• Is it possible to connect the tablet to the Internet? Wired Internet connection to the tablet

Without the Internet can perform quite limited functions. And the issue of connecting it to the network is always acute. How to do it quickly and without special costs we will talk in our article.

Methods for connecting your tablet to the Internet

You can connect in several ways: using a Wi-Fi router, a built-in 3G modem and SIM card, an external 3G modem or a USB cable. Let's talk about each of them in more detail:

    1. Connection via Wi-Fi router- the simplest way. To use it, you first need to make sure that Airplane mode is turned off on your tablet. Next, open the tablet settings and turn on the module, go to the settings section and select your wi-fi network from the list of available connections. All you have to do is enter your username and password, and welcome to the Internet.
    2. Many people are interested in how connect internet on tablet via SIM, since there is not always access to a Wi-Fi network. To make your tablet completely mobile, you can use the built-in 3G modem.
      1. You just need to get a SIM card and insert it into a special compartment on the tablet (on one of the side faces).
      2. When the SIM card is inside the tablet, turn on the “Mobile Data” (“Data Transfer”) function. This is done in the same way as on a smartphone.
      3. In most cases, this is enough for the Internet to work. But if you're having trouble connecting, you probably need to edit your access point's APN settings.
      4. Open settings and go to “More” - subsection “ Mobile network».
      5. In the pop-up window, select “Access point (APN)”. All you have to do is press the button with 3 dots and select “New access point”.
    3. How connect the internet to your tablet via a modem:
      1. If your tablet does not have a built-in 3G modem, you will need to purchase one. A regular modem is suitable, which we use to connect laptops and desktop computers. It is a little more difficult to connect a tablet with such a modem to the network.
      2. First of all, switch the 3G modem to “Modem only” mode. To do this, you need to install the 3GSW program on your PC, connect the modem to the PC and, opening the program, activate the “Modem only” mode.
      3. Only after this do we connect the 3G modem to the tablet using USB-OTG cable and install the PPP Widget application on your tablet. It is necessary for further setting up the connection to the mobile network, because without a built-in modem the tablet is not equipped with the necessary software. IN open program you need to enter data about the access point, login and password. You can find out all this data from your mobile operator.

Is it possible to connect cable Internet to a tablet?

There is nothing impossible about this. How to connect wired Internet to a tablet? This method is used quite rarely, because a tablet is, after all, mobile device, and its connection with a cable reduces portability. But sometimes such a need still arises.

What you need to connect your tablet to the Internet: you need to purchase a USB network card based on the RD9700 chip, which is essentially an adapter between USB and RJ-45. If the tablet does not even have a USB connector, then you will need another adapter - OTG. As for drivers and other software, most tablet models already have everything you need installed, so you’re unlikely to need to download and install anything.

Insert the card into the tablet and connect to the network switch. If nothing happens after that, continue to follow the instructions on how to connect your tablet to the Internet.

If you use free program“Net Status”, then in the Netcfg tab you will see a line with the specified interface eth0. This is our network card, only it has no values assigned network settings. This is due to the fact that your device’s network connection is designed to use DHCP technology, and you cannot change anything yourself.

In this case, you need to start a DHCP server on your PC and fix all the problems. Then the equipment should begin to function without failures.

Tablet computers, which are becoming increasingly popular among portable portable computers computer devices, are primarily created by development companies to satisfy the user's need for web surfing. Naturally, in addition to this they have a large number capabilities, are able to provide a variety of opportunities to their owners in the field of games and entertainment, and can perform the functions of many other mobile gadgets, such as phones, navigators, media players. But, nevertheless, the first question that arises for new owners of tablet devices is: how to connect the tablet to the Internet?

There are several ways to accomplish this task. Their choice depends, first of all, on the tablet model, its technical characteristics, as well as from the operating system on which this gadget is based. And not the least role in this matter is played by the telecom operator chosen by the owner of the device.

    Internet access on a tablet

    Connection options

    Wi-Fi connection

Perhaps any more or less decent model is equipped with a wireless communication method such as Wi-Fi. Even the most inexpensive Chinese options have such a built-in module. Undoubtedly, this makes it the most popular way to surf the web.

Owners of devices based on Android OS can connect their tablet to an existing Wi-Fi networks. Their actions will depend on the version of the operating system that supports their device. If it is Android 4.0 and higher, then immediately in the settings you need to select the first Wi-Fi item and turn it on. If it is Android 3.0, then you need to go to the settings section wireless connections, and then turn on Wi-Fi.

    Setting up a wireless network

After activation Wi-Fi device will offer a list consisting of the names of all wireless networks it finds. The user just needs to choose one for which he knows the password, or a network with open access. Next, a dialog box will appear in which you must enter the password for the selected network.

    Entering the network password

After all these manipulations, the tablet will be able to connect to the network. If this process was successful, an antenna icon should appear next to the clock.

The next time you connect to the network, the user will no longer need to enter the password, since the Android OS remembers it automatically.

    Possible connection problems

Quite often, when a user wants to connect a tablet to the Internet via Wi-Fi, he encounters the following problem: the phrase “Obtaining an IP address.” This doesn't go any further, so the owner needs to know possible ways solutions to this problem:

    • Changing the Wi-Fi network name to English;
    • Enable DHCP server;
    • Changing the Wi-Fi network encryption type;
    • Registering the IP address and DNS server manually in the connection settings.

Changing the Wi-Fi network encryption type

It is also important to make sure that the user is not blocked by MAC address. If it is present, you just need to add the MAC address in the modem settings to the list of exceptions.

    Internet via mobile operator

Another common option for connecting a tablet to the Internet is the following method. It is also quite easy to use. It is based on the same principle as when working with mobile phones. A SIM card is inserted into the gadget into the corresponding slot. Next, turn on the tablet, and select “Data transfer” in the settings. Many telecom operators immediately send an SMS message with Internet settings. But, in addition to this, all these instructions can be read on the official websites of telecom operators, which is recommended, since the official resources contain the most current data; in our article, the data may be out of date.

Almost all of them look the same - you need to register an access point. For example, it can be done like this:

    APN (access point): internet.life.com.by.

For Android 4.0 and higher you need to go to Settings- Wireless networks-More. There, select “Mobile network”, then “Access points (APN)” and here you can set a new point with operator parameters.

    Setting up an access point

    Connection via 3G modem

In this method, the user must keep in mind that not all 3G modems can be connected to tablet devices. This point follows from some design features of modems. At the same time, not all gadgets may have USB ports or MicroUSB ports for organizing this type of connection.

It is important to know that if the tablet device has a MicroUSB port, the user will need an OTG cable to connect to the network.

If all conditions are met, the user first connects the modem to the computer. At this step, all drivers and applications are installed. Next in options mobile client On your PC you need to disable PIN code verification.

    Disable PIN code

Then you need to switch the modem to the “Modem only” mode. If this is not done, the tablet will recognize the modem as a flash card and nothing more.

    Changing the modem operating mode

Next, go to the tablet’s network settings by checking the box next to “Data transfer” and “3G”. Next, you need to insert the modem into the tablet and wait a bit, while the modem should blink. Then you need to click “Points” APN access" Created here new point and enter data for Internet access. After this, you need to save all changes. You can verify that a new point has been created by determining its activity, and it is indicated in green.

    Mobile operator settings window

    Connection via cable

To provide Internet on the tablet, you will need a USB cable from the device and the Android SDK program. It is a very easy to use emulator designed for mobile devices. Android platforms. With its help, access to the system part of the firmware is provided for its subsequent modification, and the owner can obtain root rights.

    Window Android programs SDK

After downloading the program, the user must complete a number of steps:

    • Install the Android SDK program on your computer;
    • Allow it to share the network with other devices (in the Control Panel, select “Network and Internet”, then “Network and Sharing Center”, then “Manage” network connections", in the window that appears, select "Internet Connection", right-click on it, and open the connection properties, go to the " Sharing" and check the box "Allow other network users to use this computer's Internet connection");
    • To prepare the tablet itself for connection, in its settings you need to select the “For Developers” section and activate the “USB Debugging” mode (to do this, check the box next to it);
    • Connect both devices with a USB cable.

It is important to know that if Windows prompts you to install drivers, you need to agree to this and wait for them to install.

    • Restart the computer and connect the tablet via USB again;
    • Next, you need to find the AndroidTool.exe application in the list of available files and run it.

    Android Reverse Tethering window

Here, to activate the search for connected devices, you must press button 1 “Refresh”. Then, when the search is complete, the tablet device ID will appear in the “Select a device” section. Next in the “Select DNS to use” list you need to select the second DNS address on top and press button 3 “Connect”. If successful, the user will find the words “Connection Done” at the end of the text, and his computer will begin distributing the Internet via the USB cable.

It's important to know that this method Requires root access in the model connected to the computer.

    Ethernet connection

This method is quite unusual, and is used if the user needs the most fast internet on a tablet gadget. To implement this option you will need a USB-RJ45 adapter

    Ethernet cable

    Installing root rights

To install the above program, root rights are required. Download and install the Ginger break program on the tablet, launch it, and in the main window click “Root device”.

Video instructions for connecting to the Internet

    31 January 2015 15:31

Most often, a tablet is used to access the Internet. Sit in social networks, watch videos, read your favorite sites, exchange a few letters with a friend, or call a person on the other side of the world via Skype and see his face with your own eyes right on the screen absolutely free of charge. Of course, all this allows you to do and modern phone, but the phone has a smaller screen diagonal and still surfing the Internet on a tablet is much more convenient. Most likely, tablets were invented precisely for this purpose, to make Internet surfing convenient and comfortable.

On some boxes for tablets, especially Chinese ones, it says MID - Mobile Internet Device. Absolutely correct name. We have already listed what you can do on your tablet, but we forgot about playing games online with friends.

How to connect to the Internet

In principle, it’s clear why you need a tablet and what you can do on the Internet on it. But not everyone knows how to connect the Internet to a tablet. Having extensive experience communicating with people who are just planning to buy a tablet, we decided to make a review where we describe all the ways to connect to the Internet.

Do you want to organize an unforgettable vacation for yourself? All travel services are combined in one project “Svyaznoy Travel”. Here you can easily find out the cost of air tickets based on selected parameters, get insurance, find a hotel, order a taxi or rent a car, or even select a suitable tour.

    Free wifi hotspot

All tablets have wifi, even the cheapest ones. Therefore, the easiest way is to connect to a wifi access point. These access points are free in cafes, restaurants, train stations, etc.

    Via wifi router

If you have internet at home, you can connect wifi router. If your Internet goes through your phone, then purchase it for this case router + DSL modem in one device. A telephone cable is connected to it and it supplies wifi signal. All devices that support a wifi signal can connect to such a router and can immediately access the Internet. Wifi router is the most the right way organizing a home wireless network and the only one. All your devices that can access the Internet via wifi (phones, tablets, laptops) immediately end up on the Internet. A Wifi router costs from 500 rubles. On one side the cable is connected from wired internet(or telephone cable), on the other side - an antenna. To set up your router, contact a specialist. By the way, these are the routers that create access points in cafes, restaurants, etc.

    Via Android phone

Another way is to do wifi point access from almost any Android phone. The phone receives an Internet signal via 3G and distributes it via wifi. You can connect several devices to your phone at once. Go to phone settings, wireless networks, modem mode, dot wifi access. Click and wait a few seconds for connection. The connection has been created, you can also change the access password. You also need to enable data transfer here.

    Via 3G wifi router

There is a specialized device - a 3G wifi router. Just like a telephone, it receives the Internet via a 3G network and distributes it via wifi. You need to buy a SIM card for it in order to pay a certain mobile operator for communication and have access to a 3G network.

If the tablet has a built-in 3G modem

Another option is a tablet with Internet access via 3G (there are tablets into which a SIM card is inserted and used as in regular phone. That is, you need to top up your operator card account cellular communication). This method will be convenient for those who travel a lot and do not sit at home. You carry a tablet with 3G with you and it will always keep you in touch. Just insert a SIM card and the tablet automatically connects to the Internet. You don’t need to configure anything, the Internet connection icon just appears in the corner of the screen. The only thing you may need to do is press the “Enable data transfer” button on the screen if the tablet asks for it. This method, as we have already said, is convenient, but not always (imagine yourself in a country house where the connection is good only on the roof of the house). The already described 3G wifi router will come to the rescue here. You insert a SIM card and a battery into it, leave it on the roof where the signal is received, and it distributes wifi Internet throughout the area.

    Via bluetooth

If you have an old phone that has blue-tooth (and your tablet has blue-tooth), then you can have this phone receive the signal via GSM (very expensive) or through cellular operators and transmit the signal via blue-tooth to the tablet.

    Connection step by step:

    • The phone must support dialup net technology.
    • We insert a SIM card into the phone and turn on blue-tooth on it.
    • Next, we need to install an application on the tablet that would connect us to the network. There are a lot of these applications on the Internet, but not all of them work.

Via a separate USB 3G modem

You buy a USB 3G modem and a SIM card, pay your mobile operator and connect the modem to the tablet via an OTG cable. Of course, it will be inconvenient to carry a tablet with a dangling modem on the cable (this is why tablets with a built-in 3G modem were invented, which we discussed above). This method will work with one caveat: if the drivers for this USB 3G modem are installed on the tablet. The modem may be locked, but it must be switched to “modem only” mode. This is done simply - launch a hyper-terminal on your computer, connect to the modem and enter just one command (the specific command for your modem can be found on the Internet). The procedure is reversible, so the modem can then be returned to its initial state. Connect the modem via otg cable and access the Internet automatically, additional settings not required.

    Internet access via internet cable

If you have internet at home, you can buy USB network a card (similar to an adapter, roughly speaking) and an otg cable for connecting to the tablet. Connect it to the tablet, and on the other side connect the Internet cable (there is this connector there). That's it - you're on the Internet. If the router is configured (automatic IP distribution, dns registered), then no settings are required on the tablet.

    Internet access via computer

If you have Internet on your computer, you can connect to it via USB port your tablet, configure some parameters, perhaps install some programs - and you are on the Internet.

Today it is difficult to imagine any gadget without access to the Internet - even toasters can play music from the network while you prepare breakfast. So, if you have a tablet in your house, then you need to deal with it.

Even in the most budget Chinese tablet Wi-Fi module must be installed. Therefore it is wireless communication- this is the simplest and quick access to the Internet. Even a child can understand it: just turn on Wi-Fi on your gadget, find your network and enter the password. The device saves the data of each access point, so the next time the tablet connects to the Internet on its own.

But sometimes a simple circuit can fail: . The following problems are possible:

    • Many Wi-Fi models points allow you to set blocking by MAC address. In this case, you must manually enter the MAC of your gadget in the router settings. After this, you can connect it to the Internet without any problems.
    • If you have accessed the network from many different points access, check the list of saved routers on your tablet. Perhaps you have already connected to a router with the same name and this is causing the problem. In this case, you need to delete the saved data and try to connect the gadget again.
    • If the tablet cannot connect to the Internet after the router, then you may need to change the password in the saved access point.

The tablet does not see the Wi-Fi router

Some users are faced with a situation where a laptop or phone easily connects to Wi-Fi, but the tablet “does not see” the desired network. First of all, you need to avoid damage Wi-Fi module. If the gadget does not find only your access point, then everything is in order and you need to look at the router settings.

There are several standards for data transmission over the air, which are signed with the letters a, b, g and n. If Wi-Fi hotspot works in the g standard, and your tablet only supports b, then the gadget will not even be able to find the router.

    3G connection

If you want to always stay connected, then you should give preference to a tablet with a 3G module. Such models are very mobile and allow you to access the Internet regardless of proximity Wi-Fi router.

Typically, setting up a connection does not require much effort - just activating it is enough. After which the operator independently sends the necessary data. All you need to do is enable data transfer. If your travel route does not have excellent 3G coverage, do not forget to allow your tablet to access the network while roaming.

    Connection with 3G modem

To connect a mobile 3G modem to your tablet, your gadget must have a USB or Micro-USB port. If you have micro-USB, you will additionally need to purchase an OTG cable. It is worth noting that this method of accessing the Internet is only possible for devices running . Also, most likely, you will need to get root rights.

    Pre-configuring a 3G modem

The first step is to the computer. Install the drivers and programs that come with the device. Next, in the settings, you need to find the mobile client options and disable PIN code verification.

Now you need to configure the “modem only” mode. The algorithm of actions is as follows:

    1. HyperTerminal.
    2. Go to system properties on your computer and look for the “Device Manager” section. In the "Modems" category you should see your 3G modem. Open its properties, select the “Modem” tab and remember the port information.
    3. Next, you need to launch HyperTerminal, enter any name and select the port whose number you found out earlier.
    4. In the File section, select Properties. In the Settings tab you will see the “ASCII Setup...” button. After clicking it, a window will appear in which you need to check the “Echo typed characters locally” item.
    5. Save all changes. After this, a window with a blinking cursor should appear. Type "AT" and press Enter. When “OK” appears, enter the following command: “AT^U2DIAG=0”. After pressing Enter, the “OK” response will appear again.
    6. You can now close HyperTerminal and remove the device. If the program asks about disconnecting, then agree.

Connecting the router to the tablet

In the settings you need to enable data transfer and 3G, after which you can connect the modem. The device will blink for the first time - you need to wait about a minute. Then go to advanced network settings, select “APN access points” and do the following:

    • Create a new point and enter your network operator's information (if you bought the modem from your operator, this will not be required).
    • After saving the data, check that the new access point is active. Within 15–20 seconds, the 3G or G icon should appear on the control panel. If this does not happen, then restart the tablet and reconnect the modem.
    • Check the Internet.

    Connecting using a computer

Useful for those who do not have a Wi-Fi router at home. You can access the network via your computer using USB cable. Of course, in this case you will not be as mobile, because you will not be able to move far from your PC. In addition, you will have to install additional software both on a computer and on a tablet. Also, this is only possible in an Android gadget with root rights. It is best to have the connection via a computer set up by an experienced specialist.

    Connect using your phone

If you have a modern phone, then it is possible to turn it into a modem. A similar function is supported by smartphones on all popular operating systems. In the settings, mobile Internet distribution via Wi-Fi is enabled in the “Modem mode” section. In a device with Windows Phone this feature is called Internet Sharing.

In general, connecting a gadget to the Internet is usually not difficult. It is enough to spend time once to deal with the necessary settings and in the future you will be able to access World Wide Web in a matter of seconds.

Below we will talk about connecting the tablet to the Internet via Wi-Fi, via 3G (for which you will definitely need a SIM card with 3G or a device with it) and a 3G/Wi-Fi modem, a USB network card and more sophisticated methods from the Internet series to the tablet via laptop via USB. We hope that the above is useful to you!

    Wi-Fi router

When purchasing a tablet, we recommend that you immediately acquire a Wi-Fi router (we hope there is no need to talk about the obvious – the need to have Internet at home). You can buy one in almost every electronics store, and in computer markets it is generally a must-have item for sale. As for the cost, an inexpensive router will cost about 1200-1500 rubles. But save on network equipment We wouldn't recommend it to you. Not all routers are the same, and much will depend on the cost of the device: cheap routers can overheat, freeze, and randomly reboot - such malfunctions should not occur in high-quality, and therefore more expensive, equipment.

In addition, almost the main problem with cheap routers is the “cut off” speed. Let's say your tariff plan states 50 Mb/s for downloading and uploading, but a weak router will be able to provide best case scenario, about 32 and 16 Mb/s. Also, of course, a lot, but you didn’t pay for 32 MB, and especially not for 16 MB, but for all 50. And then there’s no point in blaming the provider in vain. Maybe it’s not the problem at all, but the stuffing of the router, which is simply incapable of more.

Small coverage area is another problem of a weak router. In addition to data processing speed, it should be of no less interest to you. This parameter will determine whether Wi-Fi will reach all rooms of the apartment or, to exaggerate, will only work within the one in which the router is installed. In an open space, the router can distribute Wi-Fi within a 100-meter zone, but with an apartment everything is much more complicated: walls, partitions, doors and other obstacles significantly reduce the coverage area. So for a two-room apartment, a router for 1,200 rubles may not be enough.

The quality of the signal and its range will depend on the quantity external antennas. In short, the more of them, the better: each of the antennas can be directed, thereby improving the signal quality in a particular room. But these are already details.

Alternatively, these could be ASUS RT-N66U or TP-LINK TL-WDR4300 routers, both with three antennas, cost from 3,200 rubles.

So, you bought a router, brought it home, and what next? With average routers price category and above, now everything is generally simple: to connect such a router to a computer you do not need any special skills - everything necessary for this is contained in the delivery kit - we just follow the instructions given in the instructions.

Now: the tablet is in your hands, turn on Wi-Fi in the “Settings” menu - “ Wireless connections and networks" for Android tablets, tap on the icon on the screen - "Wireless connections" for Windows tablets and "Settings" - "Wi-Fi" for iOS devices.

The system will automatically detect everything available Wi-Fi connections. All you have to do is select your newly connected and configured Wi-Fi from the list of suggested ones and click “Connect”. Enter the password and enjoy!

This, in our opinion, is the simplest and most correct way to use the Internet with an Internet tablet at home or in the office.

In addition, Wi-Fi connections are now available in most cafes and restaurants, access points are also organized in shopping and entertainment centers, and in some cities Wi-Fi can be found even in parks and other public places.

About the cost of using the Internet via Wi-Fi. Let's start from scratch: Wi-Fi can be either free (thanks to imprudent neighbors! or, let's say, thank you open networks in catering establishments), and assume some kind of payment. If we talk about home Internet, we pay strictly according to the tariff plan, as before: connecting a router will in no way change the price. But some very enterprising citizens demanded money for the password to Wi-Fi in public places. So, let’s say, we have more than once encountered Wi-Fi in “Waiting Rooms” at railway stations, the password for which cost from 30 rubles/hour. In this case, a tariff would be charged for the use of sockets. And, yes, also strictly according to the charging time of the laptop/tablet/phone.

    Mobile Internet

If you do not have the opportunity to create or connect to Wi-Fi, you can resort to using the mobile Internet. And there are at least 5 options for organizing the connection.

    First: tablet with support 3G

If every tablet probably has a Wi-Fi module, then the presence of a 3G module is an option for which you will have to pay a lot.

What is 3G? This is technology mobile communications 3rd generation, one of which is high-speed mobile access Internet services. To connect to 3G networks, your tablet must have a built-in module. In addition to it, you will need a SIM card from a mobile operator that provides a 3G connection service.

Note that 3G is more expensive than home Internet and often has limited traffic, i.e. You will be able to download from and upload to sites a strictly limited amount of information; everything that is above the norm will be paid at a separate rate.

Therefore, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the tariff plans of each mobile operator and only then buy a card. In addition, pay attention to the coverage area of 3G networks of a particular operator. 3G is far from ubiquitous networks, but you can safely use them within the perimeter of large cities.

In addition to 3G, there are also LTE networks - more modern and faster networks for wireless transmission data. However, LTE tablets, firstly, are not cheap, and secondly, the technology itself is still poorly distributed in our country, so for now it makes sense to talk only about 3G networks and connecting to them.

Chose an operator and tariff plan, purchased a SIM card and placed it in the appropriate slot in the tablet. And that's really all. You don’t need to create any passwords, make additional settings, or anything else. The only thing is to save battery power and, in fact, mobile traffic, it is better to deactivate the 3G connection in the same “Settings” menu and not use it unless necessary.

By the way, the presence of a SIM card in your tablet means not only the ability to connect to the Internet anywhere at any time, but also the ability to make calls using standard mobile communication technologies, thereby turning ordinary Internet tablets into so-called “tablet phones”.

Among prominent representatives“genre” can be called Apple iPad Air Wi-Fi+LTE costing from 25 thousand rubles, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 3G costing from 12 thousand, and ASUS Google Nexus 7 LTE at a price from 13.5 thousand rubles for a model with 32 GB built-in memory manufactured in 2013.

Remember, we said above that the presence of a 3G/4G/LTE module significantly affects the price of the product? So: the same Apple iPad Air Wi-Fi with the same 32 GB of internal memory will cost 22 thousand instead of 25 thousand for the model with LTE; Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 16 GB costs 9 thousand, and Google Nexus 7 2013 without the corresponding module costs 10.3 thousand rubles. That is, on average, a 3G module costs 3 thousand rubles. Remember this number, it will be useful to you later.

    Second:3G modem

With a 3G modem, things are the same as in the previous paragraph: we select a tariff plan, buy a SIM card and, in fact, the modem itself, connect the modem to the tablet using a regular OTG cable. This is, if you like, a slightly enlarged analogue of what could be built into your tablet.

How much does this whole idea cost? It depends how lucky you are. Some mobile operators, to popularize their products and services, sometimes they organize auctions of unprecedented generosity, offering to connect to 3G Internet for a month or more by purchasing a modem “for only 1 ruble!” or something similar.

In the world, a modem from an operator costs from 400 rubles, and taking into account advance payments, subscription fees for the tariff and other associated expenses, the amount increases to 1200-1500 rubles. Yes, this is not 3 thousand, but only one and a half, but this way the 3G modem will hang on the adapter, which is not always convenient. Although, if you think about it, a flash drive with mobile Internet can be used on other devices - a laptop, for example, or even a computer. It's up to you, in a word.

Reservation: To connect a USB modem, reading drivers must first be installed on the tablet of this device. Plus, the modem must be switched to the “Modem Only” state. This can be done using a home PC via a hyperterminal. The procedure is reversible, so “Autostart” and all other delights can then be returned.

    Third:3G/Wi-Fi router

This is also a portable device with a SIM card, but it operates on a slightly different principle. The modem with SIM card accepts 3G, and the Internet is distributed via Wi-Fi. This device is convenient to use when you don’t want to carry around with a modem hanging on an adapter, or you need to connect not one, but several devices to 3G at the same time.

Such a router, depending on its size, can be used both at home and taken with you on trips. Plus, if the signal reception is poor, you can place the router higher and further away, and receive the Internet where it is more convenient for you.

The cost of the device is from 1,600 rubles (for example, a Huawei E355 flash drive 3G modem with Wi-Fi function router). Routers that are more “strong” in terms of hardware and signal transmission quality cost more than 2.5 thousand (for example, an autonomous Huawei router E586 3G/Wi-Fi). Although, if you buy it as a set - 3G/Wi-Fi router + operator SIM card - the purchase may cost less: about 2 thousand rubles.

By the way, such a router has a battery, so you can definitely do without wires and restrictions for at least 4-5 hours (working time in data transfer mode, and in standby mode these can last up to 280 hours). The only thing you will need to connect the tablet is to turn on Wi-Fi in “Settings” and enter the Wi-Fi password, if one is set on the modem.

    Fourth: 3 G byWi-Fi via smartphone onOSAndroid

If you have 3G on your smartphone, the Internet can be distributed via Wi-Fi to and through the tablet. How? The algorithm is simple: in the “Settings” of the smartphone we find “Wireless networks”, and in it - the item “Modem mode” - “Point Wi-Fi access" By activating this item, you can also set a password for Wi-Fi access.

The rest follows the standard scheme: turn on Wi-Fi on the tablet, enter the password and use it.

If the “Data transfer” item for connecting to 3G on your smartphone was deactivated, you will need to enable it accordingly (thanks, cap!).

This type of connection is very power-hungry and the smartphone will most likely be the first to go down, because in addition to pumping data through one channel, it will simultaneously distribute it through another. So you can use it for a very short time or only in the area of access to an outlet.

This is a temporary rather than permanent way to connect your tablet to the Internet.

By the way, you can distribute the Internet through a tablet by switching it to router mode. You never know, maybe you have two tablets at hand at once: one with 3G, and the other with Wi-Fi.

    Fifth: Internet viaBluetooth

This method is suitable when mobile Internet, no matter what, your phone is connected (namely a phone - a colored “nut cracker” without any smart functions), but you urgently need to check your email, edit a file, or send some data from your tablet into the unknown, and there is no Wi-Fi at hand .

However, to organize such an “emergency” connection, your phone must support DUN (Dial-up Networking) technology. Even the ancient Nokia clamshell from 2007 has this, so we think that the likelihood of DUN support in more modern phones is high.

The tablet should also be ready for this type of connection. An application like Dial-up Net is required.

Bluetooth must be turned on on both devices. It is not a fact that you will be able to establish an Internet connection on your tablet this way the first time, or even connect via your phone via Bluetooth in general. Either the programs crash, or “the connection is established,” but the Internet does not appear on the tablet. But, you never know, maybe the stars will align and you will be incredibly lucky!

Internet on a tablet via patchcord

Above, we complained that a 3G modem hanging on an OTG cable is somehow completely a thing of the past. But this is nothing compared to a tablet connected to home Internet by connecting the patchcore and the tablet via a USB network card.

Firstly, the presence of such a network connection in every home is a big misconception, and secondly, the entire portability of a tablet with such a connection is reduced to a minimum. Well, oh well. That's not what we're talking about.

Network USB card costs from 430 rubles (for example, Edimax EU-4208). We won’t say that every city electric market sells these, but if necessary, you can order it on the Internet.

Everything here is also simple: we connect, establish a connection, and work.

There is, however, one thing: your home router must be set to automatic detection IP addresses of devices connected to it. Only in this case will you be able to access the Internet via cable.

    PC or laptop

There are at least a dozen ways to access the Internet from a tablet via a computer. But none of them can be called simple.

So, for example, to connect the Internet on a tablet via a computer, at a minimum, you will need to get root rights on the tablet (administrator rights) and install the appropriate software on your computer or laptop. After launching the program on your PC, connect the tablet to it via USB and enable “Debug Mode”. Now we are talking only about Android tablets.

The program will prompt you to use one of the DNS servers to connect. All you have to do is choose the right one. Confirmation of the program launch and synchronization of the process with the tablet analogue this application must be displayed on the “tablet”.

And that's basically all. If the connection fails, try logging in on your tablet using your IP address. Maybe it will help.

    Instead of conclusions

The most profitable both in terms of money, comfort during use, and time battery life tablet with the Internet turned on, we consider the usual Wi-Fi connection. Behind it in the queue we will identify 3G/Wi-Fi modems and tablet models with a built-in 3G module (if only because such Internet is a. more expensive than usual, and b. 3G connection drains the battery too quickly).

And even with a built-in 3G module, you cannot replace it with 4G, and, therefore, the speed of working with the Internet cannot be increased. Moreover, the 3G model of the tablet both weighs and costs more.

Other methods described in this article are rather emergency, and cannot be considered as options for permanently connecting a tablet to the Internet due to the need for a wired connection, installation of additional software and the presence of additional devices such as adapters and network cards USB.

Without a twinge of conscience, I ask for “phone number” from guys and girls I don’t know well. To check whether the lock button fits comfortably under your finger and whether the autofocus works quickly :) I would like to visit MWC and conduct a live blog from the thick of things.
