• What date will iOS 11 be released? An updated version of ARKit has been added. HEVC encoding support

Hi all. This article is global iOS review 11. In it I will go through all the innovations of the operating system regarding iOS 10. There were a decent number of them, so get ready for a lot of text and screenshots. But I tried to be concise.

Completely changed App Store: from icon to functionality and ideology. Firstly, a section with news appeared: “Today”. This section publishes “Game of the Day” and “Apps of the Day” (formerly “Editor's Choice”). Also, selection articles and interview articles with developers will be published immediately. For latest Apple special respect. The App Store clearly lacked this kind of humanity.

Secondly, separate sections for games and programs appeared. This should have been done a long time ago. Each category has its own tops and selections made by Apple moderators. For example, games about Zombies or programs relevant to the outdoors...

Thirdly, the entire store has been redesigned. The App Store has begun to visually look a lot like Apple Music in all its elements. Bold font in headings.

One cool new thing I liked is that the description now indicates the current position of the application in its category.

I also note that video from applications starts automatically. This is not very good for those who have limited traffic. This can be disabled in the settings:

Settings->iTunes Store and App Store->Autoplay videos.

    Control room

The appearance of the control center has completely changed. Now all elements again, as in iOS 9 and earlier, fit on one screen. Added on/off button cellular network: Cook heard our prayers.

If you click on any icon and hold it for a second, an additional options window opens. The funny thing is that this works on all devices, even those without 3D Touch, although visually it resembles exactly this function.

Additional options are very useful. For example, a flashlight can be set to one of four brightness levels, and a clock can be set with a timer...

This is what it looks like on the iPad Air (note that the device does not have 3D Touch):

Moreover, you can remove some options from the Control Center and add new ones.

    Settings->Control Center->Customize elements. management.

For example, you can add quick access to the voice recorder. But the most interesting thing is the “Screen Recording” option, which allows you to record video directly from the screen of your iDevice.

The video is saved to the Photos app. Previously, this was only possible with the help of jailbreak and tweaks from Cydia.

The iPhone now has a “Do not disturb the driver while driving” option. If it is enabled, then notifications will not be sent if the phone detects that a vehicle is being moved.

    Calculator

The icon has changed. The design of the application has changed. Now all the buttons are round, and the button with the number "0" represents an oval.

The Calculator application is still not added to the iPad. Therefore, use third-party applications.

    Standard Files application

It appears in the system automatically, therefore it is built into the firmware. The files are an attempt to make an inline file manager. In terms of functionality, it’s not even close to any Documents, but the change is good.

The application has a couple of sections with the device and iCloud Drive(Accordingly, the standalone iCloud Drive app has disappeared from iOS). You can also add third-party cloud applications and file managers. For example, in September they are already available in the Documents, Dropbox, Google Drive, Cloud Mail etc.

On the iPad with its multitasking, the application will become popular, because it is configured for convenient file transfer. But also on iPhone transfer Finger works great too.

    Photo and video

There's one cool change for photos and videos in iOS 11. True, it will only affect iPhone owners 7, 7 Plus, 10.5 inch iPad Pro and 12.9 inch iPad Pro (2017 model). Photos and videos will now take up 1.5-2 times less space. This is done through built-in HEIF (for photos) and HEVC (for video) encoding. With the same quality, compression of pictures and videos will become more efficient.

Previously, video recorded by the iPhone/iPad camera was compressed in H.264 format. iOS 11 uses the highly efficient H.265 (or HEVC) video compression codec. Although you can’t tell by the names of the codecs, the difference reaches 100%. That is, files recorded using H.265 are half the size of the same files recorded using H.264.

For example, on iOS 10, one minute of video in 720p quality will take up 60 megabytes. And on iOS 11 there are already 40. Video in 1080p quality (30 frames per second) on iOS 10 will be 130 megabytes, and on iOS 11 - 60 megabytes...

Three new built-in effects have appeared for Live Photos: looping videos, pendulum and long exposure... The effects are called up by swiping up on the picture.

Also, iOS 10 had 8 built-in filters for photos, and now there are 9. The names of all filters have been changed. Old filters have been improved. As Apple itself says, with them skin color will look more natural...

Standard iOS camera it became possible to scan QR codes. If you need to disable the option, then:

    Settings->Camera->Scan QR code.

    Siri

    Siri has changed visually...

And... she became wiser again. Now she can improve her voice, making it more realistic. Some advanced machine technology is used. Siri has also learned to translate in any direction between six languages:

    • English
    • Chinese
    • Spanish
    • French
    • Italian
    • German

It is promised that there will be many more languages in the future. And in general, during the June conference it was said that Siri will almost know what you want. Your own predictor of the future.

Now, if you don't want (or can't) communicate with Siri by voice, you can switch to text typing.

Settings->General-> Universal Access->Siri->Text input for Siri.

    Dock and multitasking on iPad

The iPad now has a Dock panel similar to Mac OS. The panel contains the most popular apps, which the user runs. The panel is accessible from anywhere. It is not yet clear whether it will work on all iPad models. But that's enough old iPad Air works great.

The Dock panel holds 13 icons (or folders). Another 3 appear there automatically. These are the most launched applications. This panel can be called up by swiping up from the bottom from any application.

Please note that now the icons in the Dock are without names, both on the iPad and on the iPhone:

The multitasking panel on the iPad now needs to be called up with two swipes from bottom to top. As you can see, there are 4 application windows on the screen, which, if possible, reflect what is happening in them. To completely remove the application, you need to swipe up on the program window.

    Fast screenshot editor

After taking a screenshot, it hangs in the lower left corner of the screen for several seconds. If you tap on it, the screen will open in a special editor. Here you can quickly crop a picture or draw/write something on it... For this, the editor has various tools.

    iOS dark theme

Apple developers are constantly improving accessibility features. These functions are intended mainly for people with disabilities or some problems with hearing, vision, etc. But all users can apply these settings for their tasks.

Thus, in iOS 11 appeared Dark theme registration

Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Keyboard shortcuts.

Here you need to check the box for Smart color inversion. After this, at any time you can press Home three times and the system will ask whether to enable inversion. Now the option works almost perfectly. That is, for example, desktops are displayed as is, but applications are converted to a dark color.

    Notes

At some point, Apple paid attention to its notes. And now from the copy-paste tool in the first iOS standard Notes have evolved into a powerful tool for working with...drum roll...notes.

In iOS 11, this application has been improved again. Now, tables have been added to notes (hello, Excel?) and the ability to scan documents and cut out the necessary fragments from the scans.

The program now offers the ability to select the background of new notes.

    Settings->Notes->Lines and Cells:

    Cards

Maps have been improved again and now in some countries Apple maps are a very worthy alternative. In large cities (New York, London, etc.) everything looks very detailed... There are virtual 3D tours.

Added maps of premises (for example, from them you can already understand where a restaurant is located in a shopping center). When navigating, the maps show the desired lane.

The map supplier is TomTom, which means that maps are useless for Russia.

    Optimizing free space

Shared iCloud storage for the whole family. We've waited - now one family member can buy free space, and the rest use it. But you definitely need to buy a tariff of 200 gigabytes.

Settings->General->iPad/iPhone Storage. Here are some recommendations. When the device memory is almost full, the system recommends “Download unused programs.” The program data is saved and, if installed, is picked up by the application.

If you click on the application, then in the description there is an opportunity to download it specific application. The program remains in the settings and the “Reinstall the program” button appears. The desktop icon also remains, but a cloud icon appears next to the application name. When you click on the icon, the application will begin to be installed again.

Right there in the settings, the system offers to view “Large attachments”. If you go there, you can see attachments in messages, sorted by size for easy removal and freeing up space.

    Minor changes

    Many standard applications changed icons.

The cellular signal strength icon has changed. Now it's a set of sticks different sizes. And the battery icon has an inner border.

Headings have changed in some applications. Now they look like they should - in bold. For example, the word “Settings” in the corresponding applications.

A new unlocking effect, in which the screen with the password goes up somewhere...

Messages now has a sticker panel at the bottom that expands when touched. Apparently this is a hint to use stickers more often...

The design of the sticker store has also been changed and new effects have appeared:

The program was announced at the conference Apple Pay from person to person via iMessage. I haven’t tested it - I don’t know how it works.

If you hold your finger on the keyboard on the language switching icon, you can select one-handed typing from the menu. The keyboard will move slightly to speed dial. This feature is convenient for plus versions of the iPhone.

Keyboard in iOS 11 on iPad received additional opportunity quick access to numbers, signs, etc. If you tap on the button, the main icon is printed, and if you swipe down, then the icon that is drawn on the key in a pale color.

There's a new Emergency SOS option on iPhone in Settings for quick access to relevant information stored in the Health app.

Removed from iOS settings 11 points related to the integration of social networks into the system - Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo, etc. Apparently the contracts have come to an end.

There is a cool ability to drag and drop multiple icons on desktops. This allows you to quickly restore order. The algorithm is simple:

    • Press and hold the icon and wait until delete crosses appear on all icons.
    • Pull the icon to the side until the cross disappears on it.
    • Click on all the icons you want to transfer. They will stick to the first icon and the sticker will show how many applications you are transferring.
    • Release at the desired location on any screen or folder. The icons will spread out on their own.

Settings->Accounts and passwords->Passwords for programs and sites. A new item in the settings that allows you to view the contents of the keychain.

Settings->Notifications->Display with banners. A new option that allows you to make banners either temporary (as before) or permanent. Persistent banners will remain on the screen until you force close them or respond to them. This is very important for the messaging program.

The player in Safari has been updated. I won’t say whether it’s gotten worse or better, but from experience it’s still more buggy than the previous one. Well, it was clearly not made for the convenience of users. For example, the scrollbar should be full screen, not 60%...

The photo can be turned into a custom watch face if you have Apple Watch any series.

Settings->General->Turn off. The device can be turned off directly from the settings.

32-bit applications stopped working completely. The developers were aware and whoever wanted it updated or will update them in the next three months.

    Answers to questions

When will iOS 11 be released?

The beta version of iOS 11 for developers has already arrived! Anyone can install it according to my instructions. The final version of iOS 11 will be released very soon. The update is, as always, free.

Is it possible to downgrade iOS 11 to iOS 10, 9, 8, etc.?

Rollback will be possible until the latest final iOS versions 10! Rollback will be impossible only after exit final version iOS 11 plus 1-2 weeks.

What devices will iOS 11 support?

Almost the same ones that supported iOS 10 (from iPhone 5s, iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPod 6Gen and later). The updated iPad Pro will be added to them.

The iPad 4 and iPhone 5 turned out to be detached. They will remain on the latest version of iOS 10.

Note: The sign says iPad 5th generation. This is what Apple called the iPad 9.7, which was recently released.

On Thursday, March 29, the Cupertino team released another major update for iOS, which has been tested since January 2018. Today iOS 11.3 is available to everyone. What's new?

    Added updated version of ARKit

As expected, iOS 11.3 received support for an improved version of ARKit 1.5. For those unfamiliar, ARKit is a framework that allows developers to create augmented reality applications for the iPhone and iPad ().

The new version of the framework has “learned” to better recognize the environment and can now place objects not only on horizontal, but also on vertical surfaces. This allows developers to “hang” interactive content, for example, on the walls of museums. Additionally, ARKit 1.5 allows apps to more accurately recognize unusually shaped surfaces, and also supports 1080p resolution ( previous version supported 720p) and auto focus.

    iPhone slowdown feature disabled

According to Apple's recent admission, rumors that the company was deliberately . It's all about the outdated battery, and to solve the problem you just need to replace it. The Cupertino team publicly apologized to users and promised to reduce battery prices for all victims.

    Added Messages to iCloud feature

During the presentation of iOS 11 at the Apple developer conference WWDC last summer, one of the key innovations was named "Messages in iCloud". However, until now it was missing from the operating system. More precisely, it was in the very first beta versions, but it never managed to get into the final build. Now, it seems, Apple has finally decided to keep its word.

In iOS 11.3, the long-awaited feature can be enabled along the way Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → “Messages”.

With its help, photos and other files attached to messages will be automatically saved to the cloud. This way you can free up precious space on your iPhone and iPad (), which, as you know, is always in short supply. Plus, all messages will be synced across your devices. When on two-factor authentication function "Messages in iCloud" is activated automatically.

    Innovations in the interface

In iOS 11.3, the animation when opening applications has been accelerated, and the animation in the application switching menu has become lightning fast.

Added new Animoji for iPhone X

If the animated faces available in iPhone X weren’t enough for you, we hasten to please you – four more Animoji have appeared in iOS 11.3. Now, in addition to the previous twelve animated characters, iPhone X owners can also take advantage of the image of a dragon, skull, bear and lion.

When an iPhone X user will install paid application from the App Store or pay for something via Apple Pay, iOS 11.3 will display a notification asking you to confirm the transaction by double-clicking the side button.

    Added HomeKit software check

IN new version Apple OS now supports HomeKit software authentication. App developers will now be able to add HomeKit support to many smart home devices.

    Changes to Game Center

With the release of iOS 11.3, you can now manage your friends list in Game Center. More precisely, from now on you can delete individual friends, and not all at once, as before.

    How to install iOS 11.3

The iOS 11.3 update is traditionally available in iPhone Settings and iPad along the way BasicSoftware update. In addition, you can install the firmware via iTunes app on your computer, having previously downloaded the IPSW update file in our special section ().

When will iOS 11.3 be released? Who will tell us?

Finally, Tim Cook spoke. This moment has come; numerous complaints and lawsuits against Apple forced the company to make concessions. General manager The company finally revealed in an interview plans to fix bugs related to slowing down the iPhone. It will be the most important iOS update this year...

In an interview with ABC, Cook said Apple would compromise and do something that "hasn't been done before." He explained that starting with next month's beta (iOS 11.3): “We're going to give people the ability to see the health of their battery. So it will be very, very transparent.”

Users will be able to choose what is important to them at the moment: performance or stability. By turning off automatic performance reduction, the processor speed will increase by 25-30%, but the iPhone will turn off at extreme conditions(Cold, heat, strong long-term stress).

Tim: buy it new iPhone, Please.

You can also turn the feature on and off at your convenience. For example, you are playing Injastis 2 at home, but the game is slowing down, turn off the processor blocker, and turn it on when you go outside in cold weather.

What would it roughly look like (I would like)

Cook is right, this is unprecedented. No other phone maker provides detailed health data for its smartphones. And Apple has certainly never given users anything like this level of control over their iPhone performance and stability.

For those asking, when will iOS 11.3 be released? Cook didn't say it explicitly, but he hinted at introducing this feature in iOS 11.3 (since iOS 11.2.5 already has ). According to him, first there will be a version for developers, which was released in February, the final version was released on March 29.

This is good news. But this is not enough - and here's why...

Why do batteries start to deteriorate so quickly?

The company blames natural degradation on lithium-ion batteries, regardless of why rivals say such measures are unnecessary. Samsung has confirmed that its batteries can retain 95% power for at least two years.

Apple also didn't explain why the first six iPhone generations were not affected (even original iPhone 2007 had lithium ion battery 1400 mAh capacity) or why stability "protective" measures were not required in the first nine generations of iOS (the slowdown began with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S in iOS 10.2.1, released in January 2017).

Apple has released it to the public, what's new?

Apple is not transparent at all!

Let's be honest, because all of Tim Cook's statements about transparency are lies. The only reason Apple is doing this is because it got caught. Additionally, speaking to ABC, Cook appears to be rewriting history:

"When Apple released iOS 10.2.1, we did say there was a (slowdown), but I don't think many people paid attention to it."

I asked Apple's press office to help me with this issue since I don't understand what Cook is saying (I'll update the post if I get a response). But I paid attention to iOS releases, and in 10.2.1 there was nothing about battery slowdown or anything like that.

Here's the description for the iOS 10.2.1 update: "iOS 10.2.1 includes bug fixes and improved security for your device."

Less than a year after Apple released iOS 11.2 in December 2017, the update added a potential performance slowdown for the iPhone 7. The release said: “iOS 11.2 arrives new feature Apple Pay Cash to send and receive money from friends and family with Apple Pay. This update also includes bug fixes and improvements."

Yes, Tim, where is it clearer? Perhaps Cook is an alien and on his home planet this means: “bug fixes and improvements”, which means “we have reduced processor performance by 30% to protect against unexpected shutdowns” and everything is clear to him, but not to people.

How did Apple increase iPhone sales?

Despite Cook's dubious statements and primitive explanations. Apple hasn't openly told users since iOS release 10.2.1 that iPhone performance is degraded, speakers may be acting up and camera flash may not work, and a $79 battery can fix that.

Without this knowledge, how many users have mistakenly spent over $700 on a new iPhone? It's impossible to know for sure, but one analyst estimates that iPhone sales will fall by 3 times in 6 months in 2018, as a result of the fact that owners, instead of buying a new one, will replace their batteries.

Many who bought an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus or iPhone X last year switched from the 6 and 6s to the new models because the old ones were slow. Users did not know that all they needed to do was replace the battery.

Meanwhile, government investigations continue in the US, France, Italy, China, Brazil and Korea, with 32 lawsuits (at the time of publication) from 17 US states pushing for Right to Repair legislation.

So iOS 11.3 is indeed a big update. Obviously it's big for iPhone owners, but it's equally big for Apple because it's done right. Analyzing Apple, it becomes clear that after the death of the founder's father (Steve Jobs), the company began to stagnate (stagnation of innovation), but what do you think about this?

Apple has released the first iOS 11.3 beta update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch for developers.

This new beta is only available to participating developers Apple testing. Although latest version iOS contained mostly bug fixes, it looks like iOS 11.3 beta 1 will contain new features.

iOS 11.3 beta 1 update includes new characters Animoji, best tools ARKit, new business chat and iCloud messages. The beta also includes information about changes to battery monitoring that the company plans to introduce in the spring. It is also noteworthy that battery health functionality will appear later with the release of the next beta version of iOS 11.3.

    New features in iOS 11.3

Latest update Apple iOS 11.3 beta 1 for developers, brings many new features and improvements. While this is only the first of many likely betas to come before iOS 11.3 releases this spring, it does offer a glimpse of the future.

    iOS 11.3 ARKit

Apple wants to boost ARKit development with a number of powerful new features with the new version of ARKit 1.5 and iOS 11.3 currently in beta. ARKit 1.5 will enable users to place AR virtual objects on vertical surfaces in addition to horizontal ones.

This suggests that applications built on the platform will be able to see posters, graphics and other identifiers posted there on the walls. And 2D and 3D images of reality will be superimposed on top of them. This will be useful when visiting museum excursions, better navigation in the city. ARKit will better read information from surrounding objects, buildings, facades and other things.

Apple's animated emoji were a major feature for the iPhone X, not least because they demonstrated how the TrueDepth camera could seamlessly track facial movements in real time.

iOS 11.3 brings four new Animoji characters to the iPhone X, including a lion, a bear, a dragon and a skull. New characters will also be added to iCloud Messages. Each of the characters will be able to track and repeat more than 50 different movements of the user's facial muscles.

iOS 11.3 business chat in messages

In iOS 11.3, Apple added a new communication format with the Business Chat feature. The function is aimed primarily at organizations that will be able to communicate directly with their customers. The feature will initially be available in the US market.

Apple has already agreed with brands such as Lowe’s, Discover and Hilton, who will be the first to try out the business chat with the update iOS 11.3 beta 1. Users will be able to communicate with brand representatives, make purchases and much more. All this can be done from your iPhone.

    iOS 11.3 Health

Application Apple Health , get a major update with the release of iOS 11.3. The Health app will now be able to integrate user health records from medical institutions and various accessories. It is likely that Appe Watch will be among the first sources where data will be collected.

iOS 11.3 with new Apple feature Health with collection of user medical data

iOS 11.3 will also allow users to view an expanded selection of their medical records through own application Apple iOS Health. Patients will be able to access their encrypted and password-protected medical files from Apple Health Services. Naturally, the first tests will take place at American latitudes.

iOS 11.3 lets you adjust your battery level

Apple came under heavy criticism when the company admitted to deliberately slowing down older iPhones with older batteries. The company said it has decided to reduce iPhone performance so that users of older iPhone models stopped experiencing unexpected shutdowns or reboots of their devices. The only way to get old iPhones back to full performance is to replace the old batteries with new ones.

iOS 11.3 lets you adjust your battery level

In this update, the company added a separate menu for tracking the device's battery life. A toggle in Battery Settings will disable the previously enabled power management feature. Users can disable the power management feature that slows down older iPhones. This new feature is located under Settings > Battery.

    iOS 11.3 other features

Apple Music on iOS 11.3 added support for music videos. Apple Music subscribers will be able to stream and watch all music video content without commercials. Apple Music has also added a playlist for music videos.

Apple News has also improved in iOS 11.3. Videos of the day will be grouped in the “For You” section of the application. Identification software HomeKit has also been improved in iOS 11.3, allowing developers to add HomeKit support to existing accessories.

iOS 11.3 Release Date and Compatibility

The new version of the operating system with update 11.3 has just arrived for developers. We have several weeks of testing ahead and at least seven more versions of the update, as was the case with version 11.2.5. According to the company, in the spring all users will receive the official version.

Preview version for iOS developers 11.3 is available now. The iOS 11.3 update will be available for free and will be compatible with iPhone 5 and later. Same everything iPad models 5th generation, iPad Pro and iPad Air, iPad mini 2 and earlier and sixth generation iPod touch.

We don't have long to wait for the next presentation from Apple, which will show all the delights of the new iPad, versions of iOS, and Apple Watch. But the rumors around Cupertino do not continue to subside for a minute, and hundreds of thousands of different photographs, press releases, reviews of possible features and product innovations appear on the Internet.

We have collected for you the most interesting features of the operating room iOS systems 11 that are currently known, and described the advantages of each of them. If you are an ardent fan of Apple products, this material will undoubtedly inspire you.

There is no stable version of iOS 11 yet, as it will be presented at the presentation and available for download on the same days, but before that time Beta versions are released, both for developers and for users, which have their own shortcomings and bugs. All this is “polished” and finalized for the presentation, new functions are constantly being introduced.

    Control Center

Perhaps this is the main innovation of the year, which is expected by tens of millions of users around the world. The control center has changed a lot, and, fortunately, for the better. The lower curtain will now be a single screen on which all kinds of icons and switches are located. Moreover, there are a lot of different points collected here from where you can control your smartphone without going into the settings.

For example, look at the cellular network icon in the top tile, which allows you to turn the Internet on or off with one click. But before, we had to constantly go into the settings of our smartphone and from there go to cellular communication to turn off cellular data. And why didn't the Apple developers think of this before? Here you can turn on modem mode, quickly activate Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, and even AirDrop.

But that's not all. In addition to quick access, tiles also have an advanced mode. For example, at the volume, player, wireless connections, brightness. If you tap on a tile and hold your finger down for a few seconds, an additional pop-up block will appear where you can access additional options. You can exit this mode with one click on the tile. Very convenient!

It was added here new mode Do Not Disturb for users who are driving. After activating this mode, the system will automatically recognize driving and turn off notifications and sounds so that the driver is not distracted.

Another good thing is the new screen recording mode, where all your actions will be recorded in full. Voice recording is also possible, activated by a separate click on the icon. The only downside is that the finished video will show a timer bar throughout the entire process. This feature will greatly help users who previously literally explained to their friends or relatives how, for example, to set up a particular menu item or enter a program. Now all you have to do is send a video with instructions that will clearly demonstrate the whole process. You can record not only actions in the system itself, but also gameplay in games, for example. This greatly expands the capabilities of gamers who review various new products on YouTube.

And the last thing I want to mention is the ability to customize the control center through settings. You can choose which buttons and icons to leave in the center and which to remove. Most likely, in the future it will be possible to add individual icons from third-party application developers there, so that each user will be able to customize the interface for themselves.

Small, but significant change has been added to the Dock (bottom 4 tabs on iPhone). They no longer have signatures at the bottom. This is logical. After all, users themselves choose what to install here; accordingly, they most often work with these applications and recognize them by their icons, not their names.

Now any application that you move to the Dock will automatically remove its signature at the bottom.

In the upper left corner of your device, the connection quality is now displayed not in circles, but in sticks, as on most smartphones. On the right side, the GPS icon is constantly active, which may appear as an outline or become opaque depending on the actions of the programs.

    Keyboard

Significant changes have been made to the keyboard. If previously you had to support typing with both hands so as not to drop your smartphone, now typing can be done with one hand, which is very convenient.

    Screenshots

The option to create screenshots in iOS has been around for a long time, but by default they all ended up in the photo gallery, and from there the user could send them to social networks or open the editor and edit them. Apple revised the concept and added its own editor for screenshots.

Now, having created a screen, you can edit it by clicking on the preview in the lower left corner. You will have a full-fledged editor in which you can enlarge any element in the picture with a magnifying glass, add signatures using different fonts to choose from, change the color, background, add arrows of different lengths and types, for example, to focus attention on a specific object.

This approach greatly simplifies working with a smartphone without forcing the user to download third-party programs. I took a screenshot, edited it quickly and saved it, and then sent it to social networks or by email.

Scanners for QR in Apple Store only spread as third party applications, but now in a new version iOS users The built-in scanner will be available, which is active by default. It is enough to bring the camera to the code, and it automatically reads it. A small banner will appear at the top of your screen with the information that has been encoded in the code. If you do not need this option, you can disable it in the camera settings.

The only difference between a standard QR scanner and third party programs is that the developers individual applications offer more advanced functionality (saving history, creating notes, creating your own codes, sending to friends, etc.).

    Files app

If earlier iCloud service was just a cloud storage, now it is a full-fledged cloud file manager where you can view your files, edit them, create new ones, assign tags, change parameters. There is a built-in search among files, which is very convenient for those users who store a lot of information in different types of files.

Files can be accessed either from cloud storage, and from your device. But keep in mind that the “closed system” also remains an important advantage for Apple, so please watch system files Don't count on how it's available on Android.

You will also be able to save files, for example, from the browser and open them in this application. A very convenient option that allows you to expand the potential of iOS significantly and perform some of the work on your device.

A separate feature of Apple, for which you can already fall in love with the new version of the system. You can use your camera to scan any document, book, brochure, picture, edit it as you need, crop it, zoom in or out. The built-in set of tools is pleasing and provides a truly wide range of applications. By the time of the announcement, most likely, tens of thousands of “scanner” applications will lose their relevance.

    Creating PDFs

Not very popular, but quite a serious option in a narrow circle. Now you can save any page on the Internet as a separate PDF file, so that you can later view it offline. Together with the “Files” application, this is doubly more interesting and convenient.

    iMessage Service Innovations

In the new version of iOS 11, all users are given greater access to emoticons, applications, and stickers used in iMessage. You simply swipe and select the app you want from the pop-up panel. It is also possible to send payments via iMessage between users. That is, you will be able to send money using the messenger. All received cash are stored on special card— Apple Pay Cash, however, strangely enough, it is not displayed in the Wallet service. But it can be used, for example, for purchases in a store or for transfers to bank accounts.

The only negative at the moment is that this option is only available for the US, but it is planned for other countries in the future. Transfers are made without commission, but you will have to pay 3% of the amount to withdraw funds. The option is only available for iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and higher.

    Saving messages to iCloud

You can activate the option to save all SMS to cloud service to release extra space on a smartphone. Moreover, the system will automatically save data from all devices where you logged in with your account.

    Telephone

A minor but very convenient innovation. The delete characters button is now located at the bottom (previously it was at the top).

A transition was made to new formats for photographs and videos. These are HEIF and HEIC. Compression in them is carried out several times more progressively, due to which the volume of files is reduced by 2 times, without losing the quality of the materials. But what about earlier versions, you ask? When transferring new formats to old devices, they are automatically converted and will be played correctly, without repeating the situation of Live Photos.

iOS 11 also introduces several new filters that are professional grade. For portrait mode Apple shooting has significantly improved image quality and added stabilization support. Low color rendering has been improved significantly.

A face synchronization option has been added, thanks to which you can only inform your smartphone once about a certain person in the photo, after which the system automatically synchronizes the data with all devices. They also added an “Animated” album, where you can easily play GIFs.

    Apple Store

To improve the search quality, the store has been completely redesigned. Home page is now immediately divided into 2 sections: games and applications. After moving to one of the categories, you will see a large list of collections and sections.

We added a separate “Today” tab, where editors will display lists every day best games and applications. Some applications will be displayed with tips, some games may appear along with reviews and gameplay from store employees. As a result, the service turns into a full-fledged portal where you can not only download a product, but also get comprehensive and reliable information about it.

    Siri

In the new version of iOS in Siri assistant More realistic voices (female and male) were added, the sound and pronunciation of which are much better than previous versions. Your voice assistant will learn on its own, but for this you no longer have to allow your data to be sent and processed to servers. It learns on your device. Thanks to this option, Siri will learn more about your tastes, preferences, and will be able to offer correct solutions to problems or preferences.

All information is scanned and synchronized between devices where you logged in under the same ID. Now, whether it's an iPhone or an iPad, when you log in to your account, Siri will already know all your preferences.

Added the ability to form taste preferences based on the analysis of your songs in the device. While listening, you can ask questions to the voice assistant, for example, “Who is the author of this song” or “Who is the lead singer in the group”? But keep in mind that all this is available mainly for the USA, because... Russian language has a small set of Siri options.

Virtual reality has also reached Apple, thanks to which AR Kit technology is actively developing, which allows you to add 3D objects using a camera and see how they will fit into the overall design or how they generally look. The technology has a wide range of applications. Let's say you can see what a car will look like on your lawn, how it looks in the garage. No, not that?

Then perhaps you are into design and have decided to decorate your living room. Using this technology, it will be possible to arrange furniture, hang pictures, and lay carpets. In general, everything is like in the Sims simulator, only much cooler and more realistic. This option has not yet been officially presented, but most likely it will be in iOS 11, as developers are actively preparing applications for the September presentation.

    Notes

A lot of innovations have appeared in notes, and from an ordinary notepad the application has turned into a conveyor different types information, which, by the way, can be edited here. For example, you can scan documents, add a signature to them, create new document with fields, tables, pictures, full formatting, quickly add photos or videos. In general, you will get a full-fledged diary in which you can record any type of information and store it in an easy-to-read form.

    Changes for AirPods

You can assign additional actions to your AirPods in your device's Bluetooth settings. Previously user could only choose two actions: launch the voice assistant or play (pause). Now you also have access to transitions to the previous or next track. Moreover, you can assign commands for both the right earphone and the left. It is possible for both at once.

    iPhone storage

A separate setting in your iPhone, where complete information about free and used memory is displayed. The section has been significantly redesigned in the new version of the system and provides additional options for users. For example, the system will automatically give you recommendations on how to free up memory.

There is also an option to semi-delete (the name is not yet known) applications. You can delete an application or game that takes up a lot of space, but at the same time leave in the phone memory all the data that was saved in this application. Once you download it again, your entire progress will be restored.

    Quick setup

On your new device with iOS 11, you can quickly configure all the settings that were on your old smartphone or tablet. It is enough to bring the new iPhone close to the old one, after which the system will automatically establish a connection and transfer personal settings and passwords from iCloud.

    Safari

Added in the new browser version new system to synchronize all bookmarks with reading lists. According to the developers, it has significantly improved its speed and security when working with pages.

Another important innovation is the “Advanced” section, in which you can configure page display options on any site (CSS, WebGL, etc.).

    Emergency S.O.S.

A separate item in the settings where you can save important contacts For emergency calls. Very useful, for example, for older people who can call pre-specified numbers with one click.

    Apple Music

If you are a fan of VKontakte music, then you will like the option. Now in Apple service Music, you will be able to view your friends' popular tracks if they have not hidden this option in their account settings.

    Quick grouping of applications

On iPhone desktops, you can create folders where the user puts applications, but in more earlier versions Each time I had to flip through the tables and drag icons from one place to another one by one.

Now you can click on one icon and use another finger to drop other applications into this icon. As soon as you release your finger, the system will create a new folder with all programs and games. As a result, the creation of folders comes down to seconds.

What's New in iOS 11 for iPad

For the iPad, some specific changes were also added that significantly affected the operation of the system.

And the first feature is the extended Dock panel. At the bottom of the screen you can place a lot more apps than in earlier versions. As a result, your iPad will look a lot like a Mac. There is also a separate block that displays three latest apps with whom you have worked.

    Drag and Drop Option

You can transfer files, applications from one program to another. For example, from photos to notes. It is also possible to transfer individual text fragments. If you copy text to “Files”, the system will automatically create an RTF file for it and save the contents.

    Multitasking mode

From the Dock, you can launch an additional application. If you open it in Split View mode, it will be displayed with the current window on the screen, and if in Slide Over, then the second window can be moved to the left side of the screen. As a result, up to four programs can be opened simultaneously on the screen of your device.
