what to remember!)

    1. one of the most simple ways update all drivers and game components in Windows - use Driver program Booster;
    2. if you don't know for which device you don't have a driver, open device Manager: A yellow exclamation mark will appear next to a device for which there is no driver;
    3. It is highly advisable to write some driver package to an emergency flash drive ahead of time that can work without internet connection(for example, Snappy Driver Installer or DriverPack Solutions (if the choice fell on the second program, then additionally download the program for ISO opening images));
    4. if you have failed to update driver by using automatic update in similar programs - try the manual method:

    That's all for me, for additions on the topic - special thanks in advance!

    Hello Friends! Installing drivers. A question that worries the majority of the world's population after successfully installing the Windows operating system. What is it - a driver. Definition. A driver is a program through which the operating system interacts with computer devices. Without the appropriate driver, the system does not know how to work with this device, and may not even know what kind of device it is. Therefore, you must be careful when installing drivers, otherwise you will not enjoy the work.

    In this article you will learn everything you need to find, select and install drivers.

    Sometimes situations happen when there is no driver for a device. For example, drivers for the ASUS X55U laptop chipset

    Or you found a device without drivers

    In the device manager it may simply be written - Unknown device.

    In this case, you can use the service http://devid.drp.su/. There are also instructions for finding a driver.

    Conclusion

    In this article we dealt with the concept driver installation in the Windows operating system. There are two installation methods:

    • using installation disks from devices that are usually included
    • using a search on the manufacturer's website

    We figured out how to update drivers for devices from Intel, AMD and NVIDIA.

    We examined in detail the search and installation of drivers by ID on the drp.su website. The main thing is to follow the installation sequence. First, drivers for the chipset, then whatever you want.

    As I understand it, operating systems through the Update Center will slowly offer to install new versions of drivers. Therefore, you can install it once fresh drivers, and then install all important and almost all additional updates.

    I will be happy to ask questions in the comments. Thank you for sharing the article on social networks. All the best to you!

    Sincerely, Anton Dyachenko

    The need to install a driver for a device appears periodically. Of course, most often this is encountered by those people who have just reinstalled the Windows operating system.

    This article will discuss how and in what ways drivers are installed on Windows 7. It happens automatically, of course, but it’s still worth telling how to do it manually, so let’s get started.

    Installation using standard tools

    It often happens that the need for installation takes you by surprise. In such a situation, there is no time to download additional software or for use third party tools. Fortunately, there are standard means, in which installing drivers on Windows 7 automatically provides normal work computer. Let's talk about this right now.

    Device Manager

    Standard Windows build 7 there is such a utility as It will help us install necessary drivers. Of course, its list of functions includes many more operations, but at the moment We are interested in installing the driver.

    First, let's outline the procedure:

      search and selection of the desired device;

      determining the installation method;

    As you can see, there is nothing complicated.

    So, in order to launch the "Device Manager", you first need to go to the "Control Panel". To do this, click “Start” and in the window that appears in the right panel, find the line of the same name. Click on it with the left mouse button.

    Now you have a list in front of your eyes. In it you need to find the same “Device Manager”. To do this, you can use the search. Search bar located in the upper right part of the window.

    As soon as you get to the device manager, you should see a considerable list of those same devices connected to the PC. To make searching easier, they are all arranged in sub-items. If you think of sound, then look for the line " Sound devices" and open it.

    Now select necessary component and open its properties by right-clicking and selecting the item of the same name. In the window that opens, you need to click on the “Driver” tab, and there is already that treasured “Update” button.

    Equipment installation

    It may happen that the installation of drivers on Windows 7 was automatically unsuccessful. Therefore, there is a second option, which we will now discuss in more detail.

    First, open the “Run” window. To do this, press the Win and R keys simultaneously. A window will appear at the bottom left of the desktop. Enter hdwwiz in the line - this is the command that will open for us the necessary utility"Installation and Equipment".

    Once it opens, click “Next”. Now we are faced with a choice: conduct an automatic search Windows drivers 7 or manual. With automatic, everything will happen as in the previous example, so now we’ll choose manual.

    In the next window, click on the line “Show all devices” to display them. Select what you need from the list and click “Next”. In the next window, also click “Next”.

    You will now be asked to provide the path to the driver. After installing it, it is advisable to restart your computer.

    Installation using applications

    Drivers for Windows 7 can be installed automatically using third-party software. This method is often much better. At least because it is lighter. Programs of this kind always have a simple and accessible interface that is understandable even inexperienced users. There are an unimaginable number of these programs, but we will talk about just one - Driver Booster.

    Driver Booster

    Working with the presented application is very simple. First you need to download it; to do this, go to the official website. Use any search engine for this and, by entering the name of the program, you will see the desired address in the first line of the list.

    Be careful when installing. Since the program is free, it offers to install additional software; always uncheck it so as not to clog up your computer.

    After installation, double-click on the icon that appears on your desktop. As soon as Driver Booster opens, it will automatically begin scanning the system to look for outdated drivers. This procedure usually takes no longer than a minute, and upon completion, a list will appear with devices that need updating and those that are ok. At the top of the program there is an “Install” button. Click it and Windows 7 drivers will start.

    As you can see, when using third-party drivers on Windows 7 it automatically runs much faster. However, there is also a minus. With Driver Booster it is not possible to install a driver from a computer, loading in progress directly from the Internet. But you will always be sure that your drivers are the latest, since the program will notify you if any are out of date.

    If the driver disk is lost or it is already quite outdated during installation operating system you need to update your drivers (the program that controls the hardware and devices of your computer). You can find drivers on the manufacturer's official website, or through search engines by device name. Be careful when downloading drivers from third-party sites, sometimes there are viruses in the archives, third-party projects try to install programs for you to update drivers, all this risks reinstalling the operating system.

    Sometimes all known and available drivers are installed, but the hardware contains unknown devices. Or several significant drivers are available on the official website different devices. In this case, you can determine which device is installed using the device instance code.

    To download and install Windows drivers you need to do the following:

    1. Open Device Manager from Control Panel. You can also open it through the right mouse button on “My Computer” - Management.
    2. We determine the list of which drivers we are missing. Marked exclamation marks, or called “Unknown device”.
    3. Download from only the official website. For example, for HP laptops – hp.com.
    4. Install.
    5. Reboot the system.
    6. In screen properties from the Control Panel. Or use the right mouse button on the desktop – Screen Properties (Screen Resolution) to set the native resolution. Brute force: don’t rush to press anything if the screen goes dark. Return in 5 seconds previous settings. Or you can look up the value on the Internet.

    The device instance code contains Vendor (VEN) and Device (DEV) numbers. In our case, Vendor 10DE Device 0614. Using the Goggle search, we look for the name of the equipment, but download the drivers from the manufacturer’s official website.
