• The best TV antennas. The key to free TV - Super antenna for digital TV? - or another deception

“An antenna for digital TV is your pass to the world of an ideal picture” - “The key to free TV” - This is exactly what the advertising slogans of television and online stores sound like and it’s not a hoax! You can actually watch digital television in good quality through an antenna. But the trouble is that this is where the whole truth ends! What am I talking about?

Hi all! The author of this site, Vitaly Lebakh, is in touch. And what prompted me to write this article? One might say, the desire to warn your readers about the deception that is actively advancing in the wake of spreading digital television. And also, indignation at the impudence of some sellers who sell people goods that are not worth their money, knowingly deceiving and misleading.

    Quick navigation through the article

Antennas "Key to Free TV" and Aerial 2100

This article describes two antennas called "Key to Free TV" and "Aerial 2100". But... Currently they are already promoting and.

    Key to free TV

To be honest, after watching the advertisement for this antenna, I thought, “Come on! No one will fall for this” - But I was wrong, however, and it’s understandable, people invest a lot of money in advertising. Before this, they conduct various tests, select texts and slogans, in general, they do everything so that an uninformed person would say “Uh-huh-I WANT” and run to lay out his money.

At first, advertising fell off the TV screens. IN different times The antennas have changed somewhat in their appearance, but in general, this antenna looks something like this - Ring and Mustache, which, by the way, is completely unnecessary for digital TV, since the mustache is designed to receive waves in the meter range, and digital TV is in the decimeter range.

The store on the couch offers a certain antenna positioning it as “The Key to Free TV” - and there is some truth in this, indeed Digital Terrestrial Television is absolutely free.

As many as 20 television channels and 3 radio stations.

And THAT'S ALL, guys THAT'S ALL! Twenty and three - Not a hundred or two hundred, and for the majority of the audience these 20 are enough. And in some places there are not even 20 yet; only 10 digital channels are broadcast and only in some places, for example in the Moscow region, there are more than 30 channels.

Perhaps in the future, when radio frequencies are freed up due to the large-scale introduction of DTV, it will be possible to expand to 30 channels throughout the country.

But why shout that with this miracle antenna it is possible to watch more than a hundred digital channels?!

Why present this antenna in such a way that it’s enough to just buy it and that’s it?! And free, numerous, digital channels will appear on your TV screens! And the fact that most people do not have a DVB-T2 tuner on their TVs and this antenna will be useless, not a word.

Well, sell me a miracle antenna...!

Since I deal with television, antennas and the like, people began to contact me asking for the opportunity to purchase this wonderful antenna! I explain to them that this is all a hoax, there is no need to buy an antenna for 2999 rubles.

    And what happens next?

Yeah, some buyers think... Since I couldn’t buy it from you, I’ll buy it at the TV store!

Time passes! They come and say, “She doesn’t catch anything! I called them, they said send it back to us, we will return the money."

Well, at least that's it. Although I have big doubts about this too. If they start accepting all returns……. Well, you understand!

And recently there was a number - A man comes, another victim of advertising, complaining... So I bought it, spent so much money, but it doesn’t work. He says I’m calling them, and they answer me: “You also buy a set-top box and put a 6-meter antenna on the mast, it will work.”

Apparently the girls on the phone are already tired of answering complaints.)))

Was it worth it for people to bother! When an antenna that actually works costs three or even four times less.

Well, yes! Who needs it? They don’t play it, they don’t advertise it on TV, it’s simply offered by a person who installs and configures antennas, and this is not our level! Give us the one from the advertisement!

Why am I so obsessed with this antenna? A normal antenna will even work in conditions good signal, and since the digital TV signal in many regions is already high, and this trend will develop, it will work for many. This is what sellers are counting on.

Well, the fact is that its real price does not exceed 1200 rubles, we are talking about an antenna with an amplifier, and without it it’s generally a full 300 rubles. Here is an example of such an antenna with an amplifier proposal.

Or the fact that you can use an antenna of a different design, costing three times less, with much better results. So who cares?

Don’t buy into tricks, it’s better to ask a specialist what and how.

The most powerful antenna for digital TV - Your pass to the ideal world of TV pictures - Aerial 2100 Antenna

Internet sellers also got involved with even greater cynicism. The Japanese (read Chinese) antenna AERIAL 2100 is being actively advertised. This is generally something extremely cheap and of little use! DON'T BE FOOLED!!!

I suggest you take a closer look at their offer, so to speak, pay attention to the pictures, admire, but don’t buy it!

It’s true that there are no ripples, a clear and stable image! Digital television is capable of this. But not always with the antenna they offer. The fact that there are more than 100 channels is an outright lie! 20 channels. All!

Well, only in some regions there may be a little more due to non-state TV channels, or for example in cities bordering Ukraine or other nearby countries you can catch their digital TV channels.

The phrase “Ideal for plasma TVs” generally kills, I’ll explain why.

The fact is that when plasma was produced, the DVB-T2 format did not yet exist, and therefore plasma TV It was not equipped with an appropriate tuner and will not pick up digital signals without an external set-top box. So it's not ideal. But even this is not all.

Just a few days ago, I was repairing a plasma TV SAMSUNG with a diagonal of 50 inches. The infection consumes 450 watts! So, this TV, when connecting a set-top box to it via HDMI input, reports “Unavailable format” It turned out that the set-top box was turned on in an image resolution mode of 1080 P that was too high for it, and the TV was only capable of reproducing a maximum of 720 P.

I had to change the console to more low quality 720P video signal So there is no question of any HD quality using plasma! Outdated technology you understand!

    Next, about this “wonderful” offer!

Salespeople use strong motivation! Why pay for 100+ satellite TV channels when you can watch 100+ for free with this antenna! And you don’t have to spend a lot on satellite equipment! I just bought one antenna and that’s it! Beauty!!! But the truth is deceiving!

Where would we be without reviews from “grateful customers”, you can’t do without them! Read what they write. A certain Sergei mentions plasma, and above you could already read my point of view about this. Gregory, rejoices at the low cost - he’s an eccentric though!

And it's true! How much does this miracle cost? Let's see!

Wow, what a discount! We must take it! Two, no three antennas!

Well, for the final part, the most interesting thing is, what kind of antenna is this?! PaaBaaM!!! There should be fanfare here!

Simply amazing!!! Doesn't remind me of anything??? Take a look below! And compare prices. I assure you, these antennas are like birds of a feather! Some will be even better quality.

And again I will say that if you live close to a tower, then even such an antenna will receive 20 digital TV channels.

But not for 1390 rubles! Yes, plus 300 rubles. for delivery!

With the same success, you can bend a ring of wire, taking a two or three liter glass jar as a sample of the required diameter. Do not close the ring, leave a gap of approximately 1.5 cm.

Connect a television cable to the ends of this open ring. The central core is on one end, and the screen is on the other. All! The effect will be the same, in the area of reliable signal reception it will work. Trust my experience!

Antenna is the key to free television, reviews

By the way, I specifically went to several review sites and was once again convinced.

People make extra money by leaving reviews about everything……..then think for yourself! In general, these reviews are “left”!

I was especially impressed by the pearl from the “Former Employee” of the Tricolor company. This is simply a masterpiece of technical illiteracy! At first I thought he probably worked there as a janitor, but no, he installed equipment! Get acquainted, the most “delicious” is highlighted. And people BELIEVE THIS??? Alas Yes!

After such descriptions, it is not surprising why many believe that apart from this “Miracle Antenna” nothing else is unnecessary. Naive!

Here are a few more, but compared to the above, this is already so, too drab!

    These are the pies...

How to choose an antenna for your TV

The choice depends on where the structure is installed. Outdoor ones with an amplifier are suitable for a remote installation location, narrowband ones for city apartments, active indoor ones, and frame ones for cars. In villages and dachas it is better to install parabolic dishes. The choice depends on the criteria of distance, price range, and amplification factor.

    For car

For high-quality reception of TV, radio, and navigator, a combined GPS or GSM car unit is required. Parabolic will accept all programs, but will be expensive. In-cabin active all-wave structures are equipped with an amplifier, external ones are passive and require an extension cord. Among the disadvantages of the latter, instability to corrosion is noted.

    For the dacha

To watch TV in the country, it is better to buy an active structure and install it as high as possible. The kit should include an amplifier and an adapter; you will need to purchase a coaxial wire for charging. External type should be on the roof. If the TV tower is nearby, it will do internal structure. To listen to the radio, purchase broadband.

    Home

In a city apartment or country house It is easier to install an indoor unit on a TV if the repeater is no more than 30 km away. Otherwise, you will have to install an external one (active or passive) or a digital one with a tuner. It is better to choose a room type (meter signals) or frame type (decimeter signals): it is mobile, weighs less, and is easy to connect.

    For digital television

Provide stable reception of weak messages and high-quality TV images parabolic collective antennas. They are distinguished by an expanded package of channels and increased stability. When installing, it is necessary to take into account the location of the unit relative to the broadcast source. You should choose a plate based on costs and capabilities.

    Video

In most cities, the “horns” of the antenna above the TV (as well as the shamanic actions to set it up) have long ago become a thing of history - cable television almost completely replaced broadcasting. But civilization has not yet penetrated everywhere into country houses and, especially, into holiday villages, but I still want to watch TV. And there are plenty of cities on the map of Russia that have not yet fallen into the web of cable TV. And here television antennas are still relevant.

But the conditions for receiving a television signal are different everywhere - from one place the television center tower can be seen with the naked eye, from another it is tens of kilometers away. In all these cases, different antennas will be required. And so that the purchase does not disappoint, you should find out the reception conditions at the place where the antenna is installed, decide on its characteristics, and only then go to the store.

How to find out the conditions of admission? It’s good if the television center and its transmitting tower are visible from the window - then the question disappears. And if the television center is several tens of kilometers away, how then can one determine in which direction and how far away the nearest repeater tower is? This can be done using interactive map digital terrestrial television broadcasting on the website of the Russian television broadcasting network. You just need to select your region on the map and zoom in to the desired scale. The map shows both existing and under construction towers. Alternatively, you can simply click your mouse pointer in desired point the distance and direction to the nearest towers – both existing and those under construction – will be displayed on the map and in a separate window.

    Characteristics of television antennas.

Accommodation It can be indoor or outdoor.

Indoor, as the name suggests, are installed indoors, usually in close proximity to the TV. The undoubted advantage of indoor antennas is their ease of installation - in fact, most indoor antennas can simply be connected to the TV and the installation of the antenna ends there. Tune indoor antennas It’s also much simpler due to the fact that the quality of the “picture” can be monitored independently directly during the setup process. The disadvantage of an indoor antenna is that, compared to an outdoor antenna with similar characteristics, an indoor antenna is guaranteed to provide worst quality"pictures". In fact, you can only hope for good reception from an indoor antenna where the television signal level is high enough. This is the area in close proximity to the television tower (3-15 km from it, depending on the transmitter power) and points located with this tower in direct visibility conditions.

If you are not sure that your TV is in the zone confident reception, but for some reason you cannot install an outdoor antenna, buy an indoor antenna with active amplification and try to point it towards the nearest TV tower, ideally through a window directed in the corresponding direction.

External antennas are more likely to receive weak signal from a distant TV tower. For installation in a country house or country house, in an area remote from a television tower, you should choose an outdoor antenna. Installing such antennas will require some effort and you will need an assistant to set it up, but all the costs will be more than recouped by the quality of the “picture”, which no indoor antenna will be able to provide. When installing an outdoor antenna, do not forget about the importance of the correct installation height of the antenna - often the signal quality can be significantly improved by raising the antenna higher by a meter and a half.

TV signal amplifier may be necessary if the antenna is not placed in a location with good reception. This may happen when:
    - the TV is far away from the transmitting antenna of the television center or from the TV repeater;
    - the presence of high-rise buildings and structures on the line between the television tower and the television;
    - the presence of production sites, electrical substations and other objects emitting electromagnetic interference on the line between the TV tower and the TV;
    - placing the TV in a low area or behind folds of terrain that prevent the spread of electromagnetic waves.

Gain can be passive ( external power supply absent) – then the antenna amplifies the signal only due to its design. In the absence of external power, the antenna’s ability to amplify the signal is limited, but this is not always a disadvantage - an active amplifier introduces its own noise into the signal, which can significantly affect the quality of the “picture”. Therefore, you should choose an antenna with active amplification only if passive signal amplification is not enough to obtain a high-quality “picture”.

Active amplification provides for the presence of a separate antenna in the antenna kit electronic device– TV signal amplifier. Such a device requires external power - from its own power supply or from another source (models connected to a USB port are becoming increasingly common, fortunately, most of them are equipped with USB today modern TVs). For places very far from a TV tower, purchasing an antenna with an active amplifier may be the only way to get at least some image on the screen. But even in places with reliable reception, purchasing an active antenna may be justified - if you plan to connect several TVs to the antenna or the cable length from the antenna to the TV is long - 10 meters or more.

As mentioned above, any active amplifier introduces its own noise into the signal, which arises during the operation of semiconductor elements. Unfortunately, the signal-to-noise ratio for an antenna amplifier is very rarely indicated by the antenna manufacturer, so choose active antenna, focusing on this parameter, it is unlikely to succeed. Therefore, to avoid purchasing an antenna with an amplifier made from low-quality components, you should focus on well-known, trusted manufacturers and refrain from purchasing the cheapest models.

Signal Boost determines the antenna's ability to amplify a weak signal. Gain is measured in decibels - the higher the gain level, the weaker the signal the antenna will be able to amplify.

The gain of each antenna is formed from its own (passive) and active gain, obtained using an amplifier. If the antenna's own gain is low (the reason may be simple design or poor quality assembly), then the presence of a powerful amplifier in the kit will not help the matter - yes, the output signal will be strong, but noisy. Therefore, you should not chase the maximum gain values - the design and placement of the antenna are no less important. In addition, manufacturers often resort to tricks and even outright deception, indicating on the packaging a gain factor that does not correspond to reality.

You should not expect that a cheap antenna with a stated gain of 35 dB will give the same effect as an expensive outdoor antenna with a complex design, with a gain of the same 35 dB.

It should also be borne in mind that excessive amplification can harm the area of reliable signal reception. Therefore, if you purchase an antenna with above-average gain (from 10-15 dB), choose models with gain control. Otherwise, if the signal is over-amplified, the TV may refuse to show anything at all.

Signal reception antenna can be produced both at any broadcast frequency and only in one or two bands.

Admission to FM-band in relation to an antenna means that it can be used to receive and listen through a TV to radio stations operating in this range (88-108 MHz).

To transmit a television signal, meter ( VHF) and decimeter ( UHF) waves. Broadcasting analog terrestrial television produced on both bands: 1-12 channels on the VHF range (47-160 MHz), 21-60 channels on the UHF range (470-862 MHz). Thus, to receive analogue channels, the antenna must operate in both bands. Another thing is that in Russia, starting from 2018, it is planned to stop broadcasting analogue television. Digital television of the DVB-T2 standard will remain the only type of terrestrial television in Russia, and it is broadcast in the decimeter range (UHF). Therefore, you should not chase support for the VHF band - most likely, the need for support for this range will disappear in the near future. And you should definitely avoid buying an antenna that only supports this range.

Separately, it should be noted the so-called “DVB-T2 support”. In relation to an antenna, this phrase does not make much sense - if the antenna operates in the UHF range, then it will receive a DVB-T2 digital signal. If the antenna does not work in this range, then there will be no DVB-T2 support, no matter what is written on the box. And certainly an antenna “with DVB-T2 support” is not capable of providing digital television playback on an old TV that does not have a DVB-T2 tuner. If your TV does not provide digital television reception, in addition to an antenna, you will need

Television is an integral part of human life. With its help, they not only learn the latest news, but also watch educational and entertaining television programs. To receive TV broadcasts you need an antenna. If the repeater tower is close and there are no natural obstacles, then you can use indoor antennas. In urban environments there are usually no problems with the quality of the television signal. But the desire to have access to your favorite programs does not leave you even outside the city, on vacation in the countryside or in the country. For remote locations where broadcasting is difficult, you need to use more powerful external antennas that can capture and transmit even the weakest signal without interference or distortion.

Do you want to set up T2 in your apartment or country house? To do this, you need to purchase the appropriate equipment. A super antenna is far from a necessary condition; the power is determined in accordance with the distance of your home to the nearest TV tower.

Now we will study the most powerful television antennas for digital television, which will be useful to users located far from signal transmitters.

Types of antennas for digital TV

What is needed for reliable and high-quality digital signal reception? Of course, an antenna, but which one? It doesn’t matter where exactly your home is located, the issue of choosing equipment should be taken as responsibly as possible, because the complexity of setting up TV channels will depend on this.

Indoor models are an option for users who are in close proximity to television towers. There are several types of digital antennas:

    • active- equipped with an additional signal amplifier and operate from a 220V network. This option is needed if you are in an area of uncertain reception;
    • passive- do not contain additional devices, receive a signal only due to their area and shape. Numbers are used in the area of reliable reception.

Special digital TV antennas are a marketing ploy, since in principle they do not exist, as well as cables and amplifiers designed for T2. This is an invention of manufacturers, which allows them to sell ordinary products more efficiently.

In other words, when connecting “digital” you will use the most regular antenna, as is the case with analog TV. Also buy a standard amplifier and coaxial cable. All this equipment will be suitable for the new standard.

It is natural to take into account technical specifications TV antennas are still needed. For example, if you are far from the signal transmitter, then be sure to buy an active broadband model so that all channels are shown in high quality.

To achieve best result, buy a multi-directory model, position it at the maximum height and point it directly towards the TV tower. Practice confirms that long television antennas with an impressive number of crossbars show the most effective results.

    TV signal parameters

The level displays the strength of the television signal in digital format. This indicator is not determined by the user. To carry out the calculation, open the main menu of the receiver, and then use the appropriate option.

Quality is the most important indicator. To avoid all kinds of interference and failures, you will have to work hard. The resulting quality will show how suitable the TV signal is for decoding without any errors. Receiver in automatic mode will calculate the value of the parameter in question, and then display all the necessary information on the screen.

When the frequency of the required multiplex is configured, the signal level and quality will be displayed on the TV screen. To improve reception, simply rotate the antenna or change the location of the device. This is how the antenna is tuned - you just need to twist it and monitor the change in image clarity.

Natural factors, especially strong winds, significantly affect the signal quality. Therefore, if you managed to choose the optimal location for the TV antenna, try to fix the device so that in the future it does not change the direction and quality of the signal and remains at the highest possible level.

Testing television antennas shows that it is advisable to place them away from metal structures and as high as possible. How to achieve the highest quality signal reception and what mistakes should be avoided?

Of course, you first need to choose the optimal location for the antenna. Its direction must correspond to the location of the television tower. High barriers, hills, trees - all these are potential obstacles that negatively affect the quality of the signal.

If you live in a private house and have a metal roof, place the antenna as far away as possible, otherwise the signal will be constantly blocked, which will negatively affect the quality of television broadcasting.

To avoid aggravating the situation, route the cable correctly:

    • In no case should you use a cable that is more than 5-10 years old;
    • do not buy the cheapest cord that does not have braid;
    • Do not make sharp creases or shorten the purchased cable excessively;
    • no need to twist the remaining wire into a coil.

If in the future individual pieces of cable are connected with a special coaxial connector, this will still negatively affect the quality of the signal.

    The most powerful indoor antennas

Indoor antennas operate in several bands - meter or decimeter, providing signal reception at a distance of up to 30 kilometers. Of course, indoor antennas are characterized by the presence of certain limitations in the quality of television waves, therefore, to obtain a normal picture, it is necessary to carefully configure each channel.

However, indoor antennas for receiving digital television have their advantages. Firstly, compact dimensions should be highlighted. Secondly, I am pleased with the relatively low cost. The undisputed leader in the TV antenna market is the Remo company.

    Remo BAS-5310USB Horizon

If you have not yet made a choice of antenna for DVB-T2, then it’s time to pay attention to this model, because it is the one that tops our rating. The original appearance is a significant, but by no means the only advantage of the device.

Its compact size and convenient mounting allow you to place it on your TV. Provided that the setup is done correctly, it will receive waves from different channels in the range 21-69. The amplifier is built-in, which has a positive effect on the quality of the received signal.

The second device goes to a model from the popular manufacturer Harper. It is not surprising, because she has a colossal amount positive feedback from Russian consumers. Firstly, we should highlight the fact that the device picks up 87.5-862 MHz. Secondly, you can configure not only digital TV, but also analog TV.

It's hard not to notice original design, which is also important. After all, this is an indoor TV antenna, which means it will always be in sight. The amplifier is powered directly from the TV or set-top box, since it does not have a separate network adapter. Of course, this causes restrictions on the use of equipment. But the device boasts compact dimensions.

The ergonomics of the Harper ADVB-2120 are also excellent - if necessary, the TV antenna can be placed on a flat surface. The shape of the closed ring allows you to hang the device on a bracket or hook without much difficulty. Taking into account all the above technical advantages, as well as a relatively low cost, it becomes clear why this model included in the list of the best.

    Remo Inter 2.0

Third place goes to a model that has impressive functionality and at a relatively low price. Therefore, it is not surprising that this device holds its position in this segment.

The receiver is designed to connect 20 digital and 10 analog channels. An intuitive control system allows you to set the required level of signal amplification to achieve the highest possible quality.

Among the main strengths Buyers also appreciate the harmonious design and the simplest installation process. The device body is dismountable, assembly takes just a few minutes. Special attention should be paid to the power adapter cable - it has good insulation. Also, the unit wire and the TV antenna are approximately the same size, so they can be easily placed in a convenient place.
If we talk about shortcomings, there are only two of them. The quality of the plastic from which the equipment is made leaves much to be desired. The second disadvantage is problems with signal reception; it is by no means always stable.

    The most powerful outdoor antennas

Outdoor antennas for digital TV DVB-T2 have maximum power, which can be achieved through a special design. As a result, the device receives a signal even when located at a distance of up to 50 kilometers from the transmitter.

Of course, you should also take into account all sorts of obstacles that are in the path of the signal - naturally, they sometimes block television waves. Mostly experts recommend buying models with a built-in amplifier.

The TOP outdoor antennas for TVs will consist of only two models. Let's get to know them better.

    Remo "Kolibri-A-DX Deluxe"

The receiver is located on a special mast, which improves signal reception. To increase the effect, an amplifier is used, which helps to receive TV channels even at an impressive distance. The model has an extremely successful design, thanks to which it perceives signals even in those regions where the tower is not in line of sight.

You can find a huge number of positive comments on the Internet. Consumers note stable and quality reception, as well as the maximum easy setup and installation. The most powerful antenna for digital television is coated with powder paint, which provides adequate protection of the structure from corrosion.

The package includes a 6-meter cable and an amplifier power adapter. There are certain weaknesses. For example, users note that adjusting the amplifier's operating parameters is very inconvenient. The reliability of the power supply also raises questions.

    Remo "Dvina-DX"

Despite its relatively low cost, during operation it demonstrates an impressive level of signal reception. Experts note that the device can be used to receive a signal at a distance of up to 50 kilometers. To increase the quality of wave reception, the developers equipped the model with a built-in amplifier. A 12 Volt power adapter is also included in the package.

After studying consumer reviews, it becomes clear that the main advantages of the TV antenna include excellent wave reception, low price and maximum ease of operation. During the production process of the device, special attention was paid to the quality of materials. For example, the support rod is made of lightweight but very durable aluminum, and the receiving elements are powder coated to prevent premature failure of the receiver.

Powerful fasteners will ensure reliable fixation of the structure on the bracket. There are also certain disadvantages. The fact is that users experience certain difficulties during the installation process. You also have to independently upgrade the separator for maximum quality work.

    The most powerful satellite dishes

Satellite dishes are perhaps the most modern and innovative solution. Firstly, they differ in the maximum range of received signals. Secondly, they ensure quality top level. However, dishes are much more expensive than other types of antennas. Let's consider best antennas for digital TV.
